OSB ( Oriented Strand Board ) ENGINEERED WOOD I Similar to particle board.

hi everyone welcome back to my channel designed by misha this video is part of my video series on various material used in interior designing i will talk about osb which stands for oriented strand board if you haven't watched my previous video on popular construction materials i will add links to my other videos do watch them after this video osp is an engineered particle board made with flakes or large chips of wood it is formed by mixing the wooden chips with adhesives and then compressing the wood flakes together the panels are formed using layers or piles glued together with their strands at 90 degree angle to one another this cross orientation off layer adds strength to the panels this result in a structure engineering wood panel which is similar to plywood in strength and performance but more uniform and less expensive people sometimes assume that osb and mdf are the same thing but they are quite different in their construction uses and strength yes both of them are engineered woods that are used in construction project but please remember that they are not interchangeable osp panels are very lightweight and easy to handle and install osp sheets are recognized by the industry as an ideal wood product and are usually available in thickness ranging from 2.5 mm to 30 mm it is easy to add curves to the board while manufacturing besides their good sound insulation they have no empty space inside them and no knots or crack so they are very uniform since they are made up of wooden chips they are eco-friendly they also perform well when exposed to rain humidity wind or heat however since they have a rough surface it is impossible to apply laminate products onto them osb is widely used in walls ceiling and as a base for the floor before adding carpet or wooden floors you can use osp boats in flooring for a cost effective flooring solution or use it as a sub flow under a layer of hardwood flooring these boards can be cut into manageable sizes and shape for various woodworking projects unlike plywood you don't need to paint it or apply any top layer you can use osb directly for making furniture and it provides an elegant finish to the surface the cost of osb board usually starts from rupees 25 per square feet and varies depending on the thickness and size thank you so much for watching this video i hope you found it informative do share your feedback about this video and suggestion for future videos in the comments below if you haven't subscribed do consider subscribing to my channel so until next video take care and good bye [Music]
