distraction. 505 Marcus, thank you. >> Let's get to Burlington County, where we had a man with a knife who tried to get into the Burlington County Institute of Technology. Scary scene. >> Hey, yeah, it was yesterday afternoon. >> It's funny, guys. I was just over at the Wawa a mile away asking people over there about it, trying to get a little sound. Talk about it. They had no idea what I was talking about. So I guess all's well that ends well, but it might not look that way yesterday afternoon, about closing time here at the Burlington County Institute of Technology. Listen, there was a dog that sniffed out what he thought were potential explosives in a white van out here. The whole thing started, guys, about 4:00 in the afternoon. Most of the classes were done for the day. But Medford police say they responded to reports of a guy trying to enter the building through different doors after having what they called contact with the school staff. We do not know the nature of that contact, but it was certainly enough for someone inside to call 911. In came Medford Police. As they arrived, they detained a fella that they've identified as 34 year old Gregory Nicholas of Tuckerton Road and that is when a Medford police K-9 unit hit on a possible explosive in the white van that Nicholas arrived in. And that is when the wider alarm went out and everybody, Lumberton, Evesham State Police, the fire marshal showed up. Certainly the state bomb squad. And it did take some time for them to sniff it out and determine that whatever it was, the dog pinged on in the van was no threat. Thank goodness at any rate, the suspect, Nicholas, is being charged with creating a false public alarm, trespassing, possessing a weapon on school property, which is that knife you were talking about, Karen and a couple of other charges as well. A big a fuss as it was. It could have been worse. Again it happened pretty much after all school activities were wrapped up for the day. The students who were engaged in those things and needed a ride home were moved to a different place. And then given their school busses to ride home. And so good job by the school staff, certainly by authorities, to keep everything clear and safe around here.
