like it something new for 2024 it's been a while I'm happy football is back finally what have you been up to so far this summer well we're almost coming to the end of it here yeah I know so the thing the first thing is I'm wearing a Texas hat that's a that's a new thing for me as well as as well as you so made a a little bit of moves in the in the offseason here so actually moved from uh Richmond Virginia to Dallas Texas so the uh the intro song isn't as uh accurate as it used to be we're not in the uh Center of Virginia at this time well yeah Frank is I'm still here I'm missing you though so that's why we're have having to do this long distance yeah you should have seen us last year we were never on camera but we were sitting basically on each other's laps to get this thing filmed because uh using one microphone seemed a lot easier than using two so uh this year hopefully to have a little bit of better uh quality when it comes to the the microphones and then uh gonna try our hand at putting this on YouTube uh and filming this and giving some great content out as well as we'll be able to make some uh short clips of of the uh episodes and and posted on things such as Instagram and Tik Tok and uh everything like that so feel free give us a follow at gamblers Gazette on uh on Instagram as well as Twitter and and Tik Tock um so all these clips will will be throughout there and then our our picks of the week as well so um before we get going I heard you had a couple of additions to your family oh yeah yeah I'm actually an uncle for uh for the first time and uh and Frank over there is yeah twice I uh my sister had twins and uh yeah and Frank is a great uncle so he's now the legendary great Uncle Frank to make a a little bit of an edit there to the to the podcast haven't met the babies yet but can't wait to looking forward to it visiting them in Georgia visiting you in Texas visiting wherever we go so yeah so if you started before we get into it started any fantasy preparations any leagues you're in for the NFL this year yeah definitely so I'm in the in in the first one that's going to take place tomorrow actually recording this on on Wednesday it's going to take place on Thursday um it's it's exciting got the 10th pick so just started my research uh yesterday into today a little bit and uh we'll we'll see what I go with you're in my league so I can't really share too many secrets with the 12 pick right behind me that's fine because I can't share any with you well I got the 12th pick unfortunately but uh you can share some with me you can you can rule out some people there's so much talent though in in the lead this year wide receivers deep tight ends deep this year we got a good uh list of quarterbacks so it's it doesn't seem as pressure-filled being on the end of the draft um so we'll see what happens I'm excited I'm living in a town now for the first time that has a football team so I'll be able to to get to some of these games and and actually what football team is that the the Dallas Cowboys unfortunately the Nemesis of the Philadelphia Eagles which we are both fans of you better you better stay a fan of the Eagles I'll stay an Eagles fan but you know I'm big Virginia Tech fan uh but you know Texas I was on their campus a few weeks ago and it's their logo is so nice their colors are nice I had to I had to get a hat and send you one as well oh and I love the hat you know me and my white hats unfortunately hopefully the next podcast I'll get my lighting a little bit better because it's a little washed out but uh yeah when I when I got it in the mail last week I was extremely happy and uh I appreciate it yeah definitely and I'll be uh I'm uh between uh fort worth and and TCU and then Austin and SMU and and all these schools I mean even going all the way up to Oklahoma State in Oklahoma I'm I'm just a few minutes away from from all these campuses and I'm jealous because I mean we love football ab and I almost if I wasn't in fantasy football for NFL I'd almost enjoyed College more I enjoy watching college more I only check NFL out to see how my fantasy team is and the Eagles of course absolutely but you have at least three or four big colleges within less than an hour from you and like you said you were up in Oklahoma last weekend and you went through Norman I don't know if he got as far as Still Water for OSU but not quite yet but but yeah and saw a couple of minor league baseball teams as well so oh and and you live right across the street from the Dallas Maverick Arena so that that's crazy and the stars and the stars and the Stars so I'll be coming down there for a flyer game there you go anyway enough I guess of the banter I just wanted to let you guys know where we've been the last uh nine months and what's been going on and uh like I said happy to have football back we have a slated games coming up on Saturday and let's kick it off yeah just let let's just get started with with a little bit of a not a recap but that uh that Georgia Tech versus