e yeah no obviously it was good to um you know play a first game and see where we're at uh you know our players were excited to play uh Lov the way they approached the week um loved the way they approached the game I thought they were into it uh they didn't let the score or the opponent uh dictate how they were going to play they they continued to play extremely hard and extremely well uh we were able to play a lot of guys 73 guys played uh 28 guys had tackles I mean I think that gives you depth and experience over the course of a long season we all we all understand um injuries may happen at some point in time hopefully we can avoid them as best as possible but uh a lot of guys had an opportunity to gain some valuable experience in game our players of the game Ethan Hampton obviously a quarterback did a phenomenal job um directing the show offensively uh got us in a lot of good plays uh made a lot of good throws uh defensively Roy Williams was our defensive player of the game um he started the game on a on a good note with a sack early uh played violent um played aggressive made tremendous tackles and then Austin Bullock a young man that is a true freshman handled out kickoff duties I believe he had nine kickoffs all game and obviously if you know anything about kicking the ball uh I'm sure his leg was a little bit tired afterwards but had tremendous uh placement uh with the ball allowed our special teams guys to get down the field and tackle the ball inside the 20 yard line a couple times so that was a tremendous asset for us um in that game obviously the new helmet uh technology was great uh being able to talk to the quarterback the iPads were awesome uh was able to make in-game adjustments quickly uh get our players the corrections what they needed to do I thought uh from a staff standpoint we had a great plan in place of how to maximize the iPads on the sideline the communication for and then we had a good plan uh for halftime uh sent some guys down early uh got things on the board uh was able to uh make some adjustments before the coaches got in there and then obviously was able to come out in the second half and and put a good drive together uh to get us going so um captains this week uh I know last week it was a snafu on my part but but I'm prepared this week uh JJ Lippy Skyler Gil Howard Javon bird Kate Haberman Logan sherit and Grayson BN so those six guys will represent us at Notre Dame uh those guys are tremendous leaders when you have a team full of 32 seniors you have to rotate it around and I'm excited uh that these guys have an opportunity uh to do that this week uh you know for us um you know some things I were proud of from the game uh we we minimized our penalties um I thought we played clean football you know we had refs uh doing fall Camp um but we only had them two times so you never know that first game you can have a lot of penalties or uh we play discipline game of football I thought the guys were um we didn't have any extra stuff uh outside of the play uh I think that's important uh you see you watch a lot of college football nowadays and there's a lot of extracurricular things going on after the play and I was proud of our players uh from that that standpoint and I thought our coaches did a great job uh with ingame adjustments uh seeing different looks um obviously first opponent new coaching staff new players and I thought the adjustments that were made in game gave us a chance to continue to be aggressive uh and play down the field so I thought it was a complete game in all three phases um we got to continue to play that way obviously we have a tremendous opponent uh this week in Notre Dame a great opportunity for us uh you know one thing is a head coach when I watch an opponent the first thing I look at is special teams uh and that that gives you a feel for the type of program and culture uh of the opponent and one thing I can tell you is Notre Dame is exceptional on special teams uh and normally those are the guys that's fighting to get on the bus uh guys that's fighting to get on the field by any means necessary uh and they do a great job uh in that regard have a ton of respect uh for Coach Freeman uh you know to be a head coach at Notre Dame at 38 years old with everything that comes with it um obviously he he has to be an outstanding um person I don't know him personally I just had a chance to watch him progress throughout you know his coaching from afar um but he has a physical football team as a former linebacker uh you would expect that uh they they play physical uh they play downhill uh they have tremendous athletes um it's going to be a great challenge for us offensively you know they have a new coordinator from LSU uh he's running some some different things um than he did last year uh I think P part of that is probably Personnel based uh we know the quarterback is a tremendous player had a chance to watch a crossover game when he was at Duke when we play Boston College he can throw it he can run it uh he's big he's physical obviously they have some really really physical and downhill backs uh Dyan uh mcculler uh is a guy I know we was in the NFL together and been very impressed with what he's done uh with that back field uh up front the offensive line got a bunch of young players that's gaining value valuable experience Joe Rudolph and I work together at Wisconsin so I know him well know what type of Coach he is he's got that unit planing at a high level uh and then at the receiver position they got big big uh