what time is it it's game time it is now post game time for the Dodgers a 64 win Padres got walked off by the cards so they gained a little ground there but the Diamondbacks took care of the Mets I believe eight for the final so uh no blood against the Diamondbacks in the west leaves them I believe at three games GES yeah 85 Diamondbacks take care of the Mets so Dodgers keep it rolling what was it uh 12 of after last night 12 of 17 so now 13 wins out of their last 18 games uh tonight was a nice win on sh Otani bobblehead Knight leads off the game with a home run uh of course that was beautiful to see and then you know Joe and oral started heaping preise rightfully so I mean sh 42 home runs that is a remarkable season stole two bases so what does he have now 43 stolen bases I believe guy is on fire and uh locked in at the plate so nothing negative to say about Shi tonight looked really really good we'll get to the details of that during the uh Diamond Dogs list I think the bigger story Bullpen was good but an even bigger story from the mound Walker buer I think all you naysayers in the comments that were like oh we're gonna get swept Walker buer and Bobby Miller ah this sucks we're doomed it would have been way better Roy you are correct the defense let him down Will Smith we've never seen Will Smith do something that lazy where uh swing and a miss strike three bounces Will Smith I mean it clearly bounced it wasn't even in question I don't know what he was thinking kind of was like what why do I have oh yeah I Gotta Throw it and he throws it down to First and it was too late and then uh Max Muny had a throwing error there in that same frame which cost the Dodgers two runs I will say that the throw wasn't great for Max mzy but that if there was there was an error in on that play I Believe on Max for the throw uh that error should have been on KK at first because Freddy Freeman digs that ball and it's not even tough KK looked like what do I do here no you know that was all on Kik it wasn't a great throw uh but it wasn't that bad it didn't really even short hop him um it was a fairly decent hop that should have been fielded bued by Kik at first but it doesn't matter uh Walker berer another great part of his performance today uh first and foremost we have to acknowledge that he had nice control location and snap on the curveball his curveball was big time moving uh devastating to a certain extent at times Wicked all of those things that curveball was 12 to six quite frequently uh he had four KS the first two came on a Cutters uh and then three and four were on curves uh but the biggest part of his performance really that I think helped him gain confidence he got out of that first inning no harm done one two three and coming into this game he had a 9.9 erra in the first inning this season ugly first inning after that it drops down to like four so uh getting out of the first inning did a lot of good for him and if it weren't for the defense it would have been even better he finished the day 4 and two thirs uh going giving up five hits and two earned runs four in total uh also would have finished six Innings if it wasn't for that same umpire that was behind the plate last night blowing calls he was at third base tonight missed a check swing check swing strike three that would have gotten him out of the inning so yeah that guy is uh not good he needs some uh refreshing course es on umpiring and uh you know maybe a reprimand from the league as bad as he was last night and then that check swing and obviously check swings are a big question mark as to what is considered a swing and what is not and I mean they look at it from the top did he offer at it did he break his wrist did he come across the plate there's just a lot of different variables involved when deciding whether or not something is a swing or not but that one was to me pretty clear I mean came across the plate a good foot offered at the ball maybe didn't break his wrists but still I've seen a lot less called to strike and usually umpires that don't have it out for you like that guy does against the Dodgers for whatever reason uh strike three to end an inning they just kind of get caught up in it and they ring him up he did not and buer got pulled because a base hit happened there uh scored a run but they had a little bit of insurance thanks to one of three errors on the night from the um Baltimore Orioles three errors ugly defensive performance from them as well they did the Dodgers uh a fair amount of favors uh but the big night for mookie bets uh mooki had one hit One RBI an even bigger night for shotani two hits three runs scored a home run and an RBI uh and teoscar Hernandez the game-winning Homer for the Dodgers a three-run blast that was a hang it and bang it curveball that was brilliant to see and uh just like all over it he was fun that was that was one of those uh no doubters you know stood there admired it you know sauntered his way down to first base that was that was a classic home run blast from T Oscar Hernandez part of a four-run third for the Dodgers they added uh one more in the fifth which made it six at that point it was six four right that's the final scored no scoring after that fifth inning so uh they get the win nice to see uh Roy has another comment about bu just pray he can consistently pitch