welcome back to the channel folks grab your popcorn because we're about to dive into a hot mess the Indiana Fever postgame reality check now before you freak out relax take a deep breath things might be okay might be in the key word here but hey what's the fun in being optimistic all the time especially when we' got some juicy drama to discuss listen folks young teams have Growing Pains it's inevitable you can't climb the ladder to success without stepping on a few rakes and let me tell you the fever just stepped on a garden full of them they've been red hot blazing even but let's be real did we think they were ready to take on the likes of the Minnesota links who have been out here steamrolling everyone since the break nope this was a gut check game and boy did Indiana get a gut punch now don't get me wrong this fever team is good like really good but some of you all got a little too excited including me just because you're winning doesn't mean you're great these losses show us the gaps the weak spots aka the holes in the ship that need patching before it sinks but here's where things get spicy let's talk about Coach Christy side ah coach of the month hu you think she was a WNBA coaching genius giving the praise people on Twitter are out here asking for her forgiveness like she's the pope but here's my hot take she's still the wrong coach for this team yes I said it and no it's not because I'm salty okay maybe a little but because the facts back me up the fever's offense it's like watching paint dry seriously if I wanted to see slow plotting basketball i' go watch a fourth grade game at least those kids are cute this obsession with post-ups and points in the paint is a one-way ticket to the early exit of the playoffs we get it Christie you love big bodies down low but this isn't 1995 and it's time to evolve especially when you've got a talent like Caitlyn Clark oh and speaking of Caitlyn Clark can we talk about how she's literally dragging this team on her back triple double check setting WNBA records left and right check meanwhile Sid is over here like yeah but she missed a few pick and rolles but come on man Clark just made history and you're nitpicking about missed opportunities this is like winning the lottery and complaining about having to pay taxes appreciate the greatness let's not forget about Aaliyah Boston now Boston is a beast when she's facing the rim back to the basket not so much but instead of playing to her strengths sides is trying to make her a postup queen news flash you don't put a Ferrari in rush hour traffic you let it Zoom Boston is at her best when she's catching the ball on the Move attacking the basket but nah let's slow it down and watch her get blocked a dozen times great plan coach and don't even get me started the officiating I wouldn't let these refs officiate a pickup game at the YMCA let alone a professional basketball game the WNBA officiating is bad on a good day but this was a new level of ridiculous they should be fine fired or both but back to the fever it's not all doom and gloom despite the mess of a third quarter just 12 points Caitlyn and Kelsey Mitchell were still cooking from Beyond The Arc and you know what that's where the fever thve Tempo baby when they push the pace good things happen when they slow down it's like watching molasses in January the fever are like a sports car stuck in traffic they've got all the horsepower Kaylin Clark Kelsey Mitchell Leah Boston but they're stuck behind slow moving minivans I.E Christy size offensive schemes sure they can rev the engine make some flashy moves here and there but at the end of the day they're being held back let the girls run for crying out loud this team has speed talent and the ability to outpace most defenses when they push the tempo but instead they're forced into a halfcourt grind that leaves them looking Gass and confused the third quarter against the lyns was like watching a train wreck in slow motion you can see the frustration building the fever were clearly out of sync and instead of making the necessary adjustments sides stuck to the same old game plan it was like watching someone try to solve a Rubik's Cube by Smashing it with a hammer sure it's a method but it's not going to work let's talk about defense for a minute or should I say lack of Defense the links were getting wide open looks like it was a freefor all out there and Clark bless her heart was part of the problem at the end of the first half she didn't even bother close out on a three-point shooter didn't even put her hand up that's like leaving the front door wide open and being shocked when someone walks in you can't win games like that period but here's where I'm really concerned will they learn from this because if they don't it's going to be a short playoff run it's one thing to lose a game it happens but losing because you're not learning from your mistakes that's on the coach and if Christy Size Doesn't figure out how to adapt this team's ceiling is going to stay pretty low now I know some of you are thinking but Leroy didn't you just say the fever are doing well overall yes yes I did but this is a classic case of good isn't great the fever have the tools to be great they've got the Firepower the youth the energy but until the coaching staff unlocks that potential they're going to be stuck in this limbo between almost and not quite it's frustrating to watch because you know what this team could be the one bright spot in all of this of course is Caitlyn Clark my goodness this rookie is putting on a show and not just any show but the kind that sells out Arenas she's breaking records hitting triple doubles draining threes from the parking lot she's the real deal yet her own coach is talking about missed opportunities and pick and role plays give me a break we should be celebrating Clark's Achievements not nitpicking her every move but hey what do I know I'm just a guy with a YouTube channel calling it like I see it and what I see is a team that's bursting at the scenes with potential but is being held back by a coach who can't get out of her own way the fever can be something special they can make noise in the playoffs if and only if they start playing to their strengths otherwise we're in for more games like this one where the talent shines through but the results fall short so where do we go from here well the fever have a chance to bounce back but it's going to require some soul searching both from the players and the coaching staff they need to play faster play smarter and For the Love of All Things basketball stop relying on fourth grade offensive schemes this team is too talented to be playing such outdated basketball as for christe decides this is her moment of truth if she can adjust if she can evolve maybe she's the coach the fever need but if not well we've seen what happens when great teams are held back by subpar leadership the clock's ticking coach time to show us what you've got in the meantime fever fans hanging there this was a rough one no doubt about it but remember this is a young team there's still room to grow and these setbacks as painful as they are can lead to something better just don't hold your breath waiting for those adjustments to come instead let's hope that Caitlyn Clark keeps doing what she does best which is making history and carrying this team on her back anyway don't forget to like subscribe comment and share this video let me know what you thought about the game in the comment section