receivers physical uh that can run after the catch uh so we got to do a great job defensively uh gang tackling I think that's going to be important uh in a game like this and then defensively uh coach Golden a defensive coordinator obviously he's been a head coach uh he's been around coaching the NFL has a tremendous scheme they can attack you from different fronts uh they can attack you from different uh Blitz uh looks uh and they're aggressive they're physical and they're downhill so they got a really good front four uh that sets the tone for their defense their linebackers play downhill uh and then on the back end of their defense uh number zero is a great player number 20 is a great player uh they got some guys that can be eracist on the back end of their defense so which allows them to play good defense on all three levels so uh for us it's a tremendous challenge uh we obviously know it's going to be a hostile environment we work crowd noise this week uh there are going to be a lot of things um that that going into the preparation standpoint uh but for us it's about making it about us and how we prepare and how we go execute we know it's going to be physical uh you know not the Dame is going to stand in the middle of the ring and we got to we got to walk to the middle of the ring uh and master the level of intensity coach could this be the best team you've coached against in six years here you know I'm not going to compare um teams I don't think that's fair uh to the opponent or to the teams that we played so you know we're not going to get into that um but this is a very good football team uh one that we respect and they have our full attention this week coach how important was it for Ethan to get U out of the gate quickly with a great performance last week in his first start this year yeah I mean it it gives him confidence um he's a young man that you know we've seen the glimpses of what he did last week in practice and to give him do it in a game under real conditions should give him a tremendous amount of confidence moving forward as he continues to develop because he's still going to get better um you know he's going to get better he's going to learn from it uh you know he missed two throws but it was two throws that could have easily been completions if he made the right read and the right throw so you know he could have easily been 20 for 20 um so I think just not getting complacent and not settling is going to be important for him to continue his development coach now that you had time to take a look at the film from last weekend what are some things that you want to see cleaned up yeah I think um you know obviously things that don't show up on tape uh some sideline uh procedural things we had a we had 12 guys on the field on a punt return uh I want to see our our you know extra point team get cleaned up um you know from an operation standpoint from a a kick standpoint uh from a snap and hole standpoint um I I do want to see us tackle better uh you know we put an emphasis on tackling uh we had a lot of leaky yardage plays uh in the game uh in my opinion and I want to see as have better ball security uh we had the fumble uh the second Drive uh with Gavin um uh AB put the ball on the ground Grayson bares put the ball on the ground quickly so we you know that you know we didn't tackle those guys a lot in Fall camp for obvious reasons um but that those things we can clean up uh and be more uh diligent about uh preparation and then you have played a bunch of against a bunch of top 10 opponents as your coach as the coach here at NIU but this is the most veteran team that you bring into one of those matchups what are some of the things that have you feeling most confident about the team you're bringing this Saturday well I think um you know all throughout this whole offseason the maturity that these guys have shown um gives me confidence I talked to him today about I thought they were comp you know competitive mature uh for this week uh you know we bumped some things around this week from a practice standpoint uh to take advantage of Monday being a day off um with Labor Day and no school uh we are morning practice so you know if you can have a chance to let these guys sleep in a little bit and get some preparation done uh we did that and they handled it uh the way I expected um and I everything we put in front of them they've handled uh so when young people come together and work together and have confidence in one another I think good things can happen biggest concerns going into Saturday's game against Mur day yeah I mean we just want to play our best football right uh don't let the moment be too big don't let the environment be too big uh don't let the opponent be too big right um they put their pants on just like we put our pants on and just handle it early uh and settle into the game and then then then play the way we know how to play you know like I tell the players all the time I don't need you to be Superman I just need you to be your best and and if we play our best uh then we'll live with the results uh whatever they they may be any areas on offense or defense that you know sticks out or not as far as what against Notre Dame what they do and so forth I mean they they're better than other areas well um I think as a team they they play extremely they play without hesitation uh which you know to me if you are a physical player you like to see um but they don't nobody hesitates on their team from the offensive players to the defensive