all right here we go Steelers Lions a big deal for the Steelers cuz that guy's going to decide who's going to be his starter and he's got some pretty high high profile guys fighting for it Russell Wilson starts the game this is really early first drive of the whole game clean pocket great throw George Pickins 32 yards down to the Lions 29 looks great this is what you want this is exactly what we're looking for and if he plays like this he going to be the starter the only negative for us here is that on the next play he doesn't get to show off his arm War because Corell Patterson does this yes he's on the Steelers knot if you haven't been paying attention one of my favorite players in the league Russ leaves the game just two for two 26 yds touchdown drive all right well here comes Fields Russ looked pretty good you better do something here Justin with that seven nothing lead Fields over the middle pretty pass mikole puit down to the two yd line you'd like to see Fields show off more maybe run throw a touchdown pass but it's kind of not how these plays are called he's going to hand it off and that is a walk-in touchdown Steelers score L Michael pery Steelers up 14 nothing we don't care so much about the score what's the score in the quarterback competition this is not going to help see this this is a miscommunication now the Steelers Center his rookie Zack Frasier who has spent probably most of his first Camp playing with two different quarterbacks maybe two different types of cadences Fields not ready he's trying to send the receiver in motion the snap comes they go down it's a disaster you don't want to see that but Fields gets back out there looking looking and just not a chance listen he went through this a lot with the Bears and he's going through it again with the Steelers so if that's it did Russell Wilson win the job with two throws really one throw on the sideline the Steelers lost the game but we're going to watch out who's got the advantage now because it's over guys the next game they play will be for real if I'm gerod Mayo at least I'm looking at Mike Tomlin like well at least that guy still can't decide on who his quarterback is and he's been coaching as a head coach a lot longer than I have this continues to be a conversation who is the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh abbar You Stand Tall with this uh opinion I I really do this has been an interesting one I mean in fact I was up all night like going like who's going to win this one really so yeah I was and so it actually inspired me to write a poem this is a big fight this is like a boxing match this reminds me of some of those old school boxing boxing bches I grew up watching so I wrote a poem you guys want to hear it poetry and boxing it's potic it was it was inspired by the great Muhammad Ali you know I look at these guys they're in the Ste City it sounds like like this is what it's supposed to be so here we go I put it together this is right here this is the scrambles to the left Wilson scrambles to the right look at old Russ dangerous in the spotlight Phils keeps retreating but there's not enough room it's only a matter of time till Wilson seals the deal the till Wilson seals his Doom that's all right keep with me Phils keep Phils is St Still Standing but his host wears a frown as the veteran skill starts shutting him down now Phil disappears from view the fans are getting frantic but coach Tomlin is dynamic then Wilson hits with the pass what a beautiful throw oh and the ball sells through as if Guided by the glow what a sight to see and the fans now know who the starter will be hold on hold on fils is still hustling but coach Tomlin Stands Tall it's the veteran he's Chosen and Russell's got it all who would have thought when they came to this show that they see Wilson rise and Fields lay low yes the crowd didn't know when they first saw this fuss but now it's clear as day that Russell's got all the goodies to stay and not my goodies and still the Undisputed quarterback starter for the Steelers Russell Wilson oh I got a little punch drunk at the top there but I still was able to get through it but uh it's Russell Wilson I mean this is one that I I went to bed at like midnight I went to bed at midnight working on this and and in morning television talk that's not that's not good for your health no it's not good for your health but uh it was worth it because I really want to see Russell Wilson come back so many people are sleeping on Russell Wilson and I truly believe he's the guy and the starter for this you've you've lived in that for quite some time and you continue to think it think it think it and like we have to wait and see from Tomlin but that if that was convincing enough then he might Tomlin watched this and you think Tomlin is going to say you know what akar you convinced me with that that was poetic he might that would be a huge compliment if my did that Kyle I wrote a poem it goes like this roses are red violets are blue the Steelers are in trouble with either of these two that's it that's all I got um listen speaking of trouble hbar listen to me dude Listen to If you are staying up all night in in in August worried about the Steelers quarterback competition there's a month around these parts called December where we're all just zombies just looking for flesh to eat to stay alive and trying to keep our eyes open you can't be staying up all night now man but save that stuff this is a long season man talk about the Steelers quarterbacks oh I'm I'm opposite of everybody I I like Justin Fields I I personally like just I've always like Justin I think I mean Kyle Kyle talked about the New England Patriots o line the Steelers o line was just as bad like you're you're messing up fumbles in the first preseason game against the Houston Texans the the the center snaps the ball without Justin Fields even looking I I I was watching the the Steelers training camp very closely when Russell Wilson was out Justin Fields was balling like he was balling all you heard from the training camp was Russell Wilson and George Pickins and that relationship I mean yeah Justin fields that whole relationship and that Dynamic just growing and I think as a player he was balling because he didn't have to to look over his shoulder and worry coach are you going to take me out of this practice are you going to take me out of the game coming from a player who's been in that in that situation it's so different when you're in a situation when you're constantly looking to the sideline like coach am I staying in on this play are you taking me out Nick series when Justin doesn't have that type of pressure he just flourishes and not to mention you need a quarterback back there by the preseason the way that old line Looks that can extend plays now Russell can do it but he can't do it as well as Justin oo I was listening to a Steelers podcast about this and these guys started in on the elephant in the room is who wide receiver 2 is going to be and I was like what elephant are you missing how are you not leading this conversation with who your quarterback is going to be who is throwing these guys the ball I don't care if it's wide receiver seven this has not been resolved yet for anybody I it doesn't make any sense what elephant What circus are you at that you can't like talk about this for 30 minutes straight when it comes to a Steelers ation I don't know if the rest of the team is good enough to hold up to Steelers teams in the past well it just was very I didn't understand it Kyle but I mean have you landed on this because you just did an about face when it came to the Patriots quarterback situation are you tiptoeing into doing the same in Pittsburgh I'm not tiptoeing on this take that I love this glamorous West Coast Hollywood Life Jamie's living where she's spending her weekends listening to Steelers podcasts as she parents her three young daughters Jamie you are such a superstar St what a celebrity that's incredible staying true to yourself Steelers podcast on the we the game kle I know I and you do and I love that you love it listen this it's probably going to be Russ he made a really good throw to Pickins and what was genuinely like a head-to-head audition I think man makes some great points it not neither one of these guys ran away with it neither one of these guys has blowing anybody away everyone are both faulted listen I'm a bears Enthusiast we've been seen for three or four years waiting for fields to make the jump never really has Russell Wilson hasn't played terribly well in about three years it's like they got in bed with both these guys and I guess one of them has to to be the person they're going to have to choose somebody but it's like being at a restaurant and they read you the specials and you're like ah I guess I got to get one of them just I'll take that one I hope it's good I I don't know I think there's a lot of trepidation right now for Steelers fans and also same thing with the Patriots let's say they start Russ Wilson let's hope this doesn't happen but halftime of the first game he's got two interceptions they're down 13 points are we already saying put Fields out there and saying vice versa it's not a real strong vice grip that either one of these guys got it's a lot of unknown going into the season it's not it's not a real fun place to be the last time Russell Wilson was in this situation where he had a lot of haters and a lot of people doubting him so when he came in as a third round draft pick you remember Matt Flynn was supposed to be the guy yeah everybody's oh no there's no way but there's no way this short little guy can outdo Matt Flynn who they just signed a bunch of money to well you know what I think he's feeling he's going to tap into that a lot of people are doubting him and I feel like Russell Wilson when he's doubted that's the one he shows up big time so
