all right guys we do have an update on the Cleveland Brown situation it does seem like things are starting to move a little bit faster with more information trickling in the city of Cleveland has proposed around a $460 million allocation for the Brown Stadium renovation now the original cost of the renovation was thought to be around a billion dollars with the city of Cleveland potentially giving half so 500 million and then Haslam would fund the other half with private money but then the renovation I thought the cost of it was up to 1.2 billion with the city potentially pitching in around 600 million this is all trending towards the Browns getting a new stadium and abandoning this idea alog together but that is the official funding package the latest on the new Cleveland Brown Stadium Saga Haslam has responded to the city's offer now last week I had said that Haslam was basically insinuating he was going to do whatever the fans wanted and overwhelmingly right now it does seem like the fans of the Browns clearly want to dome now whether or not they want to pay around $1.2 billion in public money for it that's another issue but it does seem like the Dome that's estimated to cost $2.4 billion will be what Jimmy Haslam ends up going with this was what Haslam said we appreciate the latest proposal from mayor Bib and his administration and we'll be following up with the city to better understand the details while we are still reviewing it we have said consistently throughout the process we continue to communicate and collaborate with the city of Cleveland and Brook Park along with kayaga County and the state of Ohio for a long-term Stadium solution and then they talk about you know how it's important for the fans in Northeast Ohio the main issue with this potential renovation to Cleveland Brown Stadium well there's two issues number one it's not a dome so that's going to restrict events from being held year round which I'm sure has Lam in terms of being the owner potentially getting more Revenue year round and also just in general I mean there were really bad there's been really bad weather in a lot of regular season rounds games that's significantly affected attendance although they always seem to sell out games even with a bunch of empty seats if you've got those empty seats even if technically they are sold people don't show up because of the cold weather you're dealing with a lot worse of Revenue in terms of concessions and other sales like that so that also becomes an issue but the other big problem is it's right next to the lake and technically you could try and redevelop that land in between the lake area and also the stadium the problem with that is it's such a small amount of land it it looks like at least from the renderings that were released a few years ago on a potential renovation because originally the dialogue surrounding the situation was they were going to do a renovation I mean the stadium opened in 99 it's not that old but as we've seen like with Nissan Stadium these cities also with the Georgia Dome they're really being proactive when it comes to newer stadiums that are domes so they can host more events and bring in more Revenue so they will demolish their old stadium that maybe is only 20 years old in favor for a dome stadium and it looks like that's what the Browns could potentially do not only because it's a dome but also the lack of surrounding area surrounding the stadium with where it's located all the way in the north of Cleveland basically right on top of Lake Erie so I would imagine Hasam putting out this statement saying that he's talking to the city of Cleveland he's going to review it things like that he probably wanted if it is 1.2 billion I'm guess he probably wanted 600 million to be paid by the city of Cleveland they're saying around 460 which would be a little less than half if the total cost of this renovation is 1.2 billion you can see the summary of I I think what it would entail the design and approval the projected costs they're saying it's going to cost around a billion dollars for the stadium project and then they also do have some of the details the lakefront development the city is committed to completing the lakefront master plan projects including the landb Bri and yeah so that's also something that Haslam said if they were not going to do the land bridge which basically would connect like the center of Cleveland or at least the the the northern part of Cleveland with the stadium it was never going to happen so they're saying they're going to do that and they're going to allocate a lot of money to it my question when it comes to this potential renovation again I don't think they're going to choose it but if they did choose something like this what happens to the stadium because the surrounding area you know you're talking about 1.2 billion that's a lot of money but a lot of that is going to developing their surrounding area so how much actually gets done to The Stadium from some of the renderings that I saw it seemed like they were going to maybe put in overhangs to the stadium which I think would look just really tacky and really bad I don't really see much of a point in doing that whenever you've got those like big obnoxious overhangs I just don't think it looks really good especially when it's not going all the way around the stadium like fully connected seemed like they were going to maybe leave the end zones completely open I mean you can understand why they would do it to try and shield the fans from some of the bad elements I mean that's what the bills are doing with their new stadium but their overhangs wrap all the way around the stadium so I don't know exactly what they would do to the stadium itself probably not a ton like I would imagine it would be because the original thing was well what if they put a roof onto the stadium that was a potential idea going all the way back to 2006 just seven years after it opened the