players to the Special Teams players if they're going to hit you they're going to hit you full speed and so you have to understand that and understand how to offset that uh you know and counter that and and you have to masch that level of intensity so uh we know what we know what's coming and we know what it looks like and we got to be ready uh to to fight back how would you say the defensive line played last week yeah I thought our defensive line uh played disruptive I thought um they changed the line of scrimmage uh they give us a chance to be the type of Defense we want to be and I think you know for us as you look at last week I think um our linebackers can play better um they can play uh more downhill uh make more more tackles um but our defensive line gave gave them a chance to be clean and to run around uh and make plays so uh for us it always starts up front uh o line dline and and I'm excited to watch our dline play this week you were kind of touching on the matching the intensity of Notre Dame on Saturday one of the things you had talked about in the locker room after the game was um just about how you guys have a by week after Notre Dame on Saturday is there more of an intensity during this week or do you see more of an intensity coming out on Saturday uh more or L I think the whole week it's like a a steady Crescendo of building up to Saturday and so I we had an excellent practice on Monday night uh turned around and had an excellent practice this morning so I like where our guys are at right now um and so now it's about the details of our work the rest of the week I mean what are the details of your position uh to get your job done your assignments um they have some very good blitzes Blitz packages uh they got a lot of defensive fronts so you know we can put a lot of film work in in into uh the preparation and then go out there and be excited to play and have fun um because once you get to Saturday it's you know what you're going to be is what you're going to be um but now to me we got two really good physical days of of work already done uh and in the bank and so now in the mental preparation uh keep polishing up some some different things uh from the game plan and then go execute what would it mean to the program and the Mac if you guys went on national TV on Saturday yeah I mean obviously we all know what that would mean right um so yeah I guess I'm not looking at it like that I'm looking like let's go play a game first and then we'll we'll talk about all those things afterwards um but I'm I'm I'm excited to play right we going to go in there and give it our best and play our best and uh we respect him and and hopefully after the game they respect us when you go on the road to a huge venue like this is the first time the guys set foot on campus right a couple hours before game time or do you get there Friday and kind of show them around a little bit so the first time they experienc the camp is not right before the game yeah no we going we going to uh get there Friday uh and and have a look at the stadium you know these kids are different right they want to take the pictures they want to do the social media so the the quicker we can get that done with on Friday the the better we can be on Saturday so we uh I think we have to be off the field by four o'clock so we're going to you know move things up earlier on Friday uh drive over there uh see the stadium let them take they their pictures or whatever that's just part of it now nowadays um and then obviously on Saturday we'll be locked in ready to play and with the huge crowd there and the noise does that make the helmet communication system even more welcome for this yeah I'm anxious to see that that challenge right you watch some games on TV and you see the quarterbacks putting the hands over the ears uh so you know obviously we have to you know be be ready for that um and and obviously we can have a number system as well uh if if for some reason the helmet communication we you know we were having a problem um but would hate to you know use a timeout because we didn't get a play call in so we have to pick up our urgency we used crowd noise um the last two days and then we had it blaring and and they executed uh well um obviously in the game right you you may T have a tendency to slow down just a little bit um but I thought for the most part they handled the crowd noise well um I I know the Fighting song they know the Dame Fighting song by heart now uh as many times as they played it uh so it shouldn't be a big deal for us on Saturday would you do any hand motions if you can't hear or yeah we we have signals if if for some reason he didn't get it uh and then we have you know um hand signals for for communication as far as getting the quarterback the number that he need so we the great thing about us we are a huddle team um so uh you know we have we use a wristband and so if he can't get it through the helmet communication we have other ways that we can get them the number coach you talked about oh goad you talked about the coach comom and the iPads from this weekend was there any trouble with any of that technology or anything that was a hurdle to get through over this weekend well the only thing uh it was it was uh it was sunny so having an iPad in the sun is a challenge so we we had to move our benches back a little bit so we can have a chance to see um see the iPad but that was the only only problem and then I think uh defensively um in the first half they were cutting out our communication