Jack Bech: Big 12 Media Days

Jamie plunket here with horn frog Blitz and frogs Insider podcast standing with Jack bash horn frogs receiver tight end Jack TI two in the system for you I know you're a little bit banged up last year but talk me through this spring you had a really good one what what helped you be so successful this spring I think just getting that confidence back you know um I had a little leg injury and also ankle injury from last year um you know I think it maybe brought my confidence down a little bit um you know I wasn't able to be the player I wanted to be but you know coming out um starting in January I felt 100% my body felt the best that it's felt since the end of my freshman year so you know having that confidence to be able to go out there um knowing that whenever I feel great that I personally feel like nobody in the country can can guard me um or keep up so you know just having that confidence back um like I was telling somebody earlier I think confidence is a huge thing in every sport really in everything you do athletic like related to Athletics or not you know if you have great confidence in will work out for you but if your confidence slumps then you know that can also be you know that it can it can be definitely can damage can damage a little bit so you know I feel super confident and um I think that was the main thing is being able to be confident um work and working super hard obviously on the offseason yeah beyond your ability and and your impact on the team specifically and kind of expanding that out to this offense you're to in Kendall BR system what can frog fans expect from the offense this season uh it's going to be electric you know we have so many guys in our offense that our impact players from our QBs to our running backs receivers um tight ends old Leman I mean we have guys all over the place you know we've all our main thing one of our main things this offseason has just been conforming everybody bringing all in uniting us um getting everybody bought in and we've done a fantastic job of that um you know everybody um has been putting in a lot of extra work so you know like I said we're all itching to get to game one and get thing started and see what we can do you know you mentioned the loaded wide receivers a lot of guys in that room talk to me just about the overall talent in that room and the camaraderie that you guys have with each other yeah I mean I think it's just like the QB room um there's so much talent but there's zero animosity yeah you know there's everybody just wants to go out there and get better and get each other better um you know iron sharpens iron like like they've always said and you know I think we've done a really great job about that you know nobody being selfish you know everybody just being out there to really just get each other better um and to help the whole team take that step forward no you mentioned being selfless and and helping each other grow and get better it was said a couple times last year that there were some challenges in the locker room especially from a leadership standpoint but we heard Sunny earlier up on the podium say that the leadership this year is really strong from a player perspective talk to me about your role and Leadership and who's really stepping up in that area yeah no I think um obviously who I I think he's took a huge step forward from last year to this year um being you know being that guy um you know I think it's made it easier on him to be able to really lead us and talk to us the way um he needs to to be able to lead us in the right way you know he keeps us sharp on and off the field um you know he's done a fantastic job but I think one of the cool things about this year and this team is I think like uh multiple guys have really stepped up you know it's not one receiver it's not one run back one quarterback one offensive lineman one defensive lineman it's it's a collective group I think there's a I don't think I know there's a bunch of people that have Steed up as Leaders which has really helped Propel the whole team forward that's great to hear now on the other side of the ball we see a new defensive scheme this year four men down in the front of that defense what did you see from that side of the ball this spring that makes you think oh the defense is going to be all right yeah I just want to start by saying coach ablos has been awesome I I think what he's done has been fantastic I think it's what we need and um you know he's done I I mean his scheme is it's hard to go against cuz you don't know he's always throwing stuff at you but they disguise it so well that I don't know what you don't know what's coming at you um because they do so much like I said they disguise it so well um and just all the ways they bring different pressures whether it be Corner blitzes cap blitzes um whether it be rushing coming bringing safeties down or rushing guys off the edges or whatever it may be he does a super great job with that that um but they always have enough guys back there to cover so it's been awesome so I know you gave ho a shout out earlier he wasn't over here to hear it but uh I asked him about his suit he said he went with the simple black suit kind of matches his personality a little bit you've got the blue on the basley tie dresses talk me through how Jonathan song hooked you up this time man he was awesome man he really let us get creative with it um but he kind of held us on a little path what we should and shouldn't do um and I think he did a great job with all of our shoes so you shout out to him awesome and could be more thankful of him you're the best dress student athlete here 100% sorry Mike NY Caleb all the other guys from other teams but this the one it's a good the little pockets out yeah I'm just messing everybody looks great so last question for you you know obviously last year was tough you got high expectations for yourself again this year when you think about you in 2024 what's one thing the fan base needs to know about this team going into the season we're going to be gritty we're going to fight we're going to claw we're going to go out there we're going to win as many games as we possibly can and the goals that we set for ourselves we're going to go out and we're going to reach them awesome Jack appreci so much yes sir thank you check out
