well ladies and gentlemen welcome in to a little conference realignment video talking about the future of the Pack 12 yes the future of the Pack 12 it's basically dead right well maybe not so much the Pack 12 expansion possibility is on the table again following the basically complete demolishment of their own conference we're also going to talk about the ACC possibly trying to rebuild if they lose two teams in early to July which is normally when all of this stuff comes out the expectation would be Clemson and FSU maybe it ises someone else like FSU in in North Carolina but it's possibly going to be two teams maybe four they're going to try and replace those they've already added teams the smus the stanfords the Cals of the world to try and supplement for the losses that they will have whether it is two four teams maybe even six teams depending on what teams like NC State want to do and their tie-ins to North Carolina but let's see what this article says the moves now they're referencing basically the Pack 12 getting demolished left just Oregon State and Washington State who were left to fend for themselves as they are now partnered with the Mountain West and the West Coast Conference they did however inherit $65 million as a settlement from the 10 programs who left which could be used to pay buyouts for programs looking to leave their current conference so you're possibly talking about trying to maybe take take the scraps of the ACC I really don't know which ACC programs would actually find a rebuilt Pack 12 to be all that attractive I think it's like the bottom of the bottom they would rather just stay in you know the ACC which would at that point be likely a group of five conference if they lost like six teams even then the only teams I could think is maybe the ACC gets totally blown up and then you've got Wake Forest Boston College teams like that looking for a home possibly joining the new whatever the pack two maybe it becomes a pack eight or a pack 10 they're trying to make it very exclusive it's going to be a really small conference if this does happen it's just where is the attractiveness maybe they can try and lure a San Diego State with a $65 million maybe they can look at a South Florida but it is kind of hard to put this together when it comes to the Pack 12 even surviving and in this article it also talks about the brand recognition of the Pack 12 which I just think is ridiculous they're using that as kind of an argument as to why teams from other conferences would want to join the Pack 12 the brand is just relling on the teams that are in the conference it really doesn't matter that it's still technically the Pack 12 and it's a great brand it's a it's a former power five conference that had national champions all this that and the other that really doesn't matter at this point considering where the conference is at the the conference the value of it is based off of the teams not based off of the brand name nobody cares about the Pack 12 if they supplement these losses by by trying to rebuild and add really bad teams lower level teams it's just completely inconsequential in my opinion the brand is not going to get them a crazy good TV deal it's based on the teams their success their fan base their ratings all of that plays into it you can see if it does come to a Pack 12 rebuild I expect the two member conference to keep things on the lean side and that makes total sense they're not going to want to it's already going to be a bad TV deal if they're able to get like an eight or a 10 team conference but the more the conference expands that's more mouths to feed you're going to have to disperse that money you know evenly you would think throughout and and they would lose more and more in terms of their cut if they add more and more teams because you'd have to give more and more teams money they're talking about 8 or nine total members I would imagine they'd like to go with an even number although who knows nowadays when it comes to realignment and then it talks about the timeline for this potentially to happen saying the Pack 12 has until the summer of 2026 to reach the eight School Mark which marks the end of their 2-year grace period yes they do have a two-year grace period where they can exist no matter what they get two years to try and refill the league basically which is pretty crazy to think about but according to this article it seems like the timeline is really going to force Oregon state Washington State to really struggle to get to that eight teams unless the ACC really implodes and also you would very likely be taking a bunch of M Mountain West teams and bringing them to the Pack 12 and and just it's the Mountain West 2.0 that that's what it would be and they could try and get like you know the San Diego State possibly Boise State would be kind of a fun team to get in like an eight team conference and and then if you want to talk about going to the Eastern side of the United States I just don't really see the viable path for any team even a South Florida for example Georgia Tech it just doesn't make any sense unless obviously in Georgia Tech's case the ACC fully dissolves which is not expected to happen at all because they added the three teams because there's teams in the ACC that really are not wanted At All by the Big 10 or the SEC and they're probably not even wanted by the Big 12 because why would the Big 12 take on teams that would dilute their own values and really not add anything to the conference the Big 12 I think wants Miami if they can't get Miami I don't see them really taking anyone from the ACC the AC is probably