Val Kilmer’s / Doc Holliday’s Pocket Watch

hello all Hollywood Western wardrobe fans welcome back to another video uh today's video is on Doc holidays watch and I'm going to just talk about a few things before we get to the watch um first off these poker chips are vintage I want to say 1800's clay chips and uh they actually are on one of the tables in the movie when they're gambling so I added those to my collection the Pharaoh cards are not 100% to the movies but I believe these are original old ones uh the movie ones have a red back on the card and I can only find blue and then the movie box uh it's something a little different on the top but pretty close uh to what was in the movie and until I find the original stuff this is what I will use however this video is done on Doc's watch um as you see here this is a functional uh watch as it is moving and I'm going to close it up and my watch has jhh engraved in it John Henry holiday this is the back of the uh the watch this watch is very heavy uh I actually found it on eBay already engraved and everything um and I bought it it was kind of expensive uh but I had to have it for my collection The Watch chain that you see right here pretty much mimics VVS in the movie um this is what this little hook right up here is what is hooks around your button this hangs down and I call this the tassel and v/ do has a tassel ornament on his then he's got a ball here and a ball here and then right here should be an oblong cylinder device that goes in between here I have not found that yet I will I just haven't found it yet The Watch chain I also bought on eBay and it came from Europe it was stated that it was vintage uh Victorian and I'm like you know this is pretty close to docks and I can add a few things to it to make it more um screen accurate and I think so far so good I just got to get that piece uh The Watch chain was not cheap as really really as any of my uh collection none of it's cheap uh I say that not to say oh look at me I'm spending stupid money on crazy stuff uh I state that fact for people out there that want to do a dock holiday and I will always help anybody out I can uh either with it be props clothing whatever that you're looking for I will help you all I can in I just want you to know that it's not a cheap Avenue to go down uh I do it because I'm partially crazy I think but I just have this effectuation and in my book if I'm going to do something I'm going to do it to my very best ability um things may not always be 100% screen accurate like when it comes to our wardrobe and stuff and and as I've stated in other videos the reason behind that is I can't find that fabric so we got to go with what we can find and use and let's just say for instance um we'll just go one of v/ do shirts let's just say I did find the original fabric I would probably be able to make one maybe two shirts if I was lucky well if everybody's wanting one they can't get one because there's not enough fabric so we use a fabric that is very very very close to what was used in the movie and that way we can reproduce these items uh you would have to have a very very keen eye uh on this stuff to know that hey that wasn't used in the movie uh because Doc's watch was never seen in the movie there's a scene where there's a a P of chips and rings and stuff like that but there's a watch out there but we don't know if it's it's docks or not uh so I interpreted what I thought let me kind of get down there so you guys can see that without catching the glare uh what I thought was used now I always state if somebody said hey here's the original watch I would hunt it down find it and put it in my collection um but that just hasn't been done and guys I've spent literally well the movie's been out what 30 35 years and I've been looking just about that long and uh and it's just been a slow build to what I've established so far um the knife you know that had to be custom made the holsters had to be custom made finding the right guns and and everything and then working on building um at first I had to find somebody that could sew and make stuff for me and uh thank God Elaine I ran into a lane and we've started this little business uh doing Hollywood Western wardrobe um and it's just it's just taken a long time and just things aren't done overnight but uh as I've learned things and come across things and uh things are a little easier to obtain now because I've done the homework and stuff like that on it so I'm always willing to help anybody out I can I can put point you in the right directions on like where to get the correct holsters the correct knife um the correct shirts and stuff like that the question is are you going to want to spend the kind of money that I'm spending for my collection and um you know everybody has a a budget to work within some guys don't want to spend more than $50 for a cowboy hat some people don't want to spend you know more than $100 for a holster and stuff and guys I get it but it's just that the stuff that we're doing is high quality it's as close as the movie is that you're probably ever going to get and uh so you know that's your choice I'm just here to help you along those lines if you're trying to do it the movie way put it that way but but uh my collection grows every day uh some stuff takes longer to come in I you know there's lots of research that goes in it but the watch um to me is a very intrical part of Doc Holiday because when you see Doc in town Doc is always dressed to the nines he's an aristocrat um he's well spoken he's very classy and this watch to me represents that is it a 100% well we don't know really what the watch look like but the chain is very very very close to vs and sometimes you just got to go with very very close uh I've stated a million times that most of those people just would not pick up on these items if I wasn't pointing them out uh I could said oh no this was the original or whatever and most people wouldn't catch it now there's some of you guys out there that would because you have the same I call it anal traits uh OCD whatever you want to call it uh that you you pay attention to the details and I'm never going to lie to anybody and say oh I own the original this that or that if I did I'll do a video and I will say it and I'll state it and if I tell you that and it's true but I don't own anything original from Tombstone at this point of the game I will go on record and say that I have bid on some of the original stuff stuff I just got done bidding and I lost uh on Kurt Russell Kurt Russell white herbs original hero hat I just bid it on it on it this weekend uh I bid 2,000 and it went to 9,000 I have bid on um Sam Elliot's Virgil's original screen used boots from Tombstone uh I think I lost those by $500 I think I bit up 2,500 or something on those um um I have bid on stuff I have just not been lucky enough to own anything or win an auction so with that being said if I did I would uh let you guys know I have a budget just like everybody else and you know there's a lot more people out there with a lot more money than me um I have more money than some people it just that's how life goes um and you know to me there's only things that are worth a certain amount um was Kurt Russell's hat worth $99,000 not in my book but in if you're a big Kurt Russell uh Wyer fan of Tombstone then yeah that uh that hat is worth you know $910,000 to you but to me it wasn't now Val Kilmer stuff yeah I'd probably maybe reconsider my budget on if any of that stuff would ever come up for sale I know it has come up for sale a long time ago and when I discovered that the auctions were already over so I didn't know about the auctions at the time otherwise I might have been a player um so anyway this is just stuff that I put together for my own personal satisfa satisfacation uh because I love Doc Holiday I love um Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holiday was the real Doc Holiday like that did he sound like that nobody will ever know nobody can I mean history is so controversial it's not even funny because nobody knows and then there's people I own the original gun or one of these jackets for the original blah blah blah we don't know if those are original we can take their word for it they can have some kind of documentation and stuff but documentation can be forged and it it just gets real iffy on that stuff so I am the type of guy that you know yeah you you could own the original stuff awesome but we don't know for 100% fact and with that being said then that's why I lean towards the Hollywood way instead of the original uh authentic way because on screen you can't dispute hey Val War this hat he carried this pistol this is the holster blah blah blah blah there's there's not any really dispute on it now there's some stuff that doesn't really show up like the knife uh that shows in detail or the watch and stuff like that so I always say left up to interpretation but if Val would show hey here's the original watch that I carried in Tombstone awesome I would like I said go back and and correct my findings but until that time comes I'm just going with what I have uh or if somebody can prove me differently then I'll change I'm not 100% dead set on what I have it's just this is what I can find for the at the present time and so I just like to share my collection with you I'm not really doing any people are saying hey how come you're not doing uh videos on on the Wardrobe that you guys make the reason for that is Elaine is backlogged and we I've done videos and stuff or photos I will do some more well I guess we sold the shirts that I did videos or photo when I did a photo shoot on and never thought about doing a YouTube channel so as stuff comes into me I will do new videos and stuff like that but Elaine basically has to get out of the weeds by getting orders out to customers so in the meantime I'm just going to fill up some time with some uh nonsense like
