illegal immigrants in California now one step closer to receiving State funds that they could use for a down payment on a home senior National correspondent William lines reports hi William well Martha the bill just passed the state senate now goes back to the assembly where Democrats have a super majority and AIDS tell me it is likely to pass the Bill makes illegal migrants eligible for $150,000 to buy a new home lawmakers created the program so citizens and legal residents could afford to live here but last week Democrats changed the law to say this an applicant who meets requirements for the loan assistance program shall not be disqualified solely based on the applicant's immigration status the social and economic benefits of homeownership should be accessible to everyone regardless of immigration status so the program provides firsttime buyers with a zero interest loan up to 20 % of the home's purchase price so that's up to $150,000 cash UPF front for down payment and closing costs this year this $255 million program sold out in 11 hours requiring a lottery 18,000 applied 2,000 got loans and when a home sells the state is repaid with a small percentage of any appreciation the bill is sponsored by a prominent Latino Rights group with close ties to vice president Harris what the rest of the America needs to be worried about is the Camala Harris Waltz Administration taking these crazy California ideas and nationalizing them and taking them to the rest of the country the country can't afford to buy illegal immigrants homes they claim without evidence that the building is actually being closed because it was taken over by a Venezuelan gang they're out of state slum Lords and they haven't maintained the building the landlord from New York has hired a public relations firm out of Florida and now has several of Mayor Kaufman's fellow conservatives on Aurora city council convinced that the real issue is not years of code violations but a city coverup of a takeover of the complex by a Venezuelan gang we have a Venezuelan gang problem that has taken over a number of our apartment complexes the city of Aurora says that's not true and Aurora Police urge city council to be wary of misinformation we don't know that all the information that's publicly out there right now is correct it's probably not Aurora Police say they believe the Venezuelan gang trend AA is operating inside the Denver metro area there's a new task force working to identify the number of gang members and what they're doing and we have we have out ofate owners that are slim WS I remember going there over a year ago uh at the request of the residents that you know in looking at the habitability concerns of the building and we were we you know prepared to take the owners to court uh and unfortunately have come to this level where if it's not habitable it's not habitable and we need to relocate the the families that are there the apartment owners claim that the problems are being caused by a Venezuelan gang the mayor acknowledged that there is a gang in the city but the problem conditions date the conditions and the problems at this building date back years before the migrant crisis even started [ __ ] the Venezuelans is taking over they just jacked them oh me these [ __ ] is out here tripping bro damn they done made a mess and [ __ ] [ __ ] y'all are on [ __ ] out here they is on [ __ ] oh [ __ ] what the yeah they're tripping [ __ ] [ __ ] they cracking off in the air and everything they driving over this [ __ ] we almost just got [Music] hit these nigas is on [Music] [ __ ] I'm trying to record but I got to watch the [Music] police and Aurora are creating a task force to address concerns about the rise of a violent Venezuelan gang Trend dagua right there in Colorado let's bring an aurora City council member Danielle jinsky Danielle thank you we've been hearing about this for quite some time residents have shared their concern we've heard this coming up at City Council meetings there Aurora said we don't have anything to do with this migrant crisis they're trying to help because we just don't have the space the hospitals were overwhelmed what is it that you're seeing right now as far as this Venezuelan gang taking over now the migrant centers there it's unreal um it's unreal residents tell me they feel like they are living in a third world country um at this point they are going block by block they are going apartment complex by apartment complex they are taking it over um I think the city doesn't really know how to handle it so the city is burying certain properties um that have been taken over by this trend day a Raga gang uh burying them with code violations and playing it off as if this is just simply code violations but this game um they are marking their territory they are putting up their um Gang Related graffiti on the blocks on the areas that they have taken over and quite frankly I have heard too many stories from too many Property Owners business owners and residents to think that this is anything other than a complete gang Takeover in parts of our city like what are you hearing from them say the the business owners for example what what have they been experiencing uh break-ins violence kicking door in I had one uh property owner tell me that a tenant literally vanished from their property to this day they don't know what happened to that tenant his phone was shut off uh they had not collected rent they went knocked on the door to get into the unit uh the Aurora Police Department had to come let them in the unit and the whole place was filled with guns uh money and giant barrels of gasoline I am being told that they are running a black market uh for gasoline and again like I said to this day they have no idea what happened to that man to their tenant just reading through the the the uh what we know about Cookie Monster I'm sure you've heard about this this local gang Leader by now uh this is according to the reporting in the New York Post um this person has set up operations with the other gang members there in Aurora um this person allegedly took part in brutal assault at an apartment complex there in Aurora um in March 2024 was arrested and charged with several felony assault charges but was bailed out of custody and failed to show up in court um July 2024 just a couple months ago arrested for allegedly carrying out a shooting at the same apartment where the previous assault occurred one of your biggest points is and we've heard this from others is that Denver initially downplayed the concerns about this gang takeover where's the city now on this and what are they doing about it I mean we've heard that the Venezuelan Gang has greenlighted their members to attack police when confronted Aurora Colorado mayor thank you very much for for coming on with us um it seems it's tough to even get some confirmation of the details of what is going on there first off um can you confirm whether or not this Gang has taken over these buildings there in Aurora so there are several buildings uh actually under the same ownership out ofate ownership uh that have fallen to uh these Venezuelan gangs uh I'm trying to walk it back and do the and do the investigation as to how the vene there's a concentration of Venezuelans uh uh in these these three buildings uh um somebody put them there and somebody funded it uh whether it's federal government or not we're trying to find out who these gangs apparently or are attracted to where there's a concentration of of uh Venezuelan migrants and so uh they've in fact have kind of pushed out the property management through intimidation and then collected the rents uh we have have now um or have had uh it is ongoing U uh operations uh with uh a task force of local law enforcement State uh law enforcement partners and and federal law enforcement Partners uh to rot them Mar and in and arrests have been made but these operations are now are still ongoing with the arrests that have been made are these confirmed gang affiliated members you know they um this is an organized criminal effort whether it's trendee aragua uh that remains to be to be seen but it really doesn't matter I mean if they're if they're you know Venezuelan migrants and they're and they're conducting crime in an organized there were problem so okay so you're able to confirm that they this this Venezuelan Venezuelan Gang has indeed taken over at least some of the buildings you're saying at least two of the three and what I just heard from you is you don't know how they ended up there and you even made a suggestion that they could have been sent there by by like by federal officials you I heard you suggest I mean do you have any reason to believe that to be the case so here's here's the problem I think we're a victim of of a fail policy at the southern border because uh what you have I Venezuela does not Co according to to my law enforcement Venezuela does not cooperate with the United States in Sharing criminal histories um you had a third of the country lead you've had these massive waves of of migrants coming across the border that that many of them crossed the border illegally were arrested uh asked for political Asylum uh were not adequately vetted we're released into the country um the city of Aurora we did everything we could to to to quite frankly keep them out of out of the city because it's not our problem this is a federal problem this is a problem born by the federal government
