the Kalin deor show is brought to you by Coke Zero sugar tackle game day with a great taste of Coke Zero sugar is it the best Coke ever try and decide Ford the Ford F-150 helps make your game day Traditions bigger and better season after season the the is a home run Guy this is the guy burn needs to go after kayin debor Alabama are on fire just absolutely on fire B getting a great one getting a a guy who's just flat one everywhere he's been he has a system in place but with Alabama the SEC recruiting everything he's going to have at his disposal going to be a problem for a long time for a lot of folks welcome everybody to our second edition of the kin D'Or show presented by Truck Works our first in studio and first after a ball game and Coach congratulations on your first win as head coach of the Crimson Tide didn't mean to leave you hanging there 63 to nothing the final I won't say no doubt from the beginning but your team really did take control from the start yeah it was it was great uh we emphasized starting fast and uh you know some takeaways and punching it in when you had good field position I was really proud of our team to where where we just came out and and uh did what we needed to do to to get a good jump and get that momentum get the crowd into it and really proud of uh a lot of different guys that went out there and made plays a lot of new faces uh on both sides of the ball uh both young and old uh and uh you know really really cool to see these guys go out and enjoy the night get a lot of players out on the football field I'm sorry that the walk you're first with your team uh down the walk Champions wasn't what it will be later on coach and what it would have been otherwise without rain falling about 3 hours from kick it fourstar radio pregame inside as well but other than that man a pretty special first day as head coach yeah no doubt uh and even the walk was amazing appreciate everyone who was out there in the rain uh being there a part of it and our guys know that that's a special time really kind of sets the tone and gets their gets their minds uh thinking about what that energy is going to be like in the stadium and uh just all all the stuff around the the the stadium and and the fans can't say enough about what it felt like in there uh something I know was it was a lot of fun for our guys to be a part of let talk to you pregame your guys were ready to play you were ready to see your team play and it seemed like they were able to lock in and be very businesslike as they were approaching the stadium and starting this ball game obviously you could feel it last night the focus you could see it uh this morning and this afternoon just in the walkthroughs and the things that we do both sides of the ball coming together uh you could in the locker room just a you know guys really really excitable uh both players and staff and we took the field you know you do worry sometimes about that energy and the emotional piece uh but I thought we really honed in on and uh took advantage of it and um approached it the right way and use it to our advantage let's talk about the game a little bit and in that first half in particular questions from many in the preseason about what your defense would look like and Keon Sab showed that it'll be a defense that can take the football away as he got a couple of picks early yeah he was you know he's just a really Savvy guy out there uh has a good feel of what we're trying to do and it showed up with a couple interceptions being you know really anticipating in one of them it looked like he was even there well before uh the ball really you know NE was thrown and so uh lot of trust you know that's what playing defense is all about is is knowing where your help's at knowing where you need to be and and got trusting each other and I think uh that was that first one especially was a a big part of that uh the second one you know when any time a teams moving down the field and you know you can keep them from putting those points in the board board even if it's a field goal uh and then flip the field like he did with uh the the run after the interception uh that's those are just so huge and Keon I'm really happy for him because he's came in with the right mindset uh the guys just really you know have grown to grown you know he's grown on them and uh adapted so quickly and it was fun to see him have the success yet tonight so the defense gets tested I'm not sure I've seen a 22 playay drive before that didn't end in something but 22 plays on their final drive of the first half coach and the defense turns them away really really allowed you to put that thing away late in the half I didn't I didn't realize it was that many drives until you just said that but I did look at the time of possession and knew that there was a there had to be a lot of snaps that were being played and you know I think that the thing about playing defense is making people earn it and that was a great example of just making people earn it and if yes you want to get off the field you'd love to have a three andand out and when there's third down opportunities uh fourth down opportunities you know let's get off now and we'll learn we'll figure out those things that we could have done better when those times came up but you know just the grit and just you know just not not giving in you know I love that about what they