3 Must Know's From the Prophet's 100th birthday celebration!

I'm so excited to share this with you today so we just had a worldwide celebration 100th birthday party for the prophet president Russell M Nelson and there is a talk in general conference from years ago that I believe totally highlights the value and importance of a prophet and is such a tribute in so many ways almost prophetically for who Russell M Nelson chose to be we know that when we when we read in the Old Testament we read in Amos 3:7 that the Lord God will do nothing sa he will reveal his secret to His prophets and in the Old Testament there are so many valuable individuals who gave up their lives what they probably would have liked to have been doing and instead served the Lord in really tough ways you could probably think of just a variety of individuals had to deeply deeply sacrifice so I just want to share with you as we think about Jesus Christ and how he wants to help us and how he calls prophets to communicate with us think of the power the significance the value the love that that demonstrates so I just want to share with you this that I found from so long ago that I think is a perfect in so many surprising ways tribute to the prophet today russem Nelson and I hope that you were able to watch that significant celebration I'll put the link for that in the description box below but let me share my screen this is so cool and then I want to share three must REM members must REM remembers from what president Nelson shared that are really significant for all of us so let me share the screen now okay so this was shared in general conference in 1984 and it's called the sure sound of the trumpet by Elder abaa who is of the first quum of the 70 and I just want to read a few Snippets be thinking about the prophet how the Lord uses prophets to guide his people so many good things in here but really it is such a significant tribute to the prophet of today Russ M Nelson in who he has chosen to be so Elder abraa says this a few years ago I found myself in a small City Park which was covered with trees and adorned with monuments a plaza typical of many found throughout Argentina I was watching a sculptor as he used a hammer and chisel now think of that process we're chiseling Pieces away a hammer and chisel to put the finishing touches on his project his artwork portrayed a mother holding a Child In Her Arms the artist was working to perfect the hands of the mother think of that chipping away process which were fashioned of marble and the results appeared to me to be masterful stroke Strokes in the sculptor's own style as I stood there fascinated eager to grasp knowledge of the artist's skills a Sho shine boy passing by stopped and stood by me after attentively watching the progress of the final touches for a few moments the industrious young boy turned to me in an amazement asked sir tell me why is he breaking it now think of those chipping away pieces the youth's naive and unexpected query gave me a chance to contemplate the examples which we constantly set the Impressions we give by our actions and our Behavior it made me realize how extremely important our examples can be as is the force or weakness with which we convey our personal convictions in our everyday life I hope that you had an opportunity and if not you still can do it to watch this celebration of the prophet's 100 birthday but then thinking of this conference talk so Elder abraa continues the words of Paul came to my mind for if the trumpet give an uncertain sound who shall prepare himself to the battle according to the radius of our activity or within our sphere of responsibility each one of us influences a certain number of God's Sons and Daughters our attitudes and actions and words can Cony messages to others which in some way affect their lives either positively or negatively think of President Nelson's words even before he was set apart to be the prophet but especially since becoming Prophet how certain a sound he has provided for us then Elder abraa continues our actions are the results of our ignorance or the fruits of our knowledge be thinking a present Nelson the results of our disbelief or of the testimony which we possess we cannot escape from ourselves or from that which we hold in our hearts we become that which we pursue the example which we set and the life we live are a reflection of all that we truly are oh my goodness now that I have found this I am going back and rewatching just to savor the truth of what Elder abaa is saying here as Manifest in the prophet's life okay so just a little bit more thinking of how much president Nelson Has pled with us that in coming days it will be it will not be possible to Sur spiritually survive I'm getting all tongue tied without the guiding directing constant influence of the Holy Spirit think of President Nelson's words for us and then a few more quotes the convictions which we treasure in our hearts are more important than our very lives if these or those convictions and treasures are the results of a fervent testimony one received through Revelation they give us the kind of Courage which allows us to face the trials of life with the assurance that our Father in heaven will approve our actions regardless of the circumstances which surround us the ignorance of many or the hardship of the trials and I've been thinking about how in heaven I just firmly believe that there will be celebration for each of us like there has been this celebration for the prophet of the world celebrations for each of us living in this way which Elder abraa is speaking the convictions which we treasure in our hearts are more important than our very lives if those convictions and treasures are the results of a fervent testimony one received through revelation we can all have the same kind of celebration in heaven at the end of our Lives by doing and following the path that President Nelson Has demonstrated of one who loves the Lord completely and who has sought to follow Jesus Christ in every realm and aspect of his life Elder abaa in the world today there are millions of people who are ready to do what seems possible but the prize is for those who are ready to do what seems impossible and it's possible for all of us to do the impossible with Jesus Christ as I sat there and listened to president Nelson's accomplishments in so many different Realms of his lives one could sit there and maybe feel jealous or one can sit