well he's been backstage all night now it's finally time to bring him out who's ready to see the next Bachelor all right here he is ladies and gentlemen your next leading man Grant Ellis let go [Applause] well congrats man thank you so much it's great seeing you you look sharp how does it feel to be the next Bachelor it feels great I'm so excited uh I can't wait to embark on this journey um yeah it's it's all so surreal to me and and I'm just I'm just happy I'm grateful what are your friends and family saying what's the response been that you've gotten since you got announced oh man uh my friends are happy my mom is super happy my dad is happy my sister's happy everybody's excited for me everybody's excited for me to find my future wife sounds like there's a lot of Happiness going on right now a lot of Happiness listen I get it man your life must be going a mile a minute right now and I know bachelor Nation cannot wait for you to embark on your own Journey to Find love but first let's take a look back at how you got here let's do it hello I got something for you ready it's nice to meet you my name is Grant so nice we make all these guys so jealous cuz at the end of this show we change your name to Mrs ell I'm feeling Sparks Jen is looking fire came here to find a genuine connection with somebody it could be a good team no one to punch we could be a good team and I feel like me and Jen are really going to get along how beautiful is this it's so beautiful Grant is very much my type he's tall he's handsome he's charming and funny he brings that manly energy Jen Ellis that's a nice name right Jen Jen Ellis okay what what about you taking my last name Grant Tran Grant Tran I like that that spark is there and I can be myself with him and I love that feeling I'm not perfect I have bad days and I'm not perfect you're not perfect but that's when you know that it's love is when you accept somebody for Perfection like you don't have to be perfect you know what I'm I'm going rock with you thank you thank you I feel great because the connection I have with Jen has been growing and I could see myself falling for her grant for you except Rose of course I see somebody that I could have a life with I genuinely think that I'm falling in love with Jen it's just scary bro what getting feelings yeah like what makes somebody fall in love you know don't tell me I was crying I keep between me and you now I know at least for me it's different for everybody so I I just want you to know that I am falling in love with you and I've only felt like this once before in my life and I see a future in you I'm talking a lot can I get a kiss I was on top of the world earlier I'm on top of the moon now so once I go there like I'm all in I am falling in love with her I wish we could just cut to the end you know what I'm saying Jonathan I feel disappointed um I'm hurt I don't know man I'm confused you know I really had feelings for Jen you're welcome it hurts not being loved back I want a family you know I want I want a wife I want kids I want to give everything to somebody and I want them to give everything to me and return and through hell high water I'm to I'm going to find my happiness and I'm not going to stop until I [Music] do emotional roller coaster for sure yeah looking back at that um being able to develop feelings for somebody in such a short amount of time and then being genuine and real is something that I didn't I didn't expect going into this what was it about Jen that that had you falling in love with her was there a moment that you realized that this was something real yeah I really appreciated Jen's ability to um interact with me and keep the conversation light and happy and also on our 101 date when we uh we had a talk and I talked about my father and just I felt like we really related um to each other in that aspect and that's the emotional connection that I was looking for and really took me over the edge and ultimately you know maybe fall in love with you yeah I I think one of the things I'll always remember was I think that night in Auckland when you were realizing that you were falling in love with her and you could see it on your face right uh something about me is I do wear my emotions on my sleeve so if I'm happy you're going to know if I'm angry you're going to know and if I'm in love with you you're going to know and I'm going to tell you so that's something that I'm I'm going to carry with me well I know for certain that there are a lot of women out there that are really excited to get the opportunity to date you in fact since you were announced as the next Bachelor there have been over 10,000 new women apped to be on the show oh man and that number every day is going up and it's growing so what is it that you're looking for a kind soul somebody who's genuine somebody who were able to either through good or bad were able to sit down and talk about things you know ultimately I know it's so cliche but Beauty Fades and I'm looking for what's in here so somebody that's going to treat other people well and that we could ultimately Build Together a bond that's never going to fade what does uh preseason training for The Bachelor look like for you developing my emotional intelligence uh that's something I'm definitely going to do uh continue to build that and ultimately yeah also doing like 100 push-ups a day you know get used to showering on camera okay lots of soap lots of soap lots of Suds yeah I got it I got Bachelor Nation loves a good lather I I want to open it up to the panel real quick hem I'll ask you what do you think when he got named the new Bachelor what was going through your mind I was a static you guys are getting the best Bachelor possible this guy's been a mentor for me he listens to me with my emotions too cuz you know I wear my heart on my sleeves and he's always that ear that I can always go to and honestly he's a man of God too so he's helped me find God through him as well so I love you to death man having somebody come into this you know he's a second person of color coming into this and there's not somebody I can imagine representing bachor nation and representing a person of color better than Grant he's going to do an absolutely amazing job and I can't wait to see who he picks I appreciate well listen Grant
