this past weekend in college football there was an absolutely heartbreaking moment after a crazy up and down career Jordan Travis has been the heartbeat of the Revival of Florida State football he's put up big numbers has been a great leader and has led Florida State to an undefeated season in the most heartbreaking way possible Florida State lost him not only did he get injured but it was an absolutely gruesome injury and his college football career is clearly done he'll now have to watch on the sidelines and hope that the seminal can remain unbeaten get to the college football playoff and hopefully win National Championship there are a lot of wha ifs and without Travis it is going to be difficult the nlls still have a ton of momentum a ton of great skilled players and a good defense but they now have to find a new quarterback who will the NS be looking to well it is a guy by the name of Tate roadmaker in today's video I want to introduce you to who Tate is we're going to go through what made Tate a blue chip recruit how he got to this point in his Florida State Career and why he could keep the momentum going for the seminal but before we get started if you're a big fan of college football be sure to sub subscribe to the channel leave a like if you want to support today's video and let me know what player team topic or situation I could cover next now let's get started and talk about the rise of Tate roadmaker honestly this question was not supposed to be answered until next spring no one could have ever imagined a world without Jordan Travis and maybe he get injured but no one thought this gruesomely it also comes at the absolute worst time and it's really really unfortunate cuz we'll never get to see how he would play against some of the best teams in college football in terms of his legacy he's absolutely Elite here's where Travis ranks amongst other Florida State quarterbacks number one in total offense number one in touchdowns number one in quarterback rushing yards number one in quarterback rushing touchdowns number two in passing touchdowns number two in passing yards number three in completions number three in completion percentage and number three in wins that is truly an elite level quarterback and Florida state has had some really good players granted Travis has sort of had an extra year to do this but he'll go down as an absolute Legend and we're going to see how this Florida State team responds but this is not the first time that rad maker will be asked to save the day he's already played hero twice in his career as last year against Louisville he ended up getting thrown into the mix and threw two touchdowns and helped them beat the Cardinals on the road ironically I was actually at that game this year of course he was thrown in against North Alabama and not only did he have to lead into a win but he had to pick the team together after just witnessing that injury he ended up throwing for 217 yards and two touchdowns and the offense started to click with him so who exactly is Tate then well going back in time he played in one of the Premier high schools in all of high school football he'd end up starting at valdasta high school and they have a reputation of winning throughout the last 100 years they have dozens of regional state and even national championships in high school football and in fact at the time of his commitment they were the winningest high school program in the US they had 919 total wins so to be the quarterback there was a big deal eventually as a junior Road maker would step up and would become their next big thing from there he ended up throwing for 3,539 yards with 31 touch downs and 10 picks as a junior this would end up being a single season record for them and because of this he started to get recruited by college football programs at first his biggest offer was USF and this is eventually where he would like to play they were a high-end group of five program and despite receiving his first offer from valdasta State USF would end up being where he would commit why did he choose the Bulls well apparently he had a really close relationship with our offensive coordinator saw an opportunity to play it's only 3 hours away from home and was only 15 minutes from the beach those factors went into play and USF had gotten a diamond in the rck but then things would change as a senior he completed 67% of his passes and threw for 3,225 yards with 42 touchdowns this right there would lead to more interest as he'd eventually have more than 25 total offer eventually Florida state would beat out USF pit and Baylor and he would decommit and flip to the seminal roadmaker received a ton of attention from Power five programs eventually and despite him being committed to USF he started to entertain those offers and interestingly he became a Target to Mike Norville only hours after he arrived at Florida State norval knew him while he was at Memphis and just 3 days after taking the Florida state job he went out and found his first quarterback and offered roadm maker a scholarship this was also norville's first commitment and right now his most important commitment in his entire tenure he became the first High School quarterback to sign at Florida State since 2017 as Willie tager leaned heavily on the transfer portal the reason this spot was even open to begin with was because Jeff Sims decided to flip the Georgia Tech I remember