Heather Lyke out as Pitts AD

hello everyone John waffle h2p here um it's rivalry week and instead of unfortunately talking about the inbreds down south I have to talk about a controversial issue um as of today September 9th 2024 Heather lake is no longer the athletic director at the University of Pittsburgh um that comes in a shock today but it also comes in an understanding situation so here's my thing with like she has done great for Olympic sports she has made the program very respectable we are number one currently in volleyball were top 10 in men's soccer top 25 in women's soccer past four years we were in the semifinals for volleyball past two years we were in um two years ago we were in the semi-finals for men's soccer hopefully we get there again uh elad eight the first time around for women's soccer wrestling very well respected ACC championship for football in 2021 two ACC Championship appearances um first uh basketball NCA appearance since the Barnes era and so on Heather light got us out of the darkness of the dino cat AA era that left us off from all the way back to the end of 89 at the end of uh the whole controversy there with godfried and the players and that's where all this started and hopefully it doesn't continue now a lot of people are going to say this firing is basically like Jackie Cheryl's firing and Jo Sanders firing back in the 40s and 80s respectively however I see to disagree as of right now I mean that would just be stupid if she does that and she is a if that was her thing I mean academics does not rule the university this isn't Duke um looking at the situation at hand though it looks like they're moving in it looks like it's more of an nil thing at this point of course we don't really know the full story it is still very bizarre that she was let go this early in the football season maybe at the end of the win of the fall semester that would have made a lot more sense however it it makes zero sense right now um looking at Joan Gable's uh perspective she is a bit from the Big 10 um I have no clue what this means I mean are we trying to get in the Big 10 there could be lawyers involved there could be a lot of stuff that we will probably never know about but my guess is Heather like has not been focusing on the football program um as much as she should we have the whole Victory Heights thing very good for other Athletics a $200 million investment but looking at it our athletic department is currently in the red and that is not good that is not a healthy athletic department especially in a crippling conference like the ACC a lot of our fans are being doomers now I mean I just don't hope they're not surrendering like they did in the 80s with Cheryl to Penn State again I hope we get a new 80 that is going to inspire Rich alumni yes we have a lot of Rich alumni billionaire alumni if we if those alumni paid and I know I'm I'm being greedy myself but if they put their time and money into this we would be like Penn St Alabama recruiting wise and we would have multiple and El my whole problems around the football program was not other like them it's Nardi and it's always been Nardi Nardi doesn't know the times and honestly if we screw up again he should go at the end of the season I mean it's just not fair for the fans the players the students and everyone else involved Joan Gable herself when she got here she came from Minnesota and she's not the athletic director she never was at Minnesota but she oversaw a very talented coach uh PJ Fleck come into the program and make things up now he's turned out to be overrated like a MAC coach but in 2019 to 2020 very very solid coach very solid program for Minnesota actually uh we we thought wow this this program going to go far boy were we wrong about that though looking at the situations at hand when you look at things it's not surprising that she got canned I mean it's just not she is the head hon show and she wasn't doing too much about it now secondly I believe that the football program should be invested to the bridges or sport directly is football historically now who should we hire as the 80 in my opinion it needs to be someone that gets major donors involved and get things funded a lot of people want Louis rck or some other people but honestly I mean it needs to be someone that the rich people could agree on and that's all I have to say on this situation um I wish Heather like nothing but the best um she got us out of a horrible Dino cat era I mean there was some magic in that a lot of people are like criticizing this saying that Nardi is the best coach since uh the 80s and I disagree uh under Cheryl I mean that's crazy he's more like Walt Harris maybe a little less but that's besides the point he's still hired at this point but we need to rebuild hopefully this is something that is going to get attention again I have no clue what's going on but as of right now we don't have a full-time athletic director and the best athletic director we ever had was just canned hopefully it's for the positive that's all I'll say so stay tuned like subscribe share this video as always guys hail to pit um the West Virginia pregame video
