don't have a very good English there so I will try with what I have that is this don't don't worry no is it I'm I'm not asham it's 2024 nobody judging anyone now I I think I have um better English than most of our last presidents of uh the government so I'm fine wait to see my Spanish okay then um welcome everyone to the presentation of uh Le DFI uh that's the last thing that I will try to do in French it's here um for the people that um they don't know um legography for the Spanish it's like the Mund today but H in France um they are more important and more bigger well I don't know if more important but you are more bigger than us I I didn't look the number before we I I came so I'm going to trust you in that as you are the ER yes we will say that just uh to make a good too for you then um Sebastian is Le founder of the legography uh and I think um that presentation is a bit a good opportunity to speak about the differences from the Sati in sat satire in different uh places um I don't know I think my English will um be easy to follow for the people that it's not in English speaker um for you you you can do it in French with a problem and the people can do the translator later I'm going to to De both because there are a lot of French people in the room tonight yeah a lot um well it's um we were uh waiting for the rain uh for several months and the day that you come here to make the presentation then rain so thank you uh I will come and I will come every time you need rain I'm here just call me I take the train and I perfect uh I I will do it well um first thing I don't know if you want to say um some thing about uh the presentation or or you want to present it yourself or oh your presentation was great uh my name is Sebastian I'm 46 46 and I great gy in 2012 so it's uh 12 years from now uh the internet was not the same that today and it's not and it was it changed a lot in 12 years it's amazing [Music] the first form of was on social media it was just a Twitter account I was all by myself and I I run the Twitter account for almost six months by myself and then my associate Pablo Mira some people make know him joined me by September 12 and we start working together for like five years in a row so but the first six months I was all alone and first it was the Twitter account and then it was just a Blog and then I created a Facebook page and then after that a real website with a real uh um construction it was a serious business but the first it was just a Twitter account with no one on it I about I have zero follower and the it's funny because I never talk to anyone that I was running GFI even my brother never know I was doing GFI until like uh the end of the year like 10 months later at Christmas he realized I'm running the GFI is on brother is running the graphi and he know the grai he heard of it and he was like my brother is doing the [Music] for it's very long work to um to create an image on the internet on the social media uh we have an expression in France we said R didn't made it in one day it's very long it's hard work to get what we are when where we here now it's interesting because um lundo today Mund here in Spain it's made differently we make first the web page well we chav and Kik they made the web page the newspaper to sell um like the project and then they put it in social media so they do it differently it's it's h interesting because um they thought first in with the paper and you made you has one at each year of anuary yeah yeah we made one book every year uh for since the beginning in fact it I think it's the our 11 or 12 12th book and um every the first three book were a compilation of the best article and then uh we got a new editor and he wanted to make original book so we made a fake encyclopedia uh a fake um daily routine like Canda we made a fake country GID about the the French country GID but the people wanted back their article because when I was in a book book fair a lot of people take the book and searching for the article and they have to explain no no it's an original book there's no article it's a it's a Sati of a Countryside guide or it's a Sati of an encyclopedia so they were a little disappointed they wanted their article and um so we we came back to the original formula compilation of the best article and it's something I I never understand why people are going to to to buy a book for something they can read fre on the internet yeah it's interesting and last year we sell all the book all all the book were were gone it's it's interesting because here in Spain um we have the editorial um the books sell less I think because when I'm I I travel to France um I always see that the culture of the book it's more um it's more big and it's more uh easy to see different things um here the Mundo today it will be no it's it will be impossible to sell each year the anuary you know they have three books but the compilations each year it will be impossible to Ser I think it's [Music] for it's a French tradition to have an object related to the website yeah a pres it's because you have well in French you have um a strong sa tradition um in news in newspaper in in magazine like uh chal hebo or harakiri for example um and here we have eles that it's a bit different it's not so har Sati satire sorry um do you do you think um sometimes in have your newspaper physically yeah as you so all the books maybe made a newspaper in physical it's a lot of work think about I have think about it I have think about it but it's so hard to make and the it's very very expensive the price of the paper just Skyrock yeah last year and there are a few newspaper in France that have shut down because the price of the paper is too high too high so I remember thinking about that um maybe U um one time in in a year or one time in a month it could be possible B so much work in fact so the sometime I look at the all work we have to do if you want to make that I'm already exhausted [Music] okay then you will do it only the books you have for the moment it's the book because um it's our annual uh tax revolutionary tax and uh it's it's every year the people like to have their book it's like the it's the