this is certainly a rider who will be expecting to shake things up on the podium Sophie Wells the world's best ranked and former gold medalist at par Olympics Asain of leg do you want to try and redout the name of the horse there's a lot of letters there ljt Samoa EDB guards I think is going to be my best punt you're okay with that you're okay or you could just call her Diana Diana here we go' together for the last two years so two years together it was a debut it would have been Unforgettable for Sophie Wells and her first games in London two Silvers and a team GB gold but it was Rio when she was the individual event number one but this is her attempt to get back amongst the gold at 2024 here in Paris and this a young horse believe only 7 so first time in such a big atmosphere as this and looking very settled listening to Sophie looking for those ears to be flicking back to the rider little bit out to the side checking in into that half pass to the extended counter to finish on the center line and the extended counter it's always how much can you afford to push that without losing the balance and running the horse on into tro [Music] well the multiple par Olympic medalist 10 world medals five of which have been golden a nervous wait to see exactly where the Britain is placed by the scores the aggregate of our five judges only three more Riders to go we're getting close to start to reveal who will be our gr five [Applause] medalists taking a chance to thank the crowd and reciprocated from the temporary stands here on the ground of versil it's a very compact horse you see such a range of horses within the sport the tall very leggy ones are more compact together on there you just see Sophie's R she has the loops because she is missing some fingers so it just gives her that little bit extra control on the RS should be delighted with the performance how settled the May is through the whole test so Sophie Wells moves into a medal position 72 2 57% the one color she's never won well she scored 72.2% which was good enough for bronze and yet another paralympic medal and Sophie here you are trying sum up those emotions um I don't know I'm really pleased to have got it out the way and done quite frankly today like you know we were blast on pretty much of nearly everybody of the whole competition uh for day one so it's been a bit of a nervous weight um so yeah I'm just I'm so proud of her I mean she's 8 years old she's an incredible horse I know she will be the best horse in the world at some point um but today I needed to hold her hand around the test a little bit and give her a bit of confidence and and yeah and just so proud of her that she held a nerve and yes we had bits of tension and it wasn't Perfect by any means but she's eight and she's amazing and I I love her what a lovely uh situation to be in that when sadly Don Cara can't make it here you have a reserve and the quality like that and you talk about tension but that's a really Buzzy atmosphere in that Arena yeah I mean we're so lucky that you know there's so many people here supporting equestrian and parad dressage at the games you know it's an amazing sport that we're lucky to be part of um but it does come with it that that atmosphere and you can't prepare them for it you know you can't be like oh let's just get a few thousand people together and put them in an arena so um yeah just you prepare as best you can with what you've got and obviously really sad for for Don car and his owner um Roland kinch who's been with me for a long time um for that to have happened but you know Diana stepped up and yeah I could be proud of Aon Orford for some reason has given me some task to try and make you cry on camera I know you don't crack easily it's your fourth par Olympic Games and it hasn't been the easiest runup to this so are you leaving here happy tonight there's still a lot more to come yeah I mean I I came in as um wanting to qualify for the freestyle being top eight um it's a it's a really tough grade um not knowing you know where we were going to sit within the rest of um the world and there's some great horses here some great Riders here and you you can never obviously take that for granted so um yeah no tears today I don't think I mean I nearly cracked earlier but well save them for the weekend sopie congratulations today thank you very much thank
