last year Malcolm Rodriguez caught not only the NFL by storm but everybody in cowboy country as we have a few Cowboys getting set right now to make their mark on the NFL we'll take a look back at some of the players that are in right now what kind of production they could potentially have this coming season as well as some current Cowboys on the roster that have a good good shot we'll check in with some baseball Regional Championship action as well with our buddies Trent Jason you are a locked on Oklahoma State your daily podcast on the Oklahoma State Cowboys part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day [Music] howdy y'all and hello all welcome back to locked on Oklahoma State your daily stop for all things cowboy and cowgirl related my name is Cody Stovall I want to thank you kindly for stopping by to make this your first listen here in Oklahoma State obviously we're going live today it is the Sherman schnitzel Sunday what's up fellas how we feeling today how we doing pretty good day to be an OSU fan that's for sure absolutely it is and we are going to make sure to touch on some of the softball some of the baseball as we kind of you know get a little bit deeper off into it but what typically always drives the bus is football and last year at this point in time right the conversation was how many players could we potentially have even remotely make a roster and then you have Malcolm Rodriguez but via Hard Knocks kind of get himself out there a little bit not only because of his play but what the coaches were saying about him and then he has this miraculous season I do find it slightly interesting that they just drafted somebody so high to play that position I don't know if that's indicative of maybe what they think or don't think of Malcolm Rodriguez or maybe more of uh they don't know if they trust Alex angeloni what do you guys uh think about Rodriguez in year two and should he have any concerns about the linebacker they just drafted early not at all they're not they didn't draft to replace Rodriguez he's I mean after last year having such a great season and they have a lot of a lot of Praise foreign that they drafted um drafted same position again no it's not absolutely not Malcolm Rodriguez is on such a good uh deal for them financially I just looked up uh angeloni's uh he just signed a four-year contract I mean it's not terrible it's a little over three million but Malcolm's gonna be making somewhere around the rookie minimum his uh output was was such last year to where he can step right in and be a starter um he's definitely The Heir Apparent there there in Detroit now what are you guys Rudolph being stuck like Chuck in Pittsburgh I mean I hate it I can't stand it but he did just sign a new contract which I find very very very interesting after getting shafted like he did I'd assumed he'd want it out of Dodge nothing about that new contract oh he's got the best job in the world dude he gets to stand over there and hold a clipboard go to practice every day play the game that he loves to play make millions of dollars doing it and doesn't have to worry about Jack SWAT dude that's the crazy thing about it is we all as fans were like no you know big mistake but maybe that's exactly what he wants you know or maybe you know uh president and coaching staff talked to him and told him hey like you know we didn't think any picker would have the year that he did uh maybe you know you work hard we're gonna see about changing a quarterback but who knows it's all up in the air Jason could be 100 right he could just be comfortable there being the backup quarterback getting paid millions of dollars and not hurting his body I mean hey who's the most popular player on any roster High School College professional who's the most popular player the most beloved player backup quarterback typically the the guy he's better than Kenny Pickett I mean but I understand Kenny Pickett being the hometown guy him being in Pittsburgh from pitt played for pit the whole nine yards it's just too good of a story to pass well I don't think Mason's ever really going to get a shot there and not to say that Kenny Pickett is Dan Marino because I'm obviously not saying that but the Rooney family kind of learned there less than the last time a kid from pitt was really good at that position and they didn't draft him he turned out to be Dan Marino and I think they kicked herself in the hassle off for not making that pitch so instead of having some revisionist history I think they went ahead and made the pick and they want him rightfully snow they want him to be the guy he's the hometown kid what better story than had the hometown kid played High School there played collegiately there to come lead you to a Super Bowl that's the the Cinderella dream scenario Mason Rudolph is definitely one of the best 32 quarterbacks on the planet in my opinion but I think he's comfortable I think he realized he's gotten he's got a little bit of a taste to start in the NFL when Big Ben was injured or this that or the third but I think he he realized that hey this is this is a gravy job I can make some connections set my family up financially for the rest of our lives and when I'm done standing on the sideline and I don't want to play football anymore I'm going to coaching or whatever I want to do or maybe the miles Garrett uh helmet to the Head made him realize you know what I'm cool with being a backup quarterback maybe so too much okay well somebody else just signed another contract and Justice Hill Justice Hills been kind of lingering in that third fourth spot but the Ravens have been so absolutely loaded at running back for what three four years then he hasn't got a lot of playing time but you can see kind of reminiscent of Ken Hunter right you remember the Niners they got kennel on her in the game quite often they never expected him to be the guy but they got him a lot of carries because of what he provides Justice Hills kind of been that for the Ravens last year finally gets his opportunity to start and I think it was just what third carry of the game and he tears his ACL but they they gave him another contract so they clearly clearly believe in him I think they're comfortable with him being like a running back to in my opinion I love Justice Hill but I don't think he's a running back one in the league I think he's solid second or third string option for you know the Ravens seem like they don't have the best of luck with running back staying healthy so you know Justice Hill can definitely get in the game and get you some some clutch yardage that you need but is he running back one I don't believe so and I'm not sure what his contract was but I'm sure it wasn't anywhere like anywhere close to what a rb1 would be making in the league so I'm sure they're just comfortable with him being the backup I'm sure they like him um they obviously do if they want to keep him but yeah I think he's definitely running back to running back three just depending on uh how healthy their guys are there's a there's another running back from our pass that I would compare him to more more like body wise more more like running style that'd be Tatum Bell he had a very decent career in Denver he was never he started several games and everybody was never the number one guy over those over those Seasons um one season one season yeah and that was one year of 1100 yards and that was dude and that was basically due to injury um but I think I think that uh justice could come in in a peach if they need him to um injury-wise contract disputes whatever whatever and player running back one time but I just don't know if it's body type would allow him to do that year in and year out and talent he's got the talent but I just don't know if he's big enough to do that well I think um