coast as a c ategory 2 hurricane guys on Wednesday knocking out power to hundreds of thousands threatening reg with widespread flooding As Cities widespread flooding As Cities become inated with rainfall Francine made landfall in the Parish of terone about 30 Mi Southwest of Morgan City the National Hurricane Center announced at 5:00 PM that the category one hurricane had moved to a two threatening the area with heavy rains hurricane force winds according to the hurricane center around 1:00 a.m. the center of Francine was passing Northwest of New Orleans Francine yeah charge your phone and have a car adap ready true bro get prepared guys have you a couple batteries ready all the surrounding areas the storm swiftly knocked out power along the Louisiana coast with nearly 339,000 outages reported by Wednesday according to USA today's power outest tracker this is very crucial guys as being essential to make sure that everybody comes out of this storm okay the Louisiana governor Jeff Landry said the National Guard had been mobilized and had almost 400 high water Vehicles 87 boats and 50 helicopters ready to Aid rescues and Recovery efforts he urges residents to follow instructions of local officials including evacuations if necessary some good news though the Hurricane Center said Francine was expected to rapidly weaken after making landfall Francine was forecast to move into Mississippi and then northward into the Mississippi Valley as a tropical depression reaching Memphis by Thursday night so everybody in Memphis get you some perishables get you some stuff Education reported numerous schools District closures Wednesday and Thursday due to severe R several Louisiana universities including including Louisiana State University two lane announced campuses significant flooding in areas of of coastal parishes unfolding in the New Orleans area forecasters warn the National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency on Wednesday and Thursday night for the itan corridor in the Louisiana area and particularly New Orleans in all four parts of the parishes the agency warned that between 5 to S Ines of rain had fallen and another two to three Ines was possible and on the way the Weather Service called it a catastrophic damage threat and warn people to seek Higher Ground Francine is slowly lifting northward to rain so rain will tap her off however guys roads are still flooded do not go out please listen to him guys do not go out the weather service in New Orleans said on on Fry on Thursday morning at 9:25 it's not safe shelter in place in the lowest nonf flooded area heavy rainfall will be reaching the north side in the next 1 to two hours please continue to shelter so yeah guys this what they saying so y'all be very careful also the weather service in New Orleans said during a 9:00 briefing that water was entering homes and businesses across St Charles Parish getting close to that in St John and Baptist parish and entering buildings in Kenner video from local television stations and on social media showed major flooding in mety in Jefferson Parish as Greeks were overflowing with water this is very critical about 31 Mi Northeast of Morgan City and 58 miles Southwest New Orleans reported water entering their homes as well and flooding their living rooms a band of storms had set up and was dumping excessive rainfall over the small area and the water in Lake ponon was Rising which meant the rain had nowhere to drain in Morgan City a Jefferson Parish police asked residents to stay inside due to sever unusual amounts of flooded so yeah guys that's it be careful watch yourself and stay alert make sure all kids animals and pets yeah make sure all them kids all the animals and all the pets are straight guys we got two red flags obviously meaning do not get in the water I don't think there's nobody back there that's in the water so we don't have that problem but you see the clouds growing guys it's going to be a big one it's a serious storm right here yeah thank you marshmallow I appreciate that yeah man it's a big storm it's a lot going on but nonetheless if we take precautionary uh things that we that we can do to help you know take away what could happen and we'll be okay but we don't want to leave nobody unannounced and nobody unwatched guys call your people call your cousins your aunties if you're close by the G Coast Area check on them see if they need anything sandbags water perishables canned goods whatever that may be y'all call them about a 45 mph wind guys I let y'all see it you see the P palm trees we got a nice surge yes sir got a nice wind surge about 40 mph so it's a lot that can go on with this type of wind guys make sure you got your stuff scra down around your house if you got things that can fly away pick them up guys pick them up and put them underneath your house or around the house or inside patio furniture make sure you get that taken care of as well thank you okay moving a little bit further with the news guys in Jefferson Parish a parish in the greater New Orleans area urge residents to limit water usage during the storm due to the Aging sewage system according to the president Cynthia Lee Shing the system is getting overwhelmed Shing said at a Wednesday news conference the water has nowhere else to go and it's getting backed up leing said the parish received numerous reports on water Wednesday about residents who were unable to flush their toilets and manhole covers that be bubbling up that's pretty that's pretty crazy Parish also advise residents to avoid activities such as washing dishes and doing laundry in the effort to minimize overloading the sewage system this is very critical guys yeah make sure y'all limit washing dishes all that because you don't want to get that system backed up where it came flush itself in time yeah we got a lot of rain coming yeah it's actually raining pretty good right now so I'mma put my little put
