2024 UH Football Prediction Show

Aloha and welcome to a live studio audience okay maybe not an audience but live in the studio our AA Studios ho sports fans bringing you the rainbow wrapup and of course Wayne quto here Sean I'm in what's up everybody and of course Ryan Su what's up Ryan it you know uh if you've been listening to our show we've had two pod C on our new season it feels like a new season we're supposed to be going through the whole year but took a little sabatical um to get things straight and um also because we were all traveling all over the place if you go to hiis sports fans.com you can see some of our recent trips like Japan and our men's volleyball tour and Otani of course um but it is uh football season so we're going to get into that but we talked about Delaware state on our last show had some issues I don't know Ryan do we know if they're here for sure they made it finally took him an extra day but they showed up at 7 am this morning at H&L so they're on island so apparently it was their bus company that yeah bus company came out with a statement there were you know obviously a lot of jokes and whatnot about them not wanting to show up and um but yeah apparently Hawaiian took care him at JFK so yep they're here I can't imagine anybody not wanting to show up to Hawaii though right yeah I mean I guess the doe is not the only problem people with problems with the bus they should have sent a doe bus maybe that was the problem but we had a great show um actually two shows if you listen to our second show we put out a special on Tuesday it was about my 100th game so Delaware State be 100 games in a row of course um there were some games that no fans were allowed into the building so we're not counting those but um you know I didn't expect a pandemic to happen but I still tried actually every game and U was denied mostly so uh in the games that I could get into as a fan or even U one game in particular Fresno State our first game 2020 Todd Graham's first game which was a great game actually winning um at Fresno State that was during the pandemic and I was there which was really cool representing Hawaii sports fans so if you actually look at a live show we have from Fresno State um but we are just going to do our uh football prediction show today something we do every year um last year we got pretty close Okay and by we I mean me because these two actually got the right amount of wins um but what was your philosophy going into last year then Sean uh just trying to use the past year and what you think what you see at practice and just you know just guessing basically so kind of using your instincts and you know just going through it so so we got this board here we're g to keep the score make sure that people um can be held accountable once it's written down with this dry eras if I don't happen to accidentally wipe it off then at least we'll be set in stone I guess uh but Ryan last year um the schedule was a lot different than this year we had 13 games last year this year we only have 12 and a lot of different opponents so looking at just this the opponents this year compared to last year where do you rank this schedule and Str uh we definitely have a weaker schedule so you know it's a lot easier for us this season uh you know well we've got two FCS opponents uh so for a lot of you guys that don't know only one of them could count towards a bll game if we're going to make a bll game this year we need to have six and only one of them will count towards that so that doesn't mean we'd have to go seven and five this season for a bowl that's if yeah that's if we we can't count since we have two FCS opponents we'll talk about can only count one but I know it's still something that bothers you Sean right yeah this schedule sucks let's not beat around the bush like I I don't I it's been very frustrating like we should have a 13th game we could have played Delaware state in week two we could have played San Jose State in week week zero this game we would have been on national TV I just feel like this was a huge blown opportunity um you know we're the all there's five games this weekend and we're the only one not on national TV and this is a week week zero that was basically made to help you who always you know had the Hawaii exemption or for a long time has had the ability to schedule other schools and for those other schools to be able to um add an additional game which is um good for them but if you're in the chat uh let us know if you have thoughts as well we're going to go down the list first game um is this Saturday obviously Delaware State uh 38 and a half Point underdogs they come in TC Ching so I mean we talked about this game first week I'll let you go first Ryan give us your score prediction write them all down I'm gonna I'm gonna do a quick shout out to Jimmy uh with our fans from Nebraska we've been talking a little bit this week I did I did give a go little go back and forth with him as far as our score prediction but I'm going to go with 4510 uh uh this