cetric Tillman I was down on him a little bit when they drafted him you know people talk we need a big body receiver we need something you know there's times where where Cedric Tillman didn't go up and fight for the ball last year a little bit had some some mix up in routes and not running the right routes down the stretch with Joe flacko um but you know everybody everybody always has an opportunity to come back and improve jlk started off slow had a great year last year hopefully Tillman has turned the corner and he's learned from some of those guys like Amari Cooper that are in that breakout candidate for the Cleveland Browns potential breakout players for each NFL team this from pro football network for the Browns they say Cedric Tilman showed promise last year and will fight for more snaps in 2024 early indication are Amari Cooper and Tilman will play outside with Jerry Judy playing in the slot got to figure Elijah Mo in there as well yeah I I could see Cedric Tilman earning some spot the one thing Cedric Tilman and I we said this earlier Cedric Tilman Big Red Zone Target potentially and he blocks so if you're playing 11 personnel he he he came in and blocked so I could see him being in the Red Zone because you can use him as a big Target and if you're going to run the ball he can block yeah and it's like what what happens with Elijah Moore when you get to the Red Zone when the field gets a little bit smaller are you g to still want to use him in the same way um there there's going to be an opportunity for Cedric Tilman if I'm Cedric Tilman um this off season this this OTA period that he just had which was pretty encouraging and his training camp probably the most important training camp of his young career because if he comes there and he's prepared and he's not an issue with knowing where he's supposed to be he's going to be probably set up for a decent career but if he doesn't that's going to put him down a bad path um or at least put him down a bad probability path as far as him being a successful player so we'll see what happens yeah and Kevin sansky raved about his off season so good first step needs to carry it over into training camp yeah listen um that was that clip was uh courtesy of sports for Cle shout out to Quincy um and um those folks over there and we appreciate uh appreciate them you know Quincy be on the show all the time over here but I agree with him um this is a very pivotal year uh for for Cedric Tillman and I I'll tell you why there's one or two ways this can go he can turn out to be a Donovan peoples Jones who's a guy who just is struggles to find his his niche in the league or he can turn himself into say like a Mohamad senu like uh you know what I'm saying like uh you know he can be you know one of those guys where you know he's not really a huge body he's not really a burner but he's a guy that can get um you know I I kind of compare him to Mike Jenkins right old receiver from Ohio State right early 2000s he he could be a guy who can use his body correctly box people out use his height use that big frame to kind of make sure he turn himself into a Red Zone Target uh and be a guy that can be you know Play Down in the Red Zone however to do that he's gonna have to get in his mind I gotta do something to differentiate differentiate myself from anybody else on the field and a lot of times young players don't do this young players come in and they try to be like well I'm going to be a well-rounded receiver I'm going to be a dude that can do a little bit of everything nah uhuh that ain't the way it work come in find something that you can do and put everything you can into it case in point blocking coaches love receivers that can block especially on short yardage especially when you give you get you blocking and giving people an opportunity to get run after catch or or continue to run the ball uh especially on run plays be a contested catch guy I'm a dude that in contested confined spaces I'm going to go up and High Point to football I'm bigger than you I'm Mossing you I'm getting you up off me and that's how that's my that's my game be a bully out there I'm back I'm playing football playing basketball those are two things Cedric Tilman can do but if he comes in and he tries to out out out Elijah Moore no that's not how you get on the field don't try to do to be what Elijah Moore is don't try to be some route Runner and tactician that Jerry Judy is right don't be that because that's what Jerry Judy's skill set is what you can get yourself on the field is when you catch the football you refuse to go down you that big you tell them them defensive backs it's gonna take four to five of you to tackle me when when you get when I catch this football I'm like a tight end in a receiver's body that mentality will get you yard after catches that will keep that physicality will keep you in the field in short yardage and goal line and those are some of the things that think Cedric Tillman can do to get himself on the field can you imagine a big receiver like himself working in the slot on linebackers and and guys like that and safeties running up down the field man that's devastating that's devastating but he has to find something that he's gonna hang his hat on so that the coaches can understand oh no no no we hey it's short yardage it's third and one Cedric wooo oh his goal line we need somebody to run that fade backside cedre you know what I'm saying third and one we need we going to throw the ball you know or or third and four we gonna throw a quick three yard slant and you g you gonna drag a couple of these small DBS for another four yards for for for eight yards wo said Dre that's what we need and a lot of times people don't be doing that they just be trying to come in and like no that's not your game play your game understand what your game is understand what your game is when I be doing this Sports Talk stuff my game is unorthodox I don't be coming in here trying to give you all these these these stats I'll give you some I give you some stats I I got the stats but I feel like people trying to hear something different than them stats man like let's get to the like you know that real talk you know what I'm saying I'm not gonna try to come in here and out stat bull for what I'm not trying to out stat Jay For What come here you know how G Bush Give It Up I'm going to be prepared I'm going to know the stats but my thing is trying to elevate the stats and make it make sense to the people out there in a regular way you know what I'm saying that's my that's my skill set so when you see a guy like Cedric Tillman he he's he's done a nice job I think you know he's on a on a nice track and in the path and Kevin stansky by mentioning his name specifically as a guy that he thinks had a good offseason is is the first step in the right situation but the next step you got to do is you got to make yourself available to the quarterback and you got to show that I can do this one or two things better than anybody on the roster and I guarantee you'll find yourself on the football field
