e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e [Music] all right here is a live look at Orange Beach and things don't look too bad down there right now do that if you wanted to go for a walk out there you certainly could just stay out of the water please we got red flags flying obviously a high rip current risk here for today as the golf is turned up as we are dealing with hurricane Francine churning its way towards Louisiana we're going to be on the rightand side of this storm and we're going to be on the wet side of the storm Heavy Rain Gusty winds coastal flooding today tonight tomorrow morning we are in storm tracker alert boat hey folks a meteorologist Matt barti and here we go there it is there's Francine this is 3D imagery we can see the blow up of clouds here kind of right in the center it might be trying to get an a sack together to try to form an eye here by later today uh we're going to have to wait and see I do anticipate some strengthening at from this point uh right now is a category one I think at it's going to be at least a category two at landfall and that landfall is most likely going to be right around Morgan City Louisiana now you can see a center here in the radar but we're not getting an eye in the satellite so it hasn't cleared the clouds out of that Center for a true hurricane eye yet but it does have that Center and we do are getting we are getting rain now rain bands working their way into Louisiana our area still pretty quiet here at the moment as you first wake up and get ready for work get those kids ready for school today 90 mph winds category 1 storm moving to the Northeast at 10 miles hour headed straight towards Louisiana and it'll make its way across Louisiana probably pretty near New Orleans then head up towards Jackson and Hattisburg Mississippi uh we're going to be on the right hand side of it the whole time the right hand side of a tropical system system is where our all the weather is and the rain so we're going to be experiencing a lot of rain now we are under a tropical storm warning in Mobile and Balwin counties also uh George County Mississippi Green County Mississippi is under a tropical storm watch how much storm surge this is going to be one of the issues here particularly in around Louisiana they are going to get a lot of Surge and that is going to cause some major issues over that way how about for us well we are going to see minor issues because we're going to have minor storm surge 2 to four feet this will start later on today and going into overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning is when we'll see the storm surge issues in our area the low-lying spots the causeway uh out in the West End of Dolphin Island and some of the other low-lying spots around Mobile Bay we'll see storm surge issues from 2 to four feet of surge all right future cast let's get this in motion starting at noon today then going to 6 o'clock rain bands working their way across our area making landfall around Morgan City at dinner time tonight heaviest rain for us will be tonight going into the overnight hours and early tomorrow morning as this rain bands wrap around Francine as it works its way Inland we'll have very strong Gusty winds here overnight and through tomorrow morning we'll probably see wind gusts up around 50 mil per hour that'll probably be about the peak in our area about 50ish maybe a little bit higher than that but uh don't anticipate hurricane force wind gusts here we'll have tropical storm force wind gusts and a lot of rain obviously now this rain will start winding down tomorrow afternoon so things will be improving six o'clock tomorrow we have South Alabama playing we got some high school football games we should be able to get those in it'll still be raining most likely but lighter rain and lighter winds at that point and by Friday this thing is really clearing out and we're actually starting to see clearing Skies drier air moving in and really improving conditions our rainfall amounts uh some of our some coastal areas around 5 in but most of of the area be about 3 to 4 in 2 and a half to 4 Ines is what I'm anticipating in most spots here out of this so a good amount of rain but not enough to cause major problems that's that's a key thing if we can keep it down below 5 Ines that'll cause some Road flooding and that sort of thing but we should stay away from major problems um we have a tornado risk you see anytime you have a land falling tropical system the rightand side there is tornado risk it's not a very high tornado risk but it is a risk and it's something we'll have to contend with and watch out for as time goes on all right let's talk wind so 3 o' you're picking up the kids from school we're okay here wind gusts are 20 25 miles per hour across most of the area that's why schools are still in in many spots because we did not anticipate you know Stout wind gusts at that time now as we get into six o'clock and and Beyond now the winds are really going to begin picking up here across the area we'll start seeing wind guts over 30 mph and then as we get to around 9 now we're starting to see wind gust above tropical storm strength here at 40 at 40 plus miles an hour in spots and that'll continue into the late night and overnight hours even seeing some 50 m per hour wind gusts here at this point so that's likely going to be the top end round 50 I mean obviously it could be 54 55 somewhere like that but I'm thinking 50 is just the going to be the top end with our wind gust here we are at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning still very strong winds at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning and we'll have high tides and souly winds in Mobile Bay at that point so guess what's going to happen the causeway is going to flood just figure on if you have to drive into work tomorrow morning that it's very likely that the causeway is going to have to be closed just a very typical thing that we typically see strong southerly winds high tide that's going to flood the causeway as we get to later in the day things will improve by lunchtime we're already seeing lighter winds still windy but lighter winds and certainly by the evening of course this is when the football games will be played now look at the winds down to 10 to 12 milph much different scenario by then so we things will gradually improve as we go through the day tomorrow once again we do have a small tornado risk the wind risk uh will go 39 to 57 here on that so that's what I was talking about just over 50 miles an hour and then the surge risk 3 to five in Mississippi but 2 to four feet in Alabama is a minor issue but it will cause issues uh radar once again you can see the rainbands as the storm is moving in to Louisiana once again it'll make