see him get a little bit of work now on the practice Flor it's been a minute since he's we've seen him on the floor it has it has and I think you know he's he's been very eager um he's been pushing the training staff to hey I want back I want back and and he's he's done a good job of following the plan and you know it'll be in a limited role he's not completely full blast you know uh so it'll be some Pitch things and just like there was in practice leading up to tonight but it's it's good to have him back cuz he you know he brings some juice to us regardless of how many minutes he plays it's really the energy and the the toughness he adds to us on the defensive end he's added a big spark for us in several games so just having him back I know the rest of his teammates are really excited to have him him back in uniform tonight and speaking of toughness that's been what Ruckers is about in a season where scoring is up considerably in the Big 10 conference this year from last it's a Ruckers team that's still is going to grind it it's going to be hard to score against it is yeah they definitely you know if you you study the defensive analytics in the in the league it's you know it's ruter it's Maryland are two at the top along with Penn State and allbe it a little different but Ruckers and Maryland are very similar in terms of defensive identity um Personnel uh obviously a rim protector Cliff alar ru's having a had a really good career for ruter so yeah it will be you know we caught them right when they were rolling out there and they had just gotten Williams eligible um so we're going to you know we're going to be better tonight and I I think our guys are ready to to show that we are better I feel like I say this every year but it's hard to believe it's the last home game it's gone fast which is when you can say that that means you like your team yeah this team has been great I know we've had some bumps here but so is everybody else we've just had them here basketball game like as that was the biggest thing the biggest pressure that I felt that senior night was we can't lose this like we cannot there's and we had a big 10 Championship on the line and Robbie hble sitting there right across and I'll remind him again that you know we won that he doesn't have anything so of course but that that's the pressures you want this to be the last one but you also want it to be the one that where you can leave here on a good note and while might not be a big 10 championship at stake here tonight there's still a double buy to go chase there's a lot of reasons why you want to win this game but just looking at the tangibles Northwestern will play Minnesota Saturday night Wisconsin sitting right now at 10 and8 Northwest 11-8 Bader's had the tiebreaker with the Wildcats right so this game has more than just a little bit of significance to it this game is huge I'm GNA be on the call for that Northwestern Minnesota game and I'm looking at both of it still overall though in a pretty good spot in terms of the NCAA tournament things want to get right for a variety of reasons 18 and 11 overall 10 and 8 in the Big 10 ruers 15 and 14 and 7 and 11 in good spot in the biggest picture getting in the NCAA tournament fans can maybe not be so ansted rid about that but they still want to they still want to be playing better basketball finish games get as high a seed as you can and just feel better about yourself because they're very close now just trying to get over the top but here's a beautiful thing about basketball is you can turn it quickly you can start playing B and all it takes is one or two games in the in the momentum and the Mojo like you see them players all the time we saw it with Max thr a stretch there last five and he's crazy like but that's how basketball works and it can do the same thing with the team and to me that's what this team needs now they have a great opportunity with this ruers team offensively I'm just going to be very blunt they are horrible like they are not good on the offensive end now you get lock that doesn't mean they can't be good tonight though we saw that right Fernandez and everybody that like that they do and how they go about it like they have the ability they just haven't been good for the majority of the Year locking on this but get right on your on your side the ball offensively pay play with a little bit I love the the match up here because offensive Ruckers isn't great however on the defensive end they are great so it forces you really to get back to being simple move the ball share the ball have body movement those sorts of things and now all of a sudden you kind of can turn the page and and build As you move to Sun that's the hopes as we leave the tip and you just spoke to it a bit but let's Circle back cuz we we talked about this from time to time this season Pace versus speed there's a difference there is when you talk about playing fast and speed that's up and down that's getting the ball going and going boom boom back and forth when you talk about Pace that's all in the half court and it's getting bodies to move that ball is getting multiple sides of the floor you're going from One Wing through the top to the other wing and it's going back and forth a really good possession it can go five six times without getting a shot clock violation cuz that ball is moving and then you get the defense to move and realistically nobody wants to play defense for that long if they tell you they're lying there's no basketball player that I know that wants to play defense at long if you can tell somebody you know what you're going to play defense the entire game game and not shoot at all this floor would be empty oh you love playing defense no I hated it I had to to play but I hated it it's such an interesting contrast because if you're a ruers fan you're thinking man we could just be decent on offense we'd be an NCA tourament tournament team Badger fans saying man if they could just be a little bit better on defense they score enough then you're chasing championships and you just feel a lot better about things so we'll see who gets the better of boy senior night team trying to feel good about itself hitting the end of the regular season this time if you're a Wisconsin fan the script actually played out the right way well it did and I think a lot of it that's what you want to leave a day with when it's senior day and especially when you're the only one it's it's one of those where you find a way to get a win find a way to know that you're still going to play some basketball after this and now it's kind of gone which is good now you can worry about what you want to worry about and where you want to leave your legacy and that starts in March yeah that's the reality of it obviously Big 10 championships play a factor in your conversation of your career but what you do in March is a huge part as well yeah the best part and we've been saying this a lot now of these senior nights it's not your last game hope you got a lot of games left and you know talking with Tyler yesterday you know they they hope and believe that the best can be yet to go yet to come Tyler wall a part of two big 10 championship teams multi trips to the NCAA tournament the what might have been in 2020 the team that won a piece of the championship and then obviously we didn't have the NCA tournament that year but as you mentioned a couple minutes ago though Butchie it's one game I know no but it's one that this team dearly needed things to work on for sure got sloppy in the end but they did a lot of things well when they had to here tonight yeah and that's the thing it was one game for Tyler wall as a senior was much bigger for this team yes and I said it I said it during our our broadcast that I felt like this was one of those games that we saw in that December January time where it was like sure who are you going to stop and it was Kamari McGee tonight that came in and gave some energy during the last nine games there was there a lot of like there wasn't a lot of that where where a guy would come in and inject so much energy and so much effort and and then had the results behind it that you're like this is great like whoa that's what that's all we needed we just needed a little bit of a punch in the punch of the arm to get going again like that's what they had and and you're sitting at a 12-point game that was really 17 with about a minute left I mean that's what we've been used to that was the narrative earlier in the year oh not a lot of close games Wisconsin hasn't they've been able to kind of extend that lead down the stretch and then all of a sudden they got into some close games and when you're in close games they can go either way and that's where getting one key stop is a big part of it didn't do that over that nine game stretch but this is what we've been used to seeing from this team and I said it earlier before the game even started the game of basketball it does not take a lot to turn it to get your mojo back to start feeling good about yourself as a player all it takes is one game you go five of five from the floor you make some threes now all of a sudden you have good two or three weeks and that's what like as a basketball player you love being in those moments can this team like we don't know they'll build from it can this team build from it it's tough to build from it when you go play at Mackey however why not why not like build on it take some things move that to the tournament see if you can get the double buy if you can get the double buy now you start playing more and I think that's the interesting M interest interesting thing Matt is I know Bo and Greg feeli the same way about the tournament we're going to go we're going there to win the thing I don't like March Madness we won't be tired like we're not worried about being tired we're going there to win it I know some
