how when that second goal went in there were big celebrations between you and your staff Aston Villa have been a for in your side what a relief to get this performance and this result yeah because it's a really tough place to come they are a great side um great coach very good Collective organization great individuals and uh and we suffer we had a lot of moment of a lot of control and we created chances but it's true that there are two moments in the game that it could have gone the other way around and and David safe us when we most needed it and then the team kept believing kept playing created some three or four good chances and Leo made a difference for the Team One Touch One Finish from trossard as well he didn't seem to want to celebrate his goal CBA told him to put on his trademark celebration and he was persuaded to obviously he wants to be playing more but do you need your players hungry yeah for sure but Leo's attitude is always like this he's upset when he doesn't play but he's upet when he comes on that he gives you uh what the team needs and and that's great and he's a great example for the team I don't expect anybody to be happy when he doesn't play but I expect them to give their best when they are on that field and he certainly did the same like the other players that they come in and unfortunately some they didn't play but they still happy for the team and contributing and being patient there you've now amassed 18 goals this calendar year 18 wins this calendar year out of possible 20 it's a joint Tide record with two clubs Manchester City and Liverpool no one's ever equaled that what does that say to you about what you're doing this calendar year and your title aspirations yeah what the consistency is unbelievable that's a really difficult thing to do especially in the context that we live today in the Premier League so be ready to to the boys for what they are doing and let's keep performing and winning congratulations not last season last season I say I think they conceded 14 less goals the season before um the only the problem they had last season was they didn't score enough goals up front and um in respects of you know being five behind City you know what I mean and that was the problem defensively absolutely fantastic just missing out on those goals just that's all it was that's all it was in the end um I think that um he's this is why probably hasn't got a striker yet he believes that maybe the form of a couple of players need to get better and they could maybe give us those goals but defensively why SEMA you know it's it's rock solid you know especially with the way the goalkeeper playing it looks it looks even more stronger than last season it does doesn't it and actually speaking of the like you're absolutely dead really you know so but what are you thinking no see I think of what I remember uh it's a shot from outside the box I think little deflection I a deflexion from Gia so I'm going I think I'm I'm on the floor kind of thing or on my knee on the floor so I tried to get up I see looping over my head and I try to reach it I can't reach it cuz it's too quick but then I see the rebound going towards the the the pitch again and then I just see all just going in there so I just try to react as quick as possible and and I I just put my hand there and look enough it was nobody around so we clear the ball and yeah of course he a it's a fantastic save yeah and is is that also years and years of of hard work we don't see everything you do in training but often warming up for a game or the little little bits of training we do see you make a SA you're up again up again with your goalkeeper coach and with your teammates so is that save years in the making yeah I think so I think it's just a repetition of things no you you sometimes you make you do drills where you have to save one ball and then get up quick to to save the other and and that's just like a repetition of of years doing it and then obviously that these times has paid off sometimes it doesn't pay off but these times is it's sweet to to say that has paid off all all this hard workare John where did that game get away from you um oh they scored a goal possibly in our best moment of the game um I think the first half they had a lot of the ball know not many clearcut chances a good save from from Emmy from from Zak in the first half but probably a poor game in the first half uh we had a chance obviously we all to take the lead in the first half and again in the second half and when you're playing a team like Arsenal uh one of them has to to really go in we know that all's really down in there but the the moments and the goals he's given us over the past few seasons uh I'm sure we'll let him off yeah can you believe that David ryer made the save for that second Oly Watkins chance it was a ridiculous save it's a ridiculous save he's kicking himself cuz he thinks he could have controlled it and then finished it but got to give credit to the keeper as well but um all he's really disappointed in there but we'll just try to um remind him of his importance to us and the goals he'll give us this season is is a no doubt so a top save from R and was a really important moment of the game he's right it was an important moment of the game wasn't it Tim massive do you remember the circus surrounding ramsdale and ryer you know we don't we don't see that anymore there is no circus he's the number one um the manager stuck by him he had a difficult time um but he's good with the ball his decision making is better he's a fantastic shot stopper Player of the Year you know PFA Player of the Year voted by his peers the guy is top draw and he needs to be top draw if they're going to win the Premier League yeah and it makes all the difference when you have a solid goalkeeper doesn't it yeah none of the you won't see any of the teams that have won the league not just the league like the Premier League going back not having a great keeper everyone's got a great keeper made that extraordinary save Leandro trossard came on and scored with his first touch and helped Arsenal to Victory Leandro congratulations before we get into your goal and your impact in the game what about that save from your perspective yeah amazing um he saved us a couple of times today he showed it last week as well so uh yeah credit to him he kept us in the game and then uh yeah uh it was great that we finished it off at the end we saw some very noisy celebrations at the end what was it like in the dressing room there does it feel like a very significant Victory