Florida State game was crazy um absolute upset off the off the bat and for the first time out of this year I could mess up DJ ug ug andel's name uh gosh and saying that uh he uh he did not have a quite a great game and and didn't uh look excellent to start off the season I mean he looked decent enough for a team that was playing in like a a week that is not typical and and things a little bit off but um what do you see from Florida State moving forward well I saw it at T of two games in the same game FSU came out right away drove right down the field uh did a swinging gate two-point conversion to make it 8 nothing and it was maybe 4 minutes into the game and we're like well here comes DJ's uh start at FSU and you know he's gonna have success and then uh Georgia Tech locked him down um I mean great defense uh great job on all those guys part um and then the kicker kicks a clutch 45 yard field goal as the time expires to win 2421 that's a game fsu's got to win though number 10 in the country a lot of these games with the exception of a few we'll talk about their teams really good teams that should beat really bad teams I mean we have a slated games a lot of FS FCS and FBS schools playing this weekend um a couple of those games we'll talk about um but that's a game you have to win if you FSU and you're you know have your transferred quarterback starting his new journey and you know you got to win that game absolutely I were they ranked too high I don't know I really don't know it's a tough game I mean the game was played in Ireland so there's really not much of a Home Advantage for either team just won the game and had off to them yeah I I would say um another thing just coming off of last year where they had the the Heartbreak of of not making the uh the playoffs and and everything like that I think they were really looking to start strong and it almost ended like it almost started like the season ended last year they were flat um just almost in their feelings for for their team and everything like that so we'll see we'll see how they continue throughout the year they they can still with I think they'll be fine I I mean it's a it's a game game not quite a measuring stick I would hope to their season yeah you don't know where travel came was involved going to Dublin but Georgia Tech had to do the same thing so no excuses there like I said it's a game you have to win but Georg Tech did enough to come out of it with a win and uh great job on their part yeah definitely all right let's uh let's move into our uh our games of the week this week um just so everyone knows the format is we will typically go through a recap of what happened last week we'll go through um all of our picks we'll pick nine games usually nine to 10 games uh per week so we'll we'll do eight games and then we'll do uh two over unders um for both college and NFL of course since we don't have NFL starting yet since we're just getting into that fantasy draft uh we don't have any of those games to pick this week but we'll do a recap and then we will uh get into our picks for the week so without further Ado getting into this week's pick uh with game one we have uh Clemson versus Georgia um which is actually that's a game you would typically see in the midseason I mean that that's a that's one of the best games of the weekend probably one of three or four yeah definitely yeah pulling up into into this uh we have uh Texas is or uh Clemson right now is a uh is a 13 and a half Point Underdog here um so what do you seeing in this one and what do you think what do you think the outcome is going to be well the Georgia here's Georgia they lose eight guys to the NFL yeah six of the eight go in the first three rounds and they the first guy off the board was Brock Bowers the tight end that went to the Raiders who his projected have a pretty good year this year in the NFL but they had have eight of the top 300 actually the top 150 ESPN that signed with them mostly on the defensive side of the ball couple of guys coming in on the offensive side but it's here come these great commits these these five star fourstar athletes that are committing to Georgia they lose eight guys they get eight guys they're still at number one I think Clemson gives them a good a good uh run for their money it's a 13 and Half Point favorite but uh yeah I I don't know I Georgia at home High Noon in uh Athens I like Georgia to win this game I don't want to say pretty handily well do you want to talk about a score now or do you want to like recap and do a score at the end save that for we can talk we can talk about a score now we can go um over under 48.5 I think we could start there and work our way backwards um to look to see if we think they're going to cover the spread or not so why don't we do over it's always hard on over under these early games cuz you act you don't know what these guys have yet I mean it's but yeah but you you said that the defense is looking good with some some great commits do you think that