well back to back starts with seven innings for starters just as you mentioned and he allowed one run to the angels with a career-high eight strikeouts last week out inl he backed that up against the Cubs in Chicago last start seven shutout Innings grance has taking his time pitch clock is winding down but he gets going just in time and he's in there with a splitter for strike three called pitching swinging a miss and a fast ball up and he Strikes Out Zack [Applause] Netto the elevated fast ball is always going to work at the top of the Zone if you're consistent with the splitter down in the zone he really let that one go he gets good extension he's a big guy 6' five out on that mound and he can get down the mound this is where the splitter plays because par will chase Ranch has struck out the side of the first hitting in Chicago and he has done it again here he gets Ward Netto and parlar and B Francis off and running here this afternoon and the righties he kind of threw the curveball to the side and went slider and split as the secondary pitches and he's feeling pretty good about the for seamer as he Strikes Out Anthony randone and Francis has struck out the first four batteries he's faced looked like Servin wanted that ball up if you're going to miss miss up too high or away and he got it out there and he ends up getting the Chase from randone Zeno Mike zenino he was kind of that bopping guy behind the plate but not the catcher another strike out for Francis number five already there's that splitter grip you see he really spreads his fingers out to get the baseball in between his first two fingers and tries to almost get one finger on each side of those seams Drury went 0 for three in last night's game little weak bouncer to the first base side of the the mound Francis the flip to Guerrero and the side is retired no runs no hits a couple left but Francis gets out of it Kevin polar still here that's a guy that could have been traded but [Music] wasn't and strike three call gets the call on the corner with the splitter that's strikeout number six another splitter and I love the 01 curveball again it's the second time he's flipped in a curveball there to steal a strike you get ahead of a hitter 0 and two and you are in the driver's seat as a pitcher and you see that ball just taking off a little bit armide but just hangs on to the corner and a ground ball hit to short to second one Schneider on to First In Time Jimenez to Schneider to Guerrero for the double play and it is three very good Innings so far this afternoon for B and Francis on the heels of him winning American elag player of the week always interesting how you get to this two and two count now he's only seen the one splitter and that's the one he struck out on the first time up there it is wow another strike out for Francis number seven who he is on the mound what a weapon it's been and then he elevates the fast B to strike out another one eight strike outs through four innings for bow and Francis so one ball two strikes and that's strike three on the outside corner and that's a career-high ninth strike out for B [Applause] Francis well that was a fast ball but again the splitter has been uh a big talking point today and in his last start as well teach us a little bit about splitter grips well similar yet so very different I would look at B Francis and yiel Rodriguez as being very similar the way they spread their fingers apart and get a finger on each side of each seam Kevin gosman's got his middle finger on the ball a little bit more basson Swanson very different arm angles whether he's thinking splitter or he's just laid on the heater or a combination of both strike out number 10 we don't see that pitch very often as a strikeout pitch he just flipped that curveball in there as though it was an O pitch to a lefty but clearly fooled the left-handed hitter froze him fast B hit back to the mound easy play for Francis and another three up three down inning and the beat goes on for bow Francis couple of strikes on Kevin polar and a splitter to get him the Third time he is struck out polar and that's now 11 strikeouts today for B Francis and again it's about the sequencing first pitch fast ball comes back with a little slider and then now the splitter there's that grip that we showed so many of earlier boy seven like this would be one heck of a St for B Francis to say the least and there it is another strike out that's number 12 might be the last pitch of the day who knows caring 100 but seven hitless Innings with 12 strikeouts today for bow in Francis just starting the eth it's popped up J menz is going out he is called off by L peredo that's the first out here in the eighth inning everybody in the ballpark knows what's going on couple of strikes now listen to them get louder better than 34,000 today to left field it's right at L peredo and the inning is over eight outstanding innings for bow and Francis will there be a nine for him we'll find [Applause] out High Drive center field deep varo cannot get it it's up on top of the wall and gone it is a home run for Taylor Ward and the no hitter is gone here to lead off the nineth and now the Ovation for Francis will resume and now undoubtedly John Schneider's going to come get him he gave him a shot there's the call to the pen for Chad green a standing o from his teammates as well one and afternoon for bow and Francis and let's soak this in for him at what a moment this has to be for him right now no hitter through eight the home run by Ward acknowledges the fans 3-1 Blue Jays now as Chad green comes on to try to finish it off [Music]