landfall around dinnertime tonight so we are under a alert here for today and tomorrow and things really improve for us Friday and Saturday as those conditions improve we're looking at really nice conditions as we head into the upcoming weekend Sarah all right Matt thank you so you just heard Matt's forecast to get you all the information you need for Hurricane Francine there is another way that you can get access to that information 24/7 and it's free this is our Fox 10 weather app y'all this is a great tool year round especially when there's something going on that's a big weather story so uh we're going to start taking a look at this is the homepage when you open it up this is what shows up it gives you all of the warnings and watches uh we were just talking about tropical storm warnings surge watch flood watch tropical weather statement all until tomorrow you can find that right on the top of your screen when you scroll down you'll see different videos that are up that are kind of going through the different time lapses of things but I really want to focus on a couple of these uh elements in here one of these is radar the radar is an excellent way for you to track what's going on weather-wise across the area you can zoom in like perhaps you could zoom in right now if you're looking in Mobile or maybe you're looking in Daphne which right now looks to be getting some rain you can go right down to street level to take a look at this but also y'all if you zoom out and it's literally right there at your fingertips look at the bigger picture this is Francine look at all the information surrounding this that you can uh choose to have or have not come up on your radar screen so you can hit the radar here and you can see everything you want to know you can put it into motion and watch it move and it also has a future cast so you can take a look and this is predicting on into this afternoon this is talking about 250 this afternoon all of the rain across the area on our part of the Gulf Coast a great resource the other thing that we want to show you so matches gave you his weather forecast just now here on good day GF Coast they also all of our meteorologists record weather forecasts and upload them right here to our weather app they do this throughout the day so you have the most upto-date information and if you are planning today where you're going to be what you need to do if you have kids going to school or going to work it tells you what the warnings are but look at this y'all hour by hour it's telling us what we can expect for today with those rain chances how high they are and it works us all the way through you can also do daily and you can see it lights up when we do have a weather alert day really really good information that you can use anytime it's free you can download it today we actually have been showing a QR code throughout the morning on your screen there you can do that to uh put it on your phones or your tablets you also I have it on my Facebook page with a link to download this information free and it's great to have Eric a great tool Spring Hill Toyota is e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e [Music] well hey there folks the meteorologist Matt barentine good Wednesday morning to you of course we are tracking Francine we are in sord tracker alert mode for today and tomorrow as this system makes its way towards us we're going to have a lot of heavy rain tornadoes will be possible with this there's life-threatening rip currents and tropical storm Forest wind gust will start later on today and go on through the early part of the day tomorrow so here's what we're looking at of course there is Francine it does not have a well finded eye in the satellite imagery now there is a center of circulation and eye you can see in the radar but not in here which is somewhat good news um it's not rapidly intensifying this morning but it is gradually intensifying we do anticipate that by landfall it's likely going to be at least a category 2 hurricane it's going to work its way through it's going to make a landfall around Morgan City Louisiana it's going to pass very close to New Orleans and Hattiesburg as it works its way northward that'll keep it just west of us but we'll be on the right hand side and we know what that means it means a lot of rain because we'll be on the side the wet side of the system there is that Center of circulation once again look you can see all the rain now it looks like like I it's only half a storm where's the rest of it oh the radar can't see all the way through all of this rain and then into the rain that's on the back side of it too but there is rain that wraps all the way around this storm and as it works its way in all that rain is going to come on in and we're going to be dealing with a lot of it here as we go later on today day right now it's actually pretty quiet out there so get to work get to school no problems out there this morning running the grocery store or something like that get that done now because tonight you're not going to want to go do anything because it's going to be raining very heavily so you want to get it done as early as possible here's what the future cast looks like at 10:00 a.m. you can see that rain building in the squally lines coming on in and I think we'll start seeing some heavier rain in coastal areas right around lunchtime Here Comes those rain bands and these are s you know tropical squalls not a lot of thunder and lightning but Gusty winds obviously inside of these and heavy rain at times at times blinding rain 2 o00 is about the time you're getting ready to pick up the kids the wind gust should be just below tropical storm strength probably about 20 25 maybe 30 miles per hour here at this point but so we we'll keep the winds below tropical storm strength when you're picking up the kids from school but the rain is likely to be pretty heavy in spots it could be blinding type of rain so be careful go slow out there here once again 3:00 a number of showers bands work working their way in and this will continue for 5 o' now as we get to around 5 here's where I think we'll start seeing the bands that have the stronger wind gust start moving in Wind uh tropical storm Forest wind gust here as we head into the evening hours could be as high as 50 plus miles an hour at times with these wind guts inside of these bands and that's going to continue on into the evening look at 8:45 and you can see the very very strong winds they'll be out of the East here at this point look how strong they'll be down around the coastline that'll continue on into the overnight hours Pensacola right now like I said it's quiet to start off with just some gray skies it'll be gray throughout the morning we'll have rain pick up later in the