the defense is able to hold down the the fiery offense of of Clemson or I do I do but I I see an under 48 and a half in this game um maybe like a 3113 game yeah yeah I I tend to agree with that I think that defense is going to be uh so strong against Clemson and you know Clemson does start a little bit slow at the beginning of some Seasons yeah so I I I think that Clemson uh is I think they're GNA uh keep the game under 48 they're going to assist in that but I also think they're going to uh cover the spread I think this game is going to be within that 13 and a half points it always gets tricky uh when we get into that because it's that that 14th Point that's always on the borderline but personally I do think that um Clemson is able to cover the spread Clemson or Georgia Clemson I think they Clemson is able to stay within 13 and a half points stay see I I I'm I go with that 3113 which is obviously more than 13 and a half so I'm going to go Georgia to cover at 13 and a half and the over under I'm taking the under okay so we have a little bit of a disagreement there but a little bit of agreement as well little bit of a disagreement but that's where that's where I love when we talk and debate and so I I love when we're different yeah all right next game is Penn State at West Virginia yep West Virginia is a uh eight-point favorite or an eighto uh Penn State is a eight-point fa favorite yeah currently Penn State gosh I Pen's an eight-point favorite and they're also eighth ranked in the country I was getting my eights uh mixed up there how do you see this game playing out you know I I I definitely think that the nitt lions are going to win this win this game but I don't think it's going to be by more than eight I think West Virginia is able to uh to cover here um keep this game pretty close I think it would be a completely different story if this game was going to be played at State um but with this being in West Virginia the hype of game day uh not the show but game day in general being in uh in West Virginia I I definitely think that the Mountaineers are able to stay within eight wow okay yeah you bring up the uh being the game being in morgant town it's the first time in 32 years the game has been played in Morgantown wow that's crazy Penn State has Drew AR coming back he threw for 25 touchdowns two picks last year they improved that wide receiver um West Virginia was good last year don't get me wrong they were nine and four and they beat UNC in the depleted UNCC Team all the injuries in the duk's Mayo Bowl last year but I I like Penn State going in West Virginia don't get me wrong it's a tough place to play but I I like Penn State covering here one of those funny that minus8 yeah but I'm going to go Penn State here yeah I don't know we'll see I think that it's going to be a lot closer than people think you got to remember we're picking a first week game here so um it might not be the most accurate picks or anything like that but it also might stay closer than a lot of people expect if you're if you're betting this week then you definitely have a opportunity to to make up some ground on other weeks because other weeks we kind of know what's going to happen or see the idea of of what going happen in the trends that we're on but um this week I definitely think you have some some room for upsets West Virginia yeah death definitely I think will keep it close for a while I mean the crowd the crowd in West Virginia is going to be hyped for the game first first game since 1992 there uh but I think Penn State has a little bit too much Firepower I think uh Franklin's going to open up the offense this year a lot more passing uh like I said they had a good commit come in uh at wide receiver so yeah give me Penn State and the minus eight all right let's move on to our next game here uh like I said at the beginning big Virginia Tech fan I know I'm transitioning into a Texas fan but right now big Virginia Tech fan uh and they're set right here to to uh be a 13 and a half Point favorite uh I definitely think they're able to to cover that 13 and a half I think we're going to win by more than 13 and a half uh and I think we're going to um we're going to get this one pretty handedly yeah uh Virginia Tech coming in on after a great second half they had a really really dismo first part of the season last year but then went on to win five of their last seven games and went bowling in January or December yeah um yeah I hookies 22 starters returning 11 11 on offense nine on defense or uh actually 11 on offense and 11 on defense for the 22 the quarterback's coming back all three uh running backs are coming back five out the six wide receivers are coming back that just tells me this team is going to gel they're they're going to they're going to keep doing what they did at the end of last year and hopefully continue to get better they're the team has been playing with each other for a long time and yeah I van Vandy the the redheaded stepchild of the SEC 2 and 10 last year