um but boys we got a lot to talk about today uh Frank ragnow went on the Chris Chris Long his podcast and spoke about DJ reer Lee mcneel will'll get to his comments there's a player on the lions that many believe and in one National Outlet believes that people are sleeping on you know maybe a player that could come out and and shock a lot of people and this is not the first time we've seen this specific player get I know Lucas already know it's uh it's a player that you know maybe some are fond of maybe others aren't so we'll get to that specific player when we talk about it oh I just got it what I just thought of it I think I know who it is yeah remember I remember this is my first time of my career that I've never had looked at the prep sheet so as you're talking I'm over here like oh it's good uh we'll also review an article that was put out by Sports Illustrated Zone John macaron uh and he I don't know if he directly wrote it but they put it out maybe a potential offensive coordinator if it's not Tanner angran we'll get to that as well in the second hour but boys we'll start it off we're gonna play this clip of Frank ragau speaking about alen mcneel in DJ reader and kind of what they bring to the table it was nice hearing Frank because you know he went out in this pot I believe the last couple of days and they were talking about training camp coming up and he's going to get a a look at what El McNeil looks like now in pads based on last year uh much different player so let's hear what he had to say um so I want to talk obviously I'm a nose gu I want to talk about the other side of the ball I did a kind of a film study film breakdown we call them butter breakdowns I do them for the YouTube side of Chris's podcast but I did a butter breakdown on Al mcneel I think he's really developed into a pretty complete player man he seems like a great guy so I was wondering if you're looking forward to going against him in Camp um what kind of player he is and how you've watched him progress over the last couple years he's really talented really really really talented and just a great like since day one he's been just a humble like just a pro and uh it's been so cool to see him involved like last year he he cut a bunch of body fat and really kind of leaned up and you saw he was very Dynamic and he's just hungrier and hungrier and I think he's going to get better and better he's adding more and more little pass rush moves to his tool box or whatever and uh it's been it's been cool to see but the guy works and he's a he can be that three Tech who's the pass R threat but he can also be that nose who kind of plugs things up and early down so he's a he's a very special player he moves well for a big boy too on a lot of the stunts and dude he's a big time baseball player like a free really oh yeah I didn't know that you should look up clip he like was really good I'm gonna check that out we'll do a butter breakdown baseball Edition he's like a freak Show athlete and he's a rapper like he's just a kind of everything he does good he seems like a great guy for the locker room too you know just interesting cat and then you guys added DJ reer as well kind of coming off an injury we don't really need to talk about that too much but I think that'll be a valuable addition for the for the defensive line for you guys yeah I'm looking forward to seeing him he's been a guy of respect in this league for a while and he just does it the right way and everything I've heard about him as a person too has been phenomenal so I'm excited to have him on the team and then yeah add the fact that he's just a really really good good football player you put those two on the interior on it's going to be pretty cool yeah and I'm sure you played against him when he was with the Bengals or I Haven played him well you hear him there and I guess you know to Derrick's point he must be on Luca's internet plan uh at least when you're in the garage when you were in the garage yeah we we've addressed the issue you addressed the issue the issue internet issues the last 20 minutes and Frank Frank's in the in the house so hey Lucas you got him there you got him there but I didn't I didn't really hear anything that was false there I I I want to add this because we we talked about it the other day with uh without DJ R potentially if project Martin plays a lot more do you do you think maybe you could play Al mcneel at no tackle and then put someone else alongside him maybe like uh Levi owns orque oh here we go or or Makai Wingo someone like that someone with thate maybe you put if you're gonna put a at nose I think that's a perfect position to put Josh Pascal at the three Tech I I mean I know he's a little under siiz but I'm but either I get what you're saying you could even if you put a li at nose tackle honestly just because of his size like even slide uh Marcus Davenport down there and put James Houston at Edge I think there's a lot of ways that you can do it but at least while DJ reader is out I would still prefer Al to be that three Tech just because to Chris's Point like he's so good at doing both and I feel like that's where he really flourishes what about uh Makai Wingo I mean I'm I'm fine like if makai's in there but I think Josh Pascal like it's time to see what he's got and I think I think he truly has shown glimpses compared to guys like Levi I think Josh Pascal has definitely shown more and I do think that he's a guy that can really show out especially with Terrell Williams in there so I'm excited to see what he can do I think he's a guy that create a lot of problems with just his speed compared to some of the guards and centers in the NFL he