produce at a very high level Paul has changed the Dynamics because you can't pitch around Jose Ramirez no you can't and he and he's another guy that's fun to watch he's he's kind of a bigger bodied guy but he runs the bases like he's a Speedster and I think he really can generate some offensive momentum not only with how he swings the bat but just the way he plays the game overall 20 now to to face a hitter three or four or five times you were trained to get him out different ways and now I think we optimize pitches to figure out how to get guys out but there's only one if you're if it's optimizing by definition it's the one best way to get a guy out yeah the in the flip side yes the the hitters make adjustments but the pitchers sometime overthink that now they're having to face a guy sixth good pitch you know one of the things that I I've really come to admire about biley as I've watched him go through this extended streak of consistency is the unpredictability of what pitch he's going to throw and what counts into what hitters pitch down and in explain what you're talking about we all know that he's got a really good change up it it gets a lot of big outs for him but there he's facing Ramirez for the third time and he showed him a change up but he end up showing him a slider and cutter and that fast ball that tailed back in on the inside corner I just think it's hard to think along with what Bailey's going to try to do on each and every pitch big swinging a miss him the change here it's one and one do you think the addition of that hard cutter of his or slider and his ability to to throw it for strikes has opened up the change up to even more effective I think for the left-handed hitters it's been a really big pitch just keeps them a little bit more honest from being able to dive out there misses in with the change it's two and one you know I I think about pitches that were difficult for me I don't like to talk about that too much but Mike massina I know he was a Stanford Grand but scrad but he just outsmarted me more than anything else nber back to the mound obber drops it fumbles it can't make a play oh and he spikes the ball down into the dirt he's Furious a little swinging bunt he made a great pitch a great pitch that ball was 32 mph skimming through the grass Bailey a long way to go to get down to planet Earth reached down grabbed it lost it grabbed it lost it again and he is fuming as he goes through the back of the mound well Naylor caught that ball right off the end of the bat and as bayy tried to backhand to the ball it was just meeting the point where the grass meets the dirt off the right side of the mound towards third base and he didn't feel it cleanly but then when he tried to go pack pick it back up again he dropped it warming you mentioned muen and you've talked about him before just that you could not figure out a sequence with him right like he would make things up on the Fly always different and not not everybody had the ability to have enough different pitches or sequence to do that but generally when You Face guys you know multiple times a year and over a lot of Seasons you kind of understand what they're trying to do but he was just one of those guys that always seemed to be a step ahead of the thought process almost like he could read my mind as to what maybe I thought I should be looking for and then cross me up with something totally different and I see and I see that with Bailey today too you know they know I we've seen some weak swings on the change up but guys getting tied up on that cutter getting beat by fast ball here's Lane Thomas and the first pitch that Thomas is in for a strike after that chat with Pete Mackey Thomas is twice bounced out to third Bas the first time hit a rocket second time just a little number Thomas spent some time with the Cardinals Nationals traded at the deadline to Cleveland we're looking for some offensive help from him and there is that hard
