Simon what what are you feeling like what what's the takeaway I think defense played really well for us today so uh the line they were really blocking up front we were moving guys able to run the ball which is exciting I just got to be better for the guys just hit a few more throws and we're going to be right in that game yeah what uh can you expand in that offensive line I mean four firsttime starters in a tough environment um what was your impression yeah they're just a really hungry group and uh they just love to play physical football and they just really got after it today it was really exciting to see is it hard to um keep the emotions down when 22 seconds in um you know iio State goes bang bang they score and everybody's going nuts what what's it like from your perspective when that start happens uh we we just try to focus on just uh not worrying about the scoreboard the time like just doing our thing it was the main focus so I wasn't really um wasn't really thinking about it just ready to go out there for our first drive of the game I know you said that you you feel like you want to play a little bit better um you know did you feel like there was a a rust to to your game at all just coming off you know this being your first start in a long time um what would you attribute to some of your troubles um I don't know I think just kind of hang in there I think I don't know if I'd call it a rust but I just got to just got to play better for the guys really it's I I don't know what I attribute it to just uh got to make a couple better throws and I think we're going to be right in that game so I I I don't know what I would say if it's rust or what it is but I imagine that one you want back is that deont that one that one sitting in there right now so for you like Tom mentioned this is kind of the first four quarters of football that you played for a long time what was that like just to get out there and seem like this for the first time since high school it was fun obviously the result not at all what we wanted you know we we had a we really believe that we could come in here and uh get a win but obviously they're a really good team too but it was it was fun but not it's not the result we were looking for for you even though you didn't get in the end zones today you still put up total numbers nearly 300 yards in total offense and it's a a really good Big 12 defense what are some of the positive that you'll see as you move into Mon hand yeah like you said we got a lot of yards we just got to finish drive so I think just being able to move the ball is a positive but at the same time we just got to punch it in at the end you know the line they really played great today so I think that was one of the biggest parts of it can I ask when you got into the Red Zone it felt like you did kind of go go the wrong way a handful of times what are CS or areas where you'd like to improve on to find a way to get few more tou yeah I think just making the right read seeing everything a little better is probably the biggest thing and uh that's probably what I would attribute most of it to last one for me for Coach this was his first time calling a place in an atmosphere like this for this team talk about that relationship and how you grow with Asic this all camp today yeah it's been it's been a lot of fun just um getting to know him better and uh it was good to see like a first game like how he's going to call stuff and uh just got to keep working on just being on the same page all the time like when I when he calls some like I know exactly why he's calling it so I think that's just uh just something to keep look uh working on but his first game so we're just going to try to get better from it flush this one
