yeah not a good first half um better second half I thought we're unlucky not to score in the second half um for me a key moment in the match was us giving away the the first goal with a minute left you know obviously we weren't weren't playing well but we were a minute from you know kind of getting to halftime to be to be able to kind of make adjustments and circle the wagons a bit um you know to give up that goal um that was a pivotal moment in the match that can't happen um really poor goal I thought second half again um Subs gave us a lift played much better we were better with the ball um our intensity was better we created some pretty good chances I I felt um but overall just not enough today to win the game we did we did not deserve to win the game so I take responsibility on the coach and I just didn't think we got good performances today um you know you can't you can't you can't come on the road and play against a good team like Salt Lake and and um you know expect to win that game that type of game um with the performance that we had especially in the first half all right we'll get started with questions first we'll go to Frank deapa he'll be followed by Sam mint Frank uh Caleb one thing uh you've talked about a lot this year is you want your team to play positively so the question is on that first goal you guys actually had the free kick you know but instead of going the goal went backwards and sideways kind of so um you know especially in that situation you know what do you tell the team really poor really poor really poor um exactly what you said I said why did we go backwards we're in the literally in the front half um and we play three passes they are negative and the last one we hit a blind pass you know backwards and you know I I called the team over you know literally you know in that last there was an injury and I said two things I said we need to be more patient when we get in the front half and and play forward and um I said let's get to the break you know and you know that was a that was a huge mistake um by shabi he feels bad um he knows it can't happen um you know he's been pretty Rock Solid but that was for sure a really really bad mistake and I I thought that that was a big difference in the match um like I said second half was much better we can build on that um um but yeah it was it was a head scratcher a little bit that first half I I thought we you know we we started giving the ball away um and it and it gave them life and it it seemed like it rattled us and it just really sent a funk in our team and we never worked ourselves out of it Ali for me was excellent keeping us in the game um but you know eventually if you continue to give teams a good team like Salt Lake chances they're going to score and obviously the the first goal we we gave them the goal so um we got to look at the film like we always do guys need to look at themselves in the in the mirror and uh you know obviously we got we still got you know nine games left and uh you know we're back at home against St Louis so um I'm I'm confident the guys will bounce back for sure uh but we we cannot have um you know performances uh any more performances like this and like we had in that first half again can't otherwise we got no shot to make the playoffs next we go to Sam Mitten he'll be followed by Nick go Sam hello Caleb and can you just kind of talk about how you know collectively as a team you guys performed defensively and just maybe where RSL was able to kind of cause some problems for you guys there mostly our our giveaways most of what they created was from our buildup and give the ball away and unforced you know I'm not going to name names but like there were re some really really poor giveaways um early in the match and some of those inside our box unforced um you know we're on the ball all we have to do is touch and play we take two or three touches and and obviously they're in a duel with us and we give it away um so most of what they created uh in that first half was off of our careless uh attacking play and um that's disappointing because we we've made so much progress um you know obviously there's a few new pieces in there as well you know Brandon's out um but it's no excuse you know I expect better and um again I take responsibility I prepare these guys and they didn't perform tonight so uh so I have to look in the mirror as well next we go to Nick bster he'll be followed by Seth mccom Nick hey Caleb so it's a couple games now at least at the end where we've been able to see kind of the full force Strike Force you know the attackers I'm just what have you thought or what you've seen in the last couple games yeah again you know I I feel like uh there's positives in that second half um was much better you know we were much better with the ball thought Ian came in and gave us you know better ball retention obviously um the front three that we subbed into the match um you know they were dangerous Lively we were much better in the final third I'm glad that those guys are now going to be close to uh being able to play major minutes now um you know they needed another game we felt they were kind of 30 to 45 minutes fit um Max uh so now we feel like they'll be close to 60 hopefully with a good week of training um so you know that gives us a lot of optimism for the next game um um just disappointed with the guys we started you know they they had played so well the week prior um but they weren't they weren't uh able to put it together again and uh you know that means for sure this week uh some of my decisions are going to be based on the current form and uh there were some some not good performances today out of guys we'll take one more question that'll be Seth McCumber Seth it seemed like some of that change in the second half and some of that verticality uh that that Mo Veron and barrero and lukon bring to the field you just talk a little bit about that the need to play vertical at times yeah yeah that's what they bring and those those are the guys that uh we expect to be starting you know of course um but they just weren't fit enough to start so um you saw obviously second half Montreal and you saw second half today that um there's more Pace there's more penetration uh there's more um final third uh Purp um but you know first half Montreal was pretty good you know with that same group so um you know why wasn't that group able to do it again I don't know that's that's the head scratcher for me um you know obviously it's a long trip I don't want to make excuses for them but it's a long trip five hour trip it's altitude um guys seem sloppy on the ball it's a hard fast pitch and and we just didn't deal with it well all those elements um maybe that's a factor but um doesn't matter at this point you got to find a way and um yeah I thought we gave up some some key goals in in kind of pivotal moments the second goal is is another example you know we get stripped on the sideline we foul and then it's a set piece you know so as as bad as we were first half we could have gotten to the break 0 that would have that would have been a you know that would have given G us a better chance and you know I felt like if we wouldn't have given up that second goal we would have for sure gotten a a goal I thought we were knocking on the door but you know for me in in the end not enough wasn't enough today it wasn't our day we didn't play well enough to win we didn't deserve to win Salt Lake was the better team and um you know we have to learn from it look at the film and get back to work but you know I think the optimism again is you saw that second half you know and some of the you know players that were playing there um you know that group uh we feel very confident in um you know but disappointed with some of the guys in that in that first half
