The federal government is
offering every household four
free COVID-19 tests. One verified viewer said the
test they received
expired in June and wants to know if the
tests are still good. So let's verify our sources are the Department
of Health and Human Services, the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission. When COVID-19 tests were
originally produced, manufacturers estimated how
long they would effectively
work and use that to come up with the expiration
date printed
on the box. If a manufacturer can later
prove the shelf life is
longer than
was known, then the FDA will let them
extend the expiration date. This is what happened with some
of the tests that the government
is sending. So, yes, the FTC confirms all tests
sent recently
are still valid through at least
the end of 2023. Regardless of what it
might say on
the box, you can find your test updated
expiration date on
the FDA S website with you. Verify I'm Brandon Lewis.