certified supply chain professional says Levi was Chris Sims number one defensive tackle coming out oh who does who does Chris Sims do a show with Mike Flor y mikor it's not Chris Sim's fault it's not Chris Sim's fault Mike floral yeah I like hey M Wingull has you know he's he's gonna be that well depending on what happens with the LI I assume they bring him back but even so even if there's an injury he's someone that can definitely yeah be a three tech for you I mean he's got pass rush upside he could play against the run but honestly I shame on me for not even mentioning Josh Pascal that's that's a great point he's the guy that you put back there because of how well he plays against the run but also I think Josh has a lot more to give when rushing the passer Bo I I think Josh Pascal should give you this year he should give you four to five sacks easily if he doesn't I'm worried I am second round pick at that point you're thinking it's probably a bust I think event like this is the year it's like hey this is like do you want to be in the NFL or not go out there and produce or you're probably not going to be in the NFL after this year like it's almost as simple as that like you need something readers out for a little bit all right some guys have to step like you're going to have to step up a a second round pick and someone's going to have to I'm I'm actually I'll wait for this because I know we're talking we might be talking some of this later so I'm gonna I'm gonna hold off on that I have another player so I'll wait all right oh another player that could that could play uh what three tag or what do you think on the defensive line Matthew bats no shout out to thought about Matthew bets yeah they do I maybe maybe Matthew bets can play anywhere you like him maybe you know Matthew's just he's just different maybe you can drop him into pass coverage apparently he can get back there in the zone put his hands on very versatile people good uh coach walk says how long is reader out for I I there's not like a a specific time frame I I I just you know Jeff rizen talking about maybe brck playing early on I I can I can see a scenario where he's out the first game or two because of him still recovering I don't think it'll be much longer than that and he could play the first game of the season is it confirmed that he's even out that long like is there a chance to anyways that he ends up I think it's pretty like at least from what I've heard from Dan speaking it's like pretty common knowledge at least that he's gonna miss most of training camp yeah the thing is with DJ reader a veteran who's been able to been piece piece multiple schemes and you know he's going to have his head in the Playbook while he's out he's going to be out there at training camp maybe not participating but he's definitely going to be trying to get everything that trell Williams wants him to do as well as Aaron Glenn so he's a guy that he can probably put in there relatively soon when he's ready to go even though he hasn't played with this team so I could see him to J point being out week one or two but I could also see him just being ready week one if he's good by the end of Camp I would want to push it though because DJ reader and I've said it multiple times and I know you guys agree DJ reader in the playoffs is a much different DJ reader than in the regular season he's not bad in the regular season but in the playoffs if you watch those Cincinnati bangal runs like they the defense as far as what Logan Wilson and Trey Hendrickson were doing it was because DJ reer was causing a mess in the middle of that offensive line so that's where he needs to be healthy so if he's got to sit out one or two weeks to avoid that quad injury sneaking back up on him then please do it yeah he's a player that especially just the Lions as a in general like you nailed it he's a player you you want in the postseason the Lions you're not really I mean yeah you you want to start off and play well early but if if you don't have DJ I mean you have one of the best rosters in the NFL you you should be able to still win the game I mean they didn't have him last year they had Bonito Jones and they beat the Rams yeah I'm not too worried if DJ reader out I think it's like having DJ reader just makes you that much better inside like it just helps you out like you were able to do with Bonito I think there's guys that you have guys on this roster that are are you know you you need to step up and it's like eventually they're going to have to and you've been waiting for it so I think it it actually gives guys opportunities you and what it will do as well as we're just because we're on the Point like with DJ being out like that's obviously going to affect the Run game so I think we'll see a lot more three like especially against the Rams and the Buccaneers week one and two you're going to see a lot of those three safety sets with Kirby iffy and Brian Branch all out there because you can keep one of them in the box and two of them for coverage so I think that's going to be a lot of that the first two weeks without DJ reader yeah if leim McNeil plays as well as we all expect him to this season then I mean especially that first game yeah you're not gonna have DJ but I mean we're expecting big things out of a and I think Frank kind of talked about that a little bit there with just his potential I mean he's a guy that should get you anywhere from six to eight sacks this season potentially more I don't know if he'll be a double digit sack guy but he he should get you six a sacks easily I would contract year not that you know players are going to say it doesn't matter it always matters
