hey everybody Welcome in garbage Time Sports Joe Shad here tonight going solo I wanted to recap the Fantastic Philadelphia Eagles game against the Green Bay Packers guys I had a lot of fun in this game if you've been watching our videos you know that we thought this game was going to be an offensive explosion and we got to start with Squan Barkley squin Barkley is one of the most Talent ented running backs in the league we know this we have seen flashes of it we know how high he was drafted in the first round if you really love football you saw him at Penn State and just thought wow this dude is going to be something else in the NFL and then the Giants absolutely wasted him wasted the prime of his career for a running back behind horrible offensive lines injuries overly worked all of the things that just drive running backs nuts and drive them into the round But Here Comes saquin Barkley with the best offensive line he has ever had in his career and what do you know he plays fantastic he does everything you ask him to do he catches the ball he caught a 25 yd wheel route for a touchdown it was absolutely outstanding great ball by Jaylen Herz as well and then he scores two more touchdowns one of them he just absolutely blows through the entire defense on a goal line is situation it was like the six-yard line bumbles and rumbles into the End Zone it was outstanding saquon Barkley is an amazing talent Giants fans have to be sick watching him on the Rival Philadelphia Eagles team scoring three touchdowns in his debut and he could have had the a fourth the Eagles were on the goal line and they decided to try a tush push on third down instead of turning around and handing it off or tossing it out to squin Barkley he could have had four touchdowns tonight fantasy owners rejoice I didn't quite see this one coming with saquan from a fantasy football perspective I thought Jaylen Herz would still be the guy that they trust inside the goal line and the fact that they tried to tush push at the one in order to get that drive done at the end of the game shows that Jaylen Herz is going to score a lot of these touchdowns down in the Red Zone but Sequon was outstanding tonight Sequon was a lot of fun to watch it's fun to watch great players in good situations it just is it's fun to watch Christian mcaffrey on the 49ers it's fun to watch saquin Barkley behind a good offensive line and it's going to continue to be fun to watch saquin Barkley behind a good offensive line and just in this offense in general good offensive line good to above average Quarterback we know when you're talking about Jaylen Herz nobody quite knows where he fits we thought that he was going to be in that Elite Class whenever you get to that Super Bowl run he was outstanding but then last year totally falls off a cliff whenever he loses Shane Sten as the off defensive coordinator Shane Sten is outstanding all the best to Shane Sten in Indianapolis this year and last year he was very good got Gardner muu to nine wins awesome year for Shane Sten that's neither here or there can Kell Moore get Jaylen Herz back yes and no tonight Jaylen Herz was very up and down two touchdowns also two interceptions made a lot of plays that they needed made some plays that almost cost them the game he had two or three ball that could have should have would have been intercepted in a lot of scenarios in NFL football but he gets the breaks tonight he can still run and use his legs enough to make things happen for the offense whenever the offense is breaking down around him Devonte Smith AJ Brown both are very sure-handed wide receivers both absolutely tough as Nails AJ Brown another game over a 100 yards receiving and a touchdown Devonte Smith with a couple of big plays big catches especially in that last drive that I want to talk about in just a second this offense is loaded I didn't even mention Dallas Gard I didn't even mention that they traded for Jan doson who didn't do much tonight but I still believe in Jan Dotson from Penn State the dude was awesome in college he's got to be something in the NFL I'm going to hold on to that hope but the most impressive thing about the Eagles tonight I thought was that last Drive of the game they had they got the ball with with 7 minutes and 52 seconds left in the game 7 minutes and 52 seconds and by the time that drive ended there was 27 seconds left and they were up five and they made the Packers burn all of their timeouts that's how good the Eagles were tonight and not every offense not every quarterback is able to do that that quarterback has to be disciplined with the football he has to make the right reads he's got to trust his teammates to do what needs to be done he's got to use his legs a little bit to pick up some first downs Jaylen Herz was phenomenal in that last Drive the offensive line was phenomenal in that last Drive giving him enough time to make those decisions and to just let saquon Barkley run behind them and pick up some easy yardage to really keep that clock going and going and going and going the Eagles could have put this one away with a touchdown there at the end but they don't quite get it done Jaylen Herz fumbles on a tush push that is unlike him but saquin jumps on it they settle for a field goal no problem but that's what was the most impressive thing for me that the Eagles did 752 left in the game they give the ball back to the Packers with 27 seconds left they made the Packers burn all of their timeouts in order to get there and they got a field goal out of it which put them up five meaning the Packers had to go get a touchdown really impressive stuff there by The Eagles I think the Eagles are just going to get better their secondary is very young their secondary is very bad it was bad tonight Green Bay Packers receivers open all over the place we'll get to the Packers in a second I think the Eagles are going to keep getting better I