off at 25 seconds instead of 15 seconds so we got to get it got corrected in the second half um but I'm not sure how in you know on defense they was cutting the communication off at 25 seconds and then last one for you here today um what is the most beneficial part about scheduling these high-profile games and then what is your personal favorite part about these big games well I think um you know it's a litmus test to see where you're at right um and so it's not going to be too many more teams on our schedule better than know the Dame so uh what a great opportunity we have to go out there and compete and and show where we're at and uh that should give us conf confidence uh heading into the conference season so um it's a great game to play I mean this these are the games you you live for uh National TV uh NBC and so I'm sure everybody's going to be watching these guys and like I tell them you score a touchdown don't do anything extra right act like you've been there before because everybody knows you scored um you know I was watching the uh LSU game and the kid got a he scored and and got a penalty and that changed the game right because USC came back down the next the next drive so we try to give those scenarios to our players to so when they end that moment you make an interception you you score a touchdown listen we expect you to do that um act like you've been there before give the ball to the ref celebrate with your teammates and then move on how big is the also like this game in North Carolina State recruiting wise he talked about new recruits and hey these are the places we're going to play if you come to Northern no it's a huge deal right um you know a lot of kids in our program you know came here because the opportunity to play Notre Dame and so from a tribal rer standpoint I'm trying to travel as many guys as we can uh to get them that experience right um of of seeing what it's like because we going to we're going to play other big games down the line and you want those guys to gain that experience that when they become players in our program uh they they understand what it looks like and how you how you deal with it and even future players too yeah no I we we always send uh the next four years of scheduling out to guys that we're recruiting so they they know in 25 we playing east teams and 26 we play these teams and 27 we play these teams and 28 we play these teams so your next four years or now as the NCA May adopt your next five years of playing these may be the teams that you potentially may play coach I'm curious going into a bigger game like this going on the road into a bigger game like this against a top 10 opponent is there anything different and feel free if it's goes against your scheme to answer but is there anything different you do with the coin toss if you win the coin toss do you take the ball first or are you more apt to defer that to the second half what's kind of your mindset going on the road and if you win the coin toss no we did an in-depth study uh this offseason about the coin toss every game we played in last year the team that scored first won the game so um but there are schematic advantages to deferring so you know we'll we'll we have a game plan meeting on Fridays uh will we take all things into consideration as far as the opponent uh style of play what we can expect all you know when sun all those things come into into play when making that type of decision and and you know we'll work throughout the week on on our game plan we'll see how we looking and then we'll make a determination on Friday uh coach I know this past game are you you guys weren't afraid to air it out I know Ethan was four for four three touchdowns deep down the middle uh but now with a secondary with guys like Xavier Watson Benjamin Morrison uh what your expectations going to be for him as far as where he want where he decides to you know attack no I mean you know we still have to be balanced I talked about being balanced uh in the off season uh that's important to our team uh when you have the opportunity to be balanced you can keep a defense off schedule um you can attack them in multiple areas and so they have a tremendous secondary we understand that we respect them um but at the same time we we have to find ways to uh you know create space to create separation where our guys can make Place anything else for Coach H today no questions today I got some in I asked one okay you ask your players have they seen the movie Rudy have they all seen that no probably wasn't born when Rudy Rudy was when I was young you know so I'm sure they a they not going to the archives to see Rudy I can promise you that what a great movie though I know you know do you have like a final statement ahead of because there's probably going to be a lot of traveling fans to the fans for supporting on the road yeah no uh certainly excited about the fans going to the game um you know after you go to the no Dame game come back to the next home game uh would would be my my sentiment um you know the more we can make this place a tremendous HomeField Advantage uh the better we play because it makes a difference um you see coach Freeman talk about uh Texas ANM and their home court home field advantage and how that energize his team and he wants to do the same thing at Notre Dame uh we want to do the same thing at husy stadium so yeah it's nice to go to these big games but certainly come back to Husky Stadium and and support our football team you have any tickets on for this