you guys know me and holding Awards you I I'm not I'm not strong enough please please oh me yes thank you I'm sorry thank you so much oh my gosh firstly thank you thank you my Tigers this is such a big moment for Africa African music like guys the the global impact that water has had on the world just proves that African music can be pop music too yes like this is just so special but also bittersweet because I know there's a tendency to group all African artists under afro beat it's a thing and even though afro beat has run things and has opened so many doors for us African music is so diverse it's more than just afro beats I I come from South Africa I represent I'm a piano I represent my culture and I just want to shout out all the affr be artists in this category with me shout out TS Ira star shout out LJ shout out remma whis K bu boy all of us and yeah love you guys Africa to the world stream my album Tyler welcome back to my channel mother suckers hey let me first start by saying that I'm glad that Tyler actually cleared this up I did an unpopular opinion video and some of her fans dragged me a little bit but I said what I said Tyler is not an afro beats artist why is she winning afro beats Awards granted she's African but she does not do afro beats so shout out to her for making that clear I really felt like Ira star or Tims should have won in this category it's very similar to when black rock artists win hip-hop or R&B awards it's like okay I'm black but that's not my genre but Tyler is trending and she's been getting dragged for the last 24 hours child B make [Music] me people are saying that Tyler was being very rude and disrespectful to Hy Bailey saying that she wanted hie to hold her award but they both came online to clarify this Tyler tweeted y'all make everything weird I was not asking my girl hie we just girls STFU i w a VMA and hi retweeted and said exactly love you babes congrats so they basically debunked the whole narrative that Tyler wanted hie to hold her award but people are still dragging Tyler and saying that they just don't like her personality something about her is off she's an upid African Arman Wiggins tweeted hey I don't think I like Tyler's personality I think someone needs to check her cuz she doesn't understand American culture at all she almost gives off entitled or up African I don't know how to explain it but it's very off-putting and it's almost like she expects people to just fall at her feet the Tweet went viral and Tyler changed her bio to entitled up African y'all this whole can you hold my award turn into a whole diaspora War you got the African Community saying that y'all just don't like Tyler because she ain't Barefoot she doesn't have the poor African Rags to Riches storyline someone quoted I don't like Tyler and I can't put my finger on it it's called being uncomfortable with an African artist being popular in the mainstream that you think your favorite artist should be thriving in someone else said that when burnaboy acts confident he is the African giant when Tyler acts confident she is an up African and I kind of do agree with that but bur bnab boy gets dragged for other reasons but Arman was definitely right about one thing he said that she doesn't understand American culture absolutely because she's not American and she tried to tell y'all that and y'all also don't understand South African culture listen I was out here on maternity leave but I watched y'all drag that girl for Filth um she didn't I don't think she actually said she's not black but people asked was she black and she said that she was colored and that created a whole war on Twitter and I was just sitting back pregnant um eating pomegranate like wow yall serious and I do notice that Tyler was a lot more well-liked when y'all thought that she was black like when y'all assumed that she was black oh she was y'all fave when she came out and said I'm colored it confused the hell out of everybody and a lot of people actually took offense to this but that's literally what her category of race is called where she's from she's not black she's not white She's mixed and in South Africa that's called all colored what does it mean to be colored versus black or even both Tyler is in the news again after shutting down a conversation involving her race the South African Grammy winner was recently asked about the topic of colorism in South Africa on a US podcast this is a complicated one so let's break it down black and colored can mean different things in different places in the US the term colored has a problematic history linked to the segregation of African-Americans but in South Africa color is a term which identifies a community with mixed Heritage who have cultivated their own identity Tyler recently clarified that she has black Zulu Irish mortanian and Indian Heritage so in South Africa she's considered colored elsewhere she's seen as black because of her African Roots after the interview Tyler took to ex to explain that she never denied her Blackness and doesn't expect to be identified as colored outside of South Africa by anyone not comfortable doing so she further EXP explain that it's an and not or situation she's both colored in South Africa and a black woman it can be a controversial topic for sure but what's your take my take is that a blind man could see that Tyler is not black yes she's beautiful yes she's South African but she's not black and the fact that she's winning afro beats Awards when she's not an afro beats artist over actual black afro beats artist should prove that she's not black there was also a video of Olivia Rodrigo uploaded the 2021 VMAs where she said that the award was incredibly too heavy and she asked someone to help her hold the award and they did so heavy I literally have no upper body strength thank you oh my gosh it's beautiful and I know hi is nice and everything but she is the sister not to be played with she would not stand there and let Tyler just be like can you hold this like girl I ain't holding that I do think a lot of people took this moment to reinforce that they don't like Tyler because up African like what is given up African with this I could show you up the African but regardless of people saying that they dislike Tyler she definitely has a super solid fan base especially in South Africa but here in the states as well at the age of 22 she's already won a Grammy a Billboard Award two BET Awards and a MTV VMA and she only has really one song that's a hit maybe two but y'all let me know your thoughts I really wish this was a moment that we could focus on the fact that uh yeah she's not an afrob beats artist stop putting her in that category and give actual afrob beats artists these Awards but another distraction distraction after distraction y'all let me know your thoughts down in the comment section is the Tyler hate warranted let me know why you think she's getting so much hate do you feel like she was lowkey trying to treat them like the help and she really is an up the African do you feel like Americans stopped supporting her when she lowkey said she's not black or were you never a Tyler fan to begin with let me know your thoughts down in the comment section and I'll see you at the next one later