weekend so I initially I wasn't sure about our offense uh you know first game Jitters you know we have we definitely have some problems with things like false starts and holds and stuff like that you know substitutions and timeouts but I'm gonna stick with my 45 to1 right now all right Sean what do you say uh I'm I'm with Ryan um I'm not sure if we can get to 50 but I I've got this score 43-6 if there's a monsoon for some reason I'm going to go 31 to3 well we'll take the first one because the rain luckily is not supposed to start till Sunday so if you are worried about the upcoming impending storm then know that it's not going to be apparently till Sunday where it get really bad um so that's just me I also think we're gonna win this game I'm gonna say 51 to6 I think we do get to the 50 Mark so yeah that'll be for game one all right game two well there's a promotion right there's some kind of special $10 promotion that's right 1050 so there's no excuses to why you shouldn't see this guy's 100th game yeah it's gonna be a party bring a poncho bring a poncho um but yeah but the following week will be a TC Ching again it'll be a 1:30 afternoon start so it's going to be very sunny there and that's another why uh football is going to be on a different sideline going to take the Makai sideline this year and you'll see our gang we're always right there on that corner of the maai and Eva Endzone uh so we're excited about the team being closer to us um but come say hi like we said it's a 100th games so that'll be fun to celebrate but on Delaware but UCLA 101 if I make it um we'll let you go first with this one Sean okay well I've wanted wanted to play UCLA here in Honolulu since I was a little kid and they've just never put us on the schedule so I've been waiting all this time and you know we're they're finally here but I have us losing 17 to 47 so Sean loss 17 to 47 okay yes all right so that's gonna be the first loss of the Season according to Sean Ryan what do you say yeah I'm gonna you know even though UCLA's got a new coach they're you know a little iffy on their returners uh I I think their ranking their predict rankings in the 90s for uh this year but I'm gonna go with the Lost 2145 2145 wow okay all right so that just Lees myself I don't think UCLA is that great of a team but we said that about Stanford last year as well but I think like Stanford we'll keep it closes for a little while so I say the score will be more like uh UCLA I'll say 3525 is I'm going to say we'll lose we're going to lose in my opinion but I think 2535 I'll say shout out to anyone in the chat who thinks we're going 12 and0 but I think UCLA is a I don't want to say winnable but a game that we do we could win I guess that's what winnable means but um get chance get chance because it's at home and UCLA like you said is new coach coach and you know a lot of new players so we'll see and especially with the pending weather uh that's going to go on through next week uh you know if it's if it's a pouring rain game it's it's anyone's at that point rain is the great great equalizer that's true and shout out to our running backs especially Landon Sims got his um scholarship tonight presented to him by his uh father as well so that was pretty cool which is uh Travis Sims obviously one of our uh played an iconic game the 92 Holiday Bowl which a lot of uh fans is still one of the best games probably for uh fan I'm sure do you remember watching that game absolutely yeah I I absolutely remember watching my dad bought me the shirt for Christmas wow yeah um not the Holiday Bowl Holiday Bowl champions that's right Holiday Bowl champions so we'll talk about you know San Diego where that game was will be back not in the same stadium as the Holiday Bowl maybe in the same stud Stadium as a new Holiday Bowl actually I think the Holiday Bowl was at TECO anyways I'm getting off track because we have to talk about Sam Houston game three Sam Houston is a team that recently transitioned from FCS to FBS so this is not the other FCS team but in a way they kind of are um because you know they struggled last year for most of the year and then they picked it up at the end of the year so this will be be interesting one who wants to go first with this one I think it should be you it should be me okay so I think this one will be tight actually um but I really think we can win this game so I'm gonna give us the win and I'm GNA say that we're gonna win uh 30 okay hold on hold on okay yeah okay yeah I'm gonna say we're going to win 31 to 24 and CL one okay yeah all right so that puts us as two wins already um last year I only predicted that we would win four games we won five so this is already halfway through the amount of that I predicted last year Ryan we'll let you go next um we'll quick quick little shout on this one too I'll be there with ha sports fans um there's a few of us going for Sam Houston there uh I'm picking a win for this one uh six o'clock Game Central Standard Time uh but I'm going to go 30 to 13 in Huntsville so wait who Winn 30 