yeah Virginia Tech 13 and a half and it should be pretty easy yeah I really like Kiren drones and and his ability to pass as well as run uh I think he's really gonna pick apart the really pick apart the defensive VY in in a first week having that ability to escape escape with your legs um when you can't find the passer if someone runs a wrong route as they learning The Playbook uh I definitely think is a unique opportunity that Virginia Tech and Kiron Jones uh holds definitely yeah I like Ken drone uh good good passer uh yeah give me Tech give me Tech all day long I mean Vandy did have a does have a uh transfer quarterback Diego Diego fava from the Mexico State it's the aies in the Mexico state that he transferred from I I I he might be going there for the graduate program Vanderbilt's really good school so yeah someone who's actually in uh someone who's actually in school for school exact what a con Vanderbilt's one of those well probably the only SEC school where I think ath or uh academics is looked at more highly than Athletics but anyway all right let's go to the next one next one will be we're gonna let's see well now let's just do this one this is kind of a HomeTown pick that I pick for uh well Michael and I but now he's in Texas it's UVA and Richmond it's an FCS goo against UVA um UVA kicks off their 135th season wow and yeah and this is the first meeting or the first meeting Richmond and UVA had was in 1893 uva's 30 and five in the series um they got both of their quarterbacks coming back or 99% of the pass yards are back I think they I forget who I want to say mullet or musket or whatever his name is should be the starting quarterback I I I just brought this one in it was kind of fun because it was Richmond and UVA and Charlottesville and Richmond hate each other so I think it's the first time in I think in since 2008 this is only the second or third time uva's open up on the road W so I don't think that'll make much difference give me uh give me UVA it's a minus 18 and a half Point yeah definitely I think UVA is easily able to to cover this I wish I was uh back in Richmond to go and watch this game but UVA is just is just going to be too strong uh too strong Kyle um I don't know if I don't know who they're who are they naming do you know who they're naming at quarterback for UVA yeah are they gonna do Kyle or are they gonna do Camden Coleman what is what's the last name of the two guys have W uh Wickers sham and and Coleman uh for the quarterback for Eva yeah I believe so no is that let me see I know I thought it was some guy named musket or something like that oh musket yeah musket is the quarterback for I'm talking about Richmond um oh Richmond I don't know the Richmond's quarterbacks okay I don't I don't follow FCS my a good friend of mine runs a podcast uh FCS Nation uh that does all the FCS stuff I I stick more with FBS but I just brought this one up because it's a local local thing that I wish you were still here but make yeah for sure I uh yeah that just goes to show you if we don't even know who the quarterback is for for Richmond if they're still deciding at this point uh it's just going to be a hand of win for for UVA and I think they're G to win by 21 so I think you're definitely safe taking the over 18 and a half or taking the spread at 18 and a half and we can really move on to the next one what do we got next next one South Dakota State and Oklahoma State yeah Oklahoma State's a nine-point favorite couple of stats or a couple of nuggets here Mark gronowski or gr rowski uh quarterback for South Dakota state is just a winner the guy South Dakota State's 29 and0 in their last 29 haven't lost in 29 straight games the quarterback for SDSU won the Walter Payton award last year which is the equivalent of the Heisman in the FCS um 3,000 pass yards 37 total touchdowns their defense gave up only 9.3 points a game last year and also one oh yeah by the way their second straight FCS Championship in a row which by the way is in Frisco Texas which that's down the street from you now too definitely that's real close actually that's yeah Frisco is real close yeah now with that said OSU is a power are they a power five school this big 12 I I These Guys these schools move around so much in their uh conferences I don't know who's in what conference anymore but Gundy will have them ready to play but don't forget last year in the middle of September South Alabama came to Stillwater and absolutely annihilated Oklahoma State 337 now not the year I but see I don't think they'll let that happen because they're going to respect South C State I don't know what happened last year it was an anomaly or whatever in that game but let me tell you what Gundy better have this team to play ready to play or this game is going to get out of hand quick yeah but with that said the spread is nine I I think South State loses but I think they keep it within that nine points I'm looking maybe 272 3 nope no chance um yeah I think Oklahoma state is going to crush