breaking Cruise news a massive mudslide has created Havoc for cruise port operations in Skagway Alaska I have video that I'm going to share with you dozens of cruise passengers were stranded away from their ship big impacts on cruise excursions this is breaking news and I'm going to get you the information coming [Music] up welcome to the travel Scouts my name is Jason this news was just received so let's go ahead and jump into it I'm going to share with you the video here in just a moment but first let me share with you the details that are known along with the impact it has had on cruise operations This Disaster impacted the cruise operations for Skagway Alaska Skagway is one of the favorite and most popular ports on a cruise to Alaska reports are that the rockslide slm mudslides occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday if you have ever been to Skagway you know that the most popular EXC is the White Pass and Yukon route Railway Kelly and I did that Excursion on our Alaska cruise last year it is a Scenic Railway that runs from Skagway Alaska all the way to white horse in the Yukon territory of Canada well the reports that I am receiving indicate that the massive rock slide overtook the railroad tracks and then the roadway on the Klondike Highway this effectively cut off approximately 150 Cru ship passengers from getting back to their ships the passengers were from the Holland America conning Dam and the discovery Princess cruise ships so in addition to the railway being shut down Canadian authorities had to close a 50-m stretch of road between Fraser and car cross the US Border Station also closed the road entry from the Skagway side it is a mountainous area and there are no other roads available to get those passengers quickly back to the port so the cruise lines opted for a unique solution the only viable option they could come up with they arranged for the passengers to be busted 288 mi from carcross to the Cru Port City of hannes Alaska that is a 5H hour and 20 minute drive if there were no stops hannes is relatively close to Skagway via water I being told that the cruise ships are picking up their passengers in Hanes and they should be reunited with their ships sometime today now thankfully I am being told that there are no reports of injuries from the rockslide SL mudslide that is the great news however the kondik highway going out of Skagway is closed until further notice additionally all tours out of Skagway are canceled for today there are four cruise ships scheduled to be in Skagway today and another three are scheduled to arrive tomorrow obviously there will be major disruptions to excursions for these cruises now what I'm going to share now is video footage that I received of the rock slide here it is and I'll catch you on the other end I would say just thought perhaps we should start driving in the event another pce event also goes okay I'll be praying for the people of Skagway great people aside from the cruise stuff more importantly I know that this will be impacting their daily life we pray that it will be resolved quickly okay that's the information I have for now subscribe for updates and I'll catch you in the next video [Music]
