College Football Schedule Draft - Choose ONE Game Week 7-13 (Late Kick Cut)

the late kick schedule draft we already did weeks one through six and i wanted to quickly recap what we did and why we're doing this before we dive into the second half of the season because we got huge feedback on this i mean copious amounts of feedback this is not final this list is not final and so we're drafting basically one game to go to per week now jesse is showing you if you're watching on youtube and if you're not i'll recap it for you the games we already chose and keep in mind what we're trying to do here we are essentially at late kick we're able to go cover a game every week can only be in one place at one time but what we're trying to do is get to as many places as possible see as many high caliber teams as possible but see the best games and make sure we're not leaving there with regret having gone to the wrong game we saw a blowout the other games were incident classics we don't want to be that so we want to be in as many good situations as possible so weeks one through six tentatively here's what we chose we're going georgia clemson that's a neutral site opener in week one oregon and ohio state in week two week three we went bama at florida paused on that one because i'm gonna come back to it notre dame versus wisconsin in chicago that was the week four game auburn at lsu in week five i'm soft on that one mine can be changed and bama at a m for week six but that's also o.u texas up the road i told you if you got a noon versus 8 p.m kickoff situation could make both of them happen i told you pause on what was at alabama at florida because boy you came and i mean by the i think hundreds probably at the very least dozens if not hundreds of you poured into the late kick inbox on twitter and instagram at late kick josh even the email inbox filled up and you said you probably want to rethink that you can get to a florida game alabama game later on you probably if they do the white out at penn state for the auburn game you're going to want to get up there for that and i agree with you i just assumed they were going to do it for the michigan game but i was looking over things and i'm 50 50 on that right now so i could we got some time but i could very easily be swayed but with that in mind because strategy plays a lot into where we're gonna go one week to the next let's dive into week seven because week seven is all about strategy we've got a friday game that could very well qualify as the game that i choose to go to cal is at oregon on friday in week seven also look at the lineup here if you're watching on youtube you can see it florida is at lsu we got miami at north carolina this is a sneaky game in the big 12. i don't think right now you'd circle it but let's come back and see later on what tcu is we got tcu at oklahoma out on the west coast again if ucla gets rolled by 30 in week one this may not be an issue but if they surprise lsu and they're all of a sudden this surprise contender thereafter on the west coast a game like ucla at washington arizona state at utah could very well decide the pac-12 south i don't think i've talked about arizona state enough on the show to be honest with you here's the strategy the strategy is i actually chose cal at oregon because i think we could get a two for here there's a lot of benefit to your game being the friday night game number one really if you wanted to you could just go to khaled oregon and i knock off austin stadium which we haven't been able to do this year yet and we won't be able to do number two we also get a big time game there but number two is you either get to go home and ingest an entire saturday of college football wherever you want to in front of a tv or how about this how about we make the flight relatively short by west coast standards to utah what if we were to see khaled oregon on friday and we were to see arizona state at utah on a saturday that knocks off for the big boys in the pac-12 it gets two pac-12 games and it's very tough to do that and get back to nashville in time to host a show on sunday night so i'm gonna go cal at oregon with the asterix next to that even though jesse's not gonna graphically show you the asterisks next to that is we could probably knock out two here if we wanted to on to week eight i want your feedback on all these by the way because this is not final until we all collectively agree it's final how about week eight lsu is at ole miss that's a very sneaky game i have not thus far chosen an ole miss game that could change ohio state's at indiana ohio state when this number came out was a 10 point favorite i have not checked it over the last couple of days but that's going to be a very competitive game oklahoma state at iowa state got my eyeballs on that one oregon is at ucla ditto what i said previously about what could be versus what may not be on the west coast but usc is at notre dame i'm passing on cincinnati at notre dame and i'm passing at north carolina at notre dame and because i'm passing on both of those i gotta choose usc at notre dame so i need to get to south bend for at least one i would prefer to when notre dame is a contender i want to get up there every year it's one of my favorite stadiums i've ever been to i would assume this will be a night game that nbc probably 7 30 eastern time kickoff it's the only chance i'll probably get to see usc this year and it's very likely to be a one-possession game i don't know that we're going to find ourselves leaving southern cal at notre dame and saying boy man that was a dud that turned into a 44-20 route i just don't think that's going to happen this year also whether you were born in 1943 73 93 or 2013 it's it's a uniform game how do you go wrong picking trojans and irish you don't so i think that we got a wide variety of people who watch late kick we got some older folks excuse me we have a more seasoned audience and then we have a much younger audience but i don't think anyone can push back on choosing to see those two programs go at it because they've mattered across the spectrum of generations is my point so let's go usc at notre dame there again i am open to you talking me off that but where would we go elsewhere lsu at ole miss there is a strong case to be made for that ohio state indiana i can get listen i'm trying to get to iowa state more on that in a second let's move to week nine week nine was tough i've already been out there with a twitter poll today exclusive to week nine because week nine i have a situation here where i wish i could spread some of these games out kind of like week six but we can so i think this is the next toughest week to choose from we've got georgia versus florida jacksonville we got florida state at clemson look at this list that jesse's showing you iowa at wisconsin is a massive game i could pick two or three other weeks if i dropped that one there it would be a no-brainer to pick you got a rivalry game michigan at michigan state penn state is at ohio state this day think about what penn state's already been through you know the buckeyes are going to be there penn state will have already played wisconsin they will have already played auburn they will have already played at iowa i mean they could lose all those games but you know what else they could do they could also win all those games what if penn state were undefeated what if james franklin and the nittany lions were to have collectively just gotten up off the deck and that's an undefeated versus undefeated and you're trying to choose between that and a rivalry game in the sec east that is just a knock down drag out knife fight every year i've been