annual present and uh they they're waiting for the book you do from September to June and um it's different um it's made by um levels economic politic no it's just a random article it's just the best article of each M okay yeah that it's not classed by type of article okay I have here I have one question written before that it's um what is the most sensitive issue that you have in France because here for example politics now it's a a hot one but uh Mund have had has uh some problems with I don't know and when you speak about children or no the the the big biggest criticism we have um last year and during the election year uh we made a lot of article not a lot but we made some article about a French politician called Eric zore we made article on on all politic in France uh we have no um in France we have we have we we don't going to eat on only one person we eat on everyone but sometimes we eat this politician Eric zimo and that one time we receive comments saying Ohi you become political you're not impartial anymore and it's funny to to see how the world political became an insult yeah because they don't say oh you're leftist they said you're political so being political is being leftist yeah you see the the of the the world is changing of sense yeah it's very interesting to see and we only got criticism from people who like this guy we made article about Macon we made article about Len we made article about Milan no one said a word they said okay you're joking with all the politics it's not a problem um go go make some joke but you going making joke on Eric zimo it become a problem for them because suddenly you eating the one topic that don't want you you want to talk yeah because the you have um noticed that um Twitter Now call it ex um has uh changed a bit um here we have I don't know how to say it easy we have a lot of Nazis in Twitter Spain and now when you um made a a any publication of the Mund to has a lot of comments and some of them are um very um Angry yeah and and and it's interesting because you you have to understand a Nazi it's so fragile yeah it's so fragile you can if you shake him a little you can break it so be careful with a little nazy yeah yeah yeah we have to be it's and it but sometimes you don't know that are you are shaking the little n because sometimes they has like all the package um it's um they are from the far right and and they are um against woman's rights and they are against um er the I don't know the theb they they are against a lot of things then you cannot um separate political and all that package that goes with them then in France they create a word called workism yeah from Wan Wan yeah but when you're doing a sa can you really read all the comments uh is it representative of all your readers um it's mostly representative because sometimes there are people sending mails and I read mail I read all the mail mail we received we don't read all the comments but sometimes I'm clicking and I'm reading and I see the sometimes that that ha GFI became political ha you making joke on Eric Zur of course and I see that in 10 years 10 years ago we didn't have this this kind of comments and now we got it and uh it it and it's very interesting to see the word political as I said before switching from being political to being leftist and being an insult it's very very interesting but uh I read all the mail but sometime we got mail of this kind but in on the other way we got mail of people Thanking us to [Music] existing mer we became some kind of people are very happy to see the US in the on the social media because uh there it's the it's a comfort for for for them to see that we are still there even in the darkest period like the atanta of the attack on Cho the pandemic we were still publishing even it was very hard for us and it was very hard times but a lot of people sending mails and comment Thanking us to working even during this dark period yeah it's in here in in elmund today um they receive they don't have a lot of mails but they have a lot of comments and the problem is that now you are not talking about nothing of political and in the comments the people people do it political it's strange it's because it's like I'm talking about um the climate change and then in the comments political it's it's I I'm speaking or something that it's physical it's uh we have a very hot uh climate now and we are speaking about how it's not possible that in December we are in short uh and and they are doing it political and that's a strange thing um here during in the comments for example it's like they use as an insult they try to use sometimes um they say um I hope they do it to you at Charlie hebo they they say it and it's just when they say it it's like okay um you are saying a very hard thing but if we are like uh hebo it's like we are a a very important um satire newspaper or magazine so you are telling us like uh something very wrong and and hard hard thing you you want to hurt us but it's a compliment too because if you think that we are so important as Char hebo it's an a good thing but they say a lot that kind of things and it's it's hurting and it's [Music] um I think it's it's strange that you are talking about uh womans and some in the comments say I hope you have a CH hebo he like what [ __ ] that's escalated quickly yeah it's like what what's happening and and now it's it's for that it's because it's all the package if you criticize something about um I don't know it's sometimes are small things like um things of or food or [Music] some guy of the television and they they think that it's from the right and then it's political it's strange yeah but I don't know the situation in Spain but in France the the the political humor situation is very very hard uh because uh last year for example there was a famous show on the radio who was cancelled because um our president didn't like that so they put the show on Sunday uh hoping that no one will be listening to the show and the show will be crumbled they continue to have the biggest audience even on the Sunday oh so so you have um in France in the last 10 years a lot of uh humor political humor show have been cancelled