idea was maybe put some type of retractable roof that was when retractable roofs were a lot bigger now it seems like they're going out of style and it was announced maybe about five or six months ago that there was no way that a roof will be put on to Cleveland Brown Stadium because the problem with that would be the surrounding area it costs so much to develop that if you're already talking about 1.2 billion you add on a roof that's like 1.8 1.9 billion you might as well just build a new stadium and for them a better area outside of Cleveland believe it or not to build the new stadium would be Brook Park because of the proximity to the airport because of all the land that they would have in terms of actually developing The Stadium versus where it is now nestled right right up against Lake Arie where you could do some cool things with it you know in terms of it being right next to the lake you could build out a nice area in between but the main issue there of course is the fact that you just don't have a lot of land to build out buildings and restaurants and the Entertainment District and the stadium District which is what everyone is trying to do it'd be a lot easier to do that in Brook Park with hotels obviously hotels would be needed a lot of parking would be needed considering Brook Park isn't the biggest City although it is right next to the airport so that would be the current situation there's really no uh update in terms of this executive summary I thought we were going to see maybe a detailed plan on what they would actually do to the stadium if this went through but there is still been no official renderings on this new project now they've always thought about developing the lake surrounding the stadium and there's been different renderings throughout the years but we haven't received really any newer renderings on what it would look like we also haven't received any renderings on the Brook Park Stadium except for that one that got leaked in early May so that is the current situation I do think the Browns will be going with the brand new stadium in Brook Park this is mainly a decision well it's a two-fold decision Haslam wants more Revenue he wants the year round use and also the fans it seems like really overwhelmingly want it of course you're going to get some people that say it's Cleveland it's the weather people need to toughen up that's definitely a mentality that some have but it is not the majority opinion when when it comes to this situation and Hasam exclaiming that he's going to basically decide with what the fans want as long as he gets the 1.2 billion in public money he puts in 1.2 billion in private money the Brook Park situation is probably going to be happening You could argue that this isn't the worst development for the city of Cleveland because we don't really know if Brook Park if the money's going to be coming from them 1.2 billion is a lot of money but Cleveland I mean I thought they were going to have to pledge around 600 million because the updated estimate was .2 billion for this renovation the the initial thought was it was going to be one 1 billion but now I thought it had come out that it was 1.2 billion they're saying it's 1 billion and they're going to fund a little bit less than half of it if they do do end up choosing this but from pretty much all the the things that I've seen the vibe surrounding it they will be going with the new Brook Park Stadium and whether or not we'll get the rendering soon I think it's very possible because the news on this has really picked up over the last week week and a half so it'll be interesting maybe we'll also get renderings on what they would do to the surrounding area of Cleveland Browns Stadium if haslum chooses this model would they be able to put up surrounding buildings would they be able to put up maybe a mini District potentially in between the stadium and Lake area or is that not enough land obviously right now that's just a giant parking lot it would have to be completely renovated that is just a very not a good look even for just the city of Cleveland in general to have that land right next to the lake just be a giant ugly parking lot they've obvious had to have that for the Brown Stadium but you're getting a lot of these stadiums going away from it I will say it is a little bit of an issue with where it's located I mean people do have to drive to Cleveland Brown Stadium just because it's in the northern most point of Cleveland it's not in the middle it's not by the Progressive Field or the the Cavs Arena so the location of it in and of itself is not great now if they potentially had another area in Cleveland that would be more accessible would that be something that has them looks at it's possible but again the problem is it's not like you're gonna find a ton of Acres that you can build around like they would have with the Brook Park site that's why it's such an advantage now there are drawbacks to the Brook Park Park site and we're going to have to see with potential other renderings if this is really the case but it seems like they might have to neuter the stadium look a little bit because of the airport like build it into the ground there's some things like make it really dark there's no fancy lighting or anything like that so might have to really tone down and and and almost make the stadium neutral in terms of color because of how close the airport is with pilots and things like that so that would be a real bummer if that was the case considering you're building a brand new state-of-the-art translucent roof Stadium it's going to last you 40 or 50 years you want it to look as pristine as possible but I think they just kind of want to get it up honestly they're going to make it look nice or I guess as nice as they can with it being right next to the airport either way guys that is going to do it for this video make sure you follow me on X link to that's always in the description and
