Tonight. There are still unanswered questions about a 15 year old boy shot and killed at a bus stop, school bus stop. That is in Newport News Minch High School's principal confirming in a message to parents that that victim is one of their students, Alex Little Hale spent the day at the scene and Alex, what more do we know tonight? Well, Dan, the crime scene itself has long been cleared since about noon this afternoon, but it just in the last hour, I'll take you, I'll give you a look to what we have seen here in the southeast community of Newport News. Police officers with the Newport News Police Department coming out showing strength, showing support to this community, showing some perseverance for this community as this neighborhood tries to understand how a teenager could be gunned down on their way to school. It should have been another day of school pick up. But on this day city who's lost a a young man yellow crime tape instead surrounded this Stewart Gardens corner. I was like, oh my Lord. And it really touched my heart that you was trying to go to school and was gunned down and killed. It's sad. Just before sunrise, authorities say a shot spotter radar picked up a gunshot at the corner of 16th Street and Garden Drive. Nearby neighbors say they heard as many as five near a corner where there are usually more than a dozen kids waiting for pickup. But on Tuesday, when officers arrived, they found a 15 year old shot. What breaks my heart is a lot of kids walking to school today and that's heavy on me right now. So the victim which the Menschville High school principal confirmed was a student died from his injuries at the hospital, especially at 15 years old. He begun life yet a life cut short and a shooting. Police chief Steve Drew doesn't believe was random act of violence but it's a process. It's a process of healing for family, for friends community. Well, I woke up with nine missed phone calls from my mother. She goes to work early in the morning. This is the neighborhood of Newport News City council member, John Ely. His roots run deep here which is why a loss like this so unimaginable, a victim. So young cuts so deep, it breaks my heart, the loss of a life of a 50 year old. It breaks my heart, the loss of any life, you know, so we just checked in with Newport News. Police officials, they say uh hours after that shooting, there is still no update yet on a suspect or an arrest for this case live in Newport News. I'm Alex Little Hales for 13 news now and Newport News public schools released a statement within the last 30 minutes extending their deepest sympathies to the students, friends and family. They say the school division support and response team will be available for Mitch high school students and staff.