going to lose two to four members to the SEC possibly two members to the Big 10 depending if everything works out great for them they might only lose two members in total and try and replace those teams and you can see this article talks about two teams that the ACC can add for expansion obviously likely if they lose two two to four teams they'd be replacing them with Yukon that was the first team they mentioned Yukon which for basketball it's great for football it's terrible I mean Yukon right now an independ in football is just awful their basketball program is amazing they won two straight national titles and then the other team they talked about is South Florida who's come up more and more and more in terms of potential you know joining a group of four conference very likely joining the ACC if the ACC loses teams I've also heard a few rumors about them possibly joining the Big 12 that really makes no sense outside of the Big 12 desperately wanting to get into the State of Florida maybe the Big 12 would also entertain a team like Georgia Tech to try and get the Atlanta area but when it comes to South Florida it makes sense if they do if the ACC does lose teams to add a team like South Florida to add a team like Yukon although again the Yukon situation is a little bit different I think they're going to go to the West Coast and try and get San Diego State to mitigate the travel issues because right now the travel is just horrible I would love for them to get San Diego State and Boise State now with Boise State they're a program that is a lot better than their realignment worth if you will just based off of how small they are their TV ratings they're not very attractive or valuable they're a very good program they've got a Cool brand for being a a group of five college football team a mid major but in terms of their realignment value it's a lot worse than a team like California and of course California has been worse than Boise State and football although they have been in the tougher conference same thing with Stanford those teams in terms of academics in terms of where they're located in terms of the history of them they're going to be way more wanted than a team like Boise State but I do think if the ACC loses two members it would be cool to see them get I mean San Diego State the reason they're so attractive they just got a brand new stadium they're kind of just a boring team in general but they would be a team that would be added you would think San Diego State has been rumored to just the past two years been flirting with the big 12 the big 12's denied them apparently so they could possibly join the ACC mitigate the travel issues you'd also have a team like Boise State at least that's what I would want maybe they would go south try and get a team like South Florida you do also have Memphis getting a stadium renovation they could be another potential option I really don't see UTSA being an option to join the ACC or anything like that those are just kind of the things being floated around right now so when it comes to the current Pack 12 or the Pack 2 another thing I wanted to mention I was like I mean do they already have the Pack 12 championship game locked in stone because there's only two teams in the conference apparently both Oregon State and Washington State are just not going to have Conference Championship which makes sense but it would be funny if if they already clinched like they'd actually have a conference Championship it would have to be at one of the home stadiums because if they made it neutral site nobody would go to that it's like a seven and5 team versus six and six team I mean Oregon state was a little bit better last year but their entire program got poached because of the max Mass Exodus from the Pack 12 and Washington State they had a decent run with Gardner menu other than that they really have been kind of irrelevant so they will not be playing Conference Championship they're basically a de facto Mountain West team extension team or whatever you want to call them at this point both of them are and and they will obviously also be facing each other as well as you do have the Civil War happening so Oregon and Oregon State will be playing I Washington and Washington state will also be playing and Washington and Washington state will be playing a neutral sight game I don't know if the Civil War is going to be neutral sight game but I know the Washington State Washington Apple Cup game will be played at Lumen field which will be pretty cool but that is just the current situation in terms of kind of the Dynamics of the Pack 12 possibly existing seems very unlikely it's just based off a potential brand recognition but a lot of those teams are just not going to want to take the chance to join another conference when they already have guaranteed money and they already have strength and numbers you're joining a lot smaller of a conference if you are Washington State and Oregon State you can say well we've got 65 million and we have the potential idea of kind of an an elite level conference in terms of of it being very small so you could attract teams because the shares would be bigger if you only have an eight or a nine team conference like it's being rumored that's the angle you would take in trying to lure some of these teams from 12 14 team conferences they could potentially make more because they'd get a bigger share even if the overall TV number is less than their conference that they're currently in but either way guys that is going to do it for this video make sure you follow me on X link to that's always in the description