to it several times oh and by the way you got tar heels at irish and you got ucla at utah there are so many consequential games here and i looked around and i don't think we can pull a twofer on this day there is kind of a path but there's not really so i am choosing georgia florida there are arguments to be made elsewhere i just don't think there's a bigger game than that what could change this of course is the aforementioned scenario of undefeated undefeated and let's say that i don't think georgia would because the schedule is a lot more workable but florida will have already played a couple of losable games by this point i mean if if they lose them then all of a sudden maybe that game loses a little bit of luster and that's the good news about this we can adjust but right now i mean i don't know if you guys agree or not i think we got to go georgia florida there and then let's just pivot as necessary week 10 is a game at the marquee at least that i've chosen virtually every year to attend we've got lsu alabama in week 10. we got auburn at a m which has been a good game in any given year in the sec west it's probably going to be up to auburn to fulfill in terms of at least match up profile indiana's at michigan i have no idea what to expect i have no idea i mean that's 10 weeks into the season i don't know where either program is texas at iowa state is one that i have soft sharpie right now i'm looking at it on my list because i cannot find another way to get to iowa state this year you already heard me talk about trying to get up there for the iowa game and it's very very hard uh given the other selections that saturday texas at iowa state put a pin on that one ohio state at nebraska i don't know why i put that i just put it there because we're talking about nebraska later in the show and jp angel's in the outfield you know it could happen oregon at washington usc at arizona state you guys probably roll your eyes when i keep putting these pac-12 games on here i think there's a lot of good teams on the west coast uh there may not be a great team but i think there are a lot of good teams out there i'm choosing lsu at alabama tentatively i know some of the criticism from the first half of the season was it was sec heavy yeah i don't know if you guys have realized this they play the best football in the country they got the best venues in the country they got the most rabid fan bases in the country it's going to be sec heavy when you can choose where you want to go and you're trying to get yourself in the best environments to see the best games and the best teams you're going to be parked in the southeast a lot and so i'll probably roll with lsu bama here but again with the ability to pivot right up to ames iowa texas at iowa state i would not be at all upset if that's where we ended up week 11 now this is one where i think we probably have the most flexibility out of any of the weekends especially later in the year oklahoma is at baylor baylor could be undefeated they could be a four loss team let's just put that one in mind and then let's just turn the page bob seeger michigan is at penn state on this saturday and i think at this point in the year aside from the truly elite teams you're saying the same thing about every one of these teams they could be this they could be that so this is just we're looking way down the road these are all could be elite matchups they could be notre dame's at virginia arizona state at washington arkansas at lsu miami florida state those are all games that fit the same criteria there so i'll tell you what i chose i chose michigan at penn state this is given the fact that we did not choose auburn at penn state so basically what we're trying to find here is we're trying to find the penn state whiteout game that's what we're trying to find and i hope for our sake that that gets announced sooner rather than later this one is tentative it's very much written in pencil but i'm choosing michigan at penn state but you never you never know this notre dame virginia game just to give you an example does not stand out to you right now any given year the acc is workable in any given year some team could rise to the forefront and become a surprise contender and that's why i put those games on the list of notable in week 11. it's on the periphery it's on the fringes but you never know so i'm choosing michigan penn state written in pencil week 12. virginia tech is at miami in week 12. iowa state is at oklahoma in week 12. oregon is at utah that's a big one that's potentially a very big one to me in week 12. georgia tech now you know that i have them as the most underrated team in the acc so i'm gonna give them a little love here they're at notre dame i don't assume that will be a largely consequential game just in case though we're a long way away we'll see and ucla is at usc to me this one's pretty easy man we got a we got to go to the big 12 it could be the first of two big 12 championship games could be so i'm gonna go iowa state at oklahoma it will have been the first time that we can see iowa state and i think it's the first time that we've seen oklahoma in the year if we can't make it to the red river shootout and it's the first time that we will have been in norman all year so let's go iowa state at oklahoma i did not have a lot of trouble in week 12. week 13 is the last weekend in the regular season this is as you know rivalry weekend for most not all we've got the iron bowl we've got ohio state at michigan we've got oklahoma oklahoma state we've got a m at lsu so i circled the iron bowl because i always default to my upbringing again with the understanding that as we get closer if if jim harbaugh and michigan have rallied the troops and brian harson and auburn have fallen flat in week one of course we default or rather we pivot from the default to ohio state versus michigan but i'll tell you another one that could really rise up and steal the headlines and that's texas a m and lsu and that one's turned really nasty lately and it's also a couple of programs that right now you don't know really what to expect you know what the raw talent roster says they're capable of but you also see enough question marks to think could be a crushing disappointment there too i just keep my eye on a mlsu i'm going to default to the iron bowl it's at auburn uh it always is a little more rowdy when it's at auburn because i've always candidly believe that game means more to auburn than it does to alabama and so let's circle the iron bowl there so in summary the weeks 7 through 12 we're going cow at oregon on a friday and i can be talked off any one of these we're going to usc at notre dame in week 8. week 9 we've got georgia florida week 10 is lsu at alabama and we're going michigan at penn state that's really soft right now at week 11. iowa state at ou week 12 and then bama at auburn in week 13. so you got to look up and down this list because i just want all the credit with none of the blame so if any of this goes wrong i'm putting it on you because you didn't talk me off of it now if we end up seeing instant classics you will see no man on the face of the earth stretch harder than i do to try and pat myself on the back but this is fun it can be grueling it can be taxing but it can be fun too so we got a little while let me know what you think in the comment section we've got a 13 of these weeks to sort out and then we get in conference championship saturday and bowl season and then it just really becomes who gives you the best media gift that's really what it becomes at that point got a sweet book bag a couple of years ago from santa clara still use that thing every day