somebody Tatum's a dishes so maybe maybe what about a tuba Hubbard Cuba Hubbard is rb1 in the NFL right or is he right on that line does he get the benefit of being the guy behind Christian McCaffrey for so long well I think he played for a team that was that was any better than the Carolina Panthers he may be the second string guy who knows she was in a lot of talent yeah they were switching him out between running back one and running back two and then he got hurt at the end of the season so I don't know chuba I think has a lot of potential to be really good at just you know it really kind of depends on how far the Panthers want to go um especially with their offense they obviously had the number one pick this year so with Bryce young do I think Bryce young was the best quarterback in the draft no I don't um so I don't I mean it's going to be interesting to see what happens with the Panthers this year and we'll see well you know we'll stick with the same vein of running back right because I think this season is going to be the year that you see Oklahoma State kind of get back to some of those Jalen Warren Chupa Hubbard style of numbers so I kind of just slipped up there and gave it away Jalen Warren man I when they had Mason Rudolph James Washington and Jaylen Warren on the roster at the same time I was like oh great I'm a die hard Steelers fan it didn't last long okay didn't do much there but Jalen Morin carved out not only a nice role for himself last season did Jalen Warren put himself in a position to at least push Naji for one carry this this year I mean first and foremost shout out Jalen Warren that guy last year took reps away from Naji Harris um who was the top prospect in the draft and so kudos to Jalen he just kept his head down and he kept hustling when he got his chance man he made sure he made the most of it so we go through him I think that's another scenario where they're going to use him probably more this year than they did last year so we'll see the thing about the running back position in the NFL is it just got such a short shelf life that I think the average running back in the NFL maybe plays like three or four years and they're done I mean it's very rare for guys like Barry uh Eric Dickerson those guys you know uh Campbell those guys that had very long careers Jerome Davis it's very rare for guys like that's why they're great um this is such a finicky thing nausea hairs to get dinged up they got Jalen Warren right there if I can get him on the feet Jalen work go out have a stellar season get him a big paycheck and go somewhere like you know the Vikings or the Seahawks somebody who needs a running back and go make a Payday and then kind of prove that he's not really a starting running back but at least he got a Payday you know what I mean because that that shelf life is so short in the NFL for these guys just go get do what you can do and go get paid that's the one position and NFL that I would not want to play as a running back that that and what Malcolm plays inside linebacker those animals I I get what you're saying because I do feel like we got robbed of seeing some more Chris Carson I still think Chris Carson had a few more big time years in them if he doesn't have that serious neck injury oh yeah he was before he uh got hurt he was one of the top fantasy running backs yeah he was having a great he was having a great I mean he's in a good system too he was in a system like you know think about Marshawn Lynch did and I'm not trying to compare Chris Carson Marshawn Lynch but just thank you stimula running style I'd say it's fair sure I don't know if you have that kind of talent but of course very talented I mean I use the head down like power power yardage kind of guy like he wasn't just like we shot just like Rashad Penny I mean he wasn't afraid to run somebody over right dream scenario for him I mean if he would have went anywhere else maybe Chris Carson doesn't get on the map like he did but just sucks that he got hurt because and that's you were talking the other day about unsung like uh unheralded Oklahoma State football players Chris Chris Carson may be one of those guys that nobody really thinks about that played at Oklahoma State but he was neatly very good and he was well another person that for the longest time didn't really get associated with Oklahoma State we'll get to because I know I'm a Trent may or may not have a jersey on for this particular individual but since we're staying in the same breath of running backs I guess technically we could have the Tyreek Hill conversation about running back since he did play running back at Oklahoma State University so who we have on the roster right now do you think either of you that we get Ollie and either Jaden or Elijah in the NFL oh I think Ollie Gordon's a no-brainer in the NFL body type the way he runs the system that we're going to run with in the system that he's already been in Oklahoma State's proven to put running backs into the NFL and with his body type and just how physical and what a specimen he is he's gonna get a chance to play in the NFL he's gonna have to prove to those guys that he can't play I think you know I've said it for months now uh Jaden Nixon I think he has a lot of talent just kind of depends on how he utilize him and that's one thing bringing up Tyreek hill we didn't utilize him the correct way while he was at Oklahoma State we could have used him in so many more scenarios um that we didn't so I I agree with Jason Ali Gordon he already kind of has the build of a power running back meant to be in the NFL I don't know enough about Mitchell the Michigan State transfer to know yet I've watched a little bit on him but I'm not 100 sure on him so I don't know too much about him hang on I gotta I gotta disagree with you a little bit about Tyree kill man he was Mr Everything returned pawns we put him out wide we put him in the plot we handed him the football we gave him reverses like what else do you want to let him take snaps at quarterback you want to let him play center I mean I don't know what we were gonna I think I think what Trent's getting at is we let him play running back instead of putting him where he was going to end up being naturally and that's the same thing Alabama and Texas they wanted Tyreek Hill but they wanted to play wide receiver we were the only school that told him we could he could come play running back and play track all the same time okay that's cool maybe that's true but weren't a lot of Oklahoma State fans pissed off that we let uh Braylon walk out the door because we promised team smash it running back and we didn't give them to him and then he walked out the door like if you if you tell a kid like you're gonna come play this that or the third and they prove that you they can do that which I think Tyreek Hill was very successful in in the college level and what it did I mean he got drafted pretty high and he's one of the best players in the NFL so apparently they knew something was going on with the guy I think they used him just right I mean I mean I mean I will say the one game where we I think that we did everything we could with Tyreek Hill was against Florida State 100 we're probably using a little too much against Florida State um but yeah for the rest of the season maybe teams just knew who Tyree kill was and knew what he was about I mean he was the number one Community College uh Prospect out of Garden City in Kansas so maybe so I just feel like you know watching him in the NFL and see I didn't know that we had uh told him he could play running back that's why he came to Oklahoma State I was not aware of that so which I don't know why he would want to play tailback like we just talked about the shelf life so short for an NFL running back it's so hard on your body like