all off season we wondered how Auburn's offense was going to look in year two under Hugh FES now a big reason for optimism from the fan base was a brand new collection of wide receivers added via the transfer portal and recruiting well it did not take very long into the 20124 season for those new faces to make an impact at Jordan hair Stadium it happened right away Keandre Lambert Smith scoring touchdowns of 67 and four yards in the first half then the much hpe fresh cam Coleman had a first catch to remember hauling in his first career reception on a beautiful 44 yd dime from Payton Thorne and speaking of the quarterback he posted his most yards in an Auburn uniform and did that before the bands even started playing at the half the eagle and Obby weren't the only things that were up in the air today jarquez Hunter Taking Flight on a 15 yd gain in the first quarter he also reached the End Zone on a 34 yd Scamper for auert first points of the new season as for Alabama A&M the Bulldogs were never expected to be competitive and despite trailing by 49 at the half they did have a couple of their moments Cornelius Brown threw for a handful of first downs and the Bulldogs mustered a field goal before halftime here's head coach conell mayor with more on the team's performance you know what we learned about our team is uh I learned that we're going to quit you know we kept fighting uh even though the score was lopsided we never gave up we kept fighting um they just had more bullets than we did and just kept leaning on us and we was over match from the start touch so all in all a very straightforward win for the Auburn Tigers but they did make some program history today reaching 800 wins all time only 13 programs have ever done that but reaching 8001 wins is going to be a much tougher task as Auburn will host Cal next week a team that gave them fits last year here over in Berkeley that's all for me at Jordan Stadium we're going to have more recapping these games coming up tomorrow
