wait what are you celebrating is this Jamal Adam signing with the Titans or Greg burh halter getting fired by US Men's National Team our national nightmare is over the only time we've played this is when people get fired you realize that it's Andre Diller get getting cut from the Tennessee Titans it's Greg bur halter getting canned from the US Men's National Team though that did take some time I suppose we'll have to save that for Friday fire though because the news of the day is Jamal Adams signing with the Tennessee Titans now here's what I'll tell you the vast majority of the Titans Personnel people are not yet back in the building but as I mentioned people start to trickle back in after the July 4th holiday you start to kick conversations back up with players reps and see where everybody's at check back in healthwise check back in financially and ultimately try and get deals done before your team has to report to training camp and we are 12 days away from the Tennessee Titans reporting for training camp remember when JC leam got drafted and there was some initial hesitancy right because you heard plenty of draft analysts tell you that no he is a right tackle or a Right Guard it wasn't an overwhelmingly unanimous Allin on JC leam correct when he was picked at seventh overall to be this team's left tackle correct but I think there was sort of this gradual okay well clearly Bill Callahan wants JC lean to be his left tackle so there's this Blind Faith of oh we're going to follow Bill Callahan wherever he wants to go with this thing right and early Returns on JC leam have been you know no pads or anything but good is there any sort of similar feeling with dinard Wilson as someone who has worked with Jamal Adams who is being trusted to put this defense together who has been a defensive back Guru for the last few years a guru is he in the NFL is he not considered a rising star he is in the coaching business on the defensive side Lewis rck whose opinion I respect very very much former NFL executive himself and former defensive back himself who knows dard Wilson really well believes that dard Wilson will be a head coach sooner rather than later so will there be a similar feeling among Titans fans even if they didn't watch Jamal Adams and if you told them Jamal Adams yesterday they would have scoffed at it or made a face like you did when the news broke like you smelled something bad but will will there be a feeling of coming around I think that's my thinking face I think I'm trying to figure things out when I make that face will there be a feeling of after thinking about it well clearly dard Wilson stands to readon had something to do with this deal I'm going to go ahead and ride with whatever jard Wilson wants to do with his defense oh sure no I'm I defer to the defensive coaches on this because we have no reason to push back on it yet other than availability being the most important thing for a team whose players has been perpetually unavailable in the last couple of seasons and Jamal Adams is not a picture of health or at least he hasn't been the last couple years in his NFL career uh texting some people with the Titans organization basically the jus ification is it's cheap that's that's the feedback that I'm getting right now uh I also shot a text to coell to see if he can give us a little more uh insight and Analysis a little more further football detail than I might be able to provide you about the deployment and use of Adams as a player or at least the way that he has been used successfully during his time with the Jets and the Seahawks so as soon as we get a response there we will relay that to you uh EMT Jones by the way you can interact with the show Facebook YouTube Twitter and you can call if you want to react to Jamal Adams signing on a one-year uh financial terms not yet disclosed but again what I'm getting back from the organization is it's cheap so that in and of itself makes you feel better about any kind of expense that J Jamal Adams might count against your salary cap one-year deal cost effective those are the kind of things that you like to see and it's you know it's kind of in the mold last year's free agent class was different how would you describe Drive last year's free agent class oh gosh let me think that feels like it was forever ago aiz aler um Murphy bun Shan Murphy bunting Dillard key me Band-Aids yeah a lot of Band-Aids right bad roster bad salary cap situation lot of one-year deals let's see how many of these guys can get Prov it situations how many how much we can kind of like patch this thing together enough to keep it competitive enough that's what this is to you kind of like we're they they have a much more tenable salary cap situation so they were able to spend on better quality players to address the needs that they needed to they had the draft Capital that they had to address the needs that they were able to in the NFL draft as well and now we can get into the mode where last year was their primary free agency signings and I'm not listen zel share is a fine football player he broke the single season tackles record here he's probably going to thrive in Houston you're probably going to hate playing him twice the season for as long as he's down there in Domo Ryan defense which I know he's very happy about Sean Murphy bunting was a fine player he got I mean wasn't a great situation for him last year but he got a decent contract in Arizona Monty aen for clearly sees something in him that can help their defense right away as a starting outside corner so there is going to be some initial push back I think from some fans and most fans will probably take your position and say oh okay I defer to dard Wilson that is where Jamal Adams was last or was most successful in his career under dard Wilson with the New York Jets again