receivers make more money than they do on their contracts like I don't understand why he would even be interested in playing tailback I don't know yeah I don't know either but it worked out well in our favor but while we're talking about Tyree kill and I asked other Oklahoma State fans this this in Oklahoma state with how everything what happened with Tyreek Hill can Oklahoma state claim Tyreek Hill yeah I think so I know I don't really claim him but that's just personal I mean he kind of talked I kind of took that that he was talking trash about the program I mean he didn't really have a whole lot of good things to say well he was on the podcast with uh Keaton Hargett okay State probs too oh okay when the Miami Dolphins and the Chiefs play on Monday night football and they introduced him he would say something like something funny he wouldn't even say his college he would just say something funny right he was he wasn't repping the Cowboys yeah some OSU fans like who aren't you know super aware of the situation or what happened afterwards they only know what happened while he was at OSU so they don't hate him but they don't know the backstory or anything oh I I don't hate by any stretch the imagination I think Gundy handled it the right way I think Tyreek handled it the right way um I don't know it's kind of like the uh oh uh back demo what's his name quarterback played for Alabama I know you what's his name Jalen hurts yeah kind of like the jalenhurst feel like we moved on from him he moved on from us like Alabama can't in my opinion Alabama really can't claim Jalen hurts to let him walk out the door we let Tyreek walk out the door so I don't know I just feel different about that all right so let's shift a little bit here um this week the focus is going to be on defense but before we get there let's talk a little bit of wide receiver does Braden Johnson do you guys feel like he has a legitimate opportunity to end up on the 53 or at least practice squad for the bills yeah for sure I definitely do but I I think he has a lot of raw potential but he also you know in my opinion dropped some catches he shouldn't so it really just kind of depends on how he practices I think he's in a great situation having one of the best quarterbacks in the league throwing so I mean if if he can do what I know he can do he shouldn't have an issue making it but like I said there's other guys too that OSU wide receivers that I thought would make the 53-man roster that didn't make it in the past so I mean he's got the talent too it just depends on the situational stuff like can you pick up the Playbook will the quarterbacks on the roster look his way when he gets reps that has a lot to do with it if you get if you're getting reps as a second third fourth string guy and you're not getting a lot of balls thrown to you in those reps you gotta get put to the Wayside so situational stuff to me he's got the talent too I don't have like his stats in front of me like what he runs in the 40 and blase blase but I would say he has the talent to play in the NFL well even you know if he makes the 53-man the Buffs have have a pretty uh the bills I'm sorry they have a pretty deep wide receiver core so I mean whether he makes it or not he's probably not going to get a whole lot of playing time but you know I can use Kansas city wide receivers that are rookies for example that didn't get much playing time this year but they came in at clutch situations and special teams special team stuff too like Pawn return kickoff I mean that's where that's where Terrell Davis came from he was on he was on kickoff and he made a heck of a play and got the eye of the coaches and the rest is history so special teams is where guys like that can really make their hay in the NFL for sure reminds me a lot of the L.D Brown situation right he's gonna have to do something fairly miraculous the Jets really really liked L.D brown right they were trying to give him a way to work himself into special teams this didn't quite work out I see the same things I read something the other day that the bills had him down at an official like 439 441 some [ __ ] like that yeah well if Al Davis was still alive he would definitely go signing just because of the speed so I mean I know that uh kind of like LD Brown they would like for him to carve out a role I just don't see it um I don't know now somebody from this most recent class that I do not only think will make a 53-man roster but I think we'll have a very long career in the NFL and that is Matt himbro you guys so his bench reps if he would have participated with I think it was linebackers would have put him at like 11th for for linebackers or something like that he would have been like third or fourth for his 40 uh group of linebackers there's a bunch of categories where he would have tested top 15 at the combine as like a linebacker or something like that which was super impressive and you're already seeing it there with the Cardinals they love him they know they got a steal they're not going to let him go anytime soon he's probably gonna be not only in NFL for a long time but probably what are they going to play him at though Long Snapper where else will they plan well I'm just saying like is that what they plan on doing with him yeah then that's fine I mean they got these automatically consistent yeah yeah oh yeah I mean Gandhi's gundy's been on record saying he's probably one of the best uh players at any position for his position that he's ever coached stupid athletic stupid athletic well okay let's we get to shift around a little bit here Trent we were talking a little bit earlier what do you think about uh Miami and Tyreke hooked up with Emmanuel agba what do I think about like Tyreke leaving the Chiefs getting traded from the Chiefs to the Dolphins or what do I think of the Dolphins in general like this upcoming season I mean however you want to approach it the world is your oyster here how do you feel when they when they let them go we'll start there I look at us and it sucks because you know Tyree playing at OSU I was a big fan of Tyrique and like I said this would be one of the best wide receivers in the league am I mad at him no because he was wanting a big payday that Kansas City didn't want to give him and I understand you know NFL is not like the NBA where you're making a ludicrous amount of money um you're trying to get money why it's good why you're you know you're on the hot list for being one of the best players in the league so am I mad at him for you know wanting to be traded since we weren't going to pay him no it sucked at first but you know I'm happy that you guys hated that he wanted and I feel bad for him than I had to be Miami but I mean the dude's living his best life he's living in Miami um making a crap ton of money the Dolphins are you know they have potential to be a really good team and the uh AFC so you know I mean we'll see what they can do this year we get them in uh Kansas City gets them in Germany this year so that'll be fun you know I'm German so that's super cool they're playing in Germany one of my good friends is a big uh Miami Dolphins fan so we got a nice little bet on the game so I I think the Dolphins have potential um you know you just got to go out there and form can you got to go out there and perform I'm just glad that he hasn't played for the Chiefs anymore second halfway room for the guy well Jason's only happy because his Broncos have been getting another cheese for quite some time now so that's why um you're so young these five-year Snippets that you Chiefs have been good as a blip in the NFL history bro it's all right we let Tyreke walk and we got we're gonna keep winning so you mentioned Al Davis right and his uh affinity for for Speed I know Prince Young Al Davis used to own