there and really think that that kind of quality of life is possible for all of us and one day we may all have a celebration in heaven at the end of our mortal lives now I don't know when presentent Nelson's going to pass on but it was exciting to see his 100th birthday being celebrated with what he has sought and what the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do so a few more quotes from Elder abraa this kind of determination an exemplary way of life is not reserved for only a small minority as some would believe but rather it should be the constant attitude of those who desire to follow the Lord's counsil in order to attain the promised blessings see this can be a celebration for all of us by proving and living and being with the Lord in every way that we possibly can in our own unique circumstances we don't need to we don't need to copy president Nelson but we can live with that same love of the Lord and then the quotation be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a Crown of Life and then just a couple of things that I just I just had to share three must remembers from president Nelson's celebration Elder abaa is starting to close he says in the building of Eternal families we need more models this is you we need more guiding lights this this is you with your unique skills your unique love of the lord your unique way of showing kindness and goodness to others so he says we need more models we need more guiding lights and certainly we need fewer excuse makers and fewer Advocates of Darkness it is one thing to talk about the gospel but it is quite another to live it it is one thing to preach about Christ but it is another to follow in his footsteps and then here is the call from the Lord himself verily I say unto you all all we can all be part of this arise and shine forth that thy light may be a standard for the Nations and then Elder abraa says we cannot fail in that trust because our Savior Jesus Christ is shown Us by example qu behold I am the light I have set an example for you end quote from the scriptures we know the goal Elder abraa says we have the example in Jesus Christ but also our Prophet now let us put forth the effort and make the decision to follow in that path so I found this and I was so excited to share this with you because it is the example of President Nelson and when we read in Amos 3:7 that God will do nothing but share his secret and I'm paraphrasing with his servants the prophets so I made I made a little I don't know if you can even see it these are all the notes that I took from the 100th or the celebration for the 100th birthday and the beginning parts of the notes are just all of these amazing experiences and development in areas of expertise that President Nelson has done and then I made notes of all of these different people who were commenting on his life you just have to go watch it if you haven't yet been able to see it and what people have learned from him but the three must knows that three must remembers that for me were the three I need to remember this the first is Devotion to God president Nelson talked about Devotion to God and he happened to mention that there were three times where paraphrasing here but he should have died earlier but he didn't that for some reason the Lord has kept him here to continue the example so Devotion to God must remember that I so want to make sure I remember that Devotion to God the second must remember for me is God has a plan for his children and Central to that plan is the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ with his unfailing love there is nothing that you might have done or any of your loved ones might have done that could cause the savior to reject you or to reject his love for you nothing you are needed you are wanted you are crucial and your experiences on this life can bring you to this same kind of of excelling so that at the end of your experience here on the earth you can have the same kind of celebration for your sacrifices and things that you have done so that was the second for me the third must remember for me is that life passes quickly life passes quickly and as president Nelson then said let God Prevail what a witness from a prophet when he's had the death of his wife and other death of deaths of loved ones and having nearly died himself on several different occasions and then one of the times we've learned from a prior talk that he had shared in general conference a surgeon heaving and throwing um an instrument whatever it's called when he was doing surgery and it landed right in president Nelson's arm and president Nelson said he had determined that in his operating rooms long time ago never would there be that kind of a display of anger there's so many things that are just exciting for me as we study the life of President Nelson who is teaching us to love Jesus Christ so yes the third one that President Nelson has learned through hard situations is simply that life passes quickly so let God Prevail and I have experienced that in my own life that every time that I have been in a tough situation I don't know what to do and a scripture comes to mind and I trust the teaching of that scripture rather than what I was thinking I would do or what I wanted to do or what might have felt good to do but wasn't right every time when I have let God's teachings Prevail in my life I have been so so grateful so as president Nelson closed with his remarks at the end after sharing those three things that I thought were were so important he admonished us he invited us to stay on the path to prepare to live with the Lord again and then he pronounced a blessing upon each one of us so I have a question for you what stood out to you as you watched the celebration as you learned as you maybe felt the spirit move in your life what determinations did you decide that you want to do in your life because I know and from the scriptures and from what I had read earlier from Elder abaa we all this is for us all we all can have that kind of Celebration when we have reached what the Lord considers the end of a life and we move on to Heaven whenever that might be for president Nelson but we move on to heaven we can have the same kind of Celebration so I invite you I'll have the link in amazing life or I can get busy and make sure that I too am doing the things that President Nelson as the Lord's Prophet has invited me to do which is to love the Lord with all my heart and then to
