Now to the damage from that windstorm, trees fell onto homes and damaged other property after the winds picked up quite a bit last night near Gig Harbor. A live look at this outage map shows people in more than 1500 homes are still without power right now out on the Key Peninsula and with frigid temps later this week, people hope that line crews can get that power back on quickly. King Maddie White joins us live. Now in studio to explain Greg in the dark and often without heat. It's been the experience of too many since the arrival of these high winds, but a fire official warns that this is only a taste of what's to come. So she says to be prepared, we have some people that have been out 24 hours now, downed power lines have left thousands of people on the Key Peninsula. Sometimes Mother Nature surprises us shivering in the dark since this storm started that tree that fell today, it snapped off right above the stock. Thankfully, this Key Peninsula mother had a generator. It's a full tree. It's probably 120 ft tall because she had some damage of her own fell across and took out our fence and, and pulled all the lines down across my driveway and broke the pole. She's one of many across western Washington, cleaning up the damage. The Key Peninsula Fire Department spokesperson says thankfully no injuries right now, no injuries but with freezing temps in the forecast, it's important to be mindful to stay safe. We knew that winds were happening last night, but I don't think any of us anticipated how hard we'd be hit. She urges you to assume every downed power line is live and we really want to urge people to use safety and caution with any line that is down and never run a generator inside. If you don't have a secondary means to heat your home, we don't want you doing camp stove cooking in your kitchen that raises concerns of carbon monoxide. Right now. Utility employees are working around the clock on the key peninsula to restore people's power. And even though Andrea Sheik's family has had no electricity for more than 24 hours. Now, we've been making grilled cheese sandwiches on the fireplace and heating up. So they are making the most of it. But it's fun. It's like glamping a good attitude. Now, if you have a generator, keep in mind that without a fuel stabilizer, your gasoline could go bad after a couple of months and old fuel could lead to it overheating. So it's best to get the gas you need. Now, in case your power goes out and that White Greg back to you.