the on the Raiders I know Trent's pretty young I just want to make sure he's up to speed here yeah well did you all recognize last year we had Tyron Johnson Marcel aitman Dylan Stoner Chris Lacy all on the Raiders roster yep Tyrone Billy Johnson has moved around so much I feel like which is crazy to me I don't know why because you know when he was playing for the Chargers he wouldn't I felt like you know that was going to be his spot he was gonna he was going to stick there and then they're like no and then he got he didn't they let him go or he got traded to what was it like was it was it the Las Vegas Raiders or didn't he get traded to like yeah he went back to the Raiders I thought he went to like Jacksonville or somewhere uh he did make a random stop in between but maybe that's what it was but yeah that guy I felt like man if he would have stayed at Oklahoma State for one more year he could have been I felt like been a high draft pick but um what do we think of uh James Washington's new contract over there in knowledge I'm happy for him man I think James Washington she's one of those players man he just he just needs a place to believe in him and I feel like he last year he could have really showed out for Dallas um just got hurt sucks you know he really I think he really wanted to be in Dallas um being from Texas so I really hope it works out for him because that guy is he he's a great he's a great player I thought he got I thought he went to was it I thought it was he signed with the Giants James Washington am I thinking of someone else Google it up yeah I swear I thought it was the giant I thought it was the same maybe it was the Saints maybe I'm thinking of someone else well since we're we're staying in there yeah this is interesting okay man I just think that dude is assault the Earth kind of guy and he is one of the he's one of those type of dudes in the NFL that's got so much talent and he just got a raw deal where he was at and he gets injured when he gets to his new place that's the kind of guy that can have a season to be NFL combat Player of the Year well guys let's face it Big Ben hated both of them like that did not help either of their careers Big Ben yeah Big Ben openly publicly he disliked both of them and didn't really want either of them in Pittsburgh so right that's part of the reason I'm salty about the Mason Rudolph thing is I just feel like you know he hasn't got a fair Shake neither did the James for the most part I'm glad James is gone right sucks that he dealt with so many injuries last year this is his year to finding proof that he's a legitimate Bonafide NFL level caliber wide receiver what do we think about Tay Martin does he stay on the practice squad water or do you think that he has the ability to climb the depth chart there and he was he was really good at Oklahoma State but I didn't I just didn't really see it translating to the NFL I agree that's too many drops yeah too many drops um I mean there's there's a reason why it kind of bounced around you know what I mean so a lot of talent um he's just gone he's not overly to me on on film he doesn't look overly fast right um it doesn't seem like his hands are phenomenal so he could probably get picked up by somebody in the mid-season Just Bounce Around some practice squads and if somebody has an injury or whatnot needs to fill a slot for special teams receiver yeah reminds me a little bit of uh Marcel we're still living yeah you missed that guy dude I'll never I think about that catching that against Texas Tech down we locked it up to him all the time he was a clutch college wide receiver and there's a lot of wide receivers that are great in college they just don't Translate I think it's a prime example I think Leon Johnson the third is going to give us a lot of Martial Aikman flashbacks this year as especially as a Red Zone threat I'm so rooting for that kid I hope he can play so bad I'm so would that not be cool if he was the Seal of the transfer season oh my goodness I'm so rooting for that guy yep yeah I think I think he's gonna have a really good year now I don't know how much of a role he's going to be able to carve out because we're pretty loaded not depth wise bright necessarily but talent wise a wide receiver so we'll we'll see how it shakes out for him it will be interesting for sure but if he can catch some big balls in in uh in crucial moments though he can carve his stuff out you know defensively Oklahoma State's kind of come on recently a lot of factors tie into that obviously the Jim Knowles effect is part of the gig but y'all remember a couple years ago rodeos ones was the Giants right and gangbusters kind of like what Christian Holmes was able to do this last season was Washington rodeos Williams became a starter like almost instantaneously he was great now very well another massive injury missed 90 percent of last season this year I know the Giants are pretty high on them but I also know they kind of tried to bolster the backing a little bit he was a surprise that he made it as high up as he did and got as much playing time as he did do y'all see another rebound or is he gonna fall back into that trade flowers back up somewhere else type of role Jason man I know you disagree with me a lot on the kind of talent that we that we recruited Oklahoma State I know that people get so upset pissed off whatever you want to call it that we can't recruit the high level four star five star guys our coaches do a very good job in Stillwater I believe and coaching these kids up and getting them ready for the next level do I believe a lot of these guys can play in the NFL 100 percent is their talent level can they run fast enough can they are they strong enough can they do all the metrics to get an NFL coach or physician coach to look at them probably not is he a step slower than the guy in front of him probably so so is he good enough to play in the NFL yeah will he get a shot who knows I think Tanner Brown's gonna have a little bit of an opportunity with the Rams the question is does Jason Taylor II make the 53-man right I think that I think any player that goes to the Rams right now has a good opportunity of making the 53 making faster to be honest with you no I think seriously all jokes were signed I think Jason Taylor has a legit chance of being a Malcolm Rodriguez type of steal that kid can play he's got a nose for football he's tough he's always in the right spot at the rights always oh you just took the words right out of my mouth he's always in the right position and that will translate to the NFL whether you're fast or not if you're always in the right spot you can make up for a lot that you lack physically kids are kids a ball player I'm really hoping that a minute Bangla Amiga ends up doing a little bit more right he's always stuck in that third man role over there with the job but you do see him on the field occasionally right you see number 57 pop up and do some stuff it is weird to trade flowers you know went from a bone five certified starter right with the Seahawks and he made a very good name for himself and since he's left the Seahawks he's kind of he's been with the Bengals now for a few years but he cannot seem to carve himself another starting role do you think that he's more of a a leader now that teaches dudes as opposed to somebody who's going to be a viable candidate to steal some more starting jobs but the Seahawks weren't very good whenever he played there the the the Bengals I mean they've made some playoff runs and went to the Super Bowl I mean he's playing he's played some crucial roles I mean I know he's not a starter but they leave him out there sometimes in very crucial Throwdown situations or whatnot and he's had some he's in quite a few reps and uh he's one of those guys that's you know when