uh South Dakota State there's no chance with as good as uh oi Gordon is there's no chance that uh Oklahoma State even stays close or South South Dakota State even stays close to Oklahoma State I think this is going to be an easy win it's going to be a march on to the next one I think this is going to be a game that um isn't even really talked about moving forward will be one of the only podcasts that covers it next week once we go through our recap so uh let's have Oklahoma State winning by at least nine closer to 14 maybe 15 really okay yep their running game their running game is way too strong there's no way that a defense is ready uh for this especially in FCS an FCS School defense there no way they're going to be ready for this this offense I would probably agree with you there I think there's 133 teams in the FCS I would agree with you maybe if 100 and 31 of them were coming to Oklahoma State I may I may side with saying North Dakota State might have a shot as well the dtas I like the dtas um but I I think Oklahoma State wins but I think South Dakota State's going to hang so I like it we disagree again so we'll see who's R next week yeah Alli g i Gordon's a hopeful to win the win the Heisman so if if he wants to get a hot start and and get his stats p added for the rest of the year he needs to start strong and I think he'll get that start here and that's the Oklahoma State quarterback yeah running back running back running back okay yeah all right you're up what you got all right so we're moving on to the next one here this is going to be uh I believe it's Fresno State at Michigan is our next game here and right now we got Michigan at a minus 21 Point favorite here uh I definitely think it's going to be settling in period we we've see a change in coaching we see a lot of things going on in their uh in their locker room and uh getting their themselves refocused after winning the national championship last year so I and also a stealing signs Scandal Scandal yeah that's that's I was referring to in general with the stuff in their locker room and I think that's even getting crazier at this point there are pictures of this guy blending in with coaches and uh on the central Michigan sideline using uh cameras in his his glasses allegedly um but I I definitely think that there's a little bit of drama around number nine Michigan uh in their locker room so well the new coach who took over I guess was interim coach for the last four games of 2023 and took over I think he was part of it oh of course you don't think he how could he not be yeah yeah so it it's GNA be interesting but with that said I mean Fresno State is Not By Any Way a slouch I mean if if Fresno State of maybe five years ago was coming to fres state was nine and four last year went yeah went to a bowl game pretty high powerered offense um they're not going to be intimidated yeah they're I mean 110,000 hostile fans at nighttime drinking their booze and Ann Arbor that's a that's going to be a rough crowd I mean Fresno State hasn't seen a crowd like that ever so I I think this if you look at stats from last year year and I think it Michigan when they were 20 or 21 Point favorites they half the time covered and half the time didn't I think this is the one of these games that I think I have Michigan Michigan's going to win handily but I think Fresno State keeps it under 21 absolutely 100% agreeance with that he 21 is a lot of points and I think as we go into a new week and a new season of college football uh it's easy to get caught up in the fact of how much better a team is than other than the other and I think it's easy to also forget how hard it is to beat someone by 21 points that's more than three touchdowns so for sure I I think that this game is going to stay closer than that 21 points but even with that being said an 18-point Victory or even just a 21 on the dot A push is still a pretty handed win um but definitely I think Fresno State's able to stay close enough to cover yeah Fresno State's one of those teams too they they used to be in the former whack the Western Athletic Conference which is Aid out and they have a good quarterback Mikey Keane who's thrown three thou or threw for 3,000 yards last year 24 touchdowns 10 picks that I mean those are pretty good numbers for them to stay close they're going to have to play mistake free football I mean he can't be turning the ball over I'm not quite sure how much Michigan lost on the defensive side of ball on up the ball but they lost their quarterback to the Minnesota Vikings unfortunately got hurt and is out for the season McCarthy um yeah but I mean Michigan Michigan's GNA win the game it's it's the first game in the new era coaching error these guys are going to be out there and wanting to win for the new coach but like you said at the top I mean just a lot of drama um yeah they're going to win but I think Fresno hangs with them all right let's let's move into our next one there um you want to lead us into this one yeah is