uh for example on in the TV you got gin Delo it was a very famous show every day on TV U making joke about the political and about the life it was caned like five years ago because uh someone uh took control of the of the the channel and decide to leave everyone out MH and so we have this uh what happened in shdo uh we have can but the can all the journalist are very old and sometime their joke are a little old too yeah and also there was a lot of Scandal inside because they realized there was a Soviet spy in the 60s during the the 60s and Al also um one of the uh journalist was suspected of not doing really his work mhm so canar is is in a very strange POS position um you got CDO was created by some journalist from Charlie but CDO is not in in a good health it's very complicating the humor the political humor in France doing that today is very hard because we are we we are the only one last Almost for [Music] long I will make in English later [Music] understand for conf so I was chatting with other website and for example we got we uh we working with a SAT Sati website in Arabic language and they got office and journalist writers in Lebanon jordania and Syria and one day one of the journalist writer was in a in a a party and she met one of his friend and his reveal to herself that he's an secret agent working for the Secret Service of Lebanon and they know all the name of the their writer they got files on them and they know who they are and she said to me it was frightening because the moment before I was making joke on the internet and the next moment I was thinking myself in a Cell because you you don't know maybe you're going to make a joke that the the president of of Lebanon or something is not going to like it and you can finish in cell yeah and in France we have laws protecting this kind of censorship the censorship normally don't exist in France but we see what happened on FR they they shut down a show put it on Sunday expecting that it will not working he still working so it's another way of censorship yeah but we have to be lucky to U living in France and we have law protecting us protecting the way we make joke yeah yeah here um I I think um well here we have some several issues like the crown and things that it's illegal to make jokes so you can do it um but you you made a book about the Constitution we make a book about the Constitution was amazing yeah yeah yeah yeah um that was tricky because yeah yeah in the Constitution you're going to talk the the the the king Duty or something like that yeah yeah we we but we have to put that it's a fictional book just in case because um now we cannot um play as uh before in sometimes but um here we have several issues with um that kind of things the crown are um well and some some the thing it's sorry it's difficult for me to explain English it's um I think there's not a direct uh censorship but they have the power so at the end they are not uh saying that you can do this but I will sue you then with the um um Su SOS and the um going to the tribunals and going to have to um have a lawyer to contest a demand we have the demands it's the the things that they are doing to make the censorship with the power and the money it's it's what they are using they are they a lot of times it goes um well and you are free but you have to uh pay a lawyer and pay and pay and go to the trial and that things is the things that they are doing here and usually it's the right they are doing also in France we have a um big businessman on many Channel TV it's from he's from Britany I cannot say his name because I will be in danger but every time a journalist writing a book on him the journalist receiving a letter suing him before even the book is released yeah but is the same process and and he have to pay lawyer in France we have the the word is procedure B it's forced to to shut you [Music] yeah yeah because it's it's interesting because in in with the humor and the comedy and the satire um now there there is that word uh the walk walk ism from Wan the WAN and they are a lot of people are they are playing with that word and um that you they are saying now you can do humor about nothing because if you say h you make jokes blah blah blah with the H ladies I say ladies because I'm as I'm a woman I can do it with I can um play with um the thing but um they are saying you can do humor or anything now because the walk is um they are saying to you that that it's not a good joke um no the the cancellation they are saying no if you make some joke you can be cancelled um I think the cancellation thing at the end it's the people that is receiving the joke saying it's not funny anymore but the censorship that it's working in a high levels um it's the important thing and the people don't say don't don't see that they say they talk about the workism and that you don't you can make jokes about several things but that's not the important thing the important thing is that sometimes you want to speak about um political issues and you can't because you know that you have to go to Trail mhm and I don't know if the work is that that thing it's similar in France no in in France we have a common sentence we said we cannot say anything we cannot joke about anything every uh white people around 50 or 60 years always said that on French TV no just adapt you joke and uh uh I've been making gphi since 12 years and and I never had a problem because we know how to make good joke and uh for example um I don't want to um to Hur people I Want U laughing with them you know that that's the difference yeah and uh I I am tired to her that on it's always the same lament but no the the world is changing is changing in a good way so good for it and also I'm a some kind of Boomer I'm almost like 50 years in in few years so I I realize myself I'm from an I receive an education from the last century yeah you know so also my um conception of the world um have to evolve because I don't want to hurt anyone I understand that so I have to work on myself and that's normal that's education you know but some people don't want to evolve they don't want education and they want to stay um in the mind of the last