morning temperatures today staying in the 70s all day long because of the rain and the cloud cover rip CT risk is high man the surf is going to be something I know folks are going to want to go down to the beach and check out that cool surf 6 7 feet uh pounding out there but do not get in that water I know some Surfers will but the rest of us please stay out of the water we have red flags flying at most of our local beaches and I would not be surprised at all if they change them over to double Reds at some point here today here's a quick glance forecast in Pensacola uh obviously we're dealing with tropical squalls throughout the day highs only in the 70s tomorrow we'll have those morning squalls by Friday things are going to be really nice Friday's going to be a pretty day with lower humidity and very comfortable conditions with plenty of Sunshine but till we get there we've got to deal with this of course hurricane Francine churning its way towards Louisiana landfall anticipated dinner time tonight matk e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e [Music] our time now 6:45 and as Golf Coast residents prepare for impact from Hurricane Francine one business is making it easy now for folks to protect their property Warner Turf and Landscape Supply on Cottage Hill Road in Mobile is providing free sandbags for anyone who needs them they will be open until 1:00 p.m. today now if you need sandbags they say the best thing to do is to give them a call they'll fill them up and have them ready for you when you get there we've got their contact information and address for you in this story on our website at foxtv.com lot of preparations underway as we are tracking hurricane Francine one of the best ways to stay informed all the time 247 at your fingertips is with our FOX 10 weather app y'all this is a great resource I just opened this up uh just a second ago and you can see that it tells you all the watches and warnings right there at the top of the page this is really cool too when we take a look at this these are different videos and different links to stories so this is live updates radar sat or radar satellite and look at this school school closings all of the updated information for school closings all things weather related you can find right here on our fox1 app want to take a minute and take a look at the radar the radar is a great resource a lot of talk about heavy rain today and that impacting things going on across the Gulf Coast you can zoom in to things like in Gulf Shores take a look at the rain that it looks like in Gulf Shores some light rain or you can zoom way out and when you do here is Hurricane Francine and along with it it shows all of the warnings that are popping up and things that are happening here it shows the track that you can keep track of that as well as you make your plans for today y'all there is a lot to be thinking about here is a look at the hourly forecast for us again warnings up here at the top and then letting us know by 8 a.m. 90% chance for showers so you can keep track of this if you want to change the location you can actually do that as well to different cities across our area and if you're looking to keep track on a daily basis when is this going to move out this will let you know anytime you see it listed in red it means it is a weather alert back to the homepage real quick one more thing I want to show you this is a great element as well if you missed the weather forecast you can get them right here on the weather app Matt and our other meteorologists are always recording these and uploading these so you can stay up to date and Matt as we look at this track we're really keeping an eye today on the winds and the rain and maybe some uh conditions at the beaches too yeah that's right SAR I loved when he pulled up the location it still had Paris France from the Olympics on there let's just pull that up I'm sure they have much nicer weather than we do today tracking FR scene here we are in Galveston you can see the rough waves over that way uh they're not going to get a direct impact from the storm but they are getting some rough surf let's go Ahad and head back on over to our maps and talk about what we've got going on today of course we have the storm tracker alert Heavy Rain Gusty winds coastal flooding today tonight tomorrow morning that's going to be the timing of the worst weather all right so let's talk about what we got right now you can see these the storm as it approaches Louisiana we anticipated a landfall around Morgan City is going to work its way in around Baton Rouge very close to New Orleans and then up towards Hattisburg and Jackson Mississippi we're not going to get a direct impact from the storm but we're going to be on the right hand side and the right hand side is where most of the weather is at most of the rain is at that's how things typically work with a tropical system because they spin counterclockwise that leaves the right hand side as the the side that has the most weather on it because of that's where uh the circulation is going to be all right so you can see the heavy rain moving into Southern Louisiana right now you can see the center of circulation is tracking up once again towards Morgan City Winds of 90 mph moving to the Northeast at 12 and once again it's going to be tracking off to the Northeast and going around the Morgan City area now if it stays more on the easterly side of this path it'll be the centeral big be closer to New Orleans it'll be closer to Hattisburg so that would increase the possibility of issues for them it it'll also increase uh you know the possibility of the wind gust for us but I do believe we'll stay below hurricane Forest wind gusts in our area we'll see some some Stout ones some 50 plus m per hour wind gust at times later today but I think we'll stay below hurricane force all right so looking at the storm surge obviously this is going to be a big issue for folks in Louisiana for us it's going to be a minor issue we're going to see two to four feet of storm surging around Mobile Bay one to two feet over into the Panhandle uh two to four feet is enough to cause problems like out west Mo western part of Dolphin Island of course uh the causeway I anticipate especially tomorrow morning it's likely the causeway will be washed over and will have to be closed and other low-lying areas in around Mobile Bay you know if your property tends to have issues 2 to 4 feet will cause those issues uh here's what it looks like on the futurecast this is noon time today heavy rain already starting to happen in parts of our viewing area that'll continue throughout the afternoon should be making landfall right around dinner time in Louisiana then it starts working its way in towards Baton Rouge nor Orleans area we'll