this our final one already no I got two more what do we have after oh we do okay uh Notre Dame Texas A&M very very intriguing matchup yep yeah Mike Elco who was the Duke head coach last two years coming over and playing his first game at the uh 12thman Texas A&M um 16 to9 at Duke he was the defensive coordinator for Texas A&M back in from 18 to 21 and then went to Duke for two years and now they have them back I guess jumbo Jimbo jumbo Fisher Jimbo Jimbo Fisher yeah Jimbo yeah I always say jumbo I don't you've uh you've gotten that name wrong nine times today I I have I before I think I was saying fish jumbo you know what we know what we're going to do next time you uh next time you get that name right and we're going to go through and we're going to add a little bit of cheering nice hey you know what I'm impressed for we should have some cheering for you is the DJ ug ganday oh oh yeah there you go give me a cheer for that anyway getting back to the game um Notre a has the Duke head the the Duke ex quarterback yeah coming to play his first game for Notre name so we have the head coach from duke playing his first game for Texas A&M and the ex Riley Lenard quarterback for Duke coming over and playing his first game for Notre Dame so should be interesting I'm sure these guys will be meeting on the field before the game that's going to be a lot of emotion before the game I think well Texas A&M's a minus three shocking shocking a little bit in my opin I don't think it's as shocking as most think um I would have thought this probably would have been more of a pick them game maybe a point Notre aame yeah they're looking at the new coaching era I think they're extremely happy to have Jimbo Fisher gone he was he started become a nemesis and a cancer on the team absolutely they're still paying they're still paying him by the way and they're still paying them yeah they're they're happy to have this new guy they're at home it's a night game I mean they're known for the 12th man the fans are absolutely probably I don't want to make anybody mad but probably AR arguably the best loud crowd absolutely per person get 110,000 I know they don't have that like Michigan does but I think they can get just as loud um then you have Riley Leonard coming to play for Notre Dame yeah I mean how does he fair in his first game he stay healthy I mean it's it's not Duke anymore yeah I mean you're playing for probably the Dallas Cowboys of college football right I mean this is probably the most well-known team in the country it's interesting to me to see Notre Dame with some transfers I feel like they've uh you haven't heard too many of this whole transfer portal thing of of people going and leaving Notre Dame you know it's funny you say that cuz I was going to bring that up after we talked about our games the TR and I and we had talked about this during our podcast last year about having some uh checks and balances in place yeah and obviously they must have listened to our podcast because you don't see as much transfers as many transfers well you want to know what the you know want to know what the checks and balances is for Notre Dame in the transfer portal and this one might shock you um but you think it would be more common in in college football but that that check in balances um the academics what a concept the actual School in getting into the the classroom is the biggest checks and balance when it comes to this transfer portal because not just anyone can get to go and play at at uh Notre Dame they they have to meet the the requirements both on the football field and in the classroom so definitely think that it's it's a ultimate check and checks and balance and I think a lot more schools should adopt this oh and I agree too and that's why I I I kind of made the comment earlier about the transfer guy from New Mexico State going to Vanderbilt being a graduate student yeah because it's like I mean these schools I mean unless unless you're Stanford I mean Stanford is just or Notre name I mean that's a good point I mean on the flip side of that you could also say you know your your schools that are less academically inclined and more athletically driven um that's where you see a lot of the transfers you know what I'm saying but you haven't really heard I mean last year it was like 10 guys it seemed like a week or transferring and now I know that's an exaggeration you do most of it at before the season starts but it was just one guy after the other oh this guy went to the portal this guy went to the portal and it got to be where really yeah and I was and we speaking of one portal you got DJ going from Clemson to Oregon State to FSU in years and I just I I don't know if that's these guys just want to get their feet wet in different conferences and have different regimes and maybe different play calling or different ways they're going to run the offense and then when you get hopefully picked or drafted in the NFL you're more polished right I I I to me I just don't understand