We I don't know where this came from exactly, but have you guys seen the list of the highest paid coaches in the NFL and how the I mean, the money that the coaches are making, like we see these players making 50, $60 million in football, now you start to see coaches making major major bank. So Alex, if you could put it up on the screen for everybody, let's take a quick look at this. These are the these are the top five highest paid coaches in the NFL right now Andy Reid 25 million deserves it. You know browner you know why he deserves it. You know why he deserves it because because he's the best coach in the NFL. And you know what he's the best coach in the AFC West. No matter what you say about Jim Harbaugh he deserves that money. I will never say Andy Reid does not deserve his money. You will not find a negative argument from me. Okay, staying in the West, by the way Andy Reid Chiefs AFC West Sean Payton, the second highest paid coach in the NFL 18 million. No way. Yeah. Let me tell you something right now. Ain't no way Sean Payton has had a great career. Sean Payton may eventually go to the Hall of Fame, but Sean Payton, his career was in New Orleans. It was Drew Brees in his prime and the Denver Broncos were so desperate. And by the way, they were going through an ownership transition. They were so desperate because the previous ownership had hired Nathaniel Hackett, 14 games or whatever it was into the season, they decided to fire him. Okay. Yeah. And the new ownership came in and they're like, okay, who's the idiot that gave Russell Wilson all this money? And by the way, we gotta get a new coach and the hot guy at the time was Sean Payton because he was on TV and he won a Super Bowl. I've said it and I said it before he got the job. I'll say it over and over and over again. Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy are the exact same guy. They won a Super Bowl when they had a top quarterback in the prime of their career, and they've never done anything since. And listen, I'm rooting for Mike McCarthy. I like Mike McCarthy. You know. In fact, I'm kind of rooting for Sean Payton. But I definitely think that both of those guys will leave their current jobs. Dallas and Denver, with nothing to show for it other than a full bank account. I think we could start judging Sean Payton now from this year because they pay him. What . No because what the Broncos did this year was finally give him control. And when you have Sean Payton as your head coach, the same way you have Andy Reid as your head coach, you just gotta let him do his thing. You got to like the same way the Chargers do with Jim Harbaugh. Let him do his thing, let him build his team his way. You put Russell Wilson with him. He got out of that as fast as he could. He turned that season. They weren't terrible last year. They weren't for the situation. They were in. And now it's like, all right now you got your quarterback. Now you built your team. Now I judge you. So he wasn't doing it. His way from the day he got there. Yeah but w it's his. Now it's his type of players the players he wanted. The quarterback he wanted. Yeah I mean I think I think he was. Listen you say you can judge Sean Payton from now forward, here's the thing about Sean Payton. He's not going anywhere. They pay him too much. Money to send him anywhere. And they probably don't think that there's a better guy or a more qualified guy than what they've already got. I would say to you that you're going to start judging Sean Payton from now, going forward, because he did get rid of Russell Wilson, and he did go out and get a first round draft choice quarterback. And that kid is going to start, and he's going to be a captain of the team. But what are we really expect in year one from Bo Nix. Now maybe 2 or 3 years from now? I don't want to hear that. I don't want to hear that baby Sean. I want to hear. But why? Like Mike McCarthy took over the Cowboys. He had virtually the same sort of resume that Sean Payton had. When did the Packers win the Super Bowl? With Aaron Rodgers? 2010 ish. When did the Saints win the Super Bowl with Drew Brees? 2009 ish. So, so these guys are 15 years removed from being Super Bowl champions, but the owners have this thing in their mind that if he won a Super Bowl, he's he's he has the blueprint to do it over again. And the league changes every year. So that's why guys like McCarthy and Payton can demand big money. But what have they accomplished outside of the Super Bowl team that they had? If Sean Payton gives you the regular season production of Mike McCarthy in Dallas, I will be shocked. I will be shocked. I will drop my hate for Sean Payton if he can put up the regular season production that Mike McCarthy has in Dallas, because I think he went he went either he went eight nine last year, like that's the bar. That's the bar. I don't care if you have Bo Nix as your quarterback, you chose to move on from Russell Wilson last year. What I'm saying. Right. So the bar and it's the same thing for the bears. You chose to move on from Justin Fields. How many wins you get last year? Seven. Yeah that's the bar. If you don't hit at least eight nine wins. As a Broncos, it is a failure of a season. If the bears don't win more than seven games, it is a failure of a season. The bears don't. I'll I'll do you one better because you done came to the wrong person with tht type of talk. The bears don't win nine games. The bears don't finish above 500. The coach is fired. Well. And by the way, listen, you say Justin Fields, they moved on from Justin Fields. Remember? He was hurt for a bunch of games last year. And they decided they decided okay, well still. So there's your two games from 7 to 9. You've upgraded your quarterback. You got the number one overall pick. You got a guy who won a Heisman Trophy, and you got a guy who's supposed to be a transcendental talent. We'll see. Put put that list back up though, because when you go from Andy Reid deserves his money. Sean Payton for me, no jury's still out. Thanks. Jim Harbaugh, 16 million, we understand why the Chargers paid him. Because they were in a desperate situation. Well, you say worth every penny, but he hasn't coached a game yet. We'll find out. I know, I love how, like, Sean Payton wins one Super Bowl d it's like a waste of money. John Harbaugh Jim Harbaugh has zero. And it's like, worth every penny. Oh yeah. Of course worth they're worth every penny. Of course I guess we'll go back