be getting heavy rain here around midnight overnight tonight the rain should be really heavy on our roofs here tonight so we could also obviously have some power outages and that sort of thing here overnight probably won't be widespread spread power out just because we're not going to have the wind gust for that but there could be some localized ones and then 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning the winds are almost due south we'll have high tides in Mobile Bay almost certainly going to see issues like on the causeway like I said it's very very likely that the causeway will have to close for some amount of time as water washes over it and then 9:00 a.m. tomorrow is still raining pretty heavily across parts of our area but by noon we're starting to see some improvements tomorrow so I think that's really going to be kind of the cutoff point of the worst weather now we'll still have some rain around throughout the rest of the day on your Thursday but the the the nastiest weather will be done the winds will be calming down things will be improving so if you're going out to the South game Thursday night you're going out to some of the high school football games could still be wet you want to check in with Jason look at the radar but most likely be seeing improving conditions and certainly by Friday Friday's going to be looking a lot better here for us across the area how much rain are we talking about H some of our Coastal spots could see about 5 Ines I think for the most part somewhere between 2 and 3 in is going to be more common here across the area which is a lot of rain but it's not enough to cause major issues so if we can keep those rainfall mounts down around that it won't cause major issues but it won't be very fun to drive in the other thing we're going be watching out for tornado risk it's a low-end tornado risk but it's a risk and anytime you have a tropical system making landfall from where the center is to the right that's where you have a risk of seeing some tornadoes so that is a possibility that we'll be keeping an eye on that would be more likely late this afternoon this evening overnight tonight wind gust so here we are at 3:00 this is when you're picking up the kids from school this is why the schools many of them didn't let out but they did decide not to do after school activities it was a wise choice because here we are at 3:00 we're actually have heavy rain but the wind gusts are below tropical storm strength as we get to around 6 7:00 8:00 now the wind gusts are picking up now we're starting to see tropical storm Forest wind gusts here along the coast and in the western parts of our viewing area and those get stronger overnight like I said we'll probably see wind gust just over 50 mil an hour that's probably about the top end of what we'll see in parts of our viewing area and you can see that Grove Hill there tomorrow morning tropical storm Forest wind gust in and around Mobile Bay and then as we go later in the morning tomorrow the wind gusts begin to calm down and you can see they're dropping again here around lunchtime tomorrow rip car RIS this hopefully should be pretty obvious oh my box dropped out but it's high today high tomorrow and high on Friday it does drop to low over the weekend so conditions will be a lot better by the weekend but we got to get through this first got to get through this heavy rain continuing to fall over in Louisiana for us things are quiet to start off with so no problems getting to school getting to work this morning it'll be later today before we see that heavy rain moving on in probably around lunchtime is when the heaviest stuff Heavy Rain Bands Will begin here so right around lunchtime Here Come Those Heavy Rain bands working their way on in those will continue throughout the afternoon but this is just going to be continuous throughout the late afternoon on into the evening more and more rainbands heavy heavy rain as we go into the evening hours and then overnight as well so expect things to pick up later on this morning around lunchtime and then going through the afternoon Heavy Rain winds will pick up as well here's your forecast for the next several days so obviously we got to deal with that rain through at least uh well the Heavy Rain through the first half of the day tomorrow and then things clear out by Friday Frid is actually going to be a nice day dry air moves in and uh very pleasant conditions lots of sunshine Saturday gets a little hot but it's going to still be a nice day and Sunday looks pretty good as well so we got to get through Francine first we do have some nice weather on the way we'll be right back here on good day G [Music] Coast e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e feet a storm surge 4 to 7 feet there at the mouth of the Mississippi for us it's going to be about 2 to four feet in and around Mobile Bay that's enough to cause some minor issues certainly on the west end of Dolphin Island the causeway to Dolphin Island which of course we've seen some extra protection has been made recently there on the causeway of Dolphin Island it'll be interesting to see if we can keep that road open through this storm also the causeway over the bay that likely could see closures overnight tonight going into tomorrow morning as we deal with this storm surge so that will cause some issues here is the future cast I got it at noon today you can already see some rain bands working their way into our area there is the center headed towards Central Louisiana of course the rain will be feeding into that and we're going to have heavy rain throughout the afternoon and then overnight tonight probably the heaviest rain will be overnight tonight through tomorrow morning even though the storm is now Inland our flow will be now off the Gulf dragging those rainbands in here across our area and if it kind of tracks a little more easterly up Interstate 59 those rain bands will be even heavier here for us tomorrow morning now as we go later on the morning tomorrow towards lunchtime guess what things begin to improve because the storm is pulling North we'll still have some rain around but the winds will start calming down and the the heaviness of the rain it'll be a lighter rain here for us by the afternoon tomorrow and by tomorrow evening conditions will be much improved now it could still be some showers around so if you're headed out to the South game or some of the high school football games something to be aware of but it won't be dangerous at that point as far as the rain and wind are concerned and by Friday things are really clearing out how much rain are we going to be seeing out of all this the models been kind of all over the place but they've generally been around 3 in I I think that'll be the the most