THE CANUCKS RUSHED THATCHER DEMKO? ELLIOTTE FRIEDMAN SPEAKS…

[Music] is this not exactly what I've been saying the past few weeks now that it's September now that we're starting to see the podcaster get back to the podcasting the broadcasters getting back to the broadcasting and the writers actually making articles about tangible stuff that's going on and not just proposing hypotheticals now right now John now is the time where the news will just start flowing in and that's exactly what Elliot fredman did on today's edition of the 32 thoughts podcast now we already made a video just a few hours ago going over the comments made by fredman in regards to Sydney Crosby that's great nice to see the update there but fredman also had a few other updates on other players and this is where you start to get into the Vancouver connect side of things now I will say the big piece of news that preceded this Elliot fredman comment had taken place a few days prior the Vancouver conu made some changes to their goal tending staff Ian Clark who was the primary goal tending coach for the past few years stepped down into a more scouting type of role and Marco torinus a former KHL ska St Petersburg guy and somebody with other various experiences throughout the hockey world he stepped in as the main Vancouver Canucks goal attending coach so that was like 2 weeks ago new roles for these two guys in the Vancouver connects organization and a lot of people were kind of questioning okay why is Ian Clark not the main guy anymore I mean with markstrom with Miller with Demco with shilov Ian Clark was so good at developing and making these goenda anymore and maybe this Elliot fredman comment will go out there and illustrate why exactly that is let's go over on an article on Canucks army.com from earlier today published by Mike gold because what gold does is he pretty much transcribes the quotes made by fredman it allows us to screenshot to put it on the screen it's a lot better than me just kind of repeating to you what's going on Elliot fredman says that the Vancouver Canucks may have rushed Thatcher Demco back into action prior to the Stanley Cup playoffs oh boy that is a hot hot take this article by gold goes out there and pretty much revisits the stuff that we've been talking about with thatr Demco he was an All-Star he was a vzna trophy finalist he was really good but then he wasn't able to play towards the end of the regular season he sustained a knee injury in early March Demco ultimately returned to starting duties on April 16th just 5 days before the Vancouver conects first playoff game of the year but as Sports Nets Elliot Freedman indicated on Friday's Edition of 32 thoughts of the podcast the Canucks put pressure on Demco to return to action and prove himself before the playoffs began which in turn may have led to him reinjuring himself oh man oh boy that's great right absolutely great fredman says here there's been a lot of rumors about what procedures Demco may or may not have had there's a lot of mystery there because nobody will talk about it this is what I believe I believe that the Vancouver kadu told Demco last year before the playoffs we need to know that we can count on you in the postseason we don't want uncertainty and you have to play two games before the playoffs before we commit to you to start the postseason I think that's a very reasonable position to take however what it did was it forced Demco to rush to get back I'm not even convinced that he was 100% healthy you could understand the conu position while also understanding what it made Demco do and so Dem comes back he wins one game and then he gets hurt and you know what this is so so unfortunate if what fredman is saying is 100% fact like oh this is how it happened then you know I don't want to go out there and get upset about anything you know like I can't feel upset at the Canucks for giving Demco that stipulation hey we need to play you at the end of the regular season or else we can't commit to you in the playoffs like we're not going to be able to get that goahead and throw you in fresh with no training and no preliminary games in the postseason because it's the gosh darn postseason like we cannot afford to lose any of those games so Demco if you want to play we have to see you at the end of the regular season I do agree with fredman here saying that that's a very reasonable thing to say and I don't really blame thatr Demco for forcing himself to get back into the crease especially if he wasn't 100% health because he wants to be the guy he wants to play now sure I think there's some onus on the player himself to admit whether or not he's capable of playing to his full capacity or not and maybe Demco feels or he felt at the time that he could have done that you know you don't have to be 100% healthy to be able to give 100% of your maximum capacity output right like sometimes if you're feeling a little bit of a pain here and there you can still play you can still do your thing it's not necessarily one and the same oh you cannot play until you were 100% fully painfree and so for everybody involved here I don't really blame Demco for rushing himself to get back he wanted to be the main guy I don't blame the Vancouver Canucks for giving those stipulations out to Demco they want to get certainty at the same time though I will say it's a lot easier for us in 2024 September month to be like yeah no they should have just sat him out but you know why we're able to say that because there's hindsight involved we recognized that the Vancouver Canucks had a really good run out of arur seov and Casey the Smith wasn't bad either because kanuck fans know now with the benefit of hindsight that shilov and Des Smith were fine as a pairing now it's easy to say oh they should have sat Demco but like think about it back in April if we had learned from Elliot fredman hey Demco is not 100% but he's still playing like do you think the Canucks fans would have been rational enough to say oh no sit him out we'll just go with the Smith oh no the Smith is out let's just go with shilov like nobody would have thought that it's only with hindsight that we can now feel comfortable with the idea of Demco sitting out because we know it's different now let's go back over onto the article and read the other things about fredman's comments here fredman went on to comment about the uncertainty surrounding Demco even during the playoffs noting that he had received contradictory information from various sources about whether the 28-year-old goalie would be able to return and added that denko's injury may not ever be fully dressed I believe the best intel was nobody knew and right now we are still in the same place the best piece of information I've been given is that quite simply he's going to have to learn to play with this like it's not something that can be fixed with surgery but it's something he'll have to learn to play through and he can play through to a high level and that is even more cryptic than all the other stuff that we had seen that satra Demo's injury is something that he'll never be able to get fixed he's just going to have to learn to play with this for the rest of his career oh boy who would have seen this coming we heard earlier that this was like a freak injury that apparently happened to Demco like if you play for 50 years you're not even going to be able to get this once and the fact that Demco did apparently get this was just a matter of sheer gosh darn luck but at the same time this links to the news that we had talked about at the beginning of the video because there have been some people speculating that maybe the way Ian Clark develops as goenda is successful maybe that training style or training regiment is in part responsible for the thatr Demco injury who really knows I'm not going out there and saying that 100% I'm just saying that that idea has been floated around there on different parts of social media and you know when you hear about Demo's injury being a total freak accident something that nobody could have had any control over you start to wonder what led up to that and what actually caused that of course we're not getting any information as fans the media is not really telling us anything so for Elliot Freedman to pretty much say here that maybe part of the reason deco's injury was even push further was because they rushed him back because he wanted to play in the regular season to end off the year before getting any sort of a go-ahead in the playoffs maybe that played a bigger part than we realized in this entire thater Demco injury conversation so I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about this Elliot fredman update on Demco thank the gosh darn heavens for Elliot fredman coming out here on a podcast to start giving us news of stuff that we had absolutely no idea about because man it makes my job as a Content GR Creator responding to all this stuff a lot easier so blessed be to Elliot Freedman and kabuk kasus for going out there on 32 thoughts and giving us the Demco update but I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comments are you concerned about the way Thatcher Demco and his injury progression has gone we're hearing that he's back on the ice he's skating so that's good he might even be ready for the pre-season who really knows maybe not maybe so but for now what are your thoughts on the way everything was handled and what are your thoughts on the outcome of course it's different now because we know that shobs and dmth were all right so you got the benefit of hindsight here in September but back in April back in June back in may we didn't have the same sort of confirmation so how is that going to change the way you view this entire situation let me know your thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this V r99 and bye [Music] n [Music]
