hello everyone today I will be reacting to this video I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching CBS News is reporting alarming new details in the Nationwide leria outbreak linked to recalled bors's head deli meats we've obtained documents that show federal inspectors flag dozens of violations at the B's head plant in Virginia linked to the recall including mold mildew and insects repeatedly found at the facility at least 57 people have now been treated at hospital in more than a dozen states the number of deaths has jumped to nine making this the largest outbreak of leria since 2011 outbreak that was caused by cantaloupe B's head Provisions has expanded its recall to include over 71 different deli meat products due to concerns about a leria outbreak initially on July 26th the recall was limited to nine products but it has now grown to Encompass over 7 million pounds of meat and poultry items produced between May 10 and July 29th 2024 these products include popular items such as Virginia ham olive loaf skinless beef franks Canadian style bacon roasted pork and liver worst Pate according to reports at least 34 people in 13 states have fallen ill with two fatalities reported the USDA and CDC have urged consumers to either throw out or return the affected products and to thoroughly clean their refrigerators to prevent contamination leria can spread easily and can survive in refrigerated conditions but can be eliminated by reheating the food to a high enough temperature throw it away throw all that meat away 9 million PBS of B's Head meat has been recalled I feel personally attacked I've been reviewing that meat for y'all I've been putting all that meat in my mouth eating it all swallowing it and I put my life at risk and didn't even know it throw the meat away 9 million lbs you know how much meat that is uh-uh that's a massive huge big recall thank you Michelle Lee by the way and my followers have been sending me videos and messages telling me about it two people dead lots of hospital visits this is nothing to play with USDA says that the sale by dates are July 29th through October the 17th so if you meet got them dates throw it away but I would just throw it all away throw it all away CBS News has obtained new information about what USDA inspectors found at the B's head plant link to the leria outbreak Federal records show dozens of violations including a rancid smell throughout a cooler and ants on a wall the CDC says nine people have died and at least 57 others hospitalized in leria outbreak that originated from Deli meets at the bores head plant in Jarrett Virginia newly released records obtained by CBS News show us Department of Agriculture inspectors discovered nearly 70 violations in the Virginia facility over the past year including mildew and black mold building up and numerous insect sightings BS head has recalled more than 7 million pounds of deli meat connected to that plant in a statement a spokesperson said food safety is our absolute priority adding that the team immediately addressed all issues inspectors raised you can go to usda.gov to see what products have been recalled and double check your fridge for those meats if you find some throw them away and clean any surface they may have touched the CDC says leria symptoms which can be flu like usually occur within two weeks of eating contaminated Foods the infection can be especially harmful to people who are pregnant 65 and older or have weakened immune systems I need a farm to answer this question for me why is everything getting contaminated with leria okay B's head just recall they upped the number of like pounds that they were recalling their deli meat to 7 million pounds of deli meat for leria contamination which is like literally taking the lives of people right so that's a problem then I just seen that Aldi and Kroger has issued a huge recall for their produce their dips their like prepackaged scrap I don't know but for leria again earlier in the year some company had to recall all of their like sour cream milk cheese products for what take a guess leria why leria is it because people are like cutting corners or something with like I I don't know how that is what the connection is there but why is leria such a problem right now like everything is getting recalled for leria and if it hasn't gotten recalled yet it's finna so somebody some Farm explain to me what's going on with this area a lot of people are still learning about this Bor head recall which now includes 7 million pounds of deli meat that was produced at that facility so I'm going to answer a couple of the top questions that people are asking the first question is how does stuff like this happen well the USDA is not staffed to inspect every facility every day and test everything all of the time so what they do is they do random inspections and if those random inspections don't turn up any problems then the facility is allowed to keep producing food in this case the USDA had been tracking a leria infection outbreak over the last couple of months trying to figure out where the source came from but this is a major challenge you've got 13 different states now that are impacted and when people show up at the hospital with listeriosis they don't actually know where it came from it could have come from anything that they encountered so the USDA then has to go about the work of figuring out where did you shop what did you eat when did you eat it when did you get sick and then they have to look for commonalities between all the different people who got sick in this case they had Tracked Down The Strain of leria but they hadn't identified the s Source until the Maryland Department of Health found it in an unopened package of liver worst so you can see how complicated this kind of Investigation is and how unlikely it would be for companies to self-regulate you've got the Baltimore City Health Department working with the Maryland Health Department working with the CDC and the USDA to try to identify how this all happened ultimately they traced it back to a single facility for B's head and they issued the recall the CDC has issued a warning about B's head deli meat according to the latest reports several cases of leria have been linked to the consumption of these products leria is a serious infection that can cause severe illness especially in pregnant women newborns older adults and people with weakened immune systems symptoms can include fever muscle aches and gastrointestinal issues if you have purchased B's head deli meat recently it is advised to avoid consuming it and to monitor for any symptoms for more information visit the CDC website credits narrator narrator's name writer writer's