he's done playing in the I feel you're gonna look back damn I can't believe that guy really played that long in the NFL or had that good of a career in the NFL because he just doesn't make the flashy ESPN highlight reels I was gonna say he did play quite often for the Bengals uh they had him out there uh I mean especially against the Chiefs he had a couple good plays against the Chiefs the last couple times we we played them so I mean I think him he just signed he just went somewhere different too didn't he who did he um I don't it still says well yeah no he's he's active with the Falcons now okay man I can't keep up with all those NFL free agency it's a word it's just about as bad as a transfer portal I can't even keep the transfer portal straight yeah yeah but yeah no tree flowers is a guy that I kind of wish Kansas City had um on our defense because I think he can make plays he's been in the league long enough to understand how everything works um so he's got Paris Cox but not afraid to hit I hated hated hated like I mean I loved watching him with the Niners because you know growing up seeing any Oklahoma State the guys in the NFL super super cool right but goodness me man Paris Cox would make me so infuriated because he was there starting like Nickel Dime guy right so he was the extra guy that was always in which means he got a lot of snaps but he was never able to to be a starter and you could see why the dude wouldn't tackle anybody he would literally let people run by him I don't know why he wouldn't stick his nose in in the NFL because he wanted to never let him get out of it they'd probably never let him get out of Denver if he hadn't gotten all that legal trouble Parish cops I mean he was he was carving himself out to be his rookie season he had a very very successful season in the NFL and it was ups and downs and you know just typical rookie mistakes but they loved him in Denver we thought he was the the next up and coming I mean we're we pride ourselves on playing good defense in Denver and we we were legitimately talking about him being one of those guys who could play there for the next 10 years and then you know he'll travel and they let him go and Darren Williams would have been one of those guys too no out no doubt General Williams was a bad mama jama yeah one of my top three all-time Cowboys to play for the Broncos yes yes I and you know I don't blame you I throw Tatum Bell and Keith Burns in there 100 100 Antonio Smith too oh yeah we don't remember Antonio Smith played one season he won him a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 15. Super Bowl 50. I'll be darned I know yeah Keith Keith got him one in 98 against the Packers which kind of hurt my heart to be honest with you um I was I didn't really have a team per se but my dad was a Die Hard Brett Favre fan so I got kind of hooked on the Packers when it came playoff time but you know so I I think Christian Holmes is another one that's gonna have a really good season I expect him to start this year in Washington um Devin Harper right it'll be fun to see this this off season what he was able to do right to get it closer I know they liked him I know they love him as a special teams piece will he be able to kind of do a little bit more we'll find out Vincent Taylor guys Vincent Taylor is still in the league he's done man he's done and what's weird is we sit here and talk about all these guys playing at the highest level right that's the best 11 or 1200 dudes on the planet that played the game of football right let's break it down back into like high school level so Casey Thompson Charles Thompson's son played at my local high school for one season before he signed and went and played college football the best athlete I've ever seen play high school football and that dude struggles at the division one level so for me I'm looking at this guy like that is the best athlete I've ever seen at the high school level and he struggles the division one level so that let's translate that again like how many good athletes have we seen come to Stillwater that struck look at where Sean Woods Stellar career in Stillwater couldn't drop a ball it never translated the NFL that's what makes guys like Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas and Leslie O'Neill so special in my opinion because they're so rare and when you get guys like that like I'm not gonna put Malcolm in that realm yet because he hasn't really done anything in NFL he had a really good rookie season but when you have guys from they come through Stillwater Oklahoma wherever they come from that are able to have Hall of Fame crew they're so rare and I just don't feel like people truly appreciate what they have when Barry reps Oklahoma State he's he's you know he's out there doing this and and all that on TV like that's so so rare for a guy of that talent to come through your University no matter where you're from I mean look at Alabama how many Heisman Trophy winners I've had I mean I think uh uh what was the mark guy the running back was his name uh Mark Ingram yeah Mark Ingram wasn't he their first Heisman Trophy winner ever Alabama yes yes yeah exactly so guys like that are very very rare to come through there so I just I love having these conversations but it's just so hard for me to sit here and nitpick some guys like they're so much better of a football player than I am and I want all the best for these guys because they came through Stillwater but sometimes it just don't work out for whatever reason like you can't explain to me why it didn't work out for Sean I don't understand I mean I get that but like but even before that he wasn't like the number one guy right like he got injured he wasn't the number one guy in the world yeah you can say that about a lot of college players and a lot of different teams I mean look at Reggie Bush for sure a lot of people thought he was one of the greatest college running backs ever just didn't work out for him in the program what do you mean it didn't work out for him in the pros I'm just kind of a dude man yeah I just feel like his career was for how good he was in college yeah his NFL career wasn't long no no I don't recall that at all man I saw Reggie did quite a bit in the NFL and I was how many times how many times did people put him in the conversation for Rookie of the Year MVP or you know what I'm saying like here did he make multiple Provost I think he made one Pro Bowl his career was not as good as people think it was he was just kind of a dude like I'm not saying he wasn't a good player like but he's kind of like rhyme rules like good good collection player yeah okay NFL career like Reggie Williams you know Reggie Williams okay NFL career you know what I'm saying like all right well how about who do we have on the roster right now that you you feel like if you were to bet your house tomorrow who are you betting on to uh not only make it to the NFL but you know let's let's say be a first-round pick that lasts a decade who's that guy on the roster Kendall Daniels if you're talking about first round picks yeah because he's just such a unicorn physically his height his size his speed the position he plays kind of he's not even he's not even you know fully blossomed yet no and he's already so good he's I mean man he he's one of those guys that I feel like Oklahoma state is very fortunate that they got I think you could throw Colin Oliver and Jaden Bray oh yeah yeah you just had one guy though so I could I would imagine y'all both said the same dude but well I just I don't know if Colin Oliver's big enough to be a first like and he's moving positions and I understand I understand Malcolm moved positions too but Malcolm is also a sixth what was his sixth or seventh round draft pick um just very late I can see Colin Oliver