like he did tonight just hope it's not a one-off thing pre Miller can figure it out as as well good good point uh here's the thing that or oral was getting really really excited about bu's Performance Based on the knowledge of what he's heard directly from bu uh in the clubhouse you know before and after the games on the plane whatnot uh that he is taking steps every outing in the right direction and that's good news it's not like he's going out every day and just kind of scratching his head like I don't know what's wrong I don't know how to control it I don't know why I'm not getting people out uh I feel good but it's not responding it's not like that at all every game seemingly he's made progress in his return to the Walker bu that we are familiar with the dominant Walker buer so those are good factors he's made a comment about his hand saying last time out he could tell from his hand position and his hand movement where the ball was going so that instant feedback in his head obviously paid off today where he had more control more more uh dominance more pinpoint accuracy and more action on the ball and they also said that he really simplified his pitching rotation as well uh at at first they they were claiming that he was going with two pitches tonight fastball curveball but then he got his first two strikeouts on Cutters which surprised oral uh and those two balls weren't really wicked as far as the movement you know the fact was they were a change of pace almost like a change up versus the fast ball which had real life on it and he throws a really heavy ball it just feels like it gets on you in a hurry and it's got a little bit of that rise on occasion and when you throw it you he 95 96 in there and then that cutter was coming in about 9091 and then the curveball was dancing 12 to six so he had a a lot of movement a lot of action on his ball and that's what probably was the best part of this performance for him uh and it does leave you with a lot of positivity and encouraging feelings about where Walker beer goes from here like what's next can he return can he can he continue to pitch like he did tonight and can he keep it up into the postseason because it would be fantastic to see uh Nando very interesting statement it's why I was laughing just a second ago tell us you weren't impressed by otani's dog that was freaking cool ABS I was impressed by everything Otani tonight the bobblehead was cool I don't know did everyone get a gold bobblehead or just a few people there was this gold bobblehead thing going on don't really know what that was all about but it was uh you know Otani bobblehead Knight leads off with the home run then has a single after that and his dog B basically throughout the first pitch they put a rubber ball on the mound and he ran it to the plate and gave it to Shi that was freaking cool I mean yeah it was awesome cute as hell that was uh on Q and you couldn't ask for more as far as a great way to start this game uh especially when it comes out as a 64 win for the Dodgers uh we will take the break do the Diamond Dogs list next I'm gonna tell you uh something pretty remarkable about what Will Smith has been doing of late he uh didn't do it tonight but very very close and continuing to uh play fantastic defense behind home plate aside from being lazy and not throwing that guy out at first base uh which was surprising so other than that I think Will Smith deserves a little bit of recognition maybe not for tonight but what what he did last night I'll tell you what he's been doing behind the home run then fell behind on some poor defense and Walker be uh gave up a couple of hits there in that second inning that cost the Dodgers a few runs they should have been out of it because the defense was a little shaky there but the bottom line was Walker bu rided the ship and everything was good to go he got back on track nearly made it through six Innings if it wasn't for a bad call by the Umpire at third base I should know his name because I'm so mad at him but I just refuse to learn it I'm sorry I'm not going to learn that guy's name uh I do have some other good news about robot umpires uh because they were talking about it a little bit tonight on the broadcast I learned that the official term is not robot umpire it's ABS automated balls and Strikes I'll tell you that after I tell you about the Will Smith stat that I learned last night that was remarkable uh I was reminded about it tonight when he nearly threw somebody out out uh it was a curveball down and away and he kind of just a flick of the wrist got it down to second base uh but it was just a fraction too late but a fantastic play nonetheless behind the plate Will Smith with 28 thrown out Runners at second base is tied for most in Major League Baseball behind the plate so that's why we were a little bit surprised when he made that bad play on a uh swinging strike three in the dirt he didn't pop up fire it down to first base acting like he caught it and like it bounced a good six inches before your glove I don't know what you were thinking there and Joe Davis commented that you can't review foul tips I'm like well that wasn't a foul tip if it was the batter would have got another uh pitch but it was clearly missed so I don't know what the debate was I don't know what the issue there was for Will Smith behind