to 13 30 to 13 wow okay Ryan's got 30 to 13 a win probably can't see them all but here you go I'm keeping track kind of lopsided but no I guess that leaves me so I think this be a close game um I I have Hawaii winning 27 to third to 23 27 2 put us at two and one awesome yeah I'm writing too high our score predictions they're not in line complely but um in any case all of us have Hawaii winning the first two of the three games so that'll be interesting if we can do that and especially because the fourth game is not going to be total Barnstormer either um although the Barnstormers was the name of an AFL team who was quarterback by one Kurt Warner who graduated from Northern Iowa so for Kurt Warner connection and um Kurt Warner is not the quarterback right now though so he's in the movies made a movie about his life but um what do you gotta say Sean why don't you take this one first I think it' be a tough game um I got us winning 31 to 20 to put us at three and one through the first four games all right 3120 Sean's got us well so three and one what Sean's got us out what about you Ryan so I actually had something written down I feel like I'm gonna change it real quick so I'm gonna go 3517 uh wow 3517 uh other win and you know what I'm gonna have to keep it going I think uh will get this win as well um and they're gonna win I'm gonna say 3430 oh B one okay I think it'll I think yeah Northern will have some fire and maybe we'll get a little lazy at the end we'll see I mean you know these games are not easy to pick because we are fans too we want to see the team win all their games obviously but um being realistic also is there are other teams that are going to come out and play harder than we realize or we know we don't know every team perfectly I mean I'll admit that as well but I think um you know for the first three games three wins is doable for sure and maybe even they're supposed to so this is chalk we all have the same kind of picks yeah yeah so we'll see if it continues because Here Comes San Diego State at SDSU Hawaii Sports we got a trip we'll see San Diego State we'll see the Rams and Packers and we'll also see W volleyball Friday night before Friday night at UC San Diego it's great um there's so many cool areas so that's why I'm saying during the game you really for people like me that like walking around stadiums he's already told us I'm not going to be in my seat I'm going to be walking a really cool bar there that's like in one of the corners on like the top looking down and um we got a shout out to Sons of monuma the best podcast for uh San Diego State athletics and our buddies as well um we'll see them there at the game too but last time I told him if we keep the scoring low we have a chance even though I told him I don't think we're going to win but that's happened last time we kept the scoring low we scored a go-ahead touchdown with under a minute left and we and blew it and blew it and then our kicker kicked the ball out of bounds gave them great field position and they marched right so last time though San Diego State was using a a defensive back as quarterback um they had some issues there so I think that I think he was still the quarterback last year though so I guess they kept him around but this year um it'll be interesting back at San Diego State so uh Ryan you want to take this one first yeah U I have a sent a close one but it's going to be a loss so I've got San Diego State 24 Hawaii 21 okay another this one's G I think it's gonna be a low scoring one this this year oh I put it under Ryan I put it under the W okay okay okay I'll go next um I really want to I see this is probably the game that I pick as a loss that I want to pick as a win so much so because we're all going to be there so I've got us losing very similar to Ryan 20 to 24 I think it's going to be a close game they have a new coach uh we we've played well over there yeah recently so that used to be our house of hores um I got this game close as well as as a loss as well I really think it's a win game I'll put that out there but it's it's just hard for us to win there so I'll say 1720 we're going to lose U we got a shout out brother moku he's got some of his predictions up as well check it out in the um in the chat he's got us beating Delaware State what 427 UCLA he thinks we're gonna win course 20 oh he put 28 21 boys I hope I hope he's right all right so moku um he's got us undefeated all the way so far right brought moku let let's see it I would love to because boy is coming into town uh Team we haven't played in Hawaii in a long time a few years um a team that we played in the Mountain West championship game five years ago which is really insane to think about has been that long I mean 2019 was such a great year and it feels like yesterday honestly it really does kind of makes me sad I won free tickets to that from Mountain West to CHS how cold was that game in December it was I don't remember it being super cold like I remember it being cold though but I had my um my snowboarding pants