carving out a career like that being a fourth fifth sixth round draft pick going to making a 53 the coaches falling in love with him he's a gym rat um he and he becomes a starter as a rookie or a second year player and the coaches just love him because he's always doing the right thing um if he was four inches taller and 30 pounds heavier and could still run the way he does he would probably be the first round draft pick um I can dig it that's hey man I would say that's a pretty pretty fair analysis all right y'all so we're about 40 into this we'll go another 15 20 here so let's shift gears a bit we've covered everybody that's currently on an active NFL roster um from Oklahoma State in the NFL so now shift a little bit Jason I know this is your favorite but dude that softball game was flipping awesome was it not that was cool I called it man I called it man bottom of the seven as soon as that girl got on base I was like we're gonna double it up right here and it's over well and and the most exciting part for me is right everybody knows our struggles to end the season right we lost 11 of our last 13 and we were oh and eight this year when leading it was thrilling in the in the seventh inning so more than anything like the same reason I was excited to get Wichita State right a little bit of redemption a little bit of get get right get back yes got the monkey Wichita State but nonetheless I feel like we did exercise the right demon there I really do and Kyra's fresh as they come I I don't know that I 100 agree with starting Cairo or or Kelly over Cairo when we know Kelly's dealing with an injury maybe maybe a little bit of rest could have done her some good but nonetheless we're gonna get him on the way we're gonna get a whole week now well I was gonna say let's rewind let's rewind two yesterday against Wichita State because that was a very big game uh Ken Boyle uh pitched her tail off for sure she was automatic uh man I don't think you could have asked for much more from her yesterday I was very very impressed with how the cowgirls responded against Wichita State and I know they say it's hard to beat a team three times in one year so but they just been a thorn in our side all year yeah that's what I'm saying yeah no most definitely and I said that whenever they announced regionals I said Wichita State is our worst like our biggest nightmare like it's I'm not feeling very confident while I'm beating them they proved me wrong and shout out to Rachel Becker today she's a dog for sure yeah hey how about how about the Talon Edwards how about how about the way she's been playing those freshman that came in yeah right after that Katie lot to hit for Taylor tuck and that was the ballsy that was a ballsy move by guyeski putting in a true freshman right at the very end of the game taking out your fifth year senior from Stillwater high like that's a bold move man it's bold but at least you have an insurance game if you lose this one you still have an insurance and I don't know how last year ended we had an insurance game and it didn't turn out so well for us but let's shout out Nebraska too man not getting against Wichita State last night was incredible you know they had a you know great great Regional it's unfortunate how how it played out for them but they you know they deserve credit a lot of people didn't even know if they were going to make it Regional if they had a deep pitching staff they they're scary good yeah they didn't get hurt I think they were saying uh we played Nebraska earlier in the year and they were saying their pitcher got hurt like the game after we played them they're number one and so they were only using pretty much uh on the weekends a two girl two girl pictures um and rotating and that's crazy that's tough it is tough and we know that as Oklahoma State fans right whenever this whole climb started with Coach Kenny guyeski it was Sam Shao remember but we have a ride everything yep all the time every minute of every game she had to come up bigger at the batter's place you know she had a big up the plate too like it was the Xiao show that year she was automatic from the plate especially in the World Series man she could just hit dingers all day and it's like crazy because and I feel like that that year where we made it we we didn't score that many runs unless Samantha Shao was uh had something to do with it yeah I just remember that bathroom she had where she picked the bat up over her head and I thought she was about to knock herself out that is awesome she'll definitely go down as one of the key uh pieces to how far Oklahoma State softball oh dude it's like Michelle Smith number one and Sam shell number two dude all right dude yes good good good call good as far as um and then Kelly Maxwell will be right there too when she's done yeah well I think so I think especially considering we get her for another year right that's going to be local and just what she did for us last year I know that it is yes you know she kind of fell off down the stretch against Texas in that if game and she hasn't been what she was last year this year I think a lot of that has to do with just not taking enough time off in the off season and doing the USA softball stuff and trying to she's trying to think of her career after Oklahoma State and I get it like these girls want to play softball and they play all the time and she's had some you know some finger issues and some some blister issues and stuff and it hasn't been quite the production we've gotten the last year or two out of out of Kelly Maxwell but man for what he's done if people don't remember her in 20 years for what she really has been as one of the best two or three great softball players that's ever come through Stillwater that's a shame one of the differences last year I feel like we relied on Maxwell a little too much this year we don't have sure so we got more depth at the pitching position yeah kill football could come in and kind of spill her a little bit she's a dog you know last year we we um we were cruising pretty good with Miranda right and we had Morgan day as the number three and then coming this time is right around when uh Miranda got hurt right and we had to go towards Morgan today yeah a little bit before like right at the end of the regular season yeah but we're deeper this year uh as far as the staff we proved today that we can come back and bounce back and that's a big big deal I see you cheesing over there Trent we're talking about Sam shall who's the Sam shallow Cowboy baseball that all of us will remember uh like on this current team honestly I mean Rock Regio is a fan favorite but man Nolan Schubert is a dog that guy he's only a freshman and he's so good and he just I mean bomb after bomb after bomb after bomb that guy is automatic for us and he comes up big and uh big time situations he was the reason we beat Texas and won that Series against Texas I mean that guy just he can just blast balls and he like I said he is only a freshman and that's that's a guy that we are very very fortunate to get um Michigan gold baseball coach believe in Michigan or else he would be a wolverine right now yes we do we do have Michigan to thank for that and we are glad that he does love to blast the balls it is very very beneficial for us uh that he chooses to do so Nola McLean I think is another one that we'll all remember right well yeah my my whole issue with Nolan is dude the guy he you know you guys talk about playing small ball and not you know like swing for the fences Nolan McLean either hits a home run or he strikes out there's no one between he's a great pitcher and he's gonna get he got drafted to pitch obviously you know he's a phenomenal come in get the job done finish the game out for you the great closer but yeah that's why we downfall