hi guys and welcome to another episode of kabia considers in this video we're going to react to 10 of the most awkward presidential debate moments ever so we all saw the you know the debate between uh Joe Biden and Donald Trump a couple of weeks ago and you know there was just so many moments where I just thought oh my God this is just going so badly you know I would be if I was I have to be honest it was mostly Biden who had a lot of those awkward moments just because he was forgetting himself a lot his train of thought he would just Trail off or he would call people the wrong names it was just it was really awkward but he's not the only person like you know Donald Trump has also made um errors as well in in in uh debates where he's used the wrong names in reference to people and things like that and going further back it must have happened you know before you know like Mitt Romney and Obama there must have been moments like that uh you know Bush Etc so this video is going to be quite fun just to see you know a lot of those moments it's going to be fun but it's going to be pretty cringy too I think he's very likable I I I agree with that I don't think I'm that bad um you're likeable enough welcome to watch Mojo and today we're counting down our picks for the most awkward ridiculous or just plain confusing moments in a US presidential debate we're including general election debates and primaries I just won two Club championships not even senior number 10 we finally beat Medicare Biden versus Trump 2024 there is no doubt that the June 2024 debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden is one for the history books with many moments you have to see to believe my son was not a loser was not a sucker you're the sucker you're the loser one real doozy in this roller coaster ride of a debate occurred pretty early on when Biden was asked about the national debt he started well enough discussing his tax reform policies and their potential impact on Healthcare but seemed to lose track about halfway through he mumbled something about Co paused and put his head down before declaring that we had beat Medicare whatever that means everything we have to do with uh look if we finally beat medic here Trump was of course quick with a rejoiner that was later repeated by critics after the debate who questioned Biden's ability to continue as president I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence I don't think he knows what he said either number nine age or inexperience Reagan versus mandale I mean what can I say about that clip that hasn't been said already you know I just it's like he's still in there Biden for sure but you have to admit he's he's slowing down a lot a lot whether he still got enough about him to be president that's the question during the 1984 presidential election 73-year-old former governor of California Ronald Reagan was essentially asked are you too old to be president is there any doubt in your mind that you would be able to function in such circumstances Reagan's response flipped the question around highlighting his experience and strengths and his opponent's supposed lack thereof I will not make age an issue of this campaign I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's Youth and inexperience like the seasoned performer he was Reagan then took a drink of water to let the moment really land with the audience in the end not only did rean win the election he had one of the biggest Landslide victories in United States history if it was not for the elders correcting the mistakes of the young there would be no state number eight B yeah from what I've seen of Reagan he just he knew how to work a crowd he know how to tell a story there was a a story once he told about a chicken that was it was really really good I think he he just had that that spark didn't he full of women Obama versus Romney when asked to address the issue of gender pay Equity Governor Mitt Romney focused on his efforts to increase the number of women in his cabinet he described receiving quote Whole binders full of women as he searched for candidates I went to a number of women's groups and said can you help us find folks and they brought us whole binders full full of of women while he had been referring to resumés stored in ring binders his phrasing made him sound less like a governor filling a cabinet and more like an overe excited teenager going through a Victoria's Secret catalog the phrase garnered massive attention and quickly became an internet joke with Obama referencing it on the campaign Trail I've got to tell you we don't have to collect a bunch of binders to find Qualified talented driven young women ready to learn and teach in these fields right now all this came just minutes before Romney and Obama's gripe over the latter's response to the 2012 Benghazi attack and if you want to know more about that just get to the transcripts want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of Terror get the transcript number seven what are these Soviets of which you speak Carter versus Ford an important ingredient for having a successful debate is I mean Mitt Romney I remember that election I was I was at University I think yeah and he seemed the first one I mean in 2008 was it Romney he ran against Obama gosh but yeah anyway Romney yeah he seemed like a decent guy I I don't think I had any kind of dislike for him or there was any sort of question marks about his character just a decent dude getting your facts straight and your ducks in a row a lesson Gerald Ford learned the hard way during the second presidential debate in 1976 Ford was asked about Soviet influence fluence in Eastern Europe his response there was none a factual fallacy given the ussr's reach and the large number of Communist governments in the region at the time there is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe and there never will be under Administration even when asked again by a rather incredulous moderator Ford doubled down on his response describing some of his visits to specific European countries I don't believe uh Mr Franco that the Yugoslav consider themselves dominated by the Soviet Union while some say he was simply reiterating US foreign policy that all nations are free Nations the fumbled response made him appear ignorant and is widely believed to have cost him the election and the United States does not conceive that those countries are under the domination of the Soviet Union number six I mean even if you are just repeating the policy at the time all you got to do is look at a map you know the USSR huge SES of Eastern Europe and pretty much all of it was you know at least a lot of it was under the control of the USSR it just makes you seem like you don't know geography really will you shut up man Biden versus Trump 2020 four years before the aformentioned Medicare debate Gaff Joe Biden was a presidential candidate trying to encourage people to vote the fact of the matter is I beat Bernie Sanders not by much it was a job made infinite Ely Harder by Donald Trump's consistent interruptions while Biden initially tried to ignore the buzzing it became too much and he clapped back eventually yelling at Trump to shut up just this radical left you sh listen who is on your list the duo then started to argue over each other as the debate devolved into chaos forcing Chris Wallace to go from moderator to