researching this and found that him and norell just didn't think it would work out and norell wanted a different quarterback so that's why Sims decommitted but Mike wanted Tate instead and despite him being lower rated he might have fit his program better it was obviously clear norval a plan as he offered roadmaker the same day that Sims decommitted and then obviously roadmaker committed two days later on his official visit during his two years as the Wildcats quarterback he completed 442 passes for 6,764 yards in 73 touchdowns he also completed 69% of his passes and only only had 20 interceptions at the time Road maker played alongside Jem Bell who was a huge tight end recruit who ended up playing at South Carolina and is actually now at Florida State he ended up having 62 catches for a th000 yards and a touchdown in those two years and they became one of the best Duos in the area unlike Jem though Tate was lower ranking as a recruit according to 24/7 Sports roadmaker was only a three star recruit the number 25 Pro style quarterback and the 652 best player in the class of 2020 some saw him as a complete Hidden Gem and others thought it was a reach so how would he end up doing it Florida State so Road maker would arrive in 2020 and didn't necessarily have a ton of hype but was seen as a guy who could compete in the future due to some injuries he'd actually have to start against Jacksonville State in 2020 and in that game he did not really give fans the best impression he went 8 of 12 for an interception and was eventually benched in favor of Jordan Travis in total in his career so far Road maker has thrown for 767 yards seven touchdowns and five interceptions in 2020 he ended up seeing action in four games but obviously did not have great results he was intercepted three times in just 29 passes and one of those was a pick six despite many Florida State fans wanting to give up on him he had to come in and save the day last year as against Louisville as I said earlier Jordan Travis went down with an injury and he threw two touchdowns and a win this was a huge moment for tapate and while he wouldn't be starting in 2023 people were a little bit more confident that he could step in and do some damage if Travis were to go down that was a huge if that no one wanted to talk about now that it has happened though the team is ring around him Florida State's running back said quote Kate has been here for 4 years and he came in with me he's been prepping for this and I know he's ready and he's ready to step up to the play one of the biggest running jokes in college football is that the backup quarterback is the easiest job on the team they say in the NFL you get paid to hold the clipboard and there are no real expectations when you take the field except this time there is roadmaker not only had to pull his team out of a 13-point deficit on Saturday but also had to pull them out of the shell shock that came with that gruesome injury Jordan Travis was an extremely cherished and important player to Florida State and was the unquestioned leader of the team Tate is going to have to demand that sort of respect and play with extreme confidence this weekend against Florida it's pretty much 100% that Tate is going to be the guy as he has four years of experience and was the first guy that Mike norell put on the field when Travis got hurt true freshman Brock Glenn also got on the field but I think that was because it was in garbage time this upcoming weekend Road makers get to start against the Florida Gator and this is a really weird game both teams are going to have backup quarterbacks as Graham Merz broke his collar bone and Max Brown left a star in place of him and then obviously Travis got hurt and Tate has to start Florida's going to be looking to make a bowl game and Florida State's going to be looking to continue their college football playoff height after that Florida State's going have to play against Louisville in the ACC Championship game and that is going to be a difficult task for Tate but I do think he has the ability to help them win these games he doesn't need to be perfect but if he can throw for about 200 yards and two touchdowns then I think that'll be enough to get them to a win for fla State's running game is really good and I'm still not 100% sold on how good Louisville is and while it'll definitely be a challenge I don't necessarily know if Tate changes the outcome of that game that much that being said Travis is definitely the better player he more athletic and is more of a dual threat but we'll just have to wait and see Mike norell said quote our guys have a lot of confidence in tapate because they watch him every day in practice they know the talent and they know the ability he never seemed rattled in the moment this is going to be really interesting to watch this weekend and I definitely hope for the best for him the Florida State team and for a speedy recovery for Travis it's really sad to see that this has happened but this now leaves an opening for a great College Football story and this only adds to the craziness going on but what do you guys think if you're a Florida State fan what do you think of your chances for the rest of the year what do you think of Tate Road maker and what topic should I do next be sure to let me know down below leave a like if you to support today's video subscribe if you're new and check out all my the videos on