what they did there and uh they made they made Western Kentucky earn everything they had and sooner or later you know that there's there's a time where you got get a chance to get off the field and they did that in the big play explosiveness of your offense most notably for me right after you stopped them on 22 plays it only takes you two to put it in the end zone and any hope they had you could tell kind of when any of their will was kind of taken away at that point yeah that's what you know great teams do and I'm not saying that that's where we're at yet but you know it's a great sign to to see uh the offense take advantage of the things the defense does and and uh vice versa and that was a big part of what I was happy with tonight uh where both sides got their opportunities and fed off of the great play of the other side of the ball and that's what team football's all about all right coach as we head to break we're first going to take a look at some of those first half highlights again on the kayin deor show presented by truck war look they'll fire and that's going to be picked off intercepted quarterback he no Ro touchdown Alabama gets the snap steps L fires picked off again again now he will look fire catches made into the end Z mil with time looking 20 10 touchdown Alabama fires across the middle catches made Williams two catches two touchdowns coach 42 to nothing at halftime curious what the message was at the break to your football team and your thoughts for what we saw in those first uh first 30 minutes yeah you know we got in a locker room and and I love the mindset of our guys you know I talked about how they just you know not settling for being mediocre and I didn't even have to I didn't have to say it you know they're talking about how it's it's zero zero at that time and we got to go out there and be our best and every snap uh we continue to get better uh I think there was there was a lot of things that we knew in the first half we still could could clean up uh whether it was uh some penalties holding calls that we had against us that that slowed us up a little bit yeah we might have overcome a couple of them uh but those are things that we just need to keep working on for some procedure type things uh communication uh in all areas uh and I thought the guys really honed in on that we did a better job in the second half uh and so you know adjustment wise it was maybe you know just you know understand that we have uh we have an opportunity to do better with our execution than what we did and um you know one thing that's interesting the the tablets on the sideline you know there's there's a lot of information that I thought we did a good job of getting in between drives both sides of the ball and just seeing and hearing the communication that's happening as I'm flipping on the headset uh I I thought we did a really good job considering it the first time we've ever had something like that right from an overall standpoint you want the win first you want want to be injuryf free I know but you also especially as you have a 42 to nothing League at the half you want a clean start to the second half so that you can get more guys in how comfortable with you were you with that taking place and also what did you see from from guys that didn't start the game but got some snaps in that second half yeah I thought there were some really simple things we could have done better uh maybe the first offensive Drive coming out of the locker room challenge the guys to do that but that's you know that's that's there's some stuff too that was different pictures and and we can learn from it and um we did as the game went on when we got those same same looks again so uh you know it was great getting a lot of players on the football field and I think especially when you think about and we got to get there first but you think about a long postseason possibility uh those snaps do add up and so getting uh some young guys in there uh playing a quarter uh or more uh that was that was really great for their experience their development and growth and US understanding what they're capable of and um you know just Bright Lights being on and and getting a chance to to to to go do their thing but uh just kind of also taking off those snaps from from some of the players uh that we know we're going to need for the long haul all right coach let's get into the second half highlights it's each side milro keeps it himself milro inside the 10 milro Dives did he get in he did touchdown Alabama and the tide roll 18 quarterback ke and Simpson bounces it to the edge Simpson 10 five Simpson tripped up just shy of the goal line boy looked like he was going to get there firing and the catch is made a beautiful throw and catch that is Jeremy Bernard the Junior from Los get in he's very close and yes he does get in for his first Alabama touchdown back again is Riley they'll hand it off to him no it'll be a ke for Simpson right side 10 five touchdown Alabama coach I'm not sure if there is a number definition of efficient for a quarterback but as I glance at Jaylen milrose numbers for the game seven of nine 200 yards passing three touchdowns and then you throw in another 10 rushes 79 yards and two more scores as well that's pretty strong yeah I thought Jaylen did a nice job of uh taken advantage of the things that were given to him I thought he was very decisive