thing or no that's out of my you know that's out of my warehouse yeah I don't need a ticket I'm going be on the sideline you had mentioned the Buffalo game though this schedule this year is a little different where you have that conference game wedged into your nonconference do you like it more like that I mean I know it's probably your first year but like you said right after the bye you go straight into action yeah I to me I really like the by week to be honest with you and how it fell out uh we know we got a Mach and buy uh later in the season um but for us it was a six week buildup uh four weeks of training camp two games and a bye and then we can you know assess where we are as a football team and the way it it mapped out is going to be perfect the first three weeks we've done a different schedule than what we would normally do in season because we had more time uh and so I like the way we've been able to prepare uh to give our guys some time to rest and recover and uh get them ready for Saturday so um having a conference game the third the third game which is our fourth week uh certainly is a a good opportunity for us but coming off a bu week I think we'll be healthy and ready to go uh for that game all right I'll give a c thanks every thank you go Huskies thanks coach thanks coach e all right we ready to go with the Husky players we have H tight end Grayson Barnes offensive Ed bus and defensive tle so questions for the Huskies I'll go first uh this for everyone you guys can go on whatever order you like but as some of the veteran players on this team that have played in these high-profile games before what are some of the things that you've been saying to some of the younger guys that haven't been in an environment like this Devonte uh yeah I mean honestly it's just another game you know um I don't think of any you know big like major power five team that we play is like crazy like Kentucky is just another game Nebraska was just another game I don't really want them to get like their um like nerves going you know cuz at the end of the day you know we put our shoes on just the way they do you know so EV uh I think that veto put it very well it is quite literally just another game um there's nothing different about it it's still the same amount of time just a different opponent uh the stadium might be a little bigger and that's about the only the only change yeah just uh follow up with those guys and and touch on what they said uh it's just going to be a bigger Stadium a little bit louder um fan base um music all that stuff and we've been preparing for that in practice so uh ENT last week Nan came with an offensive line that had six starts combined and now this week you guys going with a one more experienced defensive line just how do you think that Stacks up this weekend um ask the question again I'm sorry so uh last week n Dame went in with the offensive line that come back for six starts across across the line and now on I side you got one more experienced defensive line just how do you think that Stacks up this weekend oh yeah um I mean yeah our defensive line is very very experienced um and their online is a young group um but we're just not going to look past them you know just because you know they they got x amount of starts you know um we prepare uh throughout the week you know the right way how we do every week you know uh we don't you know change anything up just for the opponent you know we prepare the same way every week so um it's it's going to be a great matchup I just say Devonte I just say the D line played last week where you guys uh if anything looking to build build off of going into Notre name um anything looking the build out just more so uh technique stuff you know um just securing tackles don't miss any tackles you know um I mean just playing all around uh great husky dine football for all of you guys I'm sorry uh coach talked about how impressed he is with the maturity of this team NIU and the what that you've shown throughout the summer and August practices and all that can you kind of expound on that a little bit that what you've witnessed in terms of the maturity level of this team and the way you guys go about your business gr uh yeah I think that just has to come with uh you know 33 35 seniors that we have on the team you know we're very old um a lot of people lead by example a lot of the young guys are mature enough to follow that and and listen and you know follow our footsteps and and follow the hard way heaven uh it just simply takes a lot less effort in everything we do um when it comes from a team that's old and been here for a while I mean this is my fifth year at this program same as veto here uh it takes a lot less effort it's a lot easier to do everything and I think that follows through throughout the younger guys uh the Freshman find it easier to do stuff because the seniors know what they're doing and show them the way um me no U you know uh me and bus uh class you know we had what 60 freshman lot like it was a lot of freshman so we were one of the youngest teams in the country and now that you know this is our fifth years and whatnot we got you know a lot of maturity from those past four or five years you know that we've been here playing football you know so um yeah and then kind of the piggyback off that seeing players stay in the program for 5 years nowadays in college football is an extreme Rarity what would you say has been the most beneficial part about staying here trusting coach hammock and