most for most of us 3 Ines of rain is about what we're going to see now there will be a few spots that get higher amounts but if we can keep the rainfall amounts like this we will not see significant floing now we'll see Road issues it's not fun to drive around the roads when we get that blinding rain and water ponding on the road but this won't be significant stream flooding or anything like that if we get three Ines of rain tornado risk is there it's it's not real high we're in the 5% Zone here across most over area but it's there and it's definitely something we'll have to keep an eye on just another issue that we could see with a landfalling tropical system wind gust today at 3 this is when you're picking up the kids from school this is why School stayed in for most places because the wind gusts here are still below tropical storm strength at 3:00 now the rain will be pretty heavy at spots but the wind won't be above tropical storm strength as we get to 6 o' now we're starting to see some tropical storm for or at least close to Tropical Storm Forest wind gust and certainly by the evening later on into the evening we will have tropical storm Forest wind gust here and these will get stronger as the evening goes along now we're starting to see some around 50 here at midnight tonight the center of circulation entering Mississippi at that point maybe working its way up Interstate 59 so we'll continue to see some very strong wind gust particularly in the western part of our viewing area and down along the coastline through tomorrow morning and once again we can see issues like flooding there along the coastline so a lot of issues to have to contend with we'll continue to track this for you as we go through the rest of the morning mat thank you it is now 7:06 good morning Sarah yeah we are live here we're still on the East End of Dolphin Island earlier at 6:00 we were on the East end but we weren't on the beach we've made our way now to the shore and I'm just going to step out of the way so you can see the conditions that we're looking at here now the surf is still rough you can see the waves crashing into the shoreline here this morning and that's only expected to continue as we get into this evening and into tomorrow now we had Crews here on Dolphin Island last night on the west end and they went through and experienced that flooding that we know All Too Well when it comes to the West End of Dolphin Island now here on the island it's important that if you live here that you have a plan we spoke to a woman who lives out here and she says that her and her husband actually live in the campgrounds but she does have a plan if it does get bad she can stay with someone else so if you are on the island it is important to have a plan just in case the flooding gets bad we are expected to see that flooding that storm surge and the winds to pick up throughout tonight and tomorrow and as expected here on Dolphin Island we're also expected to see double red flags flying now that's all important if you're looking at the conditions here people on Dolphin Islands West End have already been asked to move their vehicles to Higher Ground as soon as possible and I think the most important thing just to tell people at this point is to stay out of the water even if you think the conditions aren't as bad just please it is not worth it those are just a few of the tips and the biggest tip of all like we've been mentioning all morning is to download that free FOX 10 weather app is free on Apple and Android App Stores now that's just the conditions here in Dolphin Island but for more on what's happening out in Baldwin County let's go ahead and send it out to Fox 10 reporter anas brags who's in Golf Shores yeah good morning Stephen again I am in Orange Beach at cotton Bayou beach this morning and I wanted to really focus on how good it feels out here right now now despite the flag warnings right now things are relatively calm out here this morning as we look off in the distance you all will see that there are double red flags flying but we also have a purple and red flag flying as well now the purple flag means there's dangerous marine life nearby red flag means waterers closed and there's a high surf as you all look at how the flags are just barely waving you can tell that it's a bit windy out here but not that windy it's actually a nice breeze in the air it almost makes me want to take off my rain jacket now the reason I'm not going to take it off is because if you guys look to the skies and look at the clouds you see off in the distance there are certain dark clouds hinting that a storm is on the way in coming a little bit later but again it feels really nice out here and beachgoers can agree look at the beachgoers right now as they stroll casually super close to the water right now as the waves crash into the beach right now you all will notice that they have on shorts t-shirts and they're just pretty much just enjoying themselves right now pretty much enjoying the Calm before the storm water conditions also have not changed much within the last 30 minutes but of course we will continue to monitor it throughout the morning right now so stay tuned for more information on that and more information from officials about how they are preparing for the storm later on today for now reporting live in Orange Beach Annas sprags Fox 10 news annia thank you very much it's now 710 and Francine is already impacting our area this morning Catholic schools and mobile and Baldwin counties are closed due to the threat of inclement weather George County School District is also closed today and so are the Jackson County schools schools in the pasula goet school district and axel Academy in Mobile B and County Public Schools will operate though on a normal schedule today but all of their extracurricular activities will be cancelled including after school care and Mobile County public schools are are monitoring the weather now the school system says as of right now though today will be a normal school day but all of their after school activities are cancelled now you can find a list of the school and business closures on our website at fox10tv.com there's an orange Banner there at the top of the website click it and the list will appear all right let's uh we're keeping a very close eye of course on Hurricane Francine category 1 storm headed for a landfall later today in Louisiana we are going to see significant impacts from the system as it continues to churn its way northward more details on the forecast coming [Applause] [Music] up e e e e [Music] yes we are tracking Francine although the site down there in in Orange Beach this morning you know I guess literally the Calm before the storm things are nice and quiet and looks pretty nice we