which was Overkill I remember it being like super overcast like it was just kind of dark the whole game the Sun never came out honly and the stands were only maybe two-thirds full like o he didn't I don't think it was their most well attended game I think that was the infamous fuchsia catching a ride back right yes so that was the game um so shout out Joyce Lao who made the suggestion to Dave Matlin to let fuchsia on the planes so she could leave the Mountain West Championship to make it home in time for the home of the marathon which she ran big deal with her family so that was that's a solid memory from that game as well we also had a great tailgate beforehand o sport fans we also flew down to La the next day and went to Ram Saints game at the Coliseum so um come check us out though we got some some trips this year but boisey will be at home I'm gonna go first with this one I you know boisey is a good team obviously and I think it's going to be hard for us to keep up I would love at home you know for us to have a good first half and I think we will but I say that Boise runs away kind in the second half so I'll take it as a loss um that we lose 24 to uh 37 all right oh I wrote it under the r am might this why do I keep doing that I keep writing weird wait what did I say 24 to 37 yeah okay okay John oh Boise we haven't beaten them since 2007 so yeah we we usually don't play them very well I've I've got us losing 23 to 49 drop us to three and [Music] right Ryan yeah I've got similar I've got Boise 55 uh7 with the loss so yeah uh you know we'll see we're at home hopefully we've got some things ironed out both both sides of the ball but you know Boise's one of the dark horses to uh run the table and make it to the football playoffs in the in the 12 spot so we'll see yeah this would be a tough game but like we said if this was a win this could be a year that this could be a a changer for uh um let's go definitely be I mean San Diego State is going to be the first to me true measure because we're not far from San Diego State in terms of where we are they're ahead of us I would say but we're not far but Boise is kind of far ahead so if we won that game that would that would mean a lot um especially the following week we'll be going to Pullman Washington if you're coming with Bo sports fans we'll be in Spokan uh we'll be doing tours of uh three states actually we'll have Idaho as well and Montana um with Eastern Washington sightseeing as well because all those states are really close by each other and there's some really beautiful areas up there especially Montana is very beautiful um so come join us hiis Sports fans.com and if you want to go on the plus tour you can fly with us from Spokan airport on Sunday morning to see Raiders at Rams and sit right on the right on the visiting tunnel if you're a Raiders fan this is a great trip I mean I don't have to talk about Raiders if you haven't heard Raiders I have to shout out you know the fact that they are that annoying but still they have great fans yeah great fans and they they they um will say Raiders I've been on flights with them to Kansas City hearing Raiders all through the flight on the way back after Kansas City Wallops them you hear Raiders the whole way back on the flight so nothing will phase Raider fans so that's how Hawaii fans have to be I guess sometimes as well but uh Sean we'll go with you first for Washington State I really wanted to go to this game I I would have gone if Seattle the Seattle Seahawks played in Seattle the next day but I have us losing 20 to 34 20 to 34 I'm just giving them an update it's kind of lopsided but here's all the games we're gonna post some more um cohesive yeah drops you to three and four what was the score again sorry 20 to 34 okay yeah okay what did you say Ryan I literally have the same thing written down on my right2 all right 2034 um yeah I think Washington State's are a little bit higher than us but I'll say that uh we lose this game as well and I'll say uh 21 to 33 so we all have the same picks so all this has never happened before so through the first um I mean seven games we have H three and four what about brother moku oh brother moku you haven't kept your um your fan predictions going on the on chat um but Nevada is at home the following week last year the Nevada game was a good one for Hoy Sports we a great tour um we had a good driver at Ryan as well um but that was a big win for uh it really turned a lot around and going on the road and winning particularly doesn't matter where we go but to win on the road is always a big deal it was an early game last year as well so we were tailgating pretty early in the parking lot which was so fun um that was one of our best tailgates yeah yeah I mean I don't know how to we talk about tailgate so much on this show but tailgating is awesome it's so fun like and the thing is you don't it doesn't even matter where you go that's the thing about Tok you don't even need a facility that's the whole point all you need is space literally opportunity