that's been some time and many many injuries ago but the price point is whenever it comes out apparently is going to be tough to argue with okay so you say it's cheap we'll get the financial terms at some point obviously he's a fit in terms of what this defense's identity wants to be under dard Wilson the aggressiveness the physicality how he's used remains to be seen but depending on how cheap the deal actually is is it insane to think the Titans could still make another to move at safety no cuz they still have money to work with and Justin Simmons is a very different player from Jamal Adams very different player agreed it's not Beyond The Pale but it does make me skeptical that they would make that kind of move but again price point is is something that they can move and they can use both of these players like they can find utilizations for Jamal Adams and a another cover or a better cover safety than Jamal Adams because it's not just Justin Simmons out there even though that's the name that we continue to come back at michah Hyde has been a really really good player for the Buffalo Bills now he has also dealt with some injuries as a BL and he is longer in the tooth he's probably is he older than Justin Simmons do you have the free agent safety list in front of you is Micah hiy older than Justin Simmons Mah Hyde older than Justin Simmons uh Justin Simmons will turn 31 in November oh yeah Micah Hyde uh will turn 34 in December yeah he's much older so again when you've got guys like Tony Jefferson coming back into the league after several years for not playing and and competing for starting jobs with a team like the Los Angeles Chargers I don't rule a Micah hide out here it may be a more cost effective way to put together what they're trying to put together my point is it doesn't just have to be Justin Simmons um Dixie in the F&M Bank chat says Justin Simmons and Berard are the same age same draft class yes we knew that he said he probably wants the same contractor probably more than by again I don't know what Justin Simmons is seeking financially so I'm not going to speak to that Dixie who Mr or Mrs normas okay it is probably gender neutral so if a Justin Simmons type signing was made this would it would probably bring any Titans fan who's out on the Jamal Adams signing totally in oh yeah right because then the risk you know goes away of that being what you're depending on for safety depth and how they use them is critical too like that could totally change the conversation how they decide to use them which could be different from how the Seahawks utilized him the last couple years well and famously Seattle was not happy with the way that that defense was orchestrated because they made the move to hire Mike McDonald as a as a wave of defensive head coach hirings this off season and Pete Carroll's defense which had run its course or at least the way that P Carroll was running that kind of Defense had run its course in Seattle and they were looking at a bunch of talented players saying no we can do better than this because Seattle's biggest issue has been its defensive it's been objectively bad so I'm not going to pin all of that on Jamal Adams my point being you can you can always continue to add more depth this is going to be looked at this is probably look would you agree with this assessment this probably looked at as a bigger transaction than it actually is just because of his name yeah 100% 100% this like Adam schfer putting together getting an ESPN like actual graphic because Jamal Adams has played in the New York Market he has played well for the Seattle Seahawks which is a very popular brand all here in the last couple years that's where he was an all no excuse me all proo with the Jets as you mentioned but it's been a long time since he's been that and now he's a name I won't say more than a football player but his talent is not quite what his name indicates that it was at some point in his career oh yeah it goes back to his time at LSU too I to me Jamal Adams is the most famous defensive back on the Titans roster no Leger I think Jamal Adams is the most famous defensive back on the well he does have a lot of a lot of which it was erl Thomas that flipped flipped P Carrol the bird right after his last injur like he's getting carded off flips P flips the sideline the bird it's not Jamal Adams but I think Jamal Adams and Pete Carrol have had issues there sure and it wouldn't be the first time that P Caroll has had run-ins with uh opinionated players we'll say so that's not unheard of and dard Wilson may know how to manage the person that Jamal Adams is because he is a very very big personality on top of having been a famous football player throughout the course of his career I'll tell you uh one thing he's definitely the most he's definitely going to be the most polarizing figure on the defense of of any player he's going to be he's going to be outspoken there's there's nothing that you could and you know maybe you don't want to take that away from him at any point but I can I can IM I can foresee run-ins with Jamal Adams at some point in the near future they're adding they're adding adding they're adding a lot of big personality types in this JC leam has a big personality Calvin Ridley is very outspoken uh spear Pard does not but Spears definitely is like sweat is a bigger I mean he's a big human but he's a big personality as well it's it's just interesting to me to see the the juxtoposition SAT Word between John Robinson type players and Rand carthon type players because they are night and day different in my experience 61573 7145 is the number the second hour coming up next we'll continue to react to the Jamal Adams news also speaking of Titans news Chris Johnson cj2k is going to join us at 11:20 uh he'll do so on Zoom so if you haven't