why guys would leave if they committed to a school now this is just me and I know there's a lot of what are the things that that the they get the money from what do they call that nil deals nil deals and that's a big part of it and all but you never heard of any of this and I know they didn't have a portal when I was younger but guys committed to a school and you played four years there's I mean I I can't imagine a coaching staff giving up time and effort and I know that's a business as well and I know they don't look at it like that either but it's almost like they they give up on their team and and it there's no sense of you know guys loyalty there's no sense of loyalty anymore well even but like it it extends Beyond college football it extends into the workforce in America and in general there's no there's not really any loyalty and you know it it's not the worst thing in the world because you're going to someone who treats you treats you the best if you have the opportunity to get more nil deals with so name name image and likeness deals can happen no matter what school you're at you could be a famous person on Tik Tok and you can get name image and like deals irrelevant to whatever school you're at but if you go to that Clemson and you have the opportunity to to get those deals I I almost say why not but at the same time it you have to realize it does put your coaching staff in a really poor position and it really gives you less of an opportunity to develop as a player and learn a Playbook but if you're okay with with put putting yourself ahead of your team a little bit and to make that to make that money I definitely think that it's on you so I don't think it's necessarily the wrong thing to do but it definitely does put coaching staffs in a in a in a bad position oh but I agree I agree because it it it it's it's human um the way we think as like you said it's not just Sports it's the workforce and the workforce is a little different because you know you want to do what's best for yourself and your F like see these guy these kids I mean 99 don't have family like they I guess they still have parents and all that that they could help out with money and stuff like that because a lot of you know people might come from a poor background I get that but I just I just I don't know I just like loyalty and I like where a guy stays with a team and it's just while we're on this subject I think another part of it while why it came to where it is now and you don't you're not hearing as much is that big egg on your face thing that happened at the end of last year with that kid from Alabama all right I mean the kid from Alabama I forget what school he transferred to and then he got some sort of money or whatever and then transfer back to Alabama yeah and and I don't I don't know whatever came of that I don't know if he got to keep the money or or the NCA got it back or what but I I think that was one of those things that and I'm sure they were trying to get checks and balances in place before that because they I'm they're seeing it out of control as well yeah but that was like oh hell no that's not going to happen again there's also checks and balances that are coming from from States there's some states that haven't legalized nil deals yet or passed the bill to allow players to receive those nil deals and just if you if you're coach in that in that state or coach in that City you're just out of luck you your players have no motivation to come there so um those top tier athletes are are just uh moving beyond that but you know we can get off our high horse and we we don't know what we would do I think it's I think it's good discussion I mean it's something that's a valid point and that we're just seeing you know across the board I think I'm not going to bring politics into it but it's it's just it's just something that we see in our nation where you know you never know what's going to happen tomorrow or that's how I feel sometimes and you're trying to put yourself and your family in the best position that could be another way of looking at it I think I've changed my opinion three times on this conversation because I get I get it I do I I I can see pros and cons for both sides I I I love loyalty because that just I guess that's just the way I was brought up and that's old school that's just the way it happened but then I also understand how Society is changed and we in a way different Society than we were probably even 10 15 years ago forget 30 or 40 right well so anyway what do we have on the docket on the next game let me make our pick on this one knucklehead oh do we forget to make our pick all right what do you got all right so I think we're GNA go with um not I think I know what we're going to go with we're GNA go with Notre Dame winning this as a pick them or as a straightup win here um I think that moneyline win for Notre Dame is is definitely fitting I think Riley Leonard is able to quiet the haters quiet the bookmakers and um and actually pull