are of course under a storm tracker alert right now and tomorrow for this heavy rain tornadoes are possible life-threatening rip currents and tropical storm Forest wind gust starting later on today all right so I'm meteorologist Matt barentine I'm showing you the 3D imagery here of the storm and I don't just show this because hey It looks interesting because it tells us things right here the very last few frames what I am noticing is an eyewall beginning to form obviously that we can see these clouds tops blow up becomes more concentric and we starting to see an eye form that's showing us this thing is intensifying so bad scenario here getting stronger right before landfall it's going to make landfall around dinner time tonight so it still has about 10 hours or so of time out over those very warm Waters of the northern Gulf I mean the water temperatures here are mid to Upper 80s that is great fuel for a tropical system and it looks like it is beginning to start its uh intensification phase as it continues to work Northeast hurricane C has it as a category two at landfall so they do have an intensifying a little bit more from here but it could intensify even more than that as we go through the day here the center of circulation shows up very well once again the eye is just beginning to form in the actual satellite imagery with the clouds here's the Heavy Rain rapid around it uh working its way into Louisiana our area right now pretty quiet at Winds of 90 mph moving to the north east at 12: this is the 7: a.m. update so this is the latest update that just came in here near the top of the hour it continues to work its way off to the north and east here's those wind gust so if you look at the scale up here you'll see what we're looking at it's showing this this model anyway is showing 100 plus mph wind gusts right around the center here of the circulation making landfall there in south Louisiana now this model is a bit more right than some of the other ones the one that this is running off of so it's showing the center circulation going right through New Orleans obviously that would cause some major issues this is 9 o' tonight you look in our area we're seeing wind gusts over 50 m an hour along the coastline as we go into midnight once again wind gusts over 50 mil an hour around Mobile Bay and then as we go into the overnight hours still going to have some pretty uh strong wind gust anything in green is over tropical storm strength so even though it's moving Inland we're still getting tropical storm force wind gust here offshore and Nearshore here early tomorrow morning then as we get to around 9:00 a.m. you can see how that's shrinking down and it's mostly just blue here at this point which is wind gust 20 to 30 miles hour so here are the headlines for Francine we got obviously few things going on here uh The Heavy Rain there will be a tornado risk it's it's a small tornado risk but it's there uh there's a storm surge issue you know anywhere from 2 to 4 feet in most of the areas in around Mobile Bay and then lifethreatening surf at our beaches hopefully keep folks out of the water we don't want them in the water as the storm is moving on in once again for us so far this morning pretty quiet but you can see the heavier rain beginning to start to develop here offshore and this will be working its way onshore in the next few hours so things will increase here's the future cast showing that here by 9:00 a.m. a few showers is starting to pull in but then around lunchtime I think I think lunchtime is really going to be the time we start seeing our first significant bands come in with heavier rain and some Gusty winds now these Gusty winds will stay below tropical storm strength here through most of the day it won't be till late in the day going into the evening that's when we'll start seeing tropical storm Forest wind gust so you're picking up the kids from school the winds here won't be terrible but the rain likely be pretty heavy so be careful driving around those roads we know how tropical rain can be can blinding here and it'll continue on 4:00 Heavy Rain bands moving through 5:00 same deal so getting off work having to deal with that 9:00 now we're starting to see tropical storm Forest wind gusts here coming in from the east across our area hopefully you've picked up the stuff in your backyard the the chairs and all that because they're going to get blown around you know tropical storm Forest wind gust will will blow a lot of things around we want to make sure that everything is secure I mean you don't want to leave a chair out there and then it blows into your car then that's your fault so you want to take care of that all right let's get that done make sure we don't have to deal with stuff like that high resolution satellite once again there it is headed towards Louisiana um I'm going to have a lot more details on this as we continue to go through the morning as we get more information here on Hurricane Francine all right Matt thank you very much our time 7:19 and now would be a good time to download our Fox 10 News weather app it's in the Apple app and Google Play stores sign up all right here's a live look out there at uh right now from the Navigator Credit Union camera here this morning as we get going on our Wednesday and a good Wednesday morning everyone thanks for joining us here on good day G Coast it is September the 11th I'm Eric kenel and of course you're looking live right now at the skyline of downtown from our camera at the battleship things are looking a little cloudy there in the distance we have uh not had theal effects of the rain showers as of yet but Matt has more on that forecast coming up for us shortly this morning well thanks for joining us again I'm Eric Reynolds and I'm Sarah wall good morning everybody happy Wednesday happy middle of the week we continue to track hurricane Francine making its way toward Louisiana but impacting us with that rain that Eric is talking about windy conditions rough surf meteorologist Matt barentine tracking all of that for us today and it's looking like we could see some rough weather even though the storm not coming right at us yeah storm is not coming right at us we are looking at a looks like something's going on with my computer here looks like we uh may have lost it yep we sure did all right so let's go ahead and get towards the uh well we just go to the weather app here for you this morning we have uh Heavy Rain obviously it's going to be working its way on in later from Hurricane Francine uh we are seeing Gusty winds uh by this afternoon and here's if I go and get you here we're looking at the Heavy Rain that'll be entering got the futurecast actually up here on the on the weather app so that'll help us out here because it shows us