century yeah but uh you can do jokes of everything yeah if you want yeah yeah that's here here it's the same we have uh the same song uh over and over that you can do jokes anymore and it's like no you can do it maybe you don't do it like you do previously like 10 years ago you have another sensibility and you change it but you can do it and the the um the satires um the newspapers of online show it that you can do it and you can do it in several um languages um and the other thing um well Mund today and leori ER meet because um several um satire newspapers from different places of Europe talk together and um sometimes um hang out yeah lot one one thing that year and um when you interchange because you read the other newspapers you try to I try to read but uh I I don't want to read too much because I don't want to um to be inspired by it and it's my very very fear that to read elmondo today and to see a very good joke and to think come on steal it steal it no one going to see it and so I'm the only satire newspaper I reading is the onion because for me it's the the biggest yeah and it's the only one I don't read any Sati in French for example uh and I read only when you share article to see to if we want to translate it my brother who speak fluently Spanish read a lot El today he loves you want to work with with you and uh every time I see I say to him hey I'm going to see the people from elod today oh can I come he he loves you he loves you he's a big fan oh thank you well no thank you I'm I'm speaking from chav for chabby and andik br br but the the The Interchange the change um I think it's nice to um that sometimes um you share your um and content and some people start to notice it because uh it's we we don't speak about the this big organization the big satire uh and when I talk to that so to some people there there were they are very amazing because they said wow it's a big stuff you should talk about that you should you should make press conference yeah about that it and they're they're they're right it's huge and uh some next year I think he's going to be in Paris maybe it would be maybe if it's in Paris that I can go with train with the with the and I think we're going to make a just maybe the first day or the last day I don't know a big press press conference with everyone like a serious press conference with journalist from everywhere asking question about oh we are working in satire in each country uh where are the difficulty we are it could be interesting because a lot of people don't know that we are working together yeah that's that's very nice I think it's um the the European heart um works like this with the people doing things like that for um I don't speak French and I don't read French but with the Catalan and Spanish you can understand something and I have to say that that it's um uh I I have I have I have lot luck with big um love with that because um we have here Manuel B too it was we we share that we are sorry for that by the way yeah yeah you have only one job that it was keeping in France and you don't do that you escape it I'm sorry they escape it and and they tried to to be try to find it was too late Barcelona was like who are you he already crossed the border and it was oh no I run away again it was very it was very fun and and it's I think um and maybe you don't know French um very well but if you want to uh improve uh or you want to um you you can understand a lot of things um here so if you are seeing us in the social media and you're thinking to um maybe learn French the books of legography are fine to I think they and I think it um and a lot of teachers in France are using GFI in their class yeah it's because it's easy to read and and it's um you can learn about France actually and and I think it's interesting so funny story um one of my friend working for the ministry of Defense mhm and um he was working with French submarine atomic submarine around the world so every 6 months the submarine goes up to catch the last news MH of the last the last few months and one of my friend play a little game he put all the news and inside the news he put some gari so the submarine goes down and six months later he goes up again and he he was expecting that someone going to tell oh by the way the stuff you you you put in the in the news 6 months ago I think there were some some stuff not very not very real they didn't say anything they eat it the the whole thing oh wow so I don't know what what kind of article he put in it but there was some graphy I think he put two articles but they never said a word follow okay then it's nice nice you have you make fake news for real then because they don't have the kind of uh contrast the things it was nice it was um I don't know if you want uh now to speak uh uh the the writer of the graphy explaining how they're writing mhm like one time in a month MH and we are talking around a table M like very seriously to understand uh oh I made this article I use this angle uh because I wanted to talk about this stuff this stuff this stuff and I I think it could be interesting to talk about how we made the joke yeah and it's working it's it's very interesting I think um the people because um sometimes the uh people that want to be writer um they have all the information in the schools of University but they know how the the work that you do every day it's more inter I remember 10 years ago something like that um in Chicago the union was doing a Comedy Festival for one week and um they set up a meeting between the writers of the union and the writers of the Simpson mhm so for two hours two hours that discussed about humor what kind of humor what kind what limit is and it was fascinating for two two hours to listening to them just chatting together it was wow it's the most beautiful two hours of my life oh thank that's interesting with this one also with yeah well no my English is not the best one to do it but um I'm trying I'm trying the pandemic don't help me with the the language so we we we I will have to um work again uh with that uh I don't know I think uh we can let it here uh just in case if you want to uh s sign the books or work uh