think the Eagles have more room to grow especially defensively in that secondary the defensive line was very solid tonight the offense was solid tonight but we know Jaylen Herz can play even better will he I don't know was that Super Bowl run the peak of Jaylen Herz it's definitely possible that he's kind of a oneandone as far as that Elite last goes but I think he can clean up the turnovers at least to make him an even better quarterback even if he doesn't do anything spectacular outside of what he did tonight if he just cleans up the turn turnovers two interceptions two or three balls that should have been interceptions a forced fumble that saquan recovered and then a miscommunication on the snap that he wasn't ready for and luckily their defense even though the Packers get the ball in the Red Zone off of that turn over on the fumble the defense is able to hold the Packers to three points so the Eagles didn't pay too much tonight for Jaylen herz's mistakes but they will in the future whenever it's not game one when it's not in Brazil when the nerves aren't going crazy when everybody is operating at a higher level nobody plays in the preseason anymore everybody this is their first time seeing live action in 6 months so it's going to look sloppy it's going to look Rusty September football has become a little bit of a crapshoot super fun to watch but a little bit of a crapshoot penalty got lore all stuff that we need to clean up about the game all stuff that needs to get cleaned up in these individual teams but tonight I was impressed with the Eagles I like the eagles this year the Eagles were my number one seed in the NFC predicted this year I know that's contrary but you can flip that on me and say Hey Joe you also had the Packers with being a Super Bowl participant I do I do have the Packers being being in the Super Bowl this year but I do have the Eagles being the best team of the regular season so we'll see how that plans out on the Packers side a lot of similar thoughts to the Eagles honestly Jordan love was very good although sporadic at times especially in the second half he started missing throws put some balls behind guys he started feeling the pressure tried to move around a little bit the field conditions were absolutely horrible but he looked like a very good quarterback in this league he is now paid like a very good quarterback in this league he lived up to the hype for today for the most part I thought the Packers defense is going to be a bit of a problem though they were 23rd in defense last year sixth in offense the defense needs to improve especially in the secondary now the Eagles offense is very talented we know that so it's going to be tough to slow them down you're not going to look great against Devonte Smith and AJ Brown you're just not but they have to look better those guys are running wide open a lot tonight that defense is going to be a problem but the Packers offense did look tough the Eagles offense just looked better Jaylen Reed huge game tonight had a rushing touchdown had a receiving touchdown over a 100 yards receiving as well Jaylen Reed looks like the number one wide receiver in that offense he didn't get peppered with targets but nobody in this Green Bay offense is going to get peppered with targets because they have so many options they have a couple of tight ends they got Wicks dos Watson Reed they got guys all over the place not to mention Josh Jacobs get to him in a sa the Packers have all sorts of options to go to down the stretch and at the end of games and throughout the course of a game so nobody's going to dominate targets for the Packers but Jaden Reed looks like the number one guy for Green Bay he looked like the number one guy for Jordan love he was looking for him constantly just didn't get the ball I think the Eagles knew they had to try to take away Reed but Reed was able to have a very good night even with that going on I'm not worried about either one of these teams I think this is a place to grow for the Packers and for the Eagles I thought they both played fine first game bad field conditions we weird conditions being in Brazil in general not being able to leave their hotel room for two days once they got there all the stuff you heard about and everything that you probably know more than I do because I focus on the games not everything surrounding the game so much I'm not worried about either one of these teams long term I think both defenses need to clean it up I think both defensive lines are solid offensive lines are solid weapons are fantastic quarterbacks are good to very good wherever you want to land on that J Jaylen Hertz Jordan love conversation that's totally up to you the only bad thing I will say about these teams tonight is watching Thursday night football and then watching Friday Night Football I think Thursday Night Football had two better teams than the two teams that were playing in Friday Night Football and I think it comes down to defense I think the defense has popped off the screen a little bit more I won't even say a little bit a lot more than they did on Friday night and maybe the Eagles and the Packers are just that talented on offense maybe they're just that good but I find that hard to believe because Baltimore also has a lot of explosive pieces Kansas City looked explosive last night as well they didn't put up that many fewer points against each other than this team did tonight so if I'm looking for a nitpick here I think the Chiefs and the Ravens are better than the Packers and the Eagles but I think we all knew that going into the season I think we all expected that so that's not even something that you can really write home about it was a lot of fun tonight it was a really good game I liked it I wish we could clean up the penalties but that's just September football now cuz nobody plays in the preseason but that's something I think that will get cleaned up