always a read here or there that we would have liked to have seen him do a better job with but that's that's going to happen and uh he was really out there I thought playing confidently uh and deciding when he was going to run or throw uh understanding what he's capable of I thought he really manipulated the defense whether it was the reads and it was a pass and and going through that progression or the times when he maybe escaped the pocket or stepped up and you know pulling the defense to him and throwing it and the next time them dropping off and him taking off and getting those yards with his legs and that's uh something that you know separates him from pretty much the rest of the country when it comes to being a great quarterback great quarterback great young man great leader for your program let's learn more as we go all access with jayen milro my name is Jaylen milro I'm from Katie Texas and I want the over D tongas High School milro tuck it runs lot 4540 foot race 30 20 10 five touchdown Alabama I think the quarterback position is a unique position because you embraced a leadership role before you even take it on and so you know I like that aspect of it just the leadership role that it comes with it and also just allowing you to be a servant leader in a in a way so my dad actually you know taught me the position um the p position and uh it was an opportunity for us to build our relationship and have also you know a relationship with football and also just bonding together so um yeah so I think that was just a great opportunity for both of us I'll say it's a unique experience with being coached by coach Sav and now the transition to coach D'Or um definitely fortunate glad I was able to have a chance to be coach by the greatest coach of all time now with Coach dor it's something special to be the first team under him and have the opportunity to grow and Lead under him um embrace the role of being a Star Quarterback feed in University Alabama the state of Alabama we're playing for each other we're playing for our families and we have a bunch of stuff we playing for and also you got a you know uh put in the mix that we're playing for a big bigger purpose each step of the way during the season is going to catapult you to your long-term goals so it's a awesome feeling to have the opportunity to run out with your teammates and and uh you know especially at home it's awesome so it's just a great feeling to have as a player just playing for our fans the fans are part of the athletic department for Alabama you know at the end of the day we're playing for a crowd of people you know and and as much as you pour into the university and pour into us we'll give you the best um shine as possible for us on our end we're going to prepare hard hard um and we're just going to try to strive for excellence in a sense so um we're very passionate about y'all we love y'all and we just want y'all to pour you know pour into the to the crowd this year and get bran in coach we've already talked about a lot of numbers and uh great debut for the offense which means I'm sure that your offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan's probably going to sleep well tonight well he's also going to sleep well because he had to go from the box to the field and back up to the Box in that first quarter uh with the whole headset thing and and uh Western ky's going down and how the rules uh force you to have to take your headsets off and you know that's it's one of those things you just don't know how long that's going to happen and so uh we found a way to get him get him down there quickly and that's not easy in a big Stadium like ours but uh he called that first series on the sideline uh with no headset and there's a lot of communication that's got to happen even amongst us uh getting the right players on the football field so can't say I've ever had that happen ever uh in all my years of coaching and probably I guess maybe don't understand how much it does happen but I thought he just did a great great job of being composed uh staying the course it really didn't face him and as the game went on I thought he just did a great job of communicating with his staff communicating ating with the players uh staying the course sticking with the game plan um and making the small adjustments that were needed he has obviously been uh a big part of what you're trying to get in place at the start of your stay here at the University of Alabama let's spend some time getting to know more about the offensive coordinator of the Crimson Tide as we go Mercedes-Benz all access with Nick Sheridan I'm Nick Sheridan I'm from Michigan and I went to the University of Michigan my favorite uh memories as a player were certainly the relationship ships you know that I had with my teammates and my coaches I think that's um as you get older that's what you look back most fondly on was the relationships that you built and the friendships that are still strong to this day I chose to play football uh certainly I grow up as a coach's kid you know football's been in our household as long as I can remember and so I don't know if I had much of a choice it was just something that um you know my older brother played and and when you're a younger brother you want to do everything that he's doing and so uh my dad being a coach my older brother playing you know it was very