about Nolan I love the guy to death and I think you know I think that's just what he struggles with is he just wants to power the last in baseball he's Trent do you think or even Jason do you all think if we win the whole big 12 tournament obviously if we win one or two games I think hosting a regional is probably in the books because it's over eight and that does play a factor right but people don't don't need a kid themselves we've seen them Time and Time and Time Again places like Mississippi State and Arkansas get bids over teams that were much more deserving because of the the atmosphere the location the stadium the NCAA still likes to make money when they can so I think we'll get a regional even if we just win one maybe two games in the tournament but if we win the whole daggone thing do you think we still have a shot at a super this is why I can't stay in college baseball this is why I don't understand how people get so caught up in college baseball I know it was a three-way tie for a conference Championship and I know it's just the regular season Champion but if you got to have a conversation is a champion of a power five conference going to host a regional what are we doing I don't I know Dallas Baptist is good let's go Carolina can be good but who cares who wants to go to Dallas Baptist for a reason like put these people in these stadiums that are built to hold these things would prefer yeah I mean as of right now OSU is definitely hosting the only question is what you know what are they going to be um I know all the uh different ranking sites have us at different ranks so D1 they are the ones that I've always paid attention to um they have OSU kind of I think before Bedlam they had us like you know 14 15 16 seed and I'm really you know do I think I think if we go undefeated in the Big 12 tournament win it I think there's I don't even know if that's going to be enough to get a top eight I think we'll be right there on the verge of 10. yeah um but I don't think we're gonna get a I I just man that slump that we had in the middle of the season I think that kind of eliminated us from getting hosting a super but you know I think if we go into Phoenix win the whole thing yeah I would be happy with getting like a 10 a 10 10 11 as long as we're not 16 or 15. you know because I don't want to play the top seed or the 2C you know and in the supers because there's a good chance that they're gonna win and go to the Supras if we're not if we're not a top eight seed I want it to be possible we have a chance of still hosting because the seat ahead of us who we'd be playing in the supers get knocked out so right I don't know that's what's so hard in baseball and I guess even softball to a certain extent like I know a lot of people were up in arms about Oklahoma State getting the number six National seed in softball because of the slump they had towards the end of the season that's why it's so hard to say yeah baseball crowns a legit national champion in my opinion because does the best team in baseball win the College World Series every year I would say more times than not they don't like literally Oklahoma was in the in the championship series no you're right at the right time you get to see seated in the right spot and just matchups and the way stuff falls falls your way and I mean you can say that about college basketball though too it's all about getting hot at the right time all it is I mean I guess but I do not think UConn was the best college basketball team this year I don't I think is they were just hot at the right time and they came out and played their tails off no congratulations that's probably that's probably true but I would say that the best basketball program out there wins the title more than the best baseball program does I think it just there's so much that goes into baseball like pitching rotations and this that and the third that's why everyone makes college baseball so fun is because there's a lot that goes into it by making a championship team there's literally you got to have the right rotations you got to have the right line up to bat I mean it's you know getting healthy too that's why OSU has been playing so good because we're finally healthy all right getting some of our guys back that we haven't had for weeks or months and so you know it it is I think and to your to your point I do agree I think sometimes the best teams don't move on but that's what makes college baseball so fun is because you don't know who's going to win it's all about who's going to be hot like the hottest team out and you know I hate to say congrats oh you last year for making did I think going into NCAA tournament play they would get that far no I definitely did not think well they didn't think that happens on a yearly basis and I know Cinderella stuff happens in the NCAA basketball tournament but like Coastal Carolina making it to Omaha or make it into the championship series what then they play in the championship series one year against Tech or TCU or something or Crystal Carolina wanted the year that we played in Omaha I believe yeah yeah like really yeah maybe it might be a good baseball program I'm ignorant to baseball but like where did that come from you know what I mean true and I get it but I mean just wild it's just too long for me man the games are too long the in-between pitches are too long it's just the seasons are so long if you think a college baseball game is longer than that than a college football game how long how long is the college football game probably like three with ads three and a half probably or four well they've been speeding up college baseball so there's games that don't even last that long so I mean that I mean that's cool but like there's the same amount of time in between plays as there is in between pitches and then there's one pitch but when the ball snap there's a million things happening I guess that's just my ADD kicking in that's why I like it so much do you even do you get pumped up for Omaha hmm I mean I guess I get pumped up for Oklahoma City now I want I'll watch I'll watch the entire softball World Series but hell yeah I dig it I dig it all right man well Trent what say you sir does both the women make it to Oklahoma City and the men make it to Omaha or what are we thinking here oh man that's so tough I want to say yes as a fan and I know if I say no people are gonna hate on me I like to I'm one of those fans I like to doubt my team and say prove it to me so I think coach Kenny G is great and I hope you know Oregon's gonna be tough in the supers have we played them or then we played them earlier this year and beat them or no I I don't I don't think so I don't think so um I mean they spanked Arkansas I think Oregon is going to win that uh when not Regional and they're gonna come play us so I don't know much about Oregon I want to say yes we'll make it to the College World Series but if we don't am I going to be upset about it no because I'm not one of those fans that's like oh you know gets my hopes up until it actually happens um so yeah I don't know a baseball I think they're they're getting hot at the right time I'll say that I can't say that they're going to go to Omaha because like I said I don't know what the if you want to ask me when they come out with the seating for the tournament so I could see who our potential matchup is um yeah I will definitely answer that question but uh yeah softball I think they can beat Oregon and I think they can get there and I think we I mean we play organ or whether it be Florida State the first game in the College World Series Oregon State again that would be so talk about that I'll take Florida I'm confident I was beating Florida State so yeah I think it's in our favor if we make it it's gonna be it's it's all going to align for