coach on the road once again with the MLB stars of the game and I got the man here it's say Robbie Goldman did I get it right yes sir okay cuz coach good at Butch your name yeah it's all right all right so introduce yourself to my Chicago on WE letting Chicago meet all the new white socks players how you doing um Robbie Gman um from Houston Texas and uh it's an honor to put on the white sock uniform Houston Texas you're a long way from home a long way WR so what's this big league experience been like for you I mean the big league is has always been a a dream come true and um lucky enough this is my 11th season playing and um it's something I I really dreamed of as a kid and really took a lot of hard work a lot of perseverance to get to where I'm at today 11 season I thought you was about 13 no I wish so I mean what has been some of the keys to your longevity in this game a lot of self- belief a lot of confidence and uh mostly a lot of hard work with the roller coaster of this game have you ever reached that point where you just I'm giving it up I'm walking away oh many times um and uh everyone's going to go through it but uh what defines you as a player as a man is how you bounce back from uh adversity and and I think that's one of the toughest parts of of doing this for a living so what was that road like for you to just to get to the big leagues uh signed out of high school um 2008 um it's spent four years in miners get called up up and uh went up and down after that and changed team this is my seventh or eighth team by this point so um there's a lot of adversity but um you're going to get adversity with anything you want to achieve in life so you you you fit the you fit the the shrip you know when I used to I just coach college ball Scout of five major league teams we said out of high school it was four years to the big leagues so you drafted out of high school four years and you in the big leagues and look like playing no stand for a while yeah hopefully as long as they get to wear uniform it's an honor and uh a privilege so we got I think of it like that so who was some of the guys that you idolized your mentors along the way man I grew up in Houston so I I watched the Astros and uh Craig viigo Jeff Bagwell Lance Bergman those are all uh my childhood Heroes and who I wanted to grow up and be like so you going to name all the heavyweights those are my guys Killer Bees so I mean well since you grew up in Houston I know when ask was one of the real series you had some Tears In Your Eyes been a ight yeah or Texas night I was on the I was on the other side of that so I'm not going to talk about that I remember when the white socks beat the Astros I remember that oh okay you remember that you ain't going to forget that so okay last two questions all right so you get that call you going to the big leagues you walk in the locker room for the very first time see uniform hang up what was that feeling like oh man put flashbacks of now uh take back yeah it's a good feeling um something you work so hard for and uh I got the debut in Houston in front of my friends and family and I think most of were calling my parents and telling them that hey you got called up um you got to come to the game tomorrow I'm playing I think that was the coolest part did Mama cried I I think there were some emotion shed did you cry no I didn't I was I was I was too worried first major league hit um off of uh Joe Saunders uh ground roll double first major league home run get that I think it was Ryan Dempster my Ryan yeah you got the ball no no no it was Miguel Gonzalez in Baltimore I I do have the ball and I got a plaque on Utah Street to commemorate it first time coach with the man meet you coach thanks a lot A League of Our Own is a self-funded developmental baseball league that offers baseball players an outlet to continue playing baseball this league is designed to develop the whole baseball player both on and off the field non-stop baseball housing accommodations two meals per day uniforms and equipment this league is dedicated to the generations of baseball players who were denied the opportunity to play baseball because of factor other than their ability to play the game the requirements for this lead are baseball talent and ability if you would be interested you can log on to our website at www a247 comom that's a 247.com thank you and help us spread the word click on the Subscribe button and become a subscriber