natural and very easy for me to get involved in the sport I think certainly um you know my decision to become a coach was certainly impacted by my dad um and not his influence as much as me wanting to be just like him become the type of coach that he became I certainly had goals and aspirations to be exactly like him my family is amazing my wife is Sarah we have three beautiful children Bo Sloan and Heath and um I'm extremely blessed and thankful and uh I love them very very much I think the challenges of being a coach you you need somebody like my wife Sarah to be there to support you um to do an incredible job with our children and you know she's been a complete Angel to me in my life and does an amazing job um supporting me on my dreams and and and the journey that that we've been on together and she's an incredible mother and um I just you know feel so thankful and blessed um that she's my wife and and that that we found each other and that we're raising our family together I think my message to the fans was just how thankful and appreciative we are that um we're at a place that has such passion for the sport of football in the University of Alabama and um we're lucky to have you and we love the support we love the passion we love the energy we know you know it's going to be rocking and Bryant Denny and and we just can't wait and we're just so thankful for you you guys have been amazing I know our players are so thankful to have such a supportive fan base and a group of people that are right behind them and we feel that and uh we can't wait for the fall coach exciting it's our first time to get to see you teaching on the video board as we go with our cbns play of the game yeah you know uh it's it's third and 13 so not the situation we want to be in but uh you know it was an exciting play and it was uh the first touchdown I think even the first catch for Ryan Williams so uh you know wanted to talk a little bit about what we saw and you can see right off the bat we got a lot of lot of players right up here on the line of scrimmage and uh we got as you can see five or six to block and they got uh they got six coming and sorting it out is is uh not as easy as it looks but I thought uh communication first of all starting with Jaylen you know making sure everyone's on the same page you can see uh communication going on up front here with the offensive line both Parker and uh book doing a great job and uh love love what we're doing here Eyes by their tail back everyone's on the same page uh they' showed it and they bluffed backed out of there and uh really played coverage you know and when we're running a vertical concept like you're seeing here uh the quarterback's got to go through his progression a lot of times this ends up in a checkdown type of play defense is just going to try to keep them keep you in front of them and uh find a way to get off the field but uh you know we had practice this throughout the week knowing that we might get uh in this case a corner that may uh not drop to the depth and may us have the chance to run by him I see uh in the slot receiver here number two uh a guy doing a great job um you know germ running right past the the safety and and really working to his landmark and through the inside of the safety and drawn that coverage towards the middle of the field which allows Ryan to be one-on-one and I love what just see here with Jaylen you can see from the from the behind shot that he you know gets into his drop and there's a rhythm to what he's doing I love where his eyes are at uh he knows what he knows what he's looking for uh got a deep drop knowing that there's going to be a full pass rush uh setting that depth in the pocket and then stepping up two hitches and balls out and so timing is a key thing trus in your offensive line him putting it right on the m and then Ryan doing you know what he needs to do you know look at it in first and and understand that you can't go anywhere without the football and finding a way to score his first touchdown here uh as a member of the Crimson TI football team so exciting time for everyone love the love the way the fans got into it and uh just uh you know great execution at an important time on Third and long coach we get a chance to talk about another night game hopefully rainf free uh so we enjoy pregame a little bit more but what's next is South Florida and that's a 6:00 kick on ESPN yeah and uh you know last year is last year this year is this year this is a the 2024 team but we certainly know you know what South Florida is capable of and uh you know uh pushed us to the Limit a year ago uh going to bring in some great talent some great you know skill and uh we got to be ready to play and this is you know place where we're always going to get the opponent's best shot and uh you know the guys will be excited none of these points that we scored tonight I reminded them in the locker room carry over to next week so it starts over z z uh they're determined uh to to have a great week I can tell already and build on what we did tonight 63 to nothing again the final in your debut as the head coach of the Crimson Tide not being greedy we'd love to see a similar result next week South Florida coming in coach thank you for the time appreciate it as always we thank you for joining us and we'll see you next time here on the kin dbor show presented by Truck Works