his staff and the hard way throughout your time here EV just the ability for all of us to mesh together um I know obviously veto on a much more personal level than I would you know a guy that just transferred in here uh he's opposite side of the ball but we've been through a lot of ups and downs with each other a lot of a lot of really crappy summer workouts a lot of fights uh and that that builds a really good roster really good team um with me um you know I came in uh as a walk on um and NIU was uh the first school to ever you know come to my school come see me just come in contact with me in general um and Coach ham kept his word on everything he said you know so that means a lot to me so you know he uh did what he did to get me here you know to take care of he put me on scholarship you know so I feel like you know what I'm saying it's just my duty you know to give back you know now I know like with the Ean performance this past weekend I know all five STS came from a clean pocket and so now you go to knowre Dame what's the message within this offensive line you know keep that performance and give him room to throw um as he go besides you know this is just another opponent or this is just another game there's really nothing else to say um just keep doing what we're doing we're a good experienced o line we know what we're doing out there we have good mesh we're all best friends with each other uh just kind of keep keep playing our style of game I'm sorry go ahead go ahead I was just going to say Evan just how does uh you know You' talked a lot about the uh you know the cohesion and then how um um in the chemistry on the team uh how do you expect that to kind of pay off going into Saturday both you know like on the field obviously but also in off the field in handling the you know the national TV game playing in that Stadium how does that uh you know chemistry and experience help you guys sorry can you say that one more time how does the chemistry and experience that you guys have kind of help you with both the not so much on the field stuff but also the this being a nationally televised game and everything like how does that chemistry and experience kind of help you guys uh I mean personally I find that like the the national televised games don't matter as much when you're there like it's a bigger atmosphere it's a bigger Stadium but like as a player on the field you don't notice like hey I'm actually playing on ESPN instead of ESPN plus today like it it doesn't in that sense I don't see it personally as an issue um I think think that like the when you say chemistry I just kind of take that as like the older groups on the team the the older players and they know that from experience as well I think that's what helps just for the offensive guys so uh last Saturday was Ethan Hampton's first start this season and with an offense that was geared to him obviously he came in in a couple years in the past but what was it like to see him perform like that and just how confident are you in him for the rest of the season after seeing a game like that um honestly it's just from how he worked in Fall camp in summer and you know all those extra throwing sessions I I wasn't very surprised uh he works he works his tail off um just like we all do and you know everyone's meshing together everything's coming together so I'm very confident in this play for the rest of the season uh yeah I mean I'm very very happy for Ethan uh obviously between like an offensive lineman and a quarterback that's that's kind of a a good connection um I remember when he came campus I'm granted one semester older than him but he does in a little bit feel like a little brother in that sense just because it's my job to protect him uh my parents are best friends with his parents they tailgate together it's it's fun to see your friends succeed it's fun to see the that aspect of it so to double down on that how important is it for you guys to keep him with a clean Jersey on Saturday 100% very very very important Devonte Riley Leonard is a guy that can dominate with both his arm and his legs um what kind of work have you guys been focusing on that far as you know he was a guy that kind of stayed in the pocket a lot on Saturday night what's your job to what is the goal to get him out of the pocket a little bit what kind of work has been done to maybe get him to scramble a little bit more and get him out of that pocket um Coach G has set up a game plan for the dline you know um to minimize you know all of his um athletic abilities um so once game time comes around we'll see now this person is going to be for all three of you so obviously with the Saturday this game you're going to have a TR noise it's going to be a big factor and for those who might not wear the Green Dot how do you think it's going to be just adjusting to any aut that might come while working against the noise Grayson um I mean definitely Ethan's going to have to walk up to the line you know scream a couple times uh maybe give uh the wide receivers on the outside a hand signal or two um but other than that it's going to be probably just as as loud as Braska was and I think we handled that pretty well um throughout this week of practice we've had the speaker blaring behind us and Ethan's done a great job of uh saying it loud and clear in the Huddle uh checking in and out of plays at the line screamage Evan uh it's just a higher sense of total communication whether that's verbal or non-verbal um like I've mentioned plenty of times