very heavy rain this is going to be as we head into the evening here tonight so there is the current track though I want to get this up for you uh the current track as it heads towards Louisiana we anticipate a landfall right around Morgan City Louisiana at dinner time here this evening so far so good for us but look at the rain not too far away just south of Pascal goua and Gulfport this will be working its way in later on this morning so we're quiet at the moment but the rain is going to pick up later on this morning lunchtime and Beyond we're looking at Heavy Rain bands moving in here for us across the area as we go from lunchtime to Beyond so once again of course you go to our Foxon weather app you can find all this information if you missed the forecast and you're at work and got you on your phone you could always just pull up one of the uh one of the forecasts that we have recorded on there for you so you can keep up with it once again let's go ahead and talk about the radar right now currently we are seeing a good bit of rain uh mostly off to our south and east and you see that there around the Chandelure Islands Bay St Louis you're getting some rain as well and then as we put this forward once again on the future cast I'm going to go right to lunchtime so I'm going to stop my slider at lunchtime and it shows that rain moving on in with some heavier bands just behind it so get ready folks it's going to start around lunchtime that's when we're going to start seeing that Heavy Rain beginning to move on in it'll pick up as the afternoon goes along and into the evening as well I'll be breaking it all down for you here as we go through the show here this morning keeping track of the conditions along Dolphin Island this morning we going to check in now with Fox 10 news's Steven Moody good morning Stephen how's it looking where you are now Eric good morning yeah we've made our way inside of the Fox 10 storm tracker vehicle and we're actually headed now down towards the West End of the island I'm actually going to flip this camera around and show you what we're looking at now you're going to see the water already ponding here on the roadways you see a dolphin Island police vehicle here as well and the Department of Public Safety they're already out here just making sure that people are staying safe that's the biggest thing that we're going to be looking forward to at this point now they're on the East End on the island you saw the Beach conditions with the rough surf already here at 7:30 we saw the waves crashing into the shoreline that's something that's only going to get worse as Francine makes its way here now this is one of the things that we're looking at here right now the roadways this is actually a good sign not a lot of cars here on the roadways and like meteorologist Matt barentine was saying earlier if you have things to do the best time to do it would be now before that rain and that storm surge starts to make its way here due to the local impacts from Francine now just a few notes that I wanted to share as far as just some news Gathering things that I did this morning thanks to the help of the meteorologist there including meteorologist Nicholas herboso who helped out as well and and the biggest thing that he said and I'm going to reiterate as well is just staying out of the water if you think that the conditions aren't that bad it doesn't matter just make sure that you stay out of the water cuz that storm surge is going to be bad and that surf is going to be bad as well now here on Dolphin Island people on the west end here who live out here they were already being told earlier this week to move their vehicles to Higher Ground as soon as possible I mentioned staying out of water as well and the people who live out here it's important that if you live here that you have a plan I spoke to a woman just after 6:00 who says that her and her husband live in a campground here and she says that if it does get bad she has a plan to stay with a friend who lives in one of these houses here that are high off of the ground so make sure you have a plan that you're paying attention and you're staying weather aware you can do all of that with the Fox 10 News weather app which is free on the Android and Apple App Stores I'll be back in our next hour with more on the conditions here on the West end but for now reporting live here on Dolphin Island stepen Moody Foxton news all right Stephen thanks so much and we are continuing to monitor that track of Francine which is headed into Louisiana Morgan City Louisiana looks to be where the storm is going to make landfall that's Southwest of New Orleans live look at the Caesar super doome this morning New Orleans then east of the storm like we are but much closer to where the ey is expected to make landfall so going to see much more in the way of impacts with rain and winds all of that that's tied up with this hurricane moving on Shore right now though it looks like it is gray out there and we are continuing to monitor for rain and wind across the Gulf Coast including New Orleans all the way across to where we are this morning y'all can download that weather app that Stephen was talking about that QR code there on your screen for you we've also been sharing that on our Facebook pages the link to do that stay safe today stay safe out there in the rain and the wind we'll be right back e e e e e food laundry facilities as well as places to stay for those in need as well as their pets Ryan's Refuge is a men's shelter that provides housing and other resources for those in need the director tells us that they're doing everything they can and to get ready for the bad weather saying that Ryan's Refuge will be a place for those in need of shelter to get out of the storm and to stay safe they can come take showers and and uh wash and dry their clothes you're going to see we got washers and dryers hang out for the whole day pick your feet up brought TV play pool eat a couple meals and leave here clean and refreshed over Street says that he hopes that many will take advantage of these resources and in aldwin County St Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley is open to those in need of a safe place as hurricane Francine comes closer the church is located on North Pine Street in Foley and it's set to open this morning at 10: so still about two and a half hours because the church is not a shelter just a place for people to go officials with the church say to bring all the toiletries bedding food water and medication with you in Harrison County Mississippi shelters are set to open this morning for people who need a safe place to stay the shelters are at Diberville High School the laoui road shelter and the County Farm Road shelter there is also a pet friendly