to the list one more time because all these coaches coaching the AFC West or the NFC West, Sean McVay at 15 million. Worth every penny. Worth every penny. In fact, I would argue underpaid. I think Sean McVay should be making more than Sean Payton. And then you got Kyle I wouldn't fight that. Yeah by the way I wouldn't doubt I wouldn't doubt that he does. And then you got Kyle Shanahan at 14 million there. There's your top five. This one's in trouble right now Kyle Shanahan. Yeah he need he need a Super Bowl because he's turning into the he's turning into the Dave Roberts of the NFL. But he ain't going disrespect no disrespect you. He ain't going anywhere. You know what I'm saying. Right. As far as narrative goes. Listen John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan that's a team like Les Snead and Sean McVay. That's a team. Here's my one question though. Those top five guys 25 18, 16, 15, $14 million, top five highest paid coaches in the NFL. Do we have any idea who the lowest paid coaches in the NFL? Because you used to be able to do it real easily. u just go, well, who do the Chargers have $4 million. I wonder who the lowest paid coaches in the NFL, maybe the Cardinals guy? I would say the Cardinals or the Panthers head coach. Okay. Because, you know, there's all these new head coaches, you mentioned the Cardinals. Maybe it's the Seahawks. You mentioned the Panthers. There's a lot of guys who are relatively new. Seahawks is a good Seahawks is a good one. The reason Im asking is this because I'm telling you right now I'm being selfish here okay. Hopefully I can sell you on why this is such an exciting game. The Padres top paid pitcher, the guy who really is supposed to be the ace of their staff is Yu Darvish. Alex, you'll have to fill in the blank for me. I don't think he is the top paid pitcher. Who is the top paid pitcher? Joe Musgrove. Oh, really? I thought Darvish made more than than than Joe Musgrove. I thought Musgrove was 20 million and I thought Darvish was somewhere around like 21 or 22. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he's 18. Whatever Okay, look Yu Darvish though, when was the last time he pitched for the Padres? It's got to be 29th in May, June, July, August. My man has been gone for three months now. You may be saying to yourself, well, who cares? I mean, lots of guys are gone for three months. I mean, this is the baseball season. Guys get hurt and then they come back. He he's a professional fifth inning. He's a professional. He's been in this league for more than a decade. He should be able to. And he should know what type of shape his body needs to be in to take the mound with no rehab assignments. So I just wanto take a listen to this Yu Darvish tonight on prize picks, player props here, more or less than five strikeouts. How would you play it? Less. Okay, all the losses. How many outs? How about this? More than one and a half walks allowed more. More than one and a half walks allowed. That's a demon play, that's going to be more than one walk. That's going to be more than one walk. But my whole point is the guy had no rehab starts. And if you don't need rehab starts, that means you're ready to go. So I'm expecting Yu Darvish to come out and give you five innings, two runs, 4 to 5 strikeouts. That's not unreasonable. That ain't crazy, I don't know. I mean three three months off. No rehab starts, I don't you know, Alex, you got darvish's numbers one more time. I know you put him up on the screen a second ago. Can you put him up one more time? Let's take a look at t he was doing before he went out. 11 starts, 56 innings, four and three. 3.2 ERA, 53 K's to 15 walks. Oh, I don't know if I like this play of one. He was striking. He was getting in a rhythm, Scott, the reason I say more is because in May he was struggling. He was walking dudes left and right. He was, what, three, two. Four, six. Those are those walk numbers. So I think that, you know, it's a long time off. Who knows what his command is. It's hot out. It's not hot normally in San Diego. So I just think that a lot of walks not a lot, but a few walks, a couple innings, three, maybe four. But what more can you expect for his first start? Well I'm, presuming rested. Yeah They didn't play yesterday. Yeah. If he's president look, you got to assume he's healthy, right? Body healthy. Let's assume that the question is, where's his head at? You know, and he's been back with the team for how long? What would you say? It's been about two weeks or so since he reported back to the team. Something like that. And he's been on the bench. You got to figure he's been in the in the weight room. You got to figure he's been watching film. You got to think that he's been you know like I don't know. However they do simulated games for him, I would think that he's gone through everything he needs to go through to be ready to go out tonight. And I would also think that the Padres are thinking to themselves, look, we don't need him to go a complete game. We don't need him to go six innings. We just need him to get himself back into pitching shape so that this is start number one. Today is September 4th, so that by the time we get to September, I'm making this up 28th. He's got four starts under his belt. Right. And this is different than Joe Musgrove Joe Musgrove came back from injury. Although you was on the injured list for a little bit this year. So it is different. So I understand where Browner's coming from. It's not like he has been struggling with an arm or an elbow. Correct But I just think me personally, I just don't expect too much from him today. I expect him to do well, just not for long. I'm not expecting. I don't think what I'm asking is too much for a guy who won't not let me correct myself, because I don't want to say that out loud, because I don't know it to be true for a guy who has no rehab starts, and for a guy who hasn't pitched as long as this season, the amount of time that he's been out, but also a guy who is a veteran pitcher should know his body, should know where he's at, where he can give you X amount of innings. If he only goes three innings, I'm going to boo him and he can hear me from my seats tonight. Oh, you got the good ones, Yeah. All right. Cool Hey, Detroit. Detroit is in a type of off. They've been winning games with pitching. They've been winning games because they don't allow a lot of runs. Their offense is not great. It's in the lower third of all of baseball.