out a win on this one yeah I mean ND has an elite o line the new quarterback and like we talked at nausey him last year how this kid had a bad ankle and I'm sure he's I mean Notre Dame he's obviously passed a bunch of uh the eyeball test the health test the physicals and all that so I'm sure he's fine the player they wouldn't put him out there I'm going with an UPS really not an upset because I guess their favorite in the game but it does feel kind of like an upset at a minus three um I'm gonna go A&M winning this game and covering oh wow well I guess we'll see winning by more than a field goal um all right let's move on to the last one we have uh we have JMU versus Charlotte this was a when we went through we made our our spreadsheets and we made our analysis and we we made our picks what games we're going to go through this one was a little bit closer until literally today in a couple hours before we we started recording uh the coach for Charlotte came out and basically said Hey We're not gonna win this game and we're not gonna make it close basically yeah nine guys nine guys hurt and and I I forget the coach's name for uh Charlotte but he apologized for uh work hurting his team working his kids too hard I guess see f that the hard way but with that said I I I mean jmu's also starting a new era of football here uh as you know uh Signet their coach I don't know how many years he was there um who did a great job got promoted or got a new job at Indiana brought several guys from JMU to that uh to the hooer state I think has some graduates too yeah I think not quite sure who went there I I think their quarterback McLoud some guys on the defensive side of the ball um and they got Bob chzn he's a' been in the a head coach 15 years came over from Holy Cross so his error starts on Saturday I I I don't think it much mattered if if JMU or if Charlotte had all those nine guys I I think jamu goes in there um what is the spread in this game it's nine and a half I think there's no way that they even keep it within nine and a half no no JM goes in there and and I mean now with that news coming out of Charlotte today go in there and cover but like I said I don't think it would have been close even if they had a full Squad to play or is Charlotte playing posum no like if char it was play imp POS it still wouldn't matter because I said if the eight or nine guys were healthy still it doesn't matter J covers it goes in there pretty easy um they do have a lot of new a lot of new faces uh but I think they're too tough yeah I agree I think uh as much as I want to play devil's advocate for uh for Charlotte I I definitely think that Jamie wins and Charlotte is a much improved team I mean over with their starters yeah few over the last few years I mean they've they've I mean they were they were awful yeah and over the last few years they've gotten better yeah um I think I think yeah JM wins a spawn by at least 10 oh yeah I it's simple cover I don't think it's even that close yeah absolutely all right I got one surprise pick for you what you I got uh going back to South Dakota State at Oklahoma State what do you have 54 and a half is the over under I got to go under really I I am going under I like South Dakota States well here's here's the flossophy on that it's 54 and a half yep South Dakota State oh 54 sorry is either gonna go in there and stone them with the good defense of less than 10 points a game yeah say that they're going to score less than 10 but I mean be go who's going to score less than 10 what's that you said who's going to score less than 10 no no I said I'm not saying south or Oklahoma State's going to score less than 10 that's that the average they gave up last year 9.3 I'm not saying that but having a good defense solid defense lot of guys returning yeah and OSU is one of those Jackel and HDE teams I think I I played them or or use them as part of a parlay or or a straight win up game last year like six or seven times and I think they covered once yeah they're one of those teams they're just they're Jackel and Hyde for sure I I I I so the the uh the good defense and the great quarterback 29 game winning streak I think they're going to hang close I I I think it's a nine did we say nine points for that game yeah nine y nine I I think South Dakota State covers that I I think they keep it under nine yeah with this the over under 54 over under I'm still saying under W I'm going like I said we made the pick we may have to pick earlier but I'm saying well they're going to win by well more than nine and I think they're going to score way more than 54 give me a score 42 [Music] um let's say 35 uh 14 well 354 is 42 14 424 4214 you're still low am I it's 56 no you're good 54 yeah yeah 424 4214 y okay all right and and and it very well could be I mean I could real wrong but that's what makes these that that's what makes it fun yeah it could be wrong if I was always right I wouldn't have it have to work I'd be going be doing pole all day long yeah yep so uh I