um it really has nothing to do with you know making a a really beautiful structure to host it just giving us space like we said in you're in Oregon last year and Eugene and we had pretty expensive parking right next to the stadium when we were still in a cloud of dust the entire time um because they wasn't even paved where we were so we were next to some guys that had a couple TVs going pretty elaborate setup they're right behind the baseball field if you want to look it up on the Google Maps or something but that's the point it's like we we just need space and we really hope the school I mean it's exciting that at least the last game of the year we'll have tailgating um but we would like to see it more often uh but Nevada Ryan want to go first and down start off again I've got us I think Nevada's getting better as a team but I still think Hawaii wins this one especially being at home so I'm taking a Hawaii 3817 okay big win all right I also think that we're gonna win this game also just a familiarity that's Rolo always played Nevada well as well um and Timmy also coached there as well just like Rolo so I think that has a lot to do with it just the confidence you're going into the game with a team you know so I'm going to say Hawaii wins this game as well and I'll say they win it uh 35-21 kind of a boring score but okay Sean yeah Nevada has a new coach uh I think Timmy's very familiar with with this team so I'm gonna have I have us winning 33 to 16 and we are all the same and I believe the previous coach was hired at the same time as yes as well so they're already turning over trying a new Direction um when you have to you know applaud programs like that who are aggressive um Reno is I have to admit a changing City and getting better at my opinion every time I go back I feel like it's growing it looks different um it's really almost like a Boye like they little town right yeah they have a potential to um to grow themselves as well with the casino money in town and uh we'll see that that happens um but we're back on the road Fresno State come join us on hi sports.com as well go to Fresno uh we're also G to be doing an NHL game in Anaheim and NBA game at the brand new Clippers uh into it dome and Englewood it's the most state of the Ark arena in the NBA now uh twice the amount of restrooms that's what they love to brag about which is important right you don't want to miss too much of the day you go go yes twice the amount of restrooms I mean if you've been to a place like the Boston Garden which is like horrible for using the bathroom actually most Arenas are pretty bad the G the G the Celtics but um come join us that's what we'd love to do make most of your time facilities matter facilities definitely matter but also yeah it's nice when the the number two guy Microsoft owns the team I guess you can build a lot as well um but yeah the Clippers game will be awesome fortunately no football games that week um but we do have a rainbow y he tour which you should go check out as well flon and Irvine with two NBA games and two NFL games back toback game that's SOI Stadium the Rams and the Chargers check it out uh but Fresno State uh two years ago we were there we got pum uh last year um did we play no we didn't play last we skip last year yeah that was the one team that we didn't play which is strange because we play them basically every year yeah we had played them for like 44 years in a row or something yeah that is strange but fr's back on the on the schedule we're back there again um hopefully not a repeat of 2022 that that game was horrible and I came I drove all the way from La seeing lafc win the MLS Cup it's one of the best games of my life to driving up to getting Fresno people yelling at me and making all kinds of mockery so that was my commitment that day I went from cloud n to Fresno so Sean give us your prediction uh new coach you know it's unfortunate what happened to their coach but I have us losing 17 to3 okay 1730 so when we beat Fresno four years ago at um coach to Gram's first game that coach is now at a much much bigger job than he was back then Kell dor the coach of Alabama so that show you go from Fresno to Alabama and be the coach um but Ryan what do you say for this game you know we just struggle over there uh I'm gonna go with Fresno 4221 4221 Fresno okay yeah it's a hard place for us to play I'm G give us the L as well even though I think that you know we we'll play them um with some level of Pride like that's a team we always just want to play well you not going for us um but yeah I'm going to say we lose this game I'm going to say 22 to 41 I'm say they we had some big wins there too though yeah 22 to 41 I'm just giving all kinds of strange strange scores but so so far have you rack it up we all the same all of us are all the same two three four so we have four wins to five losses through nine games that gives us was three games left UNLV at home for the big pineapple big pineapp it's not as big as it used to be yeah they changed it right used to be really