kindergarten teacher in an attempt to restore order that was really a productive segment wasn't it keep yapping man the people understand this was essentially a recap of the 2016 presidential debates with Anderson Cooper having to repeatedly chastise Donald Trump for interrupting or talking over Hillary Clinton it's just not true and so please you didn't delete allow her to respond please personal emails not 33,000 number five it's getting hot in here can I mean the the when they talk over each other I mean it doesn't look very civilized but it is entertaining isn't it it is versus Nixon the first general presidential was held in 1960 between vice president Richard Nixon and Massachusetts Senator John F Kennedy it was also the first televised debate giving voters the historic opportunity to see their candidates live and what opposing figures they cut Kennedy was relaxed confident and Dapper Nixon was sweaty unshaven disheveled and uncomfortable under the lights I have had the opportunity to make recommendations which have been adopted within the administration I mean he looks sh's mother reportedly even thought he was ill after the debate interestingly enough voters who only heard the debate on the radio without seeing the candidates actually favored Nixon demonstrating the importance of good stage presence the president only makes the decision all that his advisers do is to give Council when he asked for it maybe there's a parallel universe where Nixon wins that election but in this reality the television viewers win out and a Nixon presidency does not come until 1969 it is essential that a man who's president of this country certainly stand for every program that will mean for growth number four what time is it again Clinton versus Bush versus perau this moment is another example of why your mannerisms during a debate are so critical when asked a question about the impact of the national debt during the second of the 1992 debates bush first looked at his watch before essentially asking the speaker to repeat the question I'm I'm not sure I get to help me with a question and I'll try to answer he then bumbled through an answer that somehow shoehorned in cancer and teenage pregnancy without really responding to the heart of the matter I don't think it I don't think it's fair to say you haven't had cancer therefore you don't know what it's like this was in sharp contrast to Bill Clinton known for his public speaking skills who gave a clear concise and heartfelt answer while Bush later explained that he would get rather uncomfortable during debates the damage was done and his campaign was significantly weakened number three getting personal Bush yeah Charisma it really really it's it's so important I mean it can get you really far like I I genuinely think if you've got two people who you know one of them has a lot of Charisma and isn't that competent at his job the other one is a lot more competent and has no Charisma honestly you can probably get further in your career just being able to you know be charismatic personable it's so important isn't it and you know popularity contest which is the president presidential election essentially it's going to be key versus Dukakis Michael Dukakis had a successful political career as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and then its Governor when he decided to run for President in 1987 he successfully won the Democratic primary but struggled against Republican candidate George HW Bush who often criticized dukakis's liberal view on issues such as the death penalty journalist Bernard Shaw decided to test dukakis's death penalty opposition during the 2 1988 presidential debate by asking whether he'd support it if someone sexually assaulted and murdered his wife would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer while Dukakis gave a valid response most viewers believed it too emotionless and played into his already robotic reputation I don't see any evidence that it's deterrent and I think there're are better and more effective ways to deal with violent crime his campaign never recovered and Bush went on to win the election in all fairness to duus though what kind of question was that and so we just have an honest difference of opinion uh I support it and he doesn't number two I think it was a good question to be honest I mean it's a great question like Anyway sigh Bush versus Gore if you were to ask people what they took from the first presidential debate between George W bush and Al Gore they wouldn't say a clever Zinger or a strong answer instead it would be the Sigh heard around the world it's 1.3 trillion Mr Vice President it's going to go to everybody who pays taxes I'm not going to be one of these kinds of presidents that said you get tax relief and you don't the former vice president was caught exasperatedly sighing and shrugging his shoulders multiple times while Bush was speaking in a word you have a problem with that yeah why haven't they done it in seven years the moment was heavily parodied by talk and comedy shows and capitalized on by the Bush campaign with their size and lies ad campaign Gore managed to keep the in a lock box after that and perform more strongly in future debates but it was too little too late the dam is we all know which of these two men became the president and I thank vice president Gore for a contest conducted with spirit and ended with grace before we continue be sure to the size man you know when like at the intermission his team were like stop sighing subscribe to our Channel and ring the bell to get notified US Department of oops the Republican Presidential primaries one of the most memorable moments of the 2012 Republican Presidential primaries came from Texas Governor Rick Perry during the ninth Republican primary debates Perry eagerly declared his intention to get rid of the Departments of Commerce education and oh darn it what was that third one again Commerce education and the um what's the third one there let's see Harry froze and even with some help from the sidelines and a second chance from the moderators he simply could not remember giving up with a shrug and an oops I can't the third one I can't sorry oops the blunder quickly went viral complete with its own SNL impression and Perry soon dropped out of the race what's the third one there uh got away from me oops that elusive third Department was the US Department of energy which Rick Perry would ironically end up leading just a few short years later no way it is a it is a real honor for me to be here uh to be president Trump's nominee for the Secretary of Energy what other embarrassing or absurd moments from presidential debates do you think should have been on this list let us know in the comments below yeah a lot of um I mean there it's high pressure moments really high pressure moments you know that millions of people are watching at home they're going to be you're under a microscope everything you say every movement you make is going to be scrutinized so I I get it you know it's making a mistake here or there it's completely normal a lot of people would just completely melt under that level of of scrutiny but you know when the stakes are high you know this is it pressure makes so you know you've got to be able to stand the heat if you can't maybe you're just not cut out to be president thanks for watching guys and I'll see you in the next one