the plate other than he was just kind of you know I don't know we all go through those brain farts those brain lapses every now and then anyway back to the ABS automated balls and Strikes they are using it in tripa a and they also have a challenge system the story I read didn't explain how that works but they are using automated balls at strikes in Triple A and they're going to use it the remainder of this year but they said in the story that the probability of it making to to the major league level because they've had some issues again didn't explain what those issues were but they've had some issues and they feel like the probability of it being a regular part of Major League Baseball will not be until 2026 so we've got one more year of umpire's blowing balls and strike calls which is good I mean at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel that we can be done with all of this questioning that was a terrible call that was a ball that was a strike how did did you miss that blah blah blah uh Will Smith by the way at the plate tonight didn't get any hits but really hit the ball hard so I feel like he is right around the corner from getting back in there 0 for three tonight the average down to 243 Max munzy also an over for tonight uh he is last couple of games not great fortunately teoscar Hernandez over this four or five game stretch where he has gotten hot again his Runners and scoring position batting average is four 35 which is unbelievable that is just absolutely red hot and obviously did it again tonight with the three-run job and mookie bets number five on the alltime list I talked about this uh I don't know a couple months ago that I was just astounded that as good as we all know Freddy Freeman is to be number four on the alltime list hitting with runners in scoring position is average right around 333 335 All Time dating back to 1974 Below guys like Rod Karu and Tony Gwen I forget who the third guy on that list is but Hall of Famers all of them obviously Freddy's a future Hall of Famer and so is Mookie so it's not terribly surprising but those numbers are remarkable mooki fifth best all time on that list again hitting with Runners and scoring position dating back to 1974 mook's got an average right around 330 so just good to see that we have those guys uh in our Dugout and not the other Dugout here's tonight's Diamond Dogs list for number five Show's 42 home run to lead off the game and went 391 feet it was another ball on the outside part of the plate and he you know he pulled his right side out and kept the hands back and launched it to right field I mean it like that is when Shi is hard to understand I mean the strength is unbelievable to be able to do that a ball on the outside your right side is gone you've pulled away from the ball yet with his upper body and his arms he's able to hit a 390 foot home run just unbelievable uh then for number four show Single to right it was a two two count uh again after the first de bat they were working him on the outside the whole at bat they just wouldn't bring anything middle in rightfully so because shohi is all over that stuff but he did the same thing again they were working him on the outside and he was expecting all right they're gonna come in at some point they didn't but still pulled his right side out because he was expecting an inside pitch and threw the hands at the ball hammered it up the middle he was right on it I mean that's when sh Otani is fantastic when he gets that front foot down he gets started early and he is just there ready doesn't matter what you throw or where you throw it he's all over it for number three mookie bets a one out RBI single in the third to right center field it scored Kik who got on with an error that made it 32 for number two Tay Oscars three run Homer in the third Hang It and Bang it that was a curveball that it curved a little but I mean it was like Tao was waiting for it and it came right down Main Street his 28th round Tripper it was an absolute no doubt bomb 431 fet on a two two curve ball that didn't do a whole lot of anything uh for number one uh Gavin Lux hit a hard ball at the short stop who booted it one of the three errors charged to the Baltimore Orioles but it scored that insurance run which was Sho Otani who um got on on an error but then stole second another error moved him to Third and then he scored two stolen bases on the night for shohi so I believe that's 42 and 43 three uh either way continuing to just had those statistics and uh put up huge MVP like numbers and yes tonight I am just heaping Praise on show he Otani after the break uh we'll talk about Michael copex ninth inning with a strikeout ratio that is just hard to Fathom hard to believe how dominant this guy is and I I don't want to say I told you so but uh I I I am surprised that that he's not out there every ninth inning with his dominance but we'll take it when we can get it right uh tonight tonight 75 here's the stat that Corbin Burns has to be shaking his head about and just probably keeps him up at night over his last four games he's given up 20 runs that's 20 earned runs so good thing the Dodgers took advantage of him tonight and I hate to say all of this but I told you all this was going to happen I predicted a 74 win I predicted them roughing up Corbin Burns and it all came to