massive yeah what's the name of the cup wait what's the of the trophy the what is it oh ninth Island ninth Island oh God I hate never mind just call it the big pineapple big pineapple yeah that unlv's really kind of turned things around I I have this it's a rivalry game I have us losing 30 to 27 30 to 27 close game though yeah um what about you Ryan uh I've got us opposite I just you know watching them last season uh and especially you know their their facilities are getting better they're getting some influx of that Raiders money uh I have UNLV 4221 okay they were a very talented team last year and and I'm expecting the same this year even though we're at home yeah all right well that just leaves me what shall I [Music] say go I feel like we could win this game because we're at home but I would say two guys that did a little bit of homework and the Ws on the Fly I mean I I did homework but it's like he's Eminem it's it's the Mountain West like I I really believe like the fact that even where we are as a program I don't think too many other programs within our conference which whom we should be measuring ourselves against more than anybody else um but yeah unov has some great players this year as well so I'll say that they get the win um but we'll score some points I'll say um 28 to 35 I mean to his credit he should know all these teams fairly well over the years that's true I've seen them all play over the years I've been to every single one of these campuses um just like I went to Logan Utah last time was two years ago maybe was there so yeah the bowl bowl doesn't look very promising at this point it doesn't but we have two games left so who wants to go first with Utah State I mean I can go for itan you know November 16 I think it is and Logan uh if you're if you live in Hawaii bring like eight layers or whatever you know it's gonna be cold uh I've got Utah State 4228 I think it's going to be a tough game and I you know I I have no idea what that temperature is going to be but I don't think it's gonna be pretty it's really hard to win there I mean I've been to Logan at least twice maybe three times um and it's really hard to win there it that's the hardest thing is I don't think Utah State's GNA be that good either so it'll have to do with the what okay I let Sean go first though okay um yeah I think it's me cold Hawaii Boys in in the cold I I I have us losing 13 to 31 13 3 so I have us at four and seven what are we gonna do um okay you can cut the tension with the [Laughter] spork are you are you are you with us are you gonna go against us I mean I feel like well we talk about every year that we win a game that we're not suppos that happens so I'm thinking because I just don't think Utah State's going to be that good anything so maybe I have to go out on the limb just like when we beat Wyoming in Todd Graham's last game in the cold it wasn't super cold but it was still pretty cold I GNA say Hawaii gets the win Hawaii win I love it and I want to say that it's uh 30 to uh 27 last second field goal Tokyo I think we're gonna improve too so I'll say we beat Utah State at Logan that'll be the one game that is gonna be the Shocker this year um and New Mexico I'll go first yeah it's senior night and we always play well senior night but last year that was our worst game in Albuquerque um but it's senior night and we always got good senior night Juju so I'm goingon to say that we win this game and we actually win it uh 42 to uh 3 six let see wow okay so you have I think that New Mexico yeah so I'm gonna say six and six wow still not enough for a bow we'll see it's possible even if five it' be technically five and six I guess so we'll see they could be both eligible we could be we could be if there's not enough they don't have enough yeah but I think uh well let's see what you say Ryan uh yeah monoa magic senior KN uh I've got uh winning 3824 wow4 to go five and seven five and seven what about you Sean yeah I I have us winning pretty convincingly 4316 wow okay so finish at five and seven all right so last year I picked us to win four games this year I'm saying six Ryan do you have any Kool-Aid I drank it all Wayne drank it all for that Logan I mean to me if we have a 5050 game I think it's San Diego State in San Diego is going to be you know the one that weren't expected to win but you know week out of Victory uh but you know there there's some dark horses I think Washington State could be an interesting one uh you know if we're Midway through the season here and clicking a little bit I think there's potential there uh but yeah you've got some tough ones and that mid that mid section of our schedule that Boise Fresno UNLV might be you know kind of rough right there so we'll see how that goes give you guys a little bit can you see a little bit yeah okay so you can kind of see but Sean Sean give us your perspective your overarching philosophy with yeah I I really wanted us to I really wanted to get to six and I just I couldn't find a path to it but I I definitely think it's possible