even though it's so early in the season yeah definitely we are uh I think everyone knows uh what a tough place it is to come uh to play here and win a game and another clean sheet so yeah it's a perfect away one for us was it actually a nice time for you to come on into the game at nil nil um I prefer to be nil nil than obviously being a behind uh uh one all down so um yeah I always try to do my best and try to help and change the game and uh luckily it went my way and the team's way today again and um I'm very very pleased with that Well you certainly did that Leandro when you come on in a 60 yard minute first touch of the ball I mean that's as good as it gets talk us through it because we we we highlighted you and i' when I look at you you come out on the sort of left side now you can see you're desperate to get involved you got your hands up you want that ball switched you was always alive MH yeah that's how I always approach a game I I want to feel the ball that's the type of player I am and uh I told them before as well because I said in the first half obviously I'm on the badge and I can have a look at finish last season so well nine in in the last 18 games of last season did you almost expect to be starting again at the start of this season it's not about expecting um I know the competition and in the team as well and uh I think it's good for everyone and we push each other but obviously when you do very well I like I said everyone wants to start and um play games uh but it's just I'm very happy that I helped the team and I had had an impact again and uh that's all I can do apart from obviously saying you look get in at the back post and give us a goal when you can what was the manager's directions to you what did he say bring more energy because they had the young right back that had obviously been a substitute get at get at him what was the feeling from the manager yeah exactly what you uh explaining now to to get at him uh try to be composed on the ball and uh get them be behind them and uh make it difficult for him and uh I think uh I managed to do it with the second goal you your movement for the second goal is brilant I don't know we can look at I'll put the guys Under Pressure here but you this is fantastic movement as well from you because you pull him in you realize he's going to get tight to you and that little bit of re reverse movement brilliant yeah uh this one as well as soon as I came on I told uh Gabby that uh he had to look for me and behind there because I knew there uh would be space and uh with the first ball before this he he didn't do it but then uh on the second one when I told him he yeah he puts a perfect ball in behind and then obviously it's a good finish is that something you work on I mean looking at Dean Rice's position where he's sort of trying to occupy the fullback as well is that what you're trying to obviously do where that ball can be lifted over the top into the space cuz it it keeps the fullback guessing doesn't it yeah definitely uh obviously every opposition is different but uh they always Tred to exploore their weaknesses and uh I think uh in the second half we we have done that the fixture computer had a bit of fun with Arsenal at the start of this season Leandro the first three away games Asen Billa Tottenham Manchester City you've also got Brighton at home next week how important is a good start given the fixtures that you've been dealt and you know could a strong start actually really set your path for this season um I think a strong start is always always good um especially for the for the feeling uh how you go into a new season obviously it's so early on so it's hard to predict what's going to be at the end of the season but it's definitely yeah what we're aiming for is uh is to win games especially also now we want to win every game obviously it's not as easy as as I say but um yeah that's what we going going to aim for and uh it's it's it's a tough game next week as well uh I know them very well so uh yeah it's going to be yeah a good game for us again to to was an inspired substitution wasn't it why was it necessary at that point in the game but because we have to change momentum of the game we had 10 a period 10 12 minutes that we suffer in the second half and we have to change something and Leo got the ability to to change the game uh his end product is unbelievable I think he had two shots two great balls in the box that could have been another goal or two so that's what you need when it's not enough with the start someone has to come in and and do the job did you feel you had control of the game yeah we did especially because the approach that b had from the beginning which we would have bit surprised but uh in in what way were you surprised well the way they behave especially defensively but uh but it's fine then you have to make the game uh we had uh we had to pick up the pace a little bit because we too slow because you feel comfortable on that but it's not a game that we want to play we created two or three big chances uh Watkins has won here A big one and then yeah David changed the game the safe of David probably changes the the whole game and then we got a good dynamic scored the goal and then we were on top of the game you talk about Behavior what you what do you think they was surpris you because how defensive they were for the first 20 of minutes well they were a little bit different to what they've been doing especially at home but uh but that's it we have to ad that we're going to have to play a lot of games like that the holding midfielder had a very specific behavior with our attacking midfielders as well we have to find something else and the moment we understood the game we created more and more problems and credit to them they are a great side they are really well coach and it's a very difficult place to come and win how important is it with Subs now CU obviously you bring on Leandro master master class from you he scores in his first minute but keeping him happy keeping him hungry and making sure that they don't maybe not so in but they buy into what we are trying to achieve at Arsenal well we talked that listen the the competition is Big we have great players in in his position and they're going to have to accept that and we have a huge season ahead of us a long one and you need players to impact he did last year when he started when he was a sub today we had to do that and he gave us a headache now for the weekend how far off are you being fully equipped do you think do you think you need a few more bodies in the door to obviously go and push for that title well we are really happy with the with the score that we have it's true that we had an injury with gab Jesus as well that that we missed him and we had a little bit short but uh if we can do something we will do it but at the moment love the ones that we have that they are really really good is it a difficult balance muel at the start of a season particularly this one when you see the the level of fixtures that you've been dealt in these in these early few weeks particularly away from home although Brighton next week is a tough one as well at home but to to get that balance right between results and find the performances that you want from your team as well absolutely uh but I was I was watching the games today and and every game is just a it's just a big fight it's uh the standards of the league has gone again to a different level the the level of the coaches so every game is going to be really complicated you have to earn it and we will try two out of two obviously a lot of things to improve still but now focus on righton I think it's an interesting question from Le and I think this is the chatter amongst Arsenal fans as well Mikel going into this last week of the transfer window do you feel you have enough particularly at the top of the pitch enough options there to go through an entire season if everybody's fit yes but uh that's why we need a good availability from everybody uh we don't have 23 Outfield players and normally you have to be equipped like that we know we're not going to get there we have to trust some Academy players and make sure absolute sitter isn't it it's it's a tough one simply because as a a top stri like he's meant to be you're not meant to miss them chances those are the ones that you want those are the ones that You' head that to the right it's very easy the ball's not coming at him at PACE he could even take a touch there look at the goalkeepers on his he's on the Flor LA and again you know these chances you you you can't miss and you're if you miss chances of this caliber your team's probably going to lose you you can't miss go chances like that especially off his head right it's easier wasn't it come when do you think Ole Watkins takes those chances or is it just one of those things in football in football the most important is create chances of course if you not scoring is not is not finishing your walk but I am very happy how he progress after the first match he played in on on on Western and until today his process is his progress is been performing better and creating chances didn't score but do you expect it to be a busy week for Asen do you need it to be a busy week not bus but of course we have to try to to close our our our Squad with some circumstances we have now trying to to to be of time and space that he's got he could have a touch you know he could reassess himself is it anything to worry about do you think no I don't think so I I really don't and and I said to Jamie I said brilliant save there's no doubt about it from David ryer but it doesn't look like there's anyone more stunned in the stadium than OE Watkins that David ryers actually got back up Jamie what what do you think well I think it's it is obviously a wonderful save I'm going to take nothing away from the Save but look at the amount of the goal that ole has to put it into if he just guides that just to his right he goes in the keeper has no chance but it is a wonderful save I think if oie scores the first one he definitely scores this one as well I just think sometimes that happens brilliant save as well um but they're big moments in games if he scores that I I honestly think Aston Villa would have gone in a one the game was a key moment in the game wasn't it and I think that was the time where where Villa were actually pushing the button to to go and get that first goal you know the fans were off their seats I think what was disappointing at at the end you know with the two goals going in I just felt that Villa just kind of give up and deflated and that's that's my only concern I know you're coming up against the top side in Arsenal but you know you have to keep going you have to keep pressing and and believing and did you see that changing approach that Mikel ateta was referring to a more defensive Aston Villa yes I did because I mean that was one thing that was going to worry me this season about Aston vill I watched them in preseason and that High Line we we looked at and but it brought so much success yes it did but I think there's only so much you can do play that High Line they got exposed in preseason quite a lot by teams and I feel that it was only a matter of time and and you know playing from Midfield Jam is that it's all about having the timeing of making them runs at times you can play it but I think he's got a balance there where he knew that teams were going to come to Villa Park Villa were going to play that high line and the top teams would I think identify that they had to fire margins aren't they that's why I say I think honest if Aston Villa would have scored they could have sat back they look very comfortable in their shape they didn't really give Arsenal many opportunities but after that moment of missing that one you felt that astonvilla almost got a little bit Reckless is the wrong word but they were just trying to win they felt their three points are in our hands here we've got them come on the crowd start to get up you're attacking the whole end that's what you want that Sur that like in your in the ascendancy but once they scored it then obviously becomes a completely different game but there were some positives I thought Morgan Rogers today produced One of well the best individual performance of the season so for I thought he was absolutely magnificent certainly come on and talk to him in just a moment Jam just want to address the the upcoming games that Aston Villa have at the start of this season with with Uli we talked about the the really the really tough start for Arsenal perhaps it's it's not too bad actually for Aston Villa one game before the break yeah well just I mean do the prep to to this game I dib left the football club I think they need another option that at times he played Di and Bailey I think he needs another Winger that can obviously fluctuate at times he'll play that three where it is an attacking F but I just feel that times that balance it's just not quite there and I think another Outlet on that left hand side freeze up Bayers as well so whether it's a Raheem Sterling we'll
