[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right happy Monday everybody we lot talking about a heat advisory today we have dangerous heat through Thursday and then temperature will exceed in some areas this afternoon 103 and it only gets hotter tomorrow Wednesday or matter of fact we have four cast highs around 10:6 on Wednesday so more on that coming up in just a bit but also slim rain chances by the end of the week Friday Saturday and Sunday with temperatures coming down a little bit by the weekend and we'll show you that in detail in a second live look around the city it is mostly clear a lot of sunshine out there this morning just a few cumulous clouds out there this morning uh summer so far has been pretty decent compared to where we were last year where we were in 2022 as a matter of fact this year we're only at 22 triple digit days when you compare that to 23 we are at 75 total for 12 month uh triple digit days the average is 18 to above that uh the last day we typically see 100° um is typically late August but we've seen it as late as September 28th here in San Antonio so it can go along so just another month of this and hopefully we get our first cold front moving in um right now just a lot of heat in the forecast and some rain chances by Friday so again we'll talk about that in a second right now we're sitting at 88 feels like 96 humidity is not helping at all temperatures are right around 90 in some areas around the Metro but again the heat index will be the big factor in our forecast uh from Dave David any more Sahara dust coming in um not that we know of you know usually in August some of the Dust the Saharan dust layer really starts to diminish however between now and September we could get another plume or two let me look at the dust layer and see if we have any uh coming in doesn't look like it anytime soon uh this is the dust forecast you can see by this weekend maybe a little bit of dust in the Rio Grand Valley between there and Laro um but really not a large concentration of dust and we're not expecting any of that at least in the next 7 to 10 days and that's the good news we have heat advisories and effect meaning air temperatures could get as hot as 103 to 104 today specifically and then the heat index maybe as high as 110 to 112 so um also some air quality alerts towards Houston but the big weather story today is the heat advisory and again we've hit uh 100 degrees total of 22 times this year uh we're probably going to hit it again today tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday before our temperature start to Trend down by the weekend okay again 88 feels like 96 let's take a look at the Metro we have 88 in caleris Lake 87 at Hondo 87 at Bandera already jumping in the 90 uh at Leia sigin and same thing with new bronal 91 at San Marcus 91 at lrange 92 at Del Rio so San Antonio kind of in the middle but right now we're right around 88 to 89 degrees with the high humidity value okay today's forecast 103 mostly clear mostly sunny no chance for rain and it is going to be a dangerously hot day we talk about this every day in the summer time but when you talk about temperatures above 101 to 102 and then you factor in heat index that is extremely dangerous heat and not much more than 15 to 30 minutes of exposed time outside will result in you know sunburn uh heat exhaustion heat stroke these are all serious symptoms we have to consider if you're spending a long Mount time outside today tomorrow and through Thursday but again high temperatures around 103 this afternoon clear skies you can see a couple of clouds and uh maybe some isolated storms out in East Texas towards um Lufkin and Lake Charles but not going to make it anywhere near us unfortunately we stay pretty quiet in our forecast big story though again heat advisories and effect until 700 p.m. tonight dangerous heat heat indices as high as 110 to 115 today worst time to be outside from 2:00 p.m. to about 600 p.m. that is the peak heating of the day and the humidity is the highest around that time as well I know JoJo it's not the best time of year unfortunate but weather impact alerts are issued for today tomorrow and through Thursday notice that with this particular graphic uh forecast Highs are in red and the yellow numbers represent the Daily records today we should be around 103 we'll be away from the Daily Record tomorrow closer around 104 to 105 and the Daily Record uh for tomorrow was set back at 1909 at 107 we'll get close to it but don't think we break it on Tuesday but on Wednesday I do think we break it we'll be maxing out at 105 to 106 and the record for that day on Wednesday August 21st uh was set back last year of 100 105 and we're forecasting 106 on Wednesday on Thursday August 22nd 103 we may Tire uh we may beat that record depending on what the exact air temperature is on Thursday and on Friday we'll be close Daily Record to 104 we're forecasting a high of about 101 so it looks like Wednesday we're aiming to either tie or break that record if we hit 106 we'll certainly break it but if we hit 105 we'll tie it water vapor showing high pressure really over the entire region from the desert Southwest to the plains to Texas and to parts of Louisiana where we're seeing a little bit of outflows move through those are some showers and storms over parts of Louisiana but high pressure our main weather player and you'll see this doesn't change through Wednesday it stays very strong Thursday and Friday it starts to spread out a little bit I think that'll trim down the heat a little bit by the weekend Saturday and Sunday high is right around 99 to 100 which is still hot but compare to tomorrow and Thursday uh it'll be a little cooler by the weekend but still high pressure uh gaining the upper hand and creating a lot of heat okay shout out shout out to Harlandale bus driver turn up the AC from Jacob yeah I know Jacob it is so hot out there especially with our kids out there on the buses it is extremely hot um air temperature is way too hot this time of year but forecasting around 103 today 105 to 106 Tuesday and Wednesday so it's not going to get any better hopefully by the end of August and toward September we get a cold front end but right now no relief inide uh Tropics are a little active Ernesto already moving away from Bermuda uh moving into the North Atlantic this interacts with cooler Waters in the North Atlantic so this storm is going to really be sheared apart over the next 24 hours uh not expecting it to impact any additional land um as a matter of fact it'll move farther east Northeast away from the US and that'll be it for Ernesto but notice hurricane frequency this time of year between now and September it is extremely active aside from Ernesto there aren't any additional storms out there no more hurricanes at the moment but through early September uh that's when we typically see the peak of Hurricane Season the water is the warmest the air temperature is the warmest especially in the Atlantic Basin so between now and about September 10th we approach the peak and it's not till pretty much um Mid October is when we start to see it trend down and the season ends on November 30th okay that's the 14-day forecast Let's see we can put it up full screen today3 105 Tuesday 106 Wednesday heat index probably on the range of 108 to 115 it is going to be extremely hot small chance at rain maybe an evening isolated storm on Thursday but it's only small at 10% Sunday we start to trim down on the heat uh no more triple digits but 99 to 98 by Saturday and Sunday and then still very similar weather by next week not as hot but still very warm at least near average 98 to 97 Monday Tuesday and Wednesday and we have September 1st on the 14-day forecast and still a little warm you can see as we progress this into let's say tomorrow and the next week yeah average is around 97 to 96 this time of year uh for San Antonio so we'll leave it on the forecast a little longer guys um but stay safe drink plenty of water stay hydrated find shade take breaks when you can uh because this heat is no joke and we'll be challenging records tomorrow and Wednesday I think we do break a record on Wednesday if we hit a high of 106 with sunny skies and only small chances at rain uh in the forecast so we'll leave it on the forecast a little longer guys be safe drink plenty of water and we'll see you next time we'll be on live at noon on kin 5 for the latest on the weather and everything you need to know uh tune in to Kin 5 News at Noon