the chemistry on the team we we've played a lot of snaps together we kind of know what each other's thinking we do a lot of film study together we prepare together we know each other's left and right both well uh it it should be just fine we've been preparing for it overly not too worried defensively um I mean I think we'll be just fine um you know coach Juni you know has that speaker like blaring loud nonstop during practice um and there's not a lot of Errors you know in practice with calls with uh communication at that so I feel like we'll be we'll be good with that very prepared Devonte this one's for you last week although you guys had a great performance you weren't able to create any turnovers how important is it going into a game like this to create turnovers and also get those third and fourth down stops cuz Notre Dame did uh they went on Fourth quite a lot last week yeah um I mean as a defense is always you know important for us to get turnovers you know that's that's one of our um you know goals that we want to do we want to create a a bunch of turnovers so with the game plan that we have put in for this week you know um I'm pretty confident you know that we'll begin uh some turnovers Evan Notre James defense was top 10 a year ago they were strong against A&M last week I mean when you watch film of their defense what just kind of jumps out at you about Notre Dame's defense uh obviously they're very good defensive front um they've recruited well they have big boys up front that have proven themselves well uh it's just one year one-on-one matchups and play our offensive scheme our our coaches are going to put us in a good position to do what we need to do and that's just kind of the way it's going to going to work we're going to do just fine Evan for you you go up against a a very deep and talented defensive line every week in practice and you're going to go up against one on Saturday what can you use from all your experience going against guys like veto in the past guys like James as Roy will and stuff like that to get you ready for this week um say that one more time please uh just they do a lot of rotations like we do on the defensive line so I just what is it going to be like cuz you're not going to always be going up against the same guy yeah kind of um I mean the film study aspect is obviously the big part knowing what their go-to move is knowing what they what their Tendencies are the kind of player they are uh but winning your one-on-one matchup is the most important thing at the end of the day uh it's it's me vers him and I'm not going to let him win uh this is for all three of you so obviously after d you got a B week before you open on that play against Buffalo how important is it to have that bi week right before you know he get into conference play where the conference record decides who goes to the championship game Devonte um I feel like the bar week is important you know um just to get our bodies back in uh you know Tip Top shade to where we want to be and then uh soon as MC play starts you know it's on uh yeah the by week definitely gives us a little more time to prepare for conference opponents uh obviously conference is kind of what matters that's Conference Championship is kind of the biggest deal um it'll be really good to have that bye just to have a little more time to spend on our opponent slow it down uh especially get some more Improvement practices in for some younger guys I I I like the by we it's my first time having in college I'm a big fan so far Grayson uh yeah definitely um like veto said you know getting our our bodies back um but not only that getting our our mind back and kind of watching film like buff said just a little bit extra on the opponent spend you know you can't over prepare for somebody so just that extra time uh definitely helps were any of you guys Notre game fans growing up and it was must viewing when they played a USC or a Michigan or something like that any of you um my mom T of the family are huge Notre Dame fans um but I told him uh I'm going give you tickets but you're not wearing nothing Notre Dame you know you're everything has to be ni you you know uh not really no person Rec growing up in Wisconsin we were more Wisconsin fans that's my my mom's all moer and all that kind of stuff so not really I mean it's always a big school with a lot of history but not overly huge Notre Dame fans no California who' you yeah same here um both my parents uh all moders are sax state so um that was kind of you know always watching the saak state UC Davis rivalry um you know a couple other big schools in California but um yeah no no Notre Dame fans and then this one I guess you could you could go for all three but it's a big game it's early in the season you guys your motto each week of the season is to go one and0 each week what would it mean to find a way to get a victory this Saturday uh obviously that' be really awesome um it would be a fun game to win it would be a very big program game to win um yeah want I mean yeah we're not going to sit up here you know act like you know if we win okay we just win you know we know Notre Dame is a good team you know we're just going to State the obvious um but coming out with a win would be like awesome definitely ni yeah it would be definitely you know um huge Victory huge Smiles another one for the Bone Yard um stuff like that so all right anything else for these gentlemen okay thank you everyone appreciate you guys good job you guys guys speak with Grace for
