617 right now on a weather impact Thursday morning and as you take a live look outside, you can see exactly what the impact is. Those outer bands of hurricane Francine. Now, a tropical storm already making their way into the mid south, bringing with it very heavy rain and high wind gusts. You can see that camera shaking around just a little bit again. This is really just the beginning of those outer Bay hands of Francine. We're just kind of right on the edge of it. We have a lot more rain and wind to go before Francine will get out of here. It has been downgraded like I said to a tropical storm winds right now, 45 miles an hour down near the center, we're already seeing gusts in Memphis of 20 to 25. Those will just get higher through the day as the heavier rain moves in. Right now. It's down near Jackson, that's gonna continue to move northward here a little closer to home. Again, those first bands of Francine just moving in from the south, they'll continue to move to the north. If you're not seeing rain yet, you will be soon and it's gonna continue all through the day. We already have one of those heavier bands in here, those yellows showing up on the radar. That's where the rain is really coming down. It's pretty much right through Memphis and West Memphis and Criton County right now. This is where the wind is also going to be a little bit higher. Any time the rain picks up, the wind is gonna pick up with it. Check out these rain totals. This is over the last three hours really. It hasn't been raining in Memphis. But for about an hour, we've already seen an inch and a half of rain down near Hickory Hill, close to an inch of rain in desoto County. And this is just the beginning. We have at least 12 more hours of rain to go. That's why we've been so concerned about that flooding threat. Again, closer to lunchtime rain really picks up. I would say this afternoon or 3 p.m. That's when the heaviest bands of Francine will be moving through. It's gonna continue into this evening. And tonight though, we might start to see the heaviest rain let up by nine or 10 p.m. But still light showers will continue overnight tonight. And even into portions of Friday, it's not gonna be raining as heavy on Friday, but there will be some showers even through tomorrow. Again through the day. Today, winds also pick up those gusts could be as high as 40 or 45 miles an hour by this afternoon. Once all is said and done, at least 2 to 4 inches of rain would not be surprised to see some neighborhoods get up to five or six inches of rain. So flooding possible today, especially on those side streets that usually flood winds are gonna be high and again, that rain continues all day today. That's why it's a weather impact day, heavy rain, high wind gust rain overnight. Tonight starts to let up a little bit. Tomorrow will be the same thing. It's not gonna be as heavy of rain tomorrow but still some light off and on showers for Friday. Looking at to the weekend. It's a big weekend in Memphis, Southern Heritage Classic and Cooper Young fest Saturday, things are looking mostly dry. This weekend, Francine will be moving on out of here, but there's still a chance of a light shower or two Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Again, rain chances pretty low. This weekend next week looks mostly dry. Temperatures are warm back to the mid eighties.