even seven that would be great I think Timmy needs to get that to get an extension this this off season I think we have some depth at quarterback wide receiver and on the defensive side quarterback question marks are special teams in o line so um I think the coaching staff is improved um it's just it's hard for me to find that sixth win how about you win I you know I think that it's possible to get six wins but it might not be in the games that I picked but I think six wins is possible I mean a lot because our schedule is weak I'm GNA be honest but also because I think there are teams that have slid beneath us I think Utah state has slid and they're you know at one time we the best team in Utah even better than the you know you and BYU they were competitive but those days are gone uh Jordan love is gone um you know I don't think that they're the same program as they were before and kind of like us we might be slipping away from talking FBS no so I'm saying like we we can um relate I think in terms of um a bit of a fall as a program and I think that um we're still in the up build as well but wins is possible and I think even if we don't go to a bowl game that um Timmy will show enough Improvement especially if we you know win the last two games of the season I mean what we have really all of us is kind of a glut of losses in the middle more towards the middle of the Year and that can that can hurt teams I mean when we beat San Diego at home in 2018 uh we had to win the last what three two or three games of the year to be able to get bow eligible so I mean that was amazing to go into San Diego and win it um like I said it's San Diego sayate that's I think that is a winnable game as well like I said um we might uh not be able to keep up with uh some of the other teams offenses but I feel like there are teams in the Mountain West that you know are not huge I don't know some some of these games I'm lucky on my score I think I might have picked very high scores but um now that I'm looking at it again but I think that uh they're all you know within reach I would say I think outside of boisey would be tough is at home I mean like in every game we could be in it put it that way potenti yep potentially maybe that like you said Boise uh I don't know to me you know even though we beat UNLV and Nevada that year was a couple years ago both both games were home but that team I just I think they could run away with it real quick too yeah uh but yeah there's a lot of chance this season so a lot of potential lots of potential so give us your predictions as well put in the chat comment um we love those 12 and O's yeah I mean that used to be us too let's be honest I mean when I was seven but still like we're going to win every game which our hearts one time it happened it did happen we were 12 and0 when we could have games too so that would be a nice um call back I guess this year if we are able to run the table which in years past I would say this is a run the table type of schedule I mean nobody on this schedule is so much Juggernaut yeah such a juggernaut I mean know USC or yeah UCLA is gonna be supposedly more down and you know this year they'll be playing big 10 schools uh so they're going to have a way different schedule than they've had in the past as well and doing a lot more travel so that should affect them yeah they get to fly further so apparently ruter is like 50 miles further than Hawaii so they're they're flying further for that game than coming over here for their first game of the season crazy um but any other game Sean that looking at it you're like I don't know maybe I could go another way not that you're gonna change but I'm saying like well yeah I I see the San Diego State and even the the fres Fresno State Fresno will be interesting because like I said two years ago they walled us pretty bad um but I hope that uh you know this year we like we said we even two years ago we were just looking for competence we just wanted to see sustained drives we wanted to see first downs and I think this year now with you know like you said coach Maron yeah with Coach Chang also being more comfortable for sure um and we talked about him and his in-game decision making is going to be something that we pay attention to a lot because it does have an effect on the game when he's calling all his timeouts in the third quarter um but you know those are things that happen when you aren't used to being behind the helm and it's a tough job you have all these people on the sideline not just the players but the other coaches are looking at you so um I think coach Chang has stepped into the role comfortably though um but it is year three so I think people are going to expect more of him so what are you guys thinking as far as you know the new helmet communication this season is that help or hurt uh especially when it comes to our our great use of timeouts as we've shown in the past couple years well it should help I mean uh there's not going to be any sign stealing right in theory in theory Al so not