us to get a chance at playing in the semis to go to the championship game again so I'll say that we'll make the College World Series um for softball and baseball like I said we'll talk about it again um in next week because I believe next Sunday after the conference tournament they'll have this evening for the NCAA tournament so we'll talk then but we do but we do but we do play OU again on Wednesday in the Big 12 tournament so that's going to be fun I'll say the women make it and I'll say that we've we find a way to screw the pooch and supers oh yeah that's fair I say the exact same thing women make it but I I have a little different take women make it to Oklahoma City but they go 0-2 in Oklahoma City I just don't think that we're don't think that we're a caliber of team that we were last year I think that we make a lot of mistakes we leave too many uh Runners on base we make too many errors um and I think baseball I think they maybe not find a way to screw it up in the supers but I think that they're going to win a regional and then just get seated somewhere where it's almost next to impossible to win a Super Regional you know I mean like you're that 15 or 16 seed and you've got to go to you know I'm just going to take a stab here I don't even watch baseball but like you're gonna have to go to an Arkansas or a Vanderbilt or whoever number one two three seasons bidding Vanderbilt am I confident confident in us being Arkansas not the way that they they smoked just earlier this season no I do not want to have to play Arkansas until we get to the what's 10 going to wind up in the National Seating they're not gonna host Tech will probably be like a three seed I guess it just depends on how well they're you know they could be on the verge you all have to ask gambling God shows about that no they're they're in OU still somehow on the bubble what about what about West Virginia and Texas if we're talking about uh even remotely the outside chance of not hosting a regional what about West Virginia and Texas what's the prospects of them hosting a regional and or Superman Virginia West Virginia lost the last D1 baseball ring they have them as the sixth sixty yeah sixth seventh I don't even think they have Texas um as an as a like posting yeah um so maybe I don't know I think the last one I looked at they had Texas going to Fayetteville to play Arkansas but I mean with it man it just depends I think OSU and Texas are kind of in the same boat on how well you play in the conference tournament to defend your seat I mean say both of us make it to the conference Championship Game do I think the loser of that game could potentially not host Maybe so I would be surprised I would be surprised if West Virginia Oklahoma State and and Texas all three didn't host a regional and I'd be surprised if one of us didn't host a super well and usually the Big 12 gets a lot of love when it comes to uh host sites every year but this year I don't know I just haven't heard too much about um out of West Virginia it's viewed as a down ear right anytime Texas Tech and TCU are not up to what their standard typically is it's going to be viewed negatively on the conference in and of itself so I get it I'm I'm a opposite kind of I want Arkansas send me to Fayetteville dude I want all of that smoke because look at it this way if we can find a way to get past Arkansas in their home super original that gives me a lot of confidence for winning at least one in Omaha yeah I mean that would be huge if you could beat a team like that on you know if you beat them in a regional or Super Regional that's I mean you'll be two out of three times that's huge let me say that I'm not I wouldn't be I mean Arkansas has had a bunch of key injuries this year they just have enough they just had another guy I was just reading yesterday that got he's out for the rest of the season so uh they were talking about how Arkansas has been very unfortunate this year so I don't know I think we definitely have a better chance of beating them now not that we'd be playing at them at the end of the season and we're on this little streak that we are so I mean I'm not afraid to play anybody honestly I I just want it to be good and I want to be set up in the best position to get back to Omaha so if we play Arkansas before then we do better question Jason does Garrett binge get it done and we take Bedlam round one to Big 12 tournament I hope so if I know one thing I about baseball this year Oklahoma's terrible I don't know man I mean they're gonna I guarantee you they'll pitch Carmichael and I was like they have to pitch or Friday who we could not get hits off of so yeah we're talking about us us not hosting the regional we're talking about if they're one and done in the Big 12 tournament they may not make a regional period they're gonna be done well it's it's double elimination so if they lose to us they'll be I'm just saying like if if they don't get bounced early yeah right yeah well yeah I think they have to make a run to the championship to have a have a chance of even making uh a regional so they've got to win at least three I think for them [Music] if we don't get Arky give me Oru give me Dallas Baptist give me somebody that can give me a little bit of that retribution feeling for for some confidence because you nailed the trend in Dougherty's back right which takes a lot of weight off of Chase even though Chase is absolutely on fire right now Colin Bruggeman is possibly the best DH in in the big 12. you got Garrett as a two-way John Overwood player you got Nolan as a two-way General rude player um no Schubert should probably be freshman of the year in the big 12. he'll have he'll have a legit shot as a first team freshman All-American as well 100 jerometh Brown still had had scratches sometimes yeah that's been an odd odd mismanagement of rotation but anybody who fellas I thank you again I can't wait to do this every Sunday this is flipping fracking awesome do you all got anything else you want to cover before we skedaddle on out of here go folks a man of of many words 100 100 like if you have the ability to go to Stillwater to to the Super Regional next weekend get out go support the cowgirls I know they had a downturn Kenny guyeski it's done a phenomenal job over the last several seasons there in Stillwater he's one of the top two or three best coaches in the country in my opinion go out and support those girls um even if it doesn't turn out the way we want it to in the end if they make it to Oklahoma City let's get out and support them there too we have a very rare opportunity to be able to support one of our programs when they play at the highest level um and not have to travel very far so let's get out there and support the cowgirls um I guess if you want to watch baseball watch baseball too it's a matter of getting out and supporting it's a matter of can you get tickets to go out and support them because it's gonna oh for sure for sure yeah but if you have the ability to get out there get out there and get it done and that means you too Jason yeah if they make it to Oklahoma City oh yeah that's cool man that's awesome paint yourself orange you have a whole body man whole body yeah I'll be there's one Tatum Bell averaged 4.9 yards of crazy uh Jalen is the perfect Tyrique wanted to play running back uh Dax Dax wait Dax Garmin could really spin it he could but he just couldn't complete a pass so that's why he could spin that damn it looked real pretty being incomplete every time yeah absolutely balls time Wars oh well next time um somebody will have to remind me well I'll have to be more cognizant of the comments I just looked over and saw right we didn't we didn't even go over Thailand Wallace either after you sing I just thought about it we didn't go over him being in the NFL
