Stuart Hawk the name synonymous with electrifying run dazling footwork and a smile that could light up a stadium he was the forb who had it all Pace power and an infectious passion for the game but somewhere along the way the narrative shifted the headline started screaming hog shocking errors and Iz he ped his prime off the field issues didn't help his case either but what happened did steart H truly experience a horrifying downfall or is the story more new on than that born in the Scottish town of hock a place where rugby wuns deep in the veins Stuart hog was destined for greatness from a young age his talent was evident he possessed an almost Supernatural ability to weave through Defenders leaving them grasping at air his acceleration was legendary he acceleration he's earning him the nickname hoggy the highway hog is all the way up as a youngster hog played for his local team hock Wanderers and then was drafted to Sterling County in the Scottish Premiership for the 20809 season H was linked to Glasgow Warriors for 18 months as part of the elite development program run by Scottish rugby and signed his FD professional contract at the end of 2011 his performances for Glasgow Warriors caught the eye of international selectors in 2012 at the tender age of 20 he made his debut for Scotland it was the start of a meteoric rise he became a main stay in the team a constant threat on the Counterattack and a Talisman for the passionate Scottish thistles hogwood returned for the 2013 Six Nations where he announced himself on the global stage with a stunning solo try against Italy a moment etched in the memory of every rugby fan [Applause] and just a few months later hog was one of four Scotland Players called up for the lion squad for their 2013 tour to Australia and was the youngest player on the tour he continued to go from strength to strength with his Club side winning the United rugby Championship in 2015 Hog's Brilliance wasn't limited to the international stage he was a key figure in exor Chiefs Premiership dominance winning the title in his first season there this extended to the national team also as he won backto back six Nation player of the championship in 2016 and 2017 respectively his attacking prowess coupled with his everpresent smile made him a fan favorite whoever he played but then came the cracks in the armor the dazzling runs and breathtaking tries became less frequent Miss tackles handling ARR this he's dropped it he's dropped it and a growing frustration began to overshadow is brilliant 5 Seconds of an 8-minute flashes of his old magic remained aring crucial moments left fans's heartbroken this culminated in him being dropped for the final pool game against Japan a decision that sent shock waves through the Scottish rugby Community it wasn't just on the field whispers about his off the field life began to Surface rumors of disciplinary issues swolled around him further tonish His Image was the pressure getting to him had the Relentless pursuit of Excellence taken its toll the media frenzy was Relentless articles and pundit opinions dissected every mistake every M tackle the narrative was clear Stuart Hawk was a Fallen Hero a shadow of his former self the way of expectation it seemed had become a burden too heavy to Bear but amidst the negativity there were glimmers of Hope hog ever the fighter refused to give up he address his off the- field issues head on demonstrating a commitment to self and you know challenge myself in a different environment a different league and he returned to Club rugby with a renewed Focus his work ethic was undeniable and glimpses of his old magic started to reappear he wasn't the same player some argued but a more mature and controlled version of exitor as they went on to do the double winning the 2020 rugby Premiership and European Champions Cup titles respectively these strong performances saw hog named as captain for the 2026 Nations championship and I want to make a difference um there he led Scotland to their first away victory in Worlds for 18 years kicking a penalty during a size 1410 Triumph the captain smashes it between the a year later h in Scotland to memorable away victories over England for the first time since 1983 by 11 in France for the first time since 1999 they're going to do it they in that November against Japan at murrayfield Hawk scored his 25th International try it becoming Scotland's alltime record try scorer Stuart hog was back but for how long was the real question HW captain in Scotland for their first buck tobu win against England in four decades during the first game of the 2022 Six Nations but just over a year later on the 27th of March 2023 Hogan expectedly announced his intention to retire from professional rugby after The Rook World Cup which was taking place in September though strangely he later revised this and announced on the 9th of July 20123 his immediate retirement from the sport just 2 months prior to the start of the tournament in the announcement he referenced his ambition to take up a new career path Beyond retirement but this isn't even as strange as it gets as of the field issues which had plagued his career earlier begun to resurface hog was seemingly happily married to his wife Julian Smith but in November 2023 hog revealed his new relationship to commentator Leona mayor after the birth of his fourth child on the 25th of February 2024 hog was arrested outside his aange wife's hock residence for acting in a threatening manner after this he was given a court order boring him from contacting her and attended a rehabilitation center unfortunately this isn't how the story ends as in July hog appeared at Jed B Sheriff's court for a short hearing over alleged domestic a to his wife over a 7-year period between 2017 and 2024 this happened just a few weeks after he announced they had signed for French top 14 side Mont pelier with his trial set
