it's been almost 11 years since paralympian Runner Oscar pastoris shot and killed his girlfriend Reva steam camp and her mother June says that they can never be Justice if your loved one is never coming back to you and last week Oscar Pistorius was released on parole after serving just nine years behind the bars going to be speaking to River's mother Jun in her first UK TV interview in just a moment June look our our condolences to you because Barry died in September last year you have suffered so much loss so much grief and and our hearts are always with you um I want to ask you first you have very good reasons don't you for wanting to do this interview this morning yes I have very good reasons because your program and everybody in it have always been concerned about me I am British and I feel very strongly that you know I came to do breakfast for shows during the trial and um you know you you've cared for me and you wanted to know what was going on with me and I appreciate that and that's why I'm doing this interview today thank you you've done for me thank you well we've simply been doing our our jobs to be honest with you but we're very glad that you you've taken it that way thank you thank you thank for sharing your time with us um two questions really what did you think when you heard what the was going to be and how do you feel now that he's out um I must say with him coming out without with him coming out it's he has to come out it's inevitable and I I realize that we cannot keep him inside he's he's do he's he's on parole now and it it's not going to make any difference to my life he's done what he's done already and I can't do anything about that and I've lost the most beautiful wonderful child and now I've been without her for so many years and I miss her every day uh that's that's the parole story but I mean he he's he's never told the truth I don't believe he's told the truth at all and he's never shown any remorse so I I don't I I have to accept that we have to accept the the the you know for the for the law to take its course and that's what Barry and I did but um I think my husband died of a broken heart he he he was very strange when he when he died he just went to bed early and he just passed away in his sleep but he could not live without our daughter she was the most wonderful person the most loving caring she loved us and cared for us so but uh it doesn't matter that he's out he's on parole because it's inevitable well you're right under South African law it is uh in this country as you know we have minimum sentences which have to be served but I suppose really what I was asking is do you think that he was given long enough in jail before coming out on parole no I don't no I don't believe no I don't it seemed pathetic initially when we got the six-year sentence from MGA and and you know I just felt that that she didn't that she was giving it was too little she kind of treated him you know like a child almost you know go home and be a good boy type of thing and it it was a big thing that he did I mean he he used the Black Talon bullets to kill her you and he could he should have known that that he would have killed her there was no hope for her after those bullets they go into your body and they break your bones so why would he use those bullets if he didn't in the first place want to kill her because he knew he was in he was in uh um she he knew that she was in the toilet because they'd had a huge argument or whatever junice it it's the details of the case are hly shocking because he has always said I thought there was a burglar in the house who was then in the toilet behind a shut door and therefore I fired through a closed door into that toilet and it's it's inconceivable that if you're sharing your bed with someone and you hear a noise in the bathroom that you would automatically think it was a burglar and not actually your other half I mean the story just has never stacked up no it's absolutely horrifying it is a thought up story I don't think by him but somebody it seems to me this is what I goes on in my mind that someone helped him with a story but the story was pathetic I mean everyone said that and and and and so insulting and I know that when your lovely husband Barry went to took the opportunity and it's Brave one to go and visit oscap Pistorius in in prison was he seeking was he seeking the true story from Oscar in a way that might nothing's going to solve the pain of losing Reaver but would it in some way have helped to know that Oscar said yes that's what happened I was Furious I lost my mind I did something awful and I'm sorry would that in some way have helped yes I mean he lost his temper he's got no control over his temper and he lost his temper because she said I'm leaving I don't want to be involved with you I mean her clothes were packed ready and everything so h i I just don't understand why he could have walked out of this place his property and he could have walked out in two minutes and taken her out of the building but instead he he he in the court he said to somebody but he thought he didn't say he's saying that to re he said he's saying to the B the guy in the in the in the the bathroom he thought was in the bathroom get out of my effing house at the top of his voice get out of my effing house he was speaking to reiva then yes because she was rejecting him he had he he sorry I'm sorry he he has of course history of losing his temper he's he's known for that yes um uh which was part of the case against him um can we just ask about you I mean you've lost your your dear daughter you've lost your dear husband and you must and you must face the future how are you going to manage well I have um I'm I believe in God and I like to think I'm a Christian I try to be a good person I love people uh and I love everybody um but I I think God has helped me and saved my life I had lots of friends who um lots of friends who stood by me you know like I said about you you people of being so wonderful to me and caring about me um and and that's what I I I'm 77 years old now and um I have I'm going to find a job keep keep me busy well God God bless you God bless you June thank you so much for for agreeing to talk to us about such a painful subject this morning and it goes without saying we wish you nothing but love and and good fortune in the years to come thank you thank you very much you thank you so much you all are love June thank you so much what a remarkable woman to be able to and and to be able to draw a smile at the end of such a difficult interview honestly J hats off to you incredible
