The search continues in the woods in Kentucky tonight for a person who police say may have opened fire on cars on a busy interstate. A portion of interstate 75 south of Lexington in Kentucky was shut down for several hours on Saturday after a gunman opened fire, striking shot nine vehicles and causing a crash that left several people injured. A B C's Alex Presha is in Kentucky with this developing story, a terrifying scene unfolding Saturday afternoon on a highway in Kentucky. Authorities say a gunman opened fire striking nine vehicles and causing several vehicles to crash. They have had multiple gunshot victims on the part of interstate 75 shut down for at least three just north of London, Kentucky, a small city about 75 miles south of Lexington. A total of five people were shot, including one in the face. Two other victims were injured in a crash. Christina De Noto and a friend were on their way to Tennessee when they believe a bullet hit their car. All of a sudden, we just heard this loud, deafening sound and then my ear, my right ear started ringing and we didn't know what the sound was, but we both looked at each other and said, was that a gunshot? They later found this damage on her car. Authorities say they are searching for this man, 32 year old Joseph Couch. We recovered the suspect's vehicle in that area. That's why he is a person of interest. I think we can deduce that he's a suspect, but we'll still say person of interest at this point. The sheriff's department also says they have located a weapon they believe may have been used by the shooter. We located an AR 15, it's going to be processed and it is in a wooded area next to the interstate in a location that he could have shot down upon the interstate from that wooded location. Law enforcement including the FBI A TF and local authorities are combing the heavily wooded area as for the victim. Despite some of their injuries being serious, the sheriff's department says it expects all of the victims to survive. Alex P ABC News, London, Kentucky.