gonna have the the bo things yeah yeah Todd yelling who did he yell at the kid yeah yeah the kid yeah yeah he got really angry at him oh well no more of that then in the future yeah let's just hope it all works and you know we've seen it in MLB with you know their pitcher catcher manager type stuff and that thing goes out all the time so you know we'll see how communication goes and we also know with hoi and our PA system at home how well that works sometimes so hopefully it's all smooth but yeah we're going to be on a different s then this year so they can see you know AC cross into the box um you know so hopefully it's forur the better so who uh will be calling plays this year do we know that for sure I do oh I don't know that yeah that's a good question I don't think that they've talked about that yeah that would would have been a question for call the coach no yesterday you were at call the coach though Ryan what what gems came out of that anything uh you know I was impressed by Dennis Thurman talking last night uh you know he seems very confident um I know he's kind of stepped into a different position for him being a true DC right now uh but yeah the way he talked about it you know this team his players and you know he's pretty pumped about this season uh had a nice little chat with Dan Morrison last night so shout out to him uh just talking about some old school stuff from like 10 15 years ago but Texas football stuff so you know just super sharp mind and memory uh remembering a lot of guys that I played with that you know it's kind of in the back of my head but yeah it was just you know he's definitely still got it um are you looking to be a graduate assistant on this staff I think I'm a little past that but uh you know he offered he offered I was like hey I'm happy to wear a headset and listen in what about you Sean any thing that did you hear the show I did not I was at a hip oh a wine dinner with my buddy Sky shout out to Sky well so yeah I just encourage you guys to come out it's gonna be somebody's hundredth game and if you can get in for 10 bucks that's a deal so come join the party how how are you feeling for this weekend I mean it's crazy that it's here already but I also feel a little bit of relief like I don't feel as much pressure maybe to be at every game now because that's what it was like it it just came from pressure that I caused myself like a crazy person because that's what crazy people do you know that their brains go so um I just really wanted to be at games I love going to games it's so fun like I said tell gates are so fun intermingling with other teams is so fun and being able to you know represent Hawaii and cheer for Hawaii and this is the only I try and tell people this is our only team really in Hawaii I mean the University of Hawaii is our only Outlet really for major sports and that's why so many of us put so much you know emotion into following and celebrating and sulking because that's how much the team means I mean that's what being a fan is and being a fan doesn't mean we're also going to be completely positive about every decision made because we want what's best for the team I think that's what binds every fan some fans believe that you know you should just stay positive the whole time and that helps and you know that's a philosophy I'm not going to doubt it I just don't think that that's always the case as well we need to be honest and Frank I think you know with Coach Graham A lot of people piled on him at the end and they still are piling on him how he wrecked the school but if you go back to a day before he was fired a couple days people were not singing that tune so I think that's why it's so jarring when folks can go from no this person is doing such a good job to yeah I'm so glad we got rid of him in like a matter of like a day it's a very Hawaii thing yeah and you know definitely wasn't a a a good match in the long run but you know we did go to two bowl games that year you know so I mean obviously Co changed a lot of things especially with football in our daily lives but yeah that that was on the schedule you know we did make it we only played one of them but yeah technically we did go to two two bowl games in the two years he was at Hawaii so it's hard to argue with those stats as well um but looking forward to this weekend like we said hope you can all be there um come say hi take your photos with Mr 100 over here I'm looking forward to seeing you know some surprises I know they brought up deel crowdis who was um a transfer from Kentucky he was a four-star receiver so I think players like that like you know like when we'd have JoJo Ward or Cedric bird or these guys that just came out of nowhere and surprised us the first game so we could be like 2018 um it's hard to tell because obviously Delaware is not the strongest team in the world but um at least we'll be able to get a sense of where our team is right now and hopefully everything is just smooth sailing for this game um but please continue to follow us wherever you are