shelter at the Lyman Senior Center we're told pets do need to be in crates have leashes and that you need to bring your own pet food and supplies all right we are tracking hurricane Francine as it works its way towards Louisiana it's going to have major impacts obviously for Louisiana Mississippi and parts of our area details coming up e e e e e e news is annia spra she's actually live in Orange Beach annia good morning how are conditions there yeah good morning Eric I am at cotton Bayou Beach where the conditions haven't changed much within the last 30 minutes it still feels really good out here and the amount of people on the beach is actually picking up and joining me now live is one of the people out here at the beach she's been here all morning this is M Shonda Rodriguez good morning good morning how are you I'm doing good girl how you doing doing fantastic okay all right sounds good so first things first what brings you to the area my brother and his family moved down here about seven years ago so I come visit every year it's awesome yeah it is awesome I like coming out here it's a very big beach it is it's fantastic to be out here and just enjoy the weather and God's creations Okay cool so we got a storm coming up um are you concerned about the storm um impacting your vacation at all I am not I have made every you know the best of every moment I've come out here every morning and I walk and I been out in the rain doing it so it's a it's good okay um have you done anything to prepare for the storm I have not my brother I check with him I check the weather he says it's good um of course there's always concerned from the last hurricane that hit that you know they didn't expect to be like it was but we're always cautious but everything seems to be good okay okay cool has your brother done anything specific to prepare nothing specific for his house his house is pretty good but um you know he's always they've got sandbags the city has uh sandbags ready for anybody that may need them and and for the workers that need to prepare for their buildings all right sounds good well I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation and your time out here in Orange Beach thank you so much you guys have a good day thank you all right guys we will continue to monitor the water conditions and and the overall feel out here as we continue tracking the hurricane throughout the day so stay tuned for that but for now reporting live in Orange Beach and I frags Fox 10 News all right annia thank you for that live report and people staying out of the water with those double red flags flying this morning it's a smart thing to do rip currents are very dangerous and we are continuing to track Francine Matt is watching this storm moving into Louisiana but we are on the east side yeah the weather will pick up for us later da you saw the beach right now it's you know it's fine if you want to go for a walk out there at the moment things are are pretty good and things are pretty quiet it'll change later on obviously the rain's going to start moving in once that rain moves in it's going to be pretty crummy to go for a walk on the beach Heavy Rain Gusty winds coastal flooding all those will be issues that we'll be dealing with uh through the day today tonight and then through tomorrow morning as well by midday tomorrow things will begin to improve of course here once again I'm showing the the 3D imagery now I'm showing this not just because of looks pretty interesting but because it also starting to show a little bit of a sign of it trying to develop an eye a clear eye if it does do that that means it's uh intensifying pretty well so hopefully it doesn't hopefully we just see a gradual uh ramp up and that's what the Hurricane Center has forecasted it'll continue to gradually strengthen as it heads towards land uh and become a category two at landfall there around Morgan City Morgan City Louisiana is where we anticipate a landfall so that's right in through here the central part of Louisiana if it comes more on the east side of this track you can see that would take the center almost right over or really right over New Orleans proper so that's a real possibility for folks in New Orleans having to deal with this I mean obviously it's going to you it looks like land here between between the two spots it's not really land it's just Marsh and it's not so it's it's going to still be pretty strong by the time it gets to New Orleans they're still going to get some pretty stout winds 90 mph right now it's moving to the Northeast at 12 milph it's about 200 miles Southwest of Morgan City once again Morgan City is right about here and you draw a direct line they'll take it through either uh New Orleans or mety here just off to the west of New Orleans we'll probably see the passage of that eye and then it'll continue to work its way on up through Mississippi we'll be on the right hand side of the storm the whole time the right hand side is where the worst of the weather is and the heaviest of the rain is and we'll have lots of heavy rain due to the system storm surge is going to be a major issue in Louisiana it's going to be a minor to moderate issue here in our area uh as we look into Mobile Bay 2 to four feet that's going to cause issues West End to Dolphin Island the causeway to Dolphin Island and of course the causeway in the middle of the bay could also see some significant issues particularly tomorrow morning for the causeway we're going to have high tides around 6:30 tomorrow morning southerly winds from the storm likely going to be seeing the causeway get closed because it's going to get flooded over by by that storm surge uh here's the future cast this is noon time today so already starting to see the rain bands move in and they'll continue to pick up as we go through the afternoon it makes landfall around dinnertime tonight in Louisiana starts tracking off to the north and east and Crossing Mississippi and as it does so overnight tonight our rain really gets heavy and we'll have heavy rain around tomorrow morning so the morning tomorrow if you have to go to work early I mean likely you're going to be dealing with heavy rain at that point and some Gusty winds 9:00 a.m. still raining pretty good but by about lunchtime things are beginning to improve it's still going to be raining but the rain is going to be starting to slacken off the winds will start to to settle out and six o'clock tomorrow of course we have uh the Jags playing they have a home game tomorrow night we have some high school football games we should be able to get all those in probably still a bit wet but conditions will be improving there for the